I am used to shopping at Lowes or Home depot, both 15 minutes from my home. But now I drive 35 minutes to Menards. Why? How about being able to find a person when you need help? And that person generally knows the answer. Their wood is head and shoulders above the other two and is also cheaper. I recently needed a single 4x4 to finish up a decking project. Menards was a dollar cheaper, the post was better, and I got an 11% rebate on it. Did I actually save money driving an extra 20 minutes? No. But sooner or later it becomes the principle of the thing.
I drove an hour to try to pick up an item listed on "Ray's List." The snotty employee snorted when she brought up the listing and basically said I shouldn't expect to find it in the store because it was listed over a year ago. Apparently there's no system remove items from the list once they've been sold. What a joke.
I purchased a Troybilt weed trimmer. Put gas and oil in and will not start. Returned to Menards on next trip and return refused due to I put gas and oil in. If I hadn't put fuel in they would have allowed return. When asked how to start without gas and oil they expressed they were sure but I could take it to troybilt service and handle.
Lesson learned don't buy any power equipment at Menards unless you don't plan to use it.
I won't buy anything there again.

The first time I ordered something from Menards for a project I ordered 300 retaining wall blocks online. They called and e-mailed a delivery date. I drove 2 hours to the site and they never showed, NO CALL NO SHOW, NOTHING, I sat there all day.
I finally called that night and they gave some bull story and tried to reschedule next week. I asked for some kind of discount for the inconvenience, like free delivery ($120) they gave nothing, did nothing, not even a sorry for the inconvenience!. So I cancelled the order and never used Menards again.
HOME DEPOT AND LOWES, pay a little extra for the service- it's worth it. Worst construction store I have ever gone to. I am a professional contractor and a master carpenter for over 20 years and have never experienced something like that, EVER.
Absolutely zero customer service. Just wow. Zero stars if I could.
I bought 25 bottles of Heinz Hot & Spicy Ketchup but when they arrived they were all well past their 'best by' date. I asked for a refund, but not holding my breath.

Product was perishable (Heinz Hot & Spicy Ketchup). Couldn't get it here in California, so ordered it from a store in Wyoming. got it in 5 days 25 bottles, all expired. more than two months past the 'best by' date. I threw it in the trash and requested a refund. No word yet back from them.
Bought a Eku trash can that was listed for 79.99. Got to cashier and they said it was 99.99. So an employee and I went to the spot trash can was in and they had the product mixed up so I got the right one and paid for it. Got home and trash can was dented in on side. So I brought it back and found another one and opened it up and it was dented in on side too. So Menards had 2 bad trash cans sitting on shelf ready to to sell. It was clearanced out. I asked if I could get the higher priced one at 99.00 for 79.99 since both products on shelf were bad and manager said no. This was the Kokomo, In. Store. I just felt with all the trouble I went through and bringing it back only to find the other one was bad that they could allow me that. So I ended up replacing my trash can with another of same price that I didn't like as well. Customer satisfaction 1 star. First time ever having problems with Menards. Will always open up product first to check for defects since Menards doesn't.
I have had nothing but trouble receiving a rebate. I think it's partially a scam. There is no direct phone number to their rebate, only email. I have yet to receive my rebate from June, and it's October.

I rate today's experience with 1 star only because I can't rate them any lower. Why are they still pushing the bullsh*t masks? ENOUGH ALREADY!
Today at the checkout I was informed that I must pull my mask up during my transaction when I ask who came up with this bullsh*t I received no reply, she just scurried back under her rock at the customer disservice station. These mask Nazi's need to stop with their Draconian fear mongering propaganda.
I'm all about freedom of choice, If you choose to wear a mask, by all means wear one, but don't force your bullsh*t on others.
Don't buy it here! It's so dry and cut bad that your project really takes extra time trying to make it work. Sure 11% rebate but that doesn't even justify how bad this wood is. Nothing is square.

