I used my home address due to their site saying it would come as a freight delivery. The expensive chair came as Fedex without a signature requested. Thankfully, it came on the day that it said it would in the system, and I was able to run down and get it before it was stolen in my neighborhood. I typically get my packages delivery to a package center but they do not accept freight.
Madison Seating included a part that was well-used not open box as part of the delivery and shipped out a replacement (as requested) without confirming delivery address. This got stolen because it came a day early and I had no idea. Madison said tough cookies.
Six months after I bought a Herman Miller Aeron chair from Madison Seating, the gas cylinder on the height adjustment leaked. Contacted Madison Seating for warranty service and they said they would only service it if I sent it back across the country to New Jersey (I'm in California) at my expense, and pay $90 more for shipping it back. Can you imagine trying to package a fully assembled Aeron chair for shipping? I asked if they could send me a new gas cylinder and let me hire someone to install it. They would only do that if I paid for the cylinder. I also found out that they are not an authorized Herman Miller seller, so Herman Miller won't honor the warrantee. To top it off, they told me that the "new" chair I thought I purchased was actually an "Open Box" item. The tech I hired to actually fix the chair told me that it was an old model of the chair -- thumbwheels to adjust the arms rather than levers that are on the new models. I will never buy anything from Madison Seating.
The reviewer bought a chair from us several years ago that broke under his care. This review is not based on a recent purchase but rather a warranty matter.
I bought two Steelcase Amia chairs at $300 each. The Steelcase list price on this chair is $1042. Amazon lists it at $700. Madisonseating is the lowest price on the internet although there were other distributers in the $300 range. I was skeptical but I ordered from Madison. They came in Madison boxes not Steelcase and had disassembly, not assembly instructions. I went to YouTube for assembly instructions. The seat and backs looked new but the frame looked used and one had a 09/2012 sticker. So my opinion is they were used but in like new condition. There might be a refurbishing industry that reupholsters these chairs which have been on the market for over 20 years. The new ones have armrests that have more adjustments than the older ones that I got. Overall I am satisficed with the condition of the chairs but Madison should advertise them as refurbished. I suspect that all the lowball suppliers are selling used chairs.
I would give zero stars if I could. I ordered a chair that was $700, open box. Upon receipt of the chair, it was defective. The settings for height and recline would not lock, thus I could not keep the chair in a position that supported my ergonomic needs. Upon return, Madison required that I ship the chair back paying for least expensive shipping route. I sent in the receipts for the shipping because it was almost $170 just to return ship via UPS ground (I shopped around). Madison Seating's response to my request for reimbursement was:
"The novelty with Madisonseating.com is that we sell brand name ergonomic office chairs for practically half the retail price and include free shipping. This way customers that normally cannot afford an ergonomic chair, can buy one at a more reasonable price.
With these prices and free shipping, we are unable to offer free returns. We do not reimburse for the return shipping costs under our 30 day return policy."
I will never do business with this company again. I was punished for broken furniture as the customer and in this economy, I don't just have $170 to throw away when I have a family to feed. I'll continue going to the other LARGE online retailer who knows that customer service is what makes people return. This was the worst customer service ever!
Do not place order with this people. No stocks means no shipping for your purchases as long as 14 business days. That means more than 3weeks at the time of your order is placed. Customer service is a joke too. I honestly don't know how they're still in business.
This buyer made a purchase for a chair before the weekend. He was informed regarding the delivery estimate of 10 business days in his email confirmation. When he learned that our delivery estimate was based on the recent Jewish High Holidays closures he responded in the following way "... who cares for Jewish Holidays lol it's not even a national holiday. You people makes me laugh... It’s your stupid business practice that I have issues with your morons. I will definitely report this harassed to bbb myself." We did not flag this review with Sitejabber, as we want the public to understand how a 1 star rating gets posted and what kind of people are behind (and hide behind) these reviews. We were not late in our shipping and this customer was informed regarding the delivery estimate every step of the way. The next time you read a negative review, you might want to remember the type of people that are writing these reviews before you form an opinion on the target.
Shipping was timely with tracking. I had an issue with my chair, and reached out to them. They kindly offered instructions, though that didn't work out well in my case either. They were kind enough to offer a replacement. Would 100% buy another chair from them in the future.
This company went above and beyond to ensure that I was happy with my order through them. Upon receiving my order in the mail I noticed that there was damage done to the item during the shipping process which was obviously out of their control. I reached out to their customer service department and they let me know that in order to avoid any further inconvenience they would provide me with a new replacement item and I could keep the damaged item free of charge. I am incredibly happy with their flexibility and willingness to make sure I was satisfied. Thank you.
Until the pandemic, I had never ordered a fancy office chair for my home. Summer of 2020, I can't remember how I found their site now, but I got a Leap chair that I had been looking for for a while. Very great prices, and I couldn't find that exact model anywhere else.
Finally time to get another so we can have two at home. The first one showed up in a damaged box. I knew they packed it in a lot of bubble wrap, but I took pictures anyways just in case. Sure enough, a structural back piece was broken :( But they offered to send a whole new chair, and not worry about shipping the broken one back to them, so color me happy!
They consistently list products as "available" that are not - even after reaching out to customer service to confirm them. I waited a couple months for a $1000 office stool that their customer service confirmed was in stock, only to find out later that they didn't actually have one and then canceled my order. So I asked customer service about other chairs that were listed as available now just to learn that they actually aren't - instead, my purchase would be "wait listed"
We purchased a couple of chairs from Madisonseating at a significant savings (I believe during their sale the purchase price was 85% off retail) and the experience overall was positive. I will agree with an alternate reviewer that their in-stock status was inaccurate, but when I reached out for a status update they gave me an updated time frame and offered to cancel my order if the updated timing removed our interest. Once the chairs did arrive (delayed, but then everything we've been ordering has been) the chairs seemed new or very near new. One of the chairs did start showing some issues within a month, and the support team responded with options within 24 hours. I will be ordering from them again in the future.
Their website is inaccurate regarding what items are in stock. Their customer service is rude and and unable to provide useful information. I would have gladly either waited for them to fulfill my order and been willing to pay more for a comparable product but their customer service acts like they're doing you a personal favor by assisting with a sale. They make it really hard to give them money in exchange for a product - bad business.
Their warranty is essentially worthless, and their chairs are shabby. Bought a Herman Miller Aeron from them, and now the chair is broken after two years of use. Their policy is that to use their warranty, you have to ship the whole chair not the part (so you won't be willing to do it), which costs 300 + easily, and they would charge another 95 for shipping back. Generally, it's not worth it to do it, so they don't need to repair/exchange.
Sure Herman Miller costs 1000+, but they have real warranty and their chair is of high quality and won't break in two years

