Match has a rating of 1.2 stars from 1,207 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Match most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and fake profiles problems. Match ranks 652nd among Dating sites.
I've been using Match for about two years and I must say I'm very pleased with their service. They have a large user base, and the website is simple to navigate. I was looking for a relationship but didn't want to get hurt again, so I tried online dating sites. In my opinion, Match Online Dating Sites is by far the best online dating site. They have many users from all over the world who are very friendly and easygoing!
Match, "customer service", does not communicate. I was banned from Match due to something that my ex-wife did on their site. I had to investigate this. Match refused to investigate. They claim the right to ban without explanation. Ok Cupid is owned by Match. I was banned on Ok Cupid, as well. I had to contact my bank to have my fees reversed. They'll even try to keep your money.
Joining Match.com was one of the biggest mistakes I have EVER made! I am 26 and there is hardly anyone who is younger than 4o0 on Match. Im starting to think all dating sites are only meant for the 40+ community. To even join is EXTREMELY expensive for a site that also does seem to care about anything other than money. I got scammed by this site! Don't make the same mistake I did!

BE CAREFUL! They charge you when you don't want to continue the service and won't refund you. They charged me almost $100.00 without me consenting or knowing they were going to charge me. I thought it was fraud and cancelled my account. They will not refund you. Made me keep my account when I cancelled it. I would NEVER go on this site again or ever recommend it.
Tip for consumers:
Check your account because they automatically charge you without your consent and do not give refunds.
It's ridiculous!

Paid for three months, they auto-renewed it without my knowledge and when I tried to get them to cancel the membership they said it would cancel after the period! They could not even pro-rate the payment! What the!

I have used match in the past. The last time I signed up was for three months. I cancelled before the expiration date. I then noticed I was still receiving e-mails. I went on and looked and realized I could still contact users. I checked my credit card and they had charged me again. So I then went in and cancelled again. I then emailed them to have my credit card reimbursed. I never heard from them. I then called them to get a credit. They would not credit my account. They said I had cancelled but then requested a 30% discount which I did not. They would not even work with me to credit my account. I would say to anyone wanting to sign up with them is do not. They are a very poor company and their customer service sucks. It is a waste of money to use them and some many of the matches they send you are false and not even close by. Anyone considering using them please do not. They should be boycotted.
Tip for consumers:
Biggest thing I can say is do not sign up with Match. There customer service sucks.

They auto-renewed a cancelled account and refused to refund the auto-renewed fee. They also refused to hand me up to a supervisor.
Basically, their policy is "sucks to be you, customer."
Use Match only on a pay-as-you-go basis.
They are just plain crooked.

First, I am a paying member. Three months in on a 6-month subdcription. Match kept sending me validation codes even though I was having no difficulty signing in. Finally, after weeks, I brought this to their attention. They locked me out of my account. I did not engage in any abusive activity on line; zero. I was there for the designed purpose. I was respectful, decent, no untoward language, photos or anything offensive. I cannot log in and I cannot get a password reset. I am angry. They have no customer service phone number; in fact, they have no customer service. It's amaziing. I just started talking with someone local and they lock me out. That's why I am suggesting that others think twice about a purchase on that site. Find out if a contemplated site has a customer phone number that works extended hours before wasting money on a place like Match.com. All they have is some sort of on line chat service. Actually, they have a chat bot but it is a mechanical AI that is dumb as a box of rocks. It doesn't recognize or offer solutions for anything that can happen on their site. I asked for a password reset. Nothing. No acknowledgment. It's as if they have barred me from my account. Well, in fact, they have. Thanks for reading.
Tip for consumers:
I tried to use the site and have for several months. It would probably work well in an urban area; not so much when in a lessly populated town or rural area. Of course, that's all hypothetical when they screw up and then punish you for their mistake by locking you out of the site.

