Match has a rating of 1.2 stars from 1,207 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Match most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and fake profiles problems. Match ranks 652nd among Dating sites.
I've been using Match for about two years and I must say I'm very pleased with their service. They have a large user base, and the website is simple to navigate. I was looking for a relationship but didn't want to get hurt again, so I tried online dating sites. In my opinion, Match Online Dating Sites is by far the best online dating site. They have many users from all over the world who are very friendly and easygoing!
Match, "customer service", does not communicate. I was banned from Match due to something that my ex-wife did on their site. I had to investigate this. Match refused to investigate. They claim the right to ban without explanation. Ok Cupid is owned by Match. I was banned on Ok Cupid, as well. I had to contact my bank to have my fees reversed. They'll even try to keep your money.
DO NOT sign up for the fraudulent service. They will automatically renew a membership, tell you that you agreed to that, and refuse to refund your money. Beyond that, the "recommendations" that they send have nothing to do with your profile -- it's a total scam. I am reporting the charges they made to my bank account as fraudulent.

So, I had been looking for someone for awhile, and spent the time to fully fill out a profile, and paid the subscription fee. I was wondering why no one was responding to any of my messages. Well apparently the subscription does NOT allow for free users to reply to subscribed users without the subscribed user paying more for that service. So in effect you not only have to pay to be able to use it in ANY way, you also hope that anyone your interested in is also a subscriber, and if that cutie is not a subscriber well looks like your paying even more for that person to be even capable of replying.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid

I met a most wonderful woman from OkCupid and I would highly recommend their site to others. Match.com continues to send me emails after I have removed my profile, unsubscribe from their email list, and called Customer Service twice to have them stop sending me emails. I'm still getting emails from them. They suck.:-)

The site was better in the beginning. It just seems full of fake profiles now. I've paid a lot to this site over time, and I only got a few decent dates from it not to mention the amount of creepers the site has seemed to attract over the years. Not my thing anymore.

I accidentally clicked a button for the add-on "Match Phone". To be honest I don't even remember clicking that button. I contacted customer service to for a refund and to remove this service I never used or wanted. They would not refund me and the kept stating that "it is policy to not issue refunds". I went back and forth with them over this. Since they are a technology company there are no costs associated with whether or not I used the service. Ultimately Match lost a customer Match lost a customer paying $70-something a quarter for $6.62. Do yourself a favor and find a date through a company that actually cares about their customers.
Tip for consumers:
Do yourself a favor and choose a different site because ultimately Match does not care about their customers.

Very poor site. No real people on there. Auto renewal is a real scam, I cancelled my subscription before renewal but they renewed it anyway. Try contacting their customer services, terrible attitude. They say its your fault that you mustn't have done it correctly. I took them to small claims court to get the £77 back. Got a letter from them along with the cheque starting dear sirs! Terrible service. Their site really isn't ipad enabled, it was slow, couldn't use chat and you ended up not bothering with it. Please steer clear.

It is wasting time and money. I have been on this site for 8 years and eventually I canceled last week. There are some guys with good jobs or look but all looking for fun. If you are a good looking woman, has job, education and looking for serious man you are in the wrong department.

You dirty piece of $#*! company I'm gonna run your $#*! down in my wheelchair and I'm going to $#*! your mother in the $#*! for stealing from severely disabled. $#*! you match and the $#*! $#*! managers who don't know the rules. Buyer beware, Match is a scam. Signing-up involves auto renewal, which they say you can cancel, but not so. Your credit card will be charged regardless, and they refuse to refund. Your only way-out is to shut-down the credit card. DON"T BE FOOLED.

I tried Match years ago and it wasn't for me at the time so I gave it another shot again this year. I've been on the site for the last 6 months and can tell you it's definitely a scam. I got messages from people that seemed legit but then instantly went to sex talk, in the first day of meeting. Understand they can't control those people, but those were all I got. Finally found someone who came across like a real person. Went back and forth for a while and started talking on the phone. After learning more about this person, realized I was being catfished. I notified Match via their "report a scam" link and three days later, I was notified that my account was terminated. Apparently they care more about the scammer than the real person. Don't waste your money! The site only cares about its bottom line, not you. Good luck!

I used to use this site down south and it was much better. I dont know if its not as effective for me for setting up dates because its generally worse overall or because I moved to Glasgow. I've started using wejustfit after I read an article about a couple that met on that site and its a case of so far, so good. Even if it doesn't end up my long term choice, it proves that theres no point in being loyal to match forever and thinking that nothing is better just because they spend lots on advertising. It always pays to stay on the ball. You wouldnt keep paying for your broadband service if it wasn't working for weeks at a time now would you?

