I am used to shopping at Lowes or Home depot, both 15 minutes from my home. But now I drive 35 minutes to Menards. Why? How about being able to find a person when you need help? And that person generally knows the answer. Their wood is head and shoulders above the other two and is also cheaper. I recently needed a single 4x4 to finish up a decking project. Menards was a dollar cheaper, the post was better, and I got an 11% rebate on it. Did I actually save money driving an extra 20 minutes? No. But sooner or later it becomes the principle of the thing.
I drove an hour to try to pick up an item listed on "Ray's List." The snotty employee snorted when she brought up the listing and basically said I shouldn't expect to find it in the store because it was listed over a year ago. Apparently there's no system remove items from the list once they've been sold. What a joke.
I have been a contractor for over 29 years I recently purchased paint reluctantly from Menards and it came in plastic cans what garbage to try and reseal these things try and clean them so you can reseal them I don't know what kind of money they're saving, but trust me the consumers paying for it maybe just maybe charge another buck and put them back in steel cans
I spend allot of money at menards as I have am restoring my 100 year house. Today I needed 2x 10 foot 2" pvc pipes and asked if they could be cut so they could fit in my truck bed of 6' and was told by the plumbing department they didn't cut pvc pipe and did not give me the option to have it cut at the customer service desk. The conversation went downwards from that and I asked for the general manager who told me he would talk to the person but did not take the extra mile to save my business and have someone cut it for me. I left the store with not buying anything and taking my business to runnings whoever helped me load the items in my truck.

I left Menards and not buying anything , why would I if they didn't go the extra mile to help me .
Ordered lumber, received warped and rotted product. Store would not resend delivery truck to pick up and replace defective product. I paid Menard $70.00 for delivery, one would expect this problem to be corrected ASAP. After going to the store manager and Guest Service, Menard determined it would not be cost effective for them to correct my order!
In another incident I was missing 3 bags of durabond on an online order. After contacting Menard I never received replacement or refund.
Consumer stay away!.
Stay away from this rip-off store Mernards! Mernards has been running their 11% in store rebate forever and they are just marking all their merchandise up by 12 % to cover it! They are ripping-off everyone that shops there! I spent $754 on my house there and went to Home Depot a few days later to get some more stuff and did some price checking on what I bought at Mernards. Everything I bought at Mernards was 12% more at Mernards then it was at Home Depot to cover their 11% in store rebate!
Menards refused to take back a lawn mower that failed out of the box. It had a loud back in the engine the first time it I started it and smoke billows out when running. I never mowed a blade of grass, but they said I had to take it to Ace hardware to have it fixed. They don't fix them or take them back. I asked the manager what he would do to compensate my time, and he said "absolutely nothing".
I saw a kitchen faucet I liked and I talked to a service person and asked if the faucet is in the store. He checks and says that it's not so buy it online. I buy it. At home the box is already opened and opened even the parts bags. I take it back. The department person says the box is fine and if I return it I have to pay 25% restock charge. I got annoyed. I ask for a manager and she gave my money back. Don't buy anything in Menards from online.
There is no way to talk to anyone from Menards on the phone for online order problems or questions except to email. You will not hear back until the next day and they can not help with anything or even attempt to help. I live 1 to 1.5 hours from any Menards. My order was delayed on its way from the shipping company to the Menards distribution center where it would then be delivered to the Menards where I would be traveling through. It did not arrive when said it would so now have to drive 3 hours to pick up caulk because not able to have it redirected to a different Menards that I will be traveling by later this week even though it has not arrived at the distribution center, yet. Not worth the hassle!
Be careful of this Menard's scam. If you return a defective item, instead of replacing it on the spot, they give you an in-store credit so you can then replace the item. However, if the second item is also defective and you no longer want it, they will not refund your money. They will only give you an in-store credit. In other words, they repeatedly sell you a defective item and will not refund your money. If ever there was a scam, this is it. Plus, no one tells you about the in-store credit until after the fact. If someone would have mentioned this during the first return, I would have simply asked for a refund. I guess this how Menard's increases their sales, by scamming people. BEWARE!
