Menards has a rating of 1.4 stars from 343 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Menards most frequently mention customer service, home depot, and store credit problems. Menards ranks 102nd among Department Store sites.
I am used to shopping at Lowes or Home depot, both 15 minutes from my home. But now I drive 35 minutes to Menards. Why? How about being able to find a person when you need help? And that person generally knows the answer. Their wood is head and shoulders above the other two and is also cheaper. I recently needed a single 4x4 to finish up a decking project. Menards was a dollar cheaper, the post was better, and I got an 11% rebate on it. Did I actually save money driving an extra 20 minutes? No. But sooner or later it becomes the principle of the thing.
I drove an hour to try to pick up an item listed on "Ray's List." The snotty employee snorted when she brought up the listing and basically said I shouldn't expect to find it in the store because it was listed over a year ago. Apparently there's no system remove items from the list once they've been sold. What a joke.
Ordered a snow blower on line that never delivered, am now being charged with a restocking fee and delivery costs. Trying to get the situation resolved is impossible. Poor customer service just keep getting sent from one customer service rep to another. Very Frustrating Shop Amazon.
Received something damaged in shipping. No customer service telephone number. Email and it takes days to respond. Then they says things like you should not have tried that. We can't refund now since you opened damaged item. Four days later

I only give a star to be able to make the review. Buyer Beware! Of Lawnmower buying.
Bought a lawnmower 2 weeks ago today, finally got it out to use today and the string will not pull back. Menards will not take it back with it in original box and receipt! So we now own a $300+ dollar brand new piece of junk.
Tip for consumers:
I should of went some places else who honors their word on returns. It's obviously a manufacturing defect, never used before try to pull string to start it and it won't move, it's broke!

Obviously a leftist drone is in charge of making decisions about things such as the mask mandate and have trained their brown shirts well to refuse service to those of us who understand that masks do nothing for stopping virus transmission. Menards is in the business to not making money but rather virtue signal that they are woke.
Go to hell you pos company
Don't be fooled by their advertising of "saving big money". The rebate they offer can only be used on menards china made CRAP! Their checkout process is awkward and their prices are ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. On the occasion that I did go there for a menards exclusive item, I didn't have a mask. Several employees smiled and ignored the fact, but there's always one moron in every crowd on a "power" kick who thinks she owns the store. She cost Menards 300.00 that day and thousands in the long term. I'll never shop there again. Exclusive items or not
Bought a bunch of Christmas stuff online. Got it delivered today and the packaging was so badly done that everything was broken. Seriously considering giving up there credit card and going to lowes and home depot. If i could give a negitive five stars i would
Tip for consumers:
go to home depot or lowes.

Never buy anything at Menards that you may need assistance with loading. If you do their workers are sure to make themselves scarce. And their store managers a lot to be desired in trying to assist.
Another words, dont shop there.
Tired of the bad service, expensive products that don't last, the "rebates" you can only use in their store, and their ridiculous policies. I started shopping at Home Depot and like it so much better. I won't be back to Menards.
Can I give this location and organization a minus 500? Worst run ship in the lumber industry. Lazy store and corporate management, poorly organized and do not care about their customers, only their money. Didn't think I would every write a review like this, but when this company failed me, they failed immensely and did nothing to rectify. They owe me thousands of dollars for materials not delivered and think they are somehow justified in blaming me for LOSING my order!? Terrible systems and customer service is a complete train wreck.
The $400 craftsman lawn mower I purchased threw a rod on the second use. They refused to return it before my taking it to their specific repair shop. The engine block has a giant hole in it. It's not going to work, period. I'm not impressed with this policy or level of service. I will not be shopping at Menards again. Home Depot and Lowe's are much more accommodating, helpful, and understanding of the quality of their products.
I was in the Loveland Menards tonight trying to buy products for my Spa. There was only one cashier and two managers standing and laughing about the long line. After 10 minutes of waiting one manager opened a cash register while the line continued to grow and the other manager just stood there and continued to laugh. When I pointed out their lack of customer service he complained about having three call offs. I don't care about your staffing problem. Step up and do your job. This place is horrible for customer service. Do like me and vote with your feet by going to another store.
I ordered almost $2000 worth of kitchen cabinets. The color was Mason Twilight. I asked several people if it was black, the picture was black. After waiting over 2 weeks to arrive in the store, 4 hours of driving back and forth to pick them up, we open the boxes to find brown cabinets!
We immediately call, we are told we can return them less a 25% restocking fee. That's almost $500 because of their false advertisement. No where during the purchase was this restocking fee mentioned. Just bad, disappointing customer service... now we have to find a way to fix the problem and put our kitchen back together!
Don't order anything from this store you will get stuck with garbage and no phone to call only emails and nobody will solve the problem

