Match has a rating of 1.2 stars from 1,207 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Match most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and fake profiles problems. Match ranks 652nd among Dating sites.
I've been using Match for about two years and I must say I'm very pleased with their service. They have a large user base, and the website is simple to navigate. I was looking for a relationship but didn't want to get hurt again, so I tried online dating sites. In my opinion, Match Online Dating Sites is by far the best online dating site. They have many users from all over the world who are very friendly and easygoing!
Match, "customer service", does not communicate. I was banned from Match due to something that my ex-wife did on their site. I had to investigate this. Match refused to investigate. They claim the right to ban without explanation. Ok Cupid is owned by Match. I was banned on Ok Cupid, as well. I had to contact my bank to have my fees reversed. They'll even try to keep your money.
Very convenient for them to make it unclear that your policy will automatically renew while maintaining a "no-refund" policy. Bad site with terrible options. You're much better off sticking with the *free* dating apps. Would never recommend to anyone.

This site should be shut down! They do not tell you they will auto-charge your card $150, and offer no recourse. I have never done business with such a unethical company before! The dating options are poor, and definitely not worth it considering the apps out there are way superior.

This site is junk. It was recommended to me by friend and since October 2014 I am proud member of Match. Unfortunately for more than 6 months only two real dates appeared. More than hundreds emails were sent and most of them looks like went to the empty space. I know I am $#*! ugly but so bad luck... c'mon. Interesting thing happens a girl liked my picture and when I wrote her she deleted her profile. You will notice also that most of the profiles have couple of sentences and they look pretty the same.

I get loads of messages from beautiful women who turn out to be from other countries trying to scam money out of you. Women get much the same from Nigerians etc.
Not one woman I met looked like their profile, many lie about there age and that they have kids. Since the guy who raped those women he found on match.com, any dispute is dealt with by siding with the woman and we have all come across weird, neurotic women who can take insult where non is given (like being with my ex again).
Match did get warned for their unethical practices when it came to cancelling. I have had money taken out of my account which should not have been and I am one of thousands.
Every review site gives them appalling reviews so why do we continue to go on it. STAY AWAY!

UPDATE: Recently "Match"violated their contract by omitting some of the info they initially agreed to provide. This was done without consulting members. The other complaints mentioned below still apply
The only thing one can count on with this site is getting a list with pics of single people that fit your age requirements. If you are a man, it also seems likely that you will contacted by a very young East European woman attempting a scam. Fortunately they are not very clever. So just be realistic. Using the site is difficult as there are few directions. Also, at times they will ignore all of your preferences including your decision to remove a match from your list of possibilities. In the past, when I used Eharmony I had none of the problems I've experienced here.

MATCH?! NO WAY! THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY CONTACT PHONE NUMBERS ANYWHERE THAT WORK! YOU WILL NEVER TALK TO A PERSON, EVER! MOST PHOTOS ARE NOT ACTIVE DATERS ON THE SITE. REPEAT PROFILES, VERY FEW TRULY AVAILABLE WORTHWHILE MEN! I SENT THEM 28 PAGES OF PROOF OF THEIR ERROR TO NO AVAIL. ONLY REASONS THEIR NUMBERS ARE HIGHER IS BECAUSE THEY OWN A WHOLE GROUP OF DATING SITES! TONS OF LAW SUITS AND CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS!

I am thinking many of these reviews are paid. Match was a horrible service that literally took 2+ months worth of subscript to match me with scammers. It is full of bots and algorithms that did not match my preferences. Please don't waste your time or money. As a money- making business- I'm sure they will find a way to filter this review. Dating is hard enough without people cashing out in our heartbreak. Match is not the only one.

That's right, greedy and unethical thieves! My membership was automatically renewed without my approval or consent. There was no easy way to contact Match.com; no phone #, no email, nothing... I finally got a phone# from a customer service rep at PayPal while attempting to cancel the $133 charge to my credit. Match agreed to refund $80, but that's all. They stole the rest! Do yourself a favor. Use another dating site, but only after you have read customer reviews. Match.com should be shut down!

Was a profile member for several months until a mutual like, so decided to subscribe. The chat is very simple, you reply to a member's photo and exchange rapid fire messages on first day, nothing really intuitive, as they rarely read your profile it could be a robot responding (!) Then you ask for a voice call, "yeah, no problem", but busy tonight and tomorrow and oh by the way that's too soon (!) If you want to be wound up and made to feel a fool, subscribe it's good for character building (!) But I guess this model could be applied to ALL dating sites as it's the "online messaging" that makes them money.
Tip for consumers:
Get out while you can after your initial experience of messaging without evidence of any serious commitment for a phone call. Obviously, will inevitably reveal who the respondent is if not what they look like.

Going on three weeks. Match.com offers some great tools to work with. They are not without flaws (I'm 70. A couple "perfect matches" were in their 30's. That's trying to BBQ a steak with a pilot light.) I've exchanged e-mails with a couple of very nice ladies. I'd like to meet them, in person. Hopefully, I will.
Don't take this program too seriously. You will be disappointed. They have a huge base, but you have to do the work. I'm given the option to say "No, thank you." if I don't see a profile match. I'm given several tools to let someone know I'm interested without jumping right into an e-mail conversation.
I'd recommend this program to any of my single friends... dead or alive.

Worst site I have ever used Fake profiles/Scammers and a billing process you can only cancel is by cancelling your credit card. Google rates this site as No1, I will never believe a google search ever again.
I paid 6 months membership and got reply from 10 scammers and about 15 fake people (younger that the age i set claiming to be older) obviously no checks and balances. Dont believe computer search engines for rating web sites look for reviews of people who have tried them.
Tip for consumers:
Don't

I hate their automatic renewal without your consent, tons of con artists, catfish profiles and sex trafficking. This website has real poor and rude consumer service. You are better off going to the free dating sites and spending your money out on the town and meet someone the old school way. At least you know in the moment if there's a connection. Match is a waste of time.