I went to Menards design center to have them help me design a deck. The person I worked with was awesome, but the program Menards uses to tell you what products I needed to build my deck were WILDLY off...12 post holes to be dug, 212 bags of concrete they sold me, then they are charging me to return it, and all the other extra stuff they told me I would need, and clearly didn't! Don't go here and get ripped off! $12,500 in materials I bought and paid for, and probably over $2,000 in stuff they told me I'd need and I don't. The Manager I spoke with, Tom A, was rude and condescending when I told him about my frustration, and refused to help me the the expense of the return. Totally took advantage of me, because if it was an honest mistake that they made, they wouldn't charge me to return the stuff! I trusted them, please don't make the same mistake I did...go somewhere else!
Tip for consumers:
I all but begged Tom A, the manager in Janesville to not charge me to return the things they oversold me, he had ZERO empathy

Ordered a vanity and 2 hours later put in a cancel request, ( by email, since there is no other way to contact them) before the money was even taken out of my account. Later noticed money was taken out of account, and 10.5 hours later got an email saying they are sorry for the delay about getting back to me, and they would put in cancellation and would get back to me. Never heard back but noticed the item had been shipped immediately after the email from them. It wasn't suppose to ship for 2 weeks according to the site. They charge a 25% restocking fee to send back on a product I canceled and they admitted to a delayed response on my request, and sent anyway. Scammers
Tip for consumers:
Stay away from Menards
Seems every time I go to Menards here in Springfield, MO they are out of stock of the sale items they have in their sale ad. I went there on 12/1/20 to buy some items that they had in their Black Friday ad, that the prices were good until 12/6/20. I had 5 items I wanted to buy, and they were out of all 5 items. I was told they would not be getting anymore in. Will no longer be shopping there
Your policy for a mask is absolutely ridiculous! I have been shopping lowes, ace, homo depot, Kroger, Walmart, meijer, ect. With no demands for me to wear a mask! I managed to get everything on my list and as I was headed to the checkout I was instructed to put a mask on or leave the store. I told the employee I didn't have a mask and was instructed to purchase one from them in order to check out! I put the stuff in a pile on top of a display and walked out for the first and last time! If a business is going to enforce a mask policy then they should at least provide them to customers free of charge! I refuse to wear a mask for anyone because I feel as If America is just letting everyone strip their rights from them one by one and we are letting them get away with it! I'm the one at risk not the people wearing the masks! Good luck with your covid strategy menards, this just may put you under!
Menards actually charges you to order online and to go to store to pick up, where as HD or Lowes does not do this. So you have to go to store and spend hours trying to find your item, because there is no employees in the store to help. Not real thrilled with this store.

usually i keep all of my items
Shopped for an hour, only picked up a few food items, and then at checkout the NAZI manager ran over and denied us service, cuz i dont wear a mask, (i wear them no where) and said i could only buy the few items if i purchesed a mask first. So you cannot buy items, until you buy a mask, that is exactly like hitler. A NAZI. Demanding i have papers(mask) before i can spend money in their store. This was at menards in flint. Nothing they sell is quality, anyway, just look at the reviews. All $#*!ty equipment, and out of date food products. NEVER AGAIN, will i shop here.
Ordered an engine, and when I placed the order is delivery would be 7/13. On 7/13 received a notice that the engine would ship 7/31. I went through the steps of ordering another (on 7/13) and the listed delivery date was 7/20. I purchased the engine from Menards because of the early delivery date. I cancelled the order and will look to Menards never again.
I used to love Menards. Prices are better than other places on the things I bought there, and I could usually find what I was looking for. However, cashiers often don't put any items (even the small ones) on the conveyor--leaving them in the cart--so I end up having to bag everything outside the store. Today's visit, though, was the last straw. Besides having to bag everything outside, I discovered that this store allows customers to carry semiautomatic weapons in the store. Sorry, Menards. You have lost my business and that of my family. I don't have any interest in giving my business to a company that puts profits over customer and employee safety.
Tip for consumers:
Customers can carry weapons in this store.