I used match a year ago. I received likes and would contact the person and they would say they made no such like. When i decided to cancel I would get a number of likes and messages. None of the people were serious. I canceled. One year later I signed up as a free member and tested my theory. True to form I got a few likes and a couple of messages. I performed reverse searches because as a free member I could not reply or contact the person. However I searched by keyword, their name and location. The result was nothing. I know that the search method worked as I tested it with posted names and the search returned a person with the posted name. So is Match's aim to motivate one to pay for complete access based on bogus contacts. My review is my experience. And may not be typical.

I was very unhappy with the service, a lot of the responses were fraudulent. I signed up for 3 month trial and was automatically renewed without my knowledge and then told I was not eligible for a refund. I feel I was ripped off.

I recommend believing all the negative examples and not repeating our mistakes. I lost a lot of money! The site pays the majority if not all the girls for luring you in and chatting with you. There are just a few decent dating sites these days who don't do it: I'm currently using
http://j4Iove.com
And a few others. Trust me, there is a huge difference! You gonna see it in an instant. When the girls are real they act differently: their girls are still gorgeous, but they are not around all day and night and their responses are relevant and logic. I'm so happy to forget about all the nonsense that happened to me on Match.com

Can I give no stars? I have never written a negative review on anything before but match.com deserves it. Dating is rough. I think we can all agree on this. So hey, why not try something new. I signed up for a three month subscription and by the end of the first week I knew it wasn't for me. The only person I even responded to was someone I already knew and we had a laugh that we were both on it. When I contacted match to cancel and be reimbursed they told me that since I sent one message (to someone I already know. An actual friend) I couldn't be reimbursed. After ONE WEEK. There is no one on this site that I would even consider going on a date with. Save yourself the money. Even tinder is better than this.

I canceled my subscription but they somehow re-activated it and charged me for 3 months - they make it almost impossible to cancel, you have to click on a link and then it asks for your password - then it doesn't let you in.
I got contacted by many obviously fake profiles

Match is good in the respect of being a paid site (if you really want to make use of it) in that it does not have a glut of spammers and fakes. The search tools are good and the format where you can scroll through a large number of profiles is much better than most other sites. Zoosk is probably the worst when it comes to that and search criteria.

Don't waste your money because their customer policy is never to give a refund under any circumstances, nothing but FAKERS on this site, they use other peoples photos and profile info! I wasted $115.00 for a six month trial and I figured out the first week I had completely wasted my time and money. DON'T DO IT!

I was on Our Time over the summer and looked into Match from an Our Time link. Match edited my user name and is now running the profile from Our Time. I get "hits" all the time. It's tough to contact customer service and they've not pulled my profile despite contacting them twice. I am currently not on Our Time but my profile is still visible on Match. This is intrusive and violates my privacy and Match is using my profile as bait.
Any ideas on what to do? I'm considering contacting my attorney.

After six weeks on Match.Com I've decided to move on. I was lucky to get two matches a day. I messaged more than a dozen men; three got back to me. Two dates. One was obviously looking for a quick hook up. Honestly, who asks someone they just met how long they need to know a guy before they have sex? Eeeewwww! The other guy met me at a cafe where he had friends waiting inside for dinner; I wasn't invited. Then there was the guy who messaged me just to tell me I was uninteresting. Not great for the ego. The whole experience ended up being more effort than it was worth. I don't know why it didn't work for me. Maybe there's just too much competition, I'm too old and probably more than a little weird. I'm proud of myself for trying though. It was hard going on a date for the first time in 30 years, but I survived the experience.

Pitiful service. The quality of matches I would give a 1 out of 10. The response of the matches gets another 1 out of 10. Last, when your subscription ends it renews without permission or letting u know first. As far as refunds, good luck!

