I am used to shopping at Lowes or Home depot, both 15 minutes from my home. But now I drive 35 minutes to Menards. Why? How about being able to find a person when you need help? And that person generally knows the answer. Their wood is head and shoulders above the other two and is also cheaper. I recently needed a single 4x4 to finish up a decking project. Menards was a dollar cheaper, the post was better, and I got an 11% rebate on it. Did I actually save money driving an extra 20 minutes? No. But sooner or later it becomes the principle of the thing.
I drove an hour to try to pick up an item listed on "Ray's List." The snotty employee snorted when she brought up the listing and basically said I shouldn't expect to find it in the store because it was listed over a year ago. Apparently there's no system remove items from the list once they've been sold. What a joke.
Menards is UnAmerican forcing people to wear masks. This is the end. If people want to live in fear go ahead just don't impose it on everyone. I guess they would rather go bankrupt. Lose customers for life.
I'm am 72 years old and asked a yard man if he could help me get two 8' cedar tone boards down from the upper level and cut them in half, he asked if I paid to have them cut I told him no and he just drove off. I have never had a problem at any other Menards they cut for free and are always willing to help.I will never shop at Mishawaka menards ever again!
When you order online, there is a surcharge or processing fee, but there is no one who will help you pull your stuff from designated place or help you load in car. Plus they will take the order even if they dont a thing in stock and charge the entire amount. Things happen but no follow up email, when i went back to get refund they made me go from one counter to another, as no one new what the process is and ended up with a store credit. I didnt like the service at all.
Never going back there
Everyone please say prayers for our menard employees they are busier than ever and restricted to 450 people allowed in at a time. They are not checking temperatures as they were advised to do. They are still renting trucks and tools as well as still doing returns. This is not safe it's scary and the employees are getting pushed, yelled at and just overwhelmed. Menards needs to do more measures to protect its employees and guests.
Corporate has been emailed and contacted but still not doing more to assure safety of their employees or guest because they are making their money so they dont seem to care.
Rented a truck 300.00 deposit told me they put it back on my card when I returned the vehicle, which was a lie it takes 7-10 days, I would never rent again nore would i recommend them I'll use lows next time

First of all, do not trust a company that does not let you leave a review on their website or Facebook page. I will continue to warn everyone about the poor customer service we received at the store in Chillicothe, Ohio. When I tried contacting someone at the corporate office I discovered that you cannot speak to an actual person. You can only send an email to an anonymous person. I got a very generic response. When I questioned their business practices further the corporate office told me to contact the store. Thanks for the warning Menards before I bought anything of real value from you.
I don't mind mandatory mask wearing although I feel Menards is exploiting the situation by not selling at cost since they are the ones forcing the policy. What I do mind is them posting a security guard inside the entrance to intimidate customers not wearing a mask. I walked through the front door without a mask with the expectation of making a beeline to the returns counter to buy one, and watched a very big rent-a-cop glaring at me as if I were a criminal. It was intimidating and unnecessary. If Menards wants to attract and retain customers, my advice would be to give customers friendly directions rather than acting like you're ready to taze them. Right?
Purchased this at the South Haven, Michigan Menards as it was marked down, it was brand new. I asked if it ran, they said of course it runs. Bought it, attempted to start it at home, no luck. Pulled the plug, checked for spark, none. Tested the ignition coil with on omens meter, completely dead. Menards will not allow me to return it because I put gas and oil in it. How would I know it would not start without putting gas and oil in it. Stamped on the flywheel "made in China" under the cover. New chainsaw and I have to order a coil and fix it myself? I have a 30 year old chain saw and it still runs like it's new. Extremely disappointed!

Do not buy appliances from Menards, bought a $800 stove oven quit working 8 days later store would not even do a exchange for another stove because it was past their 7 day return policy. Will never set foot in a Menards again, this was the Ottumwa Iowa location
On 4-6 I bought a lawn mower battery when I returned.my old battery for core charge they would only give it back as store credit I had my receipt and had bought over $200 of merchandise since had used a rebate coupon of $4 I told them to keep the battery and they've lost my business
Couldn't find a clerk in the store to ask questions. The quality of goods online is not only bad, but the service is even worse. They don't think about the customer. Companies should fire employees who are complained about by customers
Tip for consumers:
do buy things online

Obviously Menards has made a change in upper management and someone is trying to make a name for themself. Their 'sale' prices in the weekly fliers are everyday prices for most items. Their fliers used to have free or low prices on items after rebate. In the past you could count on Menards to have the lowest prices on most items compared to other retailers. Not any more, everything from dog food to wiring can be found cheaper elsewhere. I used to tell everyone to shop there and watch for deals in their sale fliers but now I tell people they are not the great place to shop they used to be. I hope this new marketing strategy bites them in the butt.
I shop at Menards usually 2 - 3 times weekly however I an so disappointed that I will be going back to Home Depot or Lowe's. I bought a blower/ vacuum had it for a few hours realized it was poorly made and did not do the job I bought it for so I took it back to store and they would not refund my money. There are no signs or any warning about if you try the product they WILL NOT take the return. How would you know if works if you don't try it? I bought a lawn mower at Lowe's once didn't like it and they took the return so I bought a better one there. Just saying time to go back to shopping Lowe's and Home Depot! Menards you will lose this customer
ONLINE BUYERS BEWARE! I placed an order for 2 rolls of chain link fencing 2 months ago. I received several emails from Menards saying that delivery would be delayed. The last email (09/27) said that delivery would be 10/07/21. I purchased the items from Lowes on Sep 29th. I emailed Menards that same day, via email (you cannot call and speak to a customer service rep.), to cancel the order. I received an email back stating that because the order had already been "processed," I would be charged a 25% ($116) restocking fee. Menards charges your credit card when you place your online orders, not once the items have been received. I'm working with my bank to refund this charge.
I can't wear a mask due to asthma.
The doors open and viruses get in. So just keep the doors shut! I will never purchase anything else from Menards since you're forced to wear a mask or denied entry.
I'm going to Lowe's or Home Depot now. Enjoy not receing anymore of my money.
I returned some water based paint I had never opened and received in store credit. When I tried to use the in store credit one week later I was informed it had been cancelled. I was told that it appeared to have water in it. My water based paint appeared to have water in it. They would not give my a refund and the employee who checked it herself even stated it could have been expired. I asked to see the jug myself and they told me it had already been sent off to corporate and if I had issues with the decision to discuss it with them directly. The customer service I received was absolutely horrendous.
Tip for consumers:
Do not return anything at the Moorhead MN store. They will cancel your refund.

