Menards has a rating of 1.4 stars from 343 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Menards most frequently mention customer service, home depot, and store credit problems. Menards ranks 102nd among Department Store sites.
I am used to shopping at Lowes or Home depot, both 15 minutes from my home. But now I drive 35 minutes to Menards. Why? How about being able to find a person when you need help? And that person generally knows the answer. Their wood is head and shoulders above the other two and is also cheaper. I recently needed a single 4x4 to finish up a decking project. Menards was a dollar cheaper, the post was better, and I got an 11% rebate on it. Did I actually save money driving an extra 20 minutes? No. But sooner or later it becomes the principle of the thing.
I drove an hour to try to pick up an item listed on "Ray's List." The snotty employee snorted when she brought up the listing and basically said I shouldn't expect to find it in the store because it was listed over a year ago. Apparently there's no system remove items from the list once they've been sold. What a joke.
Do not purchase the extended protection plans at Menards, they are a total scam. They cover nothing. I specifically asked when purchasing the two chairs about damage caused by dogs and was assured that the chairs would be replaced. When I tried to file a claim, I was told that damage by dogs is not covered, only stains. If the chair is stained by the animal, they will send you a cleaning product. The chairs are squeaking terribly when they rock. That is also not covered. In fact, nothing is covered. I was purposefully lied to in order to get me to purchase the two plans for $300. Never again. Lowes and Home Depot here I come!
They enforce the mask BS but didn't follow the essential shopping only guidelines when they were in place and their parking lots were packed. Not sure when remodeling became essential to survive. I ordered a bunch of building materials before this started and it came in after the essential shopping only went into effect so I didn't pick it up because of that and the sent me a letter saying I need to pick it up in 7 days or it would be sent back and there would be extra charges to reorder it. They basically said I would be charged extra if I didn't put my family at risk by not following the stay at home orders. On top of that a 1/3 of my order was the wrong color so I'll probably have to pay a restocking fee to reorder it when the face mask requirements are lifted.
I spent an hour looking through all their online Halloween clearance. For a total of $60. When I go to check out it jumped up to $120! I see that they want to charge $9. For every item. $3 item? $9 shipping fee! That's insane. I don't have the option of going into a store as I live in the south. I guess they don't need online business.
The menards in columbia missouri has taken it upon themselves to decide what is a proper mask and how you should be wearing it, this decision is being left up to the person at check out as they will refuse to check you out if you are not what they deem to be in compliance, this ended with they're keeping of they're merchandise and losing a customer that drove 2 minutes to the Home Depot and made the same purchase.
Shopped on line for some bathroom fixtures. Found Menard's on line site. All over a banner saying 11% rebate on all items. I saw NO small print or exceptions so I purchased the items and received them. They were a Delta product so could have gotten it anywhere but with the 11% rebate I was going to save almost $50. Well when it came to filling out the rebate I came to find out the rebate is only good in store! No on line. Now I live in North Carolina and the closest Menard's store is in Ohio so how does this help me save 11%. A total scam, bait and switch. Steer clear of these folks. I've e mail twice for a response to why if I shop on line my rebate isn't good on line, only to be ignored.
I purchased a Hunter ceiling fan without a light on line. I discovered I needed a fan with a light so took it to my local Menards to exchange a different fan and was told it was a "Special order" and would cost $50 restocking fee. It was a ceiling fan much like those in their lighting department. Basically anything you order online can not be returned or exchanged without paying this 25% restocking fee. Buy Amazon folks, Menards doesn't want your return business. We are retired living on Social Security. $50 is 2 prescriptions. I will never shop here again!
Be cautious in purchasing this saw from Menards. Mine would not start right out of the box. I had a tech at nearby hw store check if I was doing something wrong. He could not start it either, found no spark, suspected bad coil. Along with not trying out the new saw for a few days, then getting a tech to double check before contacting Menards, I was beyond 7 days from purchase date. Menards management refused to swap out the product, I had to find a factory warranty center. It is there now and I will be without the saw for at least a month due to their backlog. I had not heard of a 7-day limit before, also should have paid more attention to PoulanPro reviews. Be sure to tryout any gas powered product like this promptly, as you cannot return it to the store after seven days.

They kept this ridiculous anti constitutional facemask b. S going as long as they could. Do they force people to wear masks during flu season(which kills thousands EVERY year? Hmmm politics going crazy. God Bless The Home Depot for not taking our everyday freedoms

Everything. But never again
Shouldnt get any stars. I have placed an order a month in advance. Only part of the order has been shipped, nothing has been updated, and there is no expected delivery date for the rest because they lost it. I have been working on getting this resolved for at least 3 weeks and now have no faith in Menard's credibility. The customer service representative I spoke to was also extremely rude and no help at all. I'm never ordering anything from them again, they don't deserve to stay in business as this is not the first time this has happened. They might as well close the online option. Go to ace hardware or another smaller business that will actually care.
I ordered a snow blower from Menards.com on 12/21/22. They told me it shipped from their Elk Horn, Ne. Store in full on the same day. Apparently they did not have one locally. It was a Christmas present for my son in Bridgeview, Il.I proceeded to track it and after a few phone calls they said it was not picked up by FedX that day.It shipped the next day 12/22/22. Now Menards charged $298.00 for priority shipping. It arrived at my sons house today 12/29/22. So much for priority shipping. I complained to their store manager, and he offered a $50.00 refund.I know that Menards could have done a better job. No follow up on shipment, or E-Mails to that effect. I will not make this mistake again, and so everyone else should be aware.
Tip for consumers:
Be very careful what you order.