Menards cheats people out of money they have coming. They will ask their vendors to do work for them and then refuse to pay. They will say you did not spend enough time on the job even though they approve a bid. They continually hide behind many different disclaimers to cheat people such as their third party administrator for their supposed 11% rebate. Whatever you do don't do any work for them. Also do not buy anything from them. Vote with your dollar and run them out if business. They should be ashamed of how they do business but they do not care.
My boyfriend, who is handicapped, was refused service at a register and told to go to registers at the other end of the store because he looked like he was walking just fine. Insensitive, ignorant, clueless cashier needs to be trained in customer service among other things.

Purchased a Men's rugged wear jacket that looked warm and like it would stand up to my work conditions as an HVAC tech. Found out that the zipper is poorly installed and gets stuck in the same spot and separates almost every time. Went back to store but they wouldn't do anything because I used their rebate slip to pay and had no receipt. I did look at the other jackets on the floor to see if they had a similar problem. ALL DID. All sizes and both colors of this jacket had the same issue. Too much fabric sewn together in one spot cause the zipper to stick. Not a good product if your trying to keep warm since the zipper won't stay closed. Also, if you buy anything at this store either save your receipt or if you purchase with rebate slip, put a dollar on a credit card or they won't track the purchase
I bought some insulation that had a $4.00 rebate, now it has the rebate and 11 % off. I tried to get my 11 % back but they won't give it to me because it's been more than 2 weeks. Now I have to load up all my insulation in my truck and trailer and return it and buy it again. How stupid is that! Makes me not want to shop at Menards anymore.
I purchased and online item which came with 11% online rebate. That was part of the reason I ordered the item from Menards.com.
The rebate check was received within a few weeks as advertised.
However, the check is useless because it may only in store. The nearest store is 480 miles from my location. What good is advertised 11% off everything if it cannot be used.
So this is a bogus rebate, i. E., bait and switch.

They advertise price after rebates, which you must jump through hoops and pay postage to send in and likely never get. I've mailed in 6-7 rebate forms and never received one. These people have no scruples, and you only encourage their greedy, unscrupulous ways by shopping there.
I usually don't write bad reviews unless is necessary to disclose inappropriate ways of doing business.
I placed an online order and I was not able to cancel it or pick it up. I've placed orders with home depot and after 15 days of no pick up the order gets cancelled and refund back to the original payment. Not the case here they cancel the order after 30 days turn it into a 90 day return, charge you a 25% restocking fee and if you don't go to the store to claim you in-store credit you will never see that money again.
Spoke to store manager and Corporate and they state they'd how they do business.
It's sad that businesses take advantage of their customers. Please read the term and conditions before you purchase. Unfortunately after reading Menards there is nothing stating store credits after 90 for online orders. So I was at a lost anyways.
I have never had a positive purchase from Menards. They are close to my home town is the only reason I shop there. Why is it ok to place open product back on the shelf? Every purchase is missing an essential piece or is deformed in some way. Lumber selection and grade is the worst, the garden center is all they have going for them. Why do we all put up with the sub standard service and quality of Menards.
When Lowes refused to accommodate us we went to Menards for our patio furniture online. We were pleasantly surprised with the product. It was delivered a day ahead of schedule. An employee actually called to make sure I knew it was a display.! Top service. Thankyou!
I was looking to buy a recliner, they had one in their Black Friday ad. I asked the guy if they would load it and tie it down and he said yes. So when I went to have it loaded the guy used a forklift to put it in my truck. First mistake was he left the pallet under it.then I asked him if it needed tied down and he said no its good. Had he said it did I would have but he said it was ok. So less then 2 miles on the highway it blows out and breaks on the side of the road. I called them and they said too bad but not their problem. Horrible customer service and lies to you to make the sale.
Customer service takes forever and can only reply via email! No phone numbers to call or chat. In 2020, they often ship the wrong items or ship items that are damaged because of poor or non-existent packaging
Because of their poor customer support, I ordered the wrong type of ceiling fans. I paid $691.95 for two. When I returned them, they refunded me $377.58! When I ordered the correct fans directly from Hunter, they said there would never be a restocking fee if I returned them. Go elsewhere. These guys are rip offs!