They renewed my subscription 3 times without my permission costing me $150. Each time refusing to refund me and you never get pasted a low level customer service person who tells you the policy is no refunds
Date of experience: December 30, 2016
I purchased a subscription to this website and they offer 7 day free trial subscriptions yet when I found out they have no more matching criteria then any other website and they claim they do they would not refund me or even address my questions. When I tried to call their customer service line I was on hold forever and when I finally got someone the call was disconnected. What is sad is that 10 yrs ago I would have been totally supportive of their website because back then they were a good reputable company now they are like the majority of dating websites out there who could give a@#$# about people actually finding someone to share life with

The matches at least in my age group and area are awful. 45 to 63, Portland, OR. Unintelligent, no class, and men who don't take care of themselves or hide the fact they're bald with hats. Really? Do you think we don't know why you're always wearing a hat?! At least 3 emails sent to me were scams. I complained because I checked online and verified this and no one ever responded back to me from Match!

Investing money is one thing, wasting it is another. Don't waste it pointlessly on Match. Match is anything but a dating site. Most of my matches were ridiculously inappropriate or downright odd. There are a lot of dead profiles, that's why very few letters actually get replies. Apart from throwing poor matches at you who will never write you back, Match never filters off scammers. Whenever you see a pretty lady on Match, you should get suspicious. In all likelihood, if she shows interest in you, she will soon come up with some sort of sob story and ask you for money. If you value your time and money - just stay away Match!

I'm so upset at Match.com. I tried cancelling within 5 minutes of joining. Their site is rigged to not let you cancel. It was the weekend and their phone line is not open. I tried like 10 times to cancel online because I was travelling. Finally 6 days later I was able to call in during their business hours and they told me sorry, no refunds. I haven't responded to messages or anything. In fact I want the notifications to stop. The customer service rep was very rude. I asked for a supervisor and she said there are no supervisors to talk to you. Why didn't I read the reviews first before signing up. Match.com is a worse scammer than the men who are trying to contact me!

After several years of subscribing, my 6 month subscription had ended. I was on my smart phone to hide my profile and accidentally clicked on the one click subscribe button. And of course, I was automatically billed for another 6 mos. I attempted to contact Match.com through their customer service link which is obviously intentionally difficult to find. Evidently, they don't want to provide customer support because they didn't reply in either case when I complained about my unintentional subscription. Therefore, I contacted American Express to get my money back. I got my money back, but Match blocked my account so that I can't even go into remove my photos or delete my profile
Tip for consumers:
Be careful of the 1-click subscription

I have been on match.com for a couple years with no dates or promising leads and I decided to cancel my subscription. Match.com ignores these cancellations and keeps charging my PayPal account monthly. I can hardly believe that this is a isolated phenomena but rather a routine procedure with them. So be careful when you give them your payment information. They are hard to get rid of.

Am quite a switched on person, so realised early on I was being messaged
By a scammer. However, tried to delete my photo and my details and am unable
To do it. Match.com not great at stopping taking money, so you will have to change your
Card. A lot of fake profiles, not valid and one main concern was a scammer using photos of a U.S. army serviceman, supposedly now living here in a Scotland. I genuinely thought he
Looked handsome. He does exist somewhere in the U.S. The poor guy probably has photos
Of himself and his family on Facebook etc and doesn't know that someone has copied them and used them. Well dodgy. Worryingly, it seems too easy to do.

I have tried Match off & on for years and honestly have never met in person 1 single woman! I believe most members are male, many profiles are either fake, stale outdated or Match bots created to catch your cash or keep you as a paying member. For older folks like myself it's a complete waste of time/money and patience. Friends have confirmed the same basic complaints. Match also runs 8-10 other dating sites, they're all a waste of time! It's all a SCAM baby!
Date of experience: July 8, 2018
Navigating the Match.com website is worse. In fact, it's pretty close to impossible.
If you see someone you're interested in writing to, be careful... if you leave their profile page, it's next to impossible to get back to it.
Match sends out an almost daily email that says, "45 people have looked at your profile!' Hmmmmm. Is that supposed to be a good thing?... because while 45 people may have looked... zero have written. (Maybe Match should re-think that email. I would definitely stay away from this site.
After the first week I tried to quit, but I'd inadvertently signed up for three months. Getting out is a lot harder than getting in.
Don't do it!
Tip for consumers:
Don't use this site.
It is really frustrating
and the odds of
meeting someone
are very low.
Choose another
dating site... not
one of the many
owned by Match.
Good luck!

Think again before you pay a penny on this site. There is no one to help you with any problems you may have and there is no expert matching either. Worse yet most registered users are not really members so they can't respond to your emails unless they pay. Horrible idea, totally useless for dating. I have better luck at church meeting people.

I don't understand why people give Match.com all these bad reviews. It worked well for me and I met a few nice ladies. It can be a hit and miss sometimes but my overall experience is good. At the end of the day you'll only find a handful good dating sites anyway: Match and Chemistry, Mingle2day, maybe eharmony. Period.

I thought Match.com was trustworthy. I was wrong.
Never mind the awful site interface that is far inferior to free-to-use competitors like OKCupid. Never mind the massive number of bot profiles, the search algorithm that's only slightly better than random. Never mind the shocking $30-a-month price tag.
They are legitimate scam artists. They automatically renewed my subscription (after I went out of my way to turn that function off) and charged me for four months (!). Now I'm out $120 for a crap service that I never used.
Please, don't use Match.com. Almost any other dating site would be a better use of your time and money. They are jackals who prey on saps like me- don't be their next victim.