I signed up to try match.com for free and input photos and information. The next day when I tried to sign in I was asked to give my cell phone for security. I tried my home phone but couldn't get access. I tried chat to get help signing in without a cell phone; no luck, but he "elevated" the call. Two days later, no response so I tried emailing and two phone numbers on the website. One doesn't go through; the other says "leave a message" - no hello or ID. I went back on chat. While on chat, I got a phone call from India. He ultimately gave me another phone number. It was answered by Elite, who said they had no relationship to match.com. Chat gave me another (4th) number. I was on hold for 45 minutes before hanging up. The chat person was nice and said he could take down my account. I'll never know if he did.

I joined the site for 3 months and opened my account on the phone. I specifically asked for it not to have the auto renewal on. During this time i discovered that the mobile app does not work in Canada but works if you are outside Canada (I travel alot). During the 3 months i did not get any emails warning me about the auto renewal or explaining how it works. I didn't use the site much simply because they kept on matching me with people that were out of my match preference which tells me they just match you up with whom ever... i kept on getting matches that i had already said "no" to or already emailed show up in my matches again... Anyway, after the 3 months the site automatically renewed my membership and charged me an additional $67... i called in the day after my membership had expired and spoke to the customer service and their supervisor and they kept on referring to the site policy... overall, a big scam... consumer be aware...

I really don't care what everyone else is posting about Match. It was and still is one of the TOP dating sites on the internet. If you look at it from a neutral persepctive, there are only three TOP dating sites anyway: Match, Mingle2day and Eharmony. Sure that those sites are not perfect but you won't find better alternatives anyway.

I was on match.com for a 3 month subscription, after a week or so I realized it was like all those sights where it starts off nice then you have guys talking sexual to you. Anyway... I stopped the subscription 2 separate times becuse I never got an acknowledgement and low an behold at the end of the trial they charged me again. I called and they said they have a no refund policy would refund me $24.00. She said she could see that I was not on there after a week or so but still wouldn't give me my money. It's a horrible site and a rip off. By the way... found love the old fashion way. Met a great guy and happily in a relationship.

This is a terrible site. The men lie and say they are looking for a someone to spend their time with. When in reality they just want a one night stand I have had men stand me up, and the only ones that I liked and tell I dont want to sleep with them I want to get to know them- ing big surprise I don't hear from them!

Just fyi... my husband and I have decided to divorce. Howevever no papers have been signed yet. Yet somehow he has been able to post on match, com for several months now that he is divorced and new to the dating scene. Be careful who you are choosing to date on the website because obviously they are able to lie in their profile and no one is doing a check to verify their marital status.
Tip for consumers:
If really looking for a good relationship use a website that verifies marital status....

Whatever you do, do not use match.com! Let me save you some time and money. From my 3 month experience - which I could not get my money back - at least 30% of the "connections" are from fake accounts. This website does not do any sort of account validation and you will be spammed all day long from gorgeous 29 year old models who only want to date 50 year old men. These are all fake accounts and you will get spammed all day - match.com will do nothing about it and you will not get your money back

A while back I created an account on Match.com. I didn't activate it, as I was not sure if I am ready for it. I created an account and never messaged anyone. On 2/5/23, I decided to "pull the trigger" on this. And I found out my account blocked. I called match, they could not find a reason and said that "someone from higher support will contact you". Boy, did they ever. I got an email from Franchesca Jimenez, that stated that "your Match account has been terminated. We believe this action to be in the best interest of our member community.
Any new accounts created will be subject to review and will be immediately terminated."
No explanation was given. I repeat, I NEVER activated my account and NEVER contacted anyone on match or from my match account. So I emailed her back directly and asked for a reason. Her response was precious. "Due to our privacy practices, we cannot disclose specifics about any Match account, including your own. ". Basically "We can ban you, and we won't tell you why". I repeat I NEVER, EVER activated my account or contacted anyone on match or from match. BEWARE, if they can do it to me, without ANY explanation they can and will do it to you, regardless are you a paying customer or not. STAY AWAY.
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT USE MATCH.COM. A lot of fake accounts, and they can and will delete your account and block you without ANY explanation.