Customer service here is a joke employees are not properly trained and how to deal with customers or even on their job nobody knows anything nobody's helpful if you need to move anything or if you need to find out about something there is nobody in the store ever that can help you I've never gone to the store and actually had a good experience
Placed a special order at the Rapid City, SD location. Paid in full as required, and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally went to their online order tracker, and surprise, it was not showing up. No order by that number. Called the local location and the punk arrogant "manager" got snotty telling me that it had been sitting in the store for some time. When I asked why no one had let me know it came in he used the typical poor excuse that COVID made things slow.
Lousy customer service!
Remember Menard's... YOU need customers more than we need you!
Tip for consumers:
Go anywhere except Menard's
I bought Larson storm doors from Menards. If you have a problem with instillation, do not bother trying to get help from the staff of Menards. They wanted nothing to do with me and made no attempt to help me with the instillation. It was my problem. They gave me a name of someone they had worked with and I called "the installer." He wanted an outrageous fee and would work me in in the "next few months."My business days with Menards is done. They were polite as they blew me off. Never again.
During first round of covid Menards didn't allow children in stores. Second round security guards physically threatened us for entering store without mask. Menards believes and obeys Gov. Kelly who is pro-choice for abortions even partial birth abortions at full term! Gov. Kelly has No authority to pass or establish any law without going through proper channels! Menards is disrespectful to our Military!
We don't shop here often, as we don't like the checkout process and have had rather rude cashiers the few times we've been. However, we needed a few things this week, & Home Depot had already closed. We found what we needed, got in line and as usual, had a snarky cashier with no concern for human kindness. Things are tough for everyone right now. I genuinely don't understand the need to take your frustrations out on every customer. This was the Auburn Hills, Michigan location.
Better hope that you don't have any issues with your online Menards order because you will never be able to talk to a person about it. There customer service line just refers you to more online documents or the email help service which never responds to you. I had a very simple request request that only required a brief email from them to allow me to pick-up a delivery at a shipping terminal instead of waiting 2 days to have it delivered to my house and they couldn't manage to help me out. Others have already posted about the 11% rebate which turns out to be store credit after a convoluted process of printing and snail mailing. First and last time I use these guys.
Waste of time to get what was quoted you by phone or items on the shelf as where found. Prices ring up higher at the register, when you ask costumer service for satisfaction all you get is excuses, then when ask to speak to the manager no one shows up. Guess Menards shows me that my money would better be spent elsewhere. From now on that's what I will do and encourage everyone else I know to do.
I shopped at two building supply stores yesterday. Lowes and Menards. Lowes does not require masks for customers but apparently they do for their employees. I was glad to see the employee policy although many employees did not have their nose covered and a number were wearing their masks around their necks. On the other hand Menards limits the number of customers entering the building and requires customers as well as employees to wear masks. I will be shopping at exclusively for the foreseeable future.
The way my 70 ye old mother with a health condition was treated and talked to by Menards employees for not wearing a mask due to her disability was abhorrent. Shame on Menards. People with disabilities beware.

As a longtime contractor who has used Menards product for a lot of home repairs at my personal home and at customer home I'm disappointed in their mask mandate! First of all, if you care about your employees and customers health so much why are you charging $1 for a mask that actually cost you 15cents? Or is this a way to make any extra money you can?! And why can I walk around without a mask but as soon as I go to purchase something without a mask I'm refused? So stupid! Their mask mandate is pointless and borders on insanity to think that's it's effective. Will not shop there until they change this policy.
I have purchased house plans and been told that After purchasing they will send plans to their estimators company for material list which was a lie
Now they telling me to pay $299.00 for it
What a scam! I was stupid to deal with Menards. I could get plans elsewhere for the price of Menards with materials list
Don't deal with Menards
Home Depot is got 11 % also and you don't have to purchase for your rebate
Menards WAS a favorite store to go to when I went to either Appleton or Oshkosh. Now Menards is keeping the mask requirements despite the mandate being dropped statewide.
Menards is being motivated politically to force shoppers to continue wearing them. Today was my very last visit to menards. I will never again shop there regardless of what they decide later.
They can go to hell!
Shopped at the Menard's store in Waukesha and they still have a 'mask on' policy and their competitors don't. Also while waiting in line at checkout and keeping the social distancing requirement, then when it was my turn the clerk decided that she would do a training session with a new trainee. Then the senior cashier asked me very sarcastically to step back and away from her. There seems to be a lack of customer appreciation and it appears that Menard's is really regressing in today's business environment. We then went to a competitor's store and treatment there was a lot nicer. Will be awhile before we shop at Menards again! Cashier was Vi and receipt number was 3261
What an awful experience dealing with Alexis at Menards store in Bridgeview. What an unprofessional and unqualified personality. I guess that's what happens when you give power to inexperienced young kids, they get overwhelmed with the power and don't know how to handle it. Menards should do a better job by promoting their personnel

Delivery charges are Ridiculous delivery should be free or less then the amount your order is my order was $94.00 they wanted $82.00 to deliver during this time with the virus you think they would want to deliver rather then having people come in and pick up or a curbside pick up