If the chair broke while under your care, you will need to send it to our warranty department for either the repair or replacement of the item.
Madison Seating has a great selection of products. They have fast shipping, and excellent customer service. Had an issue with the product I received - they responded within hours and worked with me on the best solution, providing several options. Would order from them again.
Madison Seating has great customer service. I sent in a photo of the chair they delivered and the seat adjustments were broken. When I emailed them they immediately responded and said they would replace the chair at no cost! Would definitely purchase from them again.
We ordered a computer chair from Madison Seating recently. Upon arrival, it was determined that the chair was damaged in transit. We were offered a courtesy discount to keep the chair as the damage was simply cosmetic. After assembling the chair, we again found that the back of the chair did not remain in elevated position and instead slid down, and also the chair was incredibly low to the ground. Our ultimate decision was the send the chair back, to which the customer service team accepted the return, no questions asked, and refunded us without hesitation. Although this particular chair did not work out for us, we will certainly use this vendor for future office seating.
Madison Seating is our go-to vendor in our organization. Not only do they have a TON of products to choose from, but they have the best pricing BY FAR. For example, our internal ergonomic experts advised us to purchase the Steelcase Leap Chairs for our employees at $850/chair. Madison Seating had the exact same chair for $250- in new, perfect condition. Additionally, their customer service is just wonderful. We once had a small shipping issue that was responded to and rectified within 14 mins of emailing their customer service dept. We won't shop anywhere else!

I bought an Aeron chair that REEEKS like perfume and they won't do anything about it. I didn't know I was buying a used chair! Buyer beware!
The review conveniently forgot to to mention that he bought his chair many months ago, and reported no issue with a "perfume" smell. The buyer contacted us today and requested a replacement part which we do not offer under our terms of services. He sent an email saying if we do not oblige his request, he will write negative reviews as a retaliation. Thus, here we have his slanderous and false review.

We offered to pick up the chair at our expense and issue a full refund as we are now sold out of the blue Aeron chair. We did not intentionally ship you an incorrect color chair. Mistakes happen. This was an honest mistake done by a packer, probably due to the holiday rush. The color black and blue are hard to discern on a mesh chair. Please return the chair at this point as your reaction to the error has been a tad excessive.
Answer: Hi Lonnie. We do not simply cancel orders without there being a good reason. Your placed (2) separate orders with us and it appears you are confused by your purchases. The first order was processed successfully with the payment you provided and shipped in a timely manner. You were emailed a confirmation of this order along with an order number assigned for that transaction. On the second order you attempted to place you provided a new email address and an invalid credit card number. The order was flagged as a potentially fraudulent transaction and subsequently canceled. Again, an email confirmation with a DIFFERENT order number was emailed to you along with a notification indicating there was an issue with the payment provided. Every shipment released has an email that automatically gets sent to the buyer with the tracking information. Fedex has confirmed the buyer in this instance received the package. As the customer used a package center as an address, she had issues locating the package after delivery, which is out of our hands. It is not recommended to use a packaging center to receive shipments. We strongly suggest using a valid residential or commercial address.