I will never shop menards do to the personal deairing COVID. My girl friend and I went there to get some things and walked thru the entire store without a problem. We had over a 1000 worth of merchandise and when we went to check out we where verbally abused by the staff for not wearing a mask but walked thru the entire store. We left the shopping cart and walked out. I tell all my friends never to shop there. I was a customer for years and bought a number of things enclouding my entire kitchen cabinets. But NO MORE. They are not worth any rating.
These people are the worst to do business with. If giving 0 stars was possible, that is what I would choose. If you are placing an online order with them, STOP! There is no phone number to contact customer service for online orders! (That was clue #1 that I was dealing with scammers). I placed an online order with them on a Saturday evening at 5 PM. I changed my mind the next morning after realizing that what I ordered was junk. I had to send emails to TRY to cancel my order. They told me they were unable to cancel the order because it had already shipped! COMPLETE LIE! One part of the order was to ship Fed Ex and they had not received to items yet; the other portion was to ship USPS - can anyone tell me of a USPS that is open on the weekends? No, because they are not. They would not refund my order so I filed a claim with my bank, I reported them to the BBB and Consumer Affairs. Trust me, this place is a joke and a scam.
Stopped at the Sycamore Illinois Menards to get deck boards. Went around back I could not find what I needed stopped Jake on a forklift and he promptly showed me where I needed to go and help me load the boards. Thanks Jake with employees like Jake you can't go wrong shopping at Menards.
Called Paducah Kentucky Menards looking for some 4/0 tri-plex wire. Was told they had it in stock. Drove one hour to get it. Upon arrival was told not only did they NOT have it, but never have had it! I noticed a remnant spool of 60 feet of very similar wire (4/0 tri-plex with additional 2/0 ground) and asked if they would sell it at the same price. Manager said he would if I bought the entire 60 feet! I only needed 21 feet! He refused to cut a remnant! His reasoning was, "It is in the computer as a 60 ft remnant, and it can't be changed!"
Needless to say, after this incident AND dealing with their mask nazis during Covid, I will NEVER set foot in a Manards again!
Don't ever buy anything online from Menards. I ordered an indoor/outdoor ceiling fan online because of COVID and then when my receipt printed out it said it wasn't for wet conditions. I immediately called snd tried to cancel it. They SAID my order had already processed to take it to a Menards for a refund. I came tp Wichita to return it and they charged a 25% restock fee. $67. Said it was company policy. It was a special order. I said show me where it says that on my receipt. He said it would have been in SMALL print when I was ordering it. Its not on my receipt. Never shopping there again.
Employees get overzealous and rude about mask mandate even when informed about health exemption and vaccine. Home Depot offers better value and exceptional service and doesn't ENFORCE unnecessary mask wearing policies. Save even bigger at Home Depot every time
I will never shop here again! I placed an order online a month later in came in the store and we werent notified. Went to pick up the order and they refused to load my husband during COVID had to call the manager who extended the order for pick up. Went to pick up today and they said the order had already been picked up. No it hadn't it was sitting in the warehouse. Their system knocked our order out. My husband had to carry the shower door out to the car and not one employee offered to open the door for him. Lousy service and employees are LAZY! Will never shop here again! Hope they go out of business!
Recently purchased an upright freezer that seemed to be reasonably priced. Except with delivery, haul away of old appliance and fuel surcharges the price went up $118+. I requested a discount on the freezer, DENIED. I asked for free removal of old freezer, DENIED. I requested elimination of fuel surcharge, DENIED. Finally requested a discount on the Delivery Charge, DENIED. I requested to speak to a Manger. Some young guy stepped up, (not sure if he was a Manager) and requested a discount, DENIED. He then blamed Corporate HQ as the reason for not giving any discounts. Further explained everytjing is going up and the Times are changing. Extremely Lame.

Ended up cutting my losses and saving my sanity and throwing the product in the trash. Menards got their money, so they do not care. Dont give them any more.
If you use cash if you don't have a smart phone you could be paying for things that you're not gonna end up getting if you special order them. I ordered a $500 item and have the paperwork that they gave me an email and it was unacceptable they told me I had to print out my own receipt. But once I got to talking to someone else at the store I found out at customer service they should've just looked at the ski number and just simply check my ID. I can see that they don't care if I have customers or not they were rude and actually took up for their employees. There is no more the customers is always right but the customer doesn't even matter I won't be going back... I don't want to just do ordering online because I don't want stores to disappear. But I'm not gonna continue to be treated this way. As you can see it says I sold by and then on the box it actually had my whole name and when I purchased it on it yeah I had to come up with proof that I paid for it beyond the receipt in the email!
No more business for y'all...

Ordered siding in Port Huron Mich and was assured that delivery to Jackson Mich store was easily accomplished Nothing could have been further from the truth Material has been sitting in Lansing Mich since last Thursday Menard vendor wants additional fees from Menards to dispatch materials Customer service in Port Huron is a disaster with zero promised follow up from the store manager down It is now Tuesday and still no materials Siding installers have pulled off job with me on the hook for two days time due 100 percent to Menards ineptitude and "we're checking into it " and will get back to you platitudes I would have really question my own judgment to ever utilize this facility again BUYER BEWARE

They charge a 25% restocking fees for items ordered online, even if you never pick up the item. This fee is not disclosed before-hand. Just one more reason to NOT shop at Menard's.
Returned a defective faucet I ordered online. Menards would not reimburse for shipping or handling charges. I am out $18 because their store shipped me crap.
1) besides rude employees they are in many cases not competent
2)their rebate program is a scam you never receive their 11%. I will commence suit
3)trying to contact their corporate office or even customer service is impossible

Menards is just fine, in my experience, as long as you dont special any thing! They are a very quirky family owned business. Notable strengths are lighting, plumbing and trim woods.
The fourth time in roughly two years Menards employees and management refused to honor merchandise price tags on shelves and displays, including boldly-marked sales prices.
"Oh the SKU is wrong, oh that's in the wrong place, oh that sale ended two days ago," blah blah blah.
Honoring the price tag on a merchandise shelf used to be a sacred tradition/trust. If a tag was mismarked, the store ate the difference, then made the fix.
Menards OCD over "loss control" has apparently seeped into the customer purchase experience. Which means over ten years of "saving big money" has finally become too costly for this Menardite. Lowes and Home Depot, here I come (back).
My order 8/28/2023 Massachusetts delivery was timely and packaged very well. Product as described. Compliments to the shipping person who taped all exposed seams on the shipping box