Unfortunately I have to give match a 1 because they don't have a lower score. Ladies beware! I had a profile up for 3 weeks and in that time I was stalked by three creepy men and scammed by two others. Luckily I'm not that gullible but there are those that are under the misconception that this site is safe and secure WRONG!. Then when I tried to get a refund because I was not going to put up with this anymore, I was denied, even though I was not any where near the deadline. Try and speak to a supervisor, Ha, not a chance. Poor business practice and they don't care about their clients!

Without realising it I was registered for auto renew on match.com. I wasn't informed when my registration ran out and I assumed my membership was ended. Wrong! Many months later I realised £59 had been taken out of my pay pal account on several occasions. When I rang customer services I was confronted with a totally unhelpful woman who refused to refund the last installment but cancelled my account. So I am paying for nothing. I am out of work and this has left me overdrawn. I am disgusted. By not contacting members that they intend to take money from their account they are causing distress to many ex members and making extra revenue for themselves at our expense
Tip for consumers:
Don't go near it. Go to a free site. The are robbers

I've been a member YET AGAIN since jan, and the service has gone done. They charge for EVERYTHING, as if the monthly charge isn't enough. Want extra boosts? You pay for it. Want to talk to the HOT girls? You have to buy extra SUPERlikes, most of who will NEVER reply to you cause they are no longer on the site. I've been stood up more times than i care to mention, telling me that these are PAID TROLLS who aren't interested in dating, but PAID by MATCH to make it APPEAR they are daters. WHERE are we to meet QUALITY WOMEN who are looking exactly for that man who knows how to treat a woman, has a fantastic well compensated job, and is handsome? Cause it SURE isn't match.com
Tip for consumers:
don't use it

Match.com will entice you to check for free. Then it asks you a series of questions leading to packages ranging from $22 to $30 a month. There is no Tel# in their website to answer your questions. I think that is their purpose to deceive you! There is no help or live chat. Their is a chat section for other members. Then they charge you $275.88. You would think that you are signing up for $25 a month and your credit card will be charged monthly but NO! BE WARNED! There is no refund!

Fake profiles with beautiful profile pics that just so happen to live next door to you. Rofl! Gtfo! Another scam. Do not respond to those messages. It may look like a hot model but it's a computer that generates spam and collects info.

Match.com is borderline scam! They offered me a free upgrade that meant that my auto-renewal got re-enabled and I ended up paying even more than last month because of the upgrade. I think it comes down to me not reading well enough, anyway I'm 100% convinced that a serious website just wouldn't do this. It's the same kind of trick they try to pull when they tell you that you have to wait 24h before disabling the auto-renewal, tricks to make you forget!
I've immediately contacted the customer service that beside being polite didn't give in an inch, I tried to push even too hard for my taste but still nothing.
I don't dislike the website itself, it's just not great! I'm a web developer and it's simply outdated I guess. Also if you think that you are gonna sign in and find the love of your life try and be realistic: ain't that easy.

OkCupid has way more features and much better made.

I was going to join for 3 mos. When a pop up came with a special offer for 6 mos., so I chose that, but after 3 weeks canceled. Every email I received came from scam/con artists. And I received plenty. Somehow my name and email address was even accessed by someone not on Match like these cons were sharing information. I couldn't even get a refund for this bad experience and had to call Match to remove my profile from viewing, even from me. They keep profiles for a year just in case you change your mind. No way would I ever do that. My profile is still not completely canceled even with this phone call. STAY AWAY!

Unreliable and unethical. Their customer service is horrible, the site itself is not user friendly (unless you have 7 hours a day to go through emails and sort through their terrible messaging platform... then again, if you're inside for 7 hours it's probably how they keep you single and paying).
My card was charged again after having my account deactivated and their excuse was "there is not record of you requesting this".
But is there an email address or other way to notate this request? Nope.
Unbelievable.

I signed up for a trial subscription 6 months ago. I stopped using the site after 3 months because I met someone offline... the old fashioned way.
I have not used the site for over 90 days and was surprised to find a charge on my card for $84. After waiting on the phone for 38 minutes to speak with an Representative, I was told that I was pre-paying for an additional 3 months of subscription. It seemed that they put you on hold for so long simply so you give up!
After clearly stating to the Rep that I do not want the subscription (which apparently started on the same day that I disputed the charge), the Rep told me there was nothing they could do... I had to pay for 3 months of a future subscription which I clearly do not want!
I can't believe that a well known site conducts business this way. How can they charge for future services that I do not want?
BEWARE!

Just joined but wish I hadn't. Difficult to get a good feel for how the site works without joining and paying quite hefty fees.
Once on it seems like it is full of scammers. Lots of messagea from other side of world/country.
There doesn't seem to be a way to restrict who can see your profile to, for instance, members from your home city.
Not easy to work out how to block, remove, delete.
Lousy site and waste of money so far.