Took back vinyl tiles that i paid cash for after 90 days, would only give me store credit, bought 2 different packs that cost more, paid some using store credit and paid cash for an extra pack, took the extra pack back the next day and they would'nt give me cash, only store credit, i will never shop at menards again! They don't deserve 1 Star, only gave them one cause that was the lowest available, they get an F from me!
We live 5 hrs away from closest Menard. Ordered sidings, got a U-Haul and drove all the way to pick up and bring them back (6:30 AM to 8 PM) only to realize they gave us the wrong size!
No help whatsoever in remedying the wrong! They didn't even agree to pick up the wrong parts! They are making us drive all the way back again to deliver the wrong parts and get the right parts! I can believe a big company can get away with this level of service!there is no way to access/talk to anyone in the company other than the store manager who refuses to help!

25% fee deducted to return an area rug that did not match the pic /description posted online. False advertising!
Update 8/16/2022:
After weeks of emails with the Olathe General Manager, uploading documents and a formal review, I received a refund of the restocking fee. Thank you, OLTHGeneralManager!
So my takeaway is to read all of the fine print concerning returns before placing an online order. I hope Menards re-evaluates their online ordering policies to be more in sync with Lowe's and Home Depot.
Tip for consumers:
Be 100% certain this is the item you with to purchase. I lost 25% ($70) on the item. I returned it because the description and the picture did not indicate the rug had metallic threads throughout. Home Depot and Lowe's have much better return policies so I will be shopping there in the future.

I took some items back I had for awhile! Now this is not anything I just bought and had the receipt as well! Anyway it has been like a couple of days and shows pending! I finally called my bank and they told me it was Menards! Which is a bunch of you know what! So basically Menards has been using my money for 3 days and I am not getting any benefit from it! So be prepared to wait for your money to get a credited to your bank account that they gave of yours! Piss#s me off that they do that bulls#it! Take it back and 3 days later you get your money finally that they have been holding!
Tip for consumers:
Don’t expect the money to be added right back called my bank and they told me “it is Menards that has placed a hold” what a bunch of sh#t! So how much interest does Menards make on holding return money for 3 days on stuff that you and I have already paid for and had the frigin receipt!

I have no problem with their COVID 19 policy, but if you don't allow my child to come and I have pictures of your employees not wearing masks, and I won't wear a mask. I have chosen not to shop at your store ever again. There are plenty of other stores to visit. I feel bad for your employees.
Menard's 11% rebate Is worthless. Why not offer a "Discount?'" Your prices are higher then Home Depot and Lowe's in many situations. Then you must return to Menards to use the rebate. You need to wait forever for the rebate to show up. By the time you get an envelope and add postage most people just don't participate. Menards also offers NO military discount to Veterans. Home Depot and Lowe's offer an immediate 10% discount to veterans. Think about this veterans before you spend your money at Menards. Support Companies that support Veterans.
Purchased cabinetry from Menards from Belleville Michigan but has been a complete disaster. Ordered 19 items and only 4 was not damaged or wrong. Re-ordered replacement parts nothing but a hassle. Cabinets were, broken, overspray (dif color) peeling of paint., easily whip off paint, cracked, wrong. One panel looked like they snapped it over their knee, besides it being out of square. Still on-going. Rude Cardell representative. Made our customer cry! I have the plague now, nobody wants to deal with this disaster. Who's going to pay me for all my time to resolve this fiasco? Zero quality assurance...Filing a complaint with Menards, but who knows.Too many photos to show. Manager has them all!
I bought an item from Menard's website because they had the best price at that time. The problem is that they never sent the item or even an email confirmation. The item was not on back order and they never responded to my contact efforts. A month later I contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge, and only then did I get an email response that the item was being processed and shipped.
Our cabinets came in damaged and of the cheapest quality the legs in them broke when ya went to move it. Their laminate butcher block counter tops are vastly overpriced and we asked for real ones and paid for real ones. They sent us the wrong counter tops this was the worst waste of 7000 dollars I have ever seen in my life I will no longer be shopping at menards ever again it's pathetic that you pay for quality and get the bottom of the barrel crap shoot that's cheaper than the shoes on my feet. It took forever to get them and worst than that they had them for a month and a half and never texted or called the measurements were completely off and the staff were so unprofessional it wasn't even funny 1000 dollars for laminate counter tops and could have gotten them from Lowes for 180 bucks never again