I ordered $1400 in cedar 6x6 posts and when it was dropped off the lumber had multiple forklift holes and gouges in it. The driver delivered it and took off and the store said I had ample time to refuse it. They refuse to do anything at all. This store has zero quality control.
Placed an order gave them the shipping address and a different address for billing and they sent the order to the billing address. The shipment was 8 big boxes that were supposed to go to our company and went to the house and they put the boxes in front of the garage and now the lady of the house can not get in or out of her garage. Now our guys have to go to the house which is in a different town and get them in more than one trip. This is ridiculous! I emailed them immediately when I saw they were shipping them to the billing address and didn't here back. On the 4th email they finally responded and said there was nothing they could do about it. The shipping charge was $109 dollars and gave us a processing charge and now we have to pick them up and bring them to where we need them. I will never order from them again
We ordered a shed list.I guess.talking to all the people we did they said that it would be packaged up and we paid for delivery incase we could not get it on our trailer.well on talking to Mike Matheson through email the only thing that would be delivered would be trusses we would have to go through the entire store and get everything we needed to build the shed. So we canceled everything and it cost us $140.00 restocking fee to take trusses off truck. I was never told we had to go get everything ourselves. I'm so pissed I work hard for my money and if I had employees that were not trained in their job not informing people the way they should. I would have to eat the cost to keep customers happy. But menards doesn't fully train there employees correctly.will not shop there again. We were not informed correctly.train your employees correctly. I bust my butt for my money. If you shop here ask everything you think you need to and more. I won't step foot in there again

When you deal with a Rat you can expect to be treated like one.
Home Depot all the way.
If you want to be humiliated go to Menards.
They hunt you down like a dog if you're not wearing a mask.
Home Depot is the better America
If you want better deals go to Home Depot.
I just bought a couple hundred worth of tools and saved myself a hundred bucks in the process.
Menards customer service is trash you might as well Gamble.
Everytime I look at Home Depot my friends say Home Depot all the way.
Menards don't understand what customer service is.
Friends of mine walked out and never walked in again I'm going to do the same.
Not to mention Menards tried to rip people off by jacking the price up on sanitizer just a little while ago.
I don't like a Rat. When you deal with a Rat you can expect to be treated like one.
Have been waiting over 8 weeks for my 11% rebate on shades I purchased. I have learned to keep copies of everything. I went to their website to check on my rebate and was told no record. WHY does Menards not give their 11% rebate at checkout? Instead of the customer having to mailin their rebate notice. Now I know why. They have no intention of mailing you a rebate or hope you will forget all about it. WHAT A JOKE. Never shop there again. Terrible business practice. Would like an answer as to why they do not give an instant rebate. They have their 11% rebate signs all over the place.
First off, it's not a rebate, it's a coupon to be used for a future purchase. I sent in receipts for a rebate of $42.57, they were all valid and within the time frame, to qualify. I received a rebate coupon for 44 cents. Why would I spend $. 60 in postage for $. 44? I'm doing a complete home remodel and just getting started. My next project is two bathrooms and a large deck. Quality of products is better, at other stores, but I thought the rebate would help. I won't be using "Menureds" as they are known around here.
For what's it worth Menards has benefits health dental vision 401k,not many big companies don't have that.
Not a good place dirty restrooms they cut your hours if they don't make payroll will talk money from your check watch out
Don't bother! They lure you with 11% off being advertised. It's a gimmick. The rebate is not money back, it's an in store credit which you wont receive for so long it's ridiculous and may as well be never. It's a scam to get you kept inside the company store. I purchased almost $2k of goods for phase 1 of my flooring project around the 1st of July, sent in my rebate forms and it's now mid September and zip, zero, bupkis. I was expecting to apply rebates to phase 2 of my project. I don't expect good service for the rebates on the hundreds of additional dollars I spent there after that. If you're a vet like me, you're better off to shop Lowes and receive a REAL 10% off and REAL sale prices. Too bad, I was a new Menards customer and kinda liked the store. In addition, I received HORRIBLE customer service when I went to a location on Van Dyke in Warren, Michigan. Later, Menards! You've lost me and my family members.
