I am used to shopping at Lowes or Home depot, both 15 minutes from my home. But now I drive 35 minutes to Menards. Why? How about being able to find a person when you need help? And that person generally knows the answer. Their wood is head and shoulders above the other two and is also cheaper. I recently needed a single 4x4 to finish up a decking project. Menards was a dollar cheaper, the post was better, and I got an 11% rebate on it. Did I actually save money driving an extra 20 minutes? No. But sooner or later it becomes the principle of the thing.
I drove an hour to try to pick up an item listed on "Ray's List." The snotty employee snorted when she brought up the listing and basically said I shouldn't expect to find it in the store because it was listed over a year ago. Apparently there's no system remove items from the list once they've been sold. What a joke.
Management accuse me of placing a box into a slot so that I can get a cheaper price I said check cameras I can't help it if someone put a box in the wrong place and then had the nerve to say God help help with what with her calling me a thief? Yes, God help us, and then, when I asked to speak to the store manager, who, by the way, was younger than her, who by the way, she couldn't speak very good English, which made it very difficult for me to understand what she's asking me for this kit number I don't work here why are you asking me for a skid number horrible just horrible. I can see why they got one ratings. I don't understand is how they're still in business customers are always right. I am totally check the cameras I'm not a thief. I hope that still goes under and God help it go under.

After being called a thief, I chose not to spend my money there
Had a $600 order went to pay and was told we couldn't check out with out a mask! We had been through the whole store and passed several employees that said nothing about the masks. They didn't have any complimentary masks at the door or anyone counting people or anything. We left and went to Lowe's. And on the bright side saved $12 per sheet of plywood. So I saved about $65.

I have been a contractor in Indiana for last 30 yrs. I still shop at Menards but I totally ignore their 11% off rebate sale. If you pay any attention to their prices and it seems impossible but they literally raise prices in their store 12 to 15% during the 11% off sale if you don't believe me price and item watch for the 11% off then go see what it costs. The 11% off is very effective and people would never dream a store that size would raise prices prior to a sale but this is a fact!
I used to love shopping there several times a week, but not anymore.
They do not have the legal right to force healthy people to wear certain articles clothing or fake' non N95 or higher rated and properly fitted medical apparatus' that don't actually do anything for moral feel goods.
They are a home building supply store chain, not a medical center and have no right to demand people, they have no medical authority over, to do anything above and beyond standard civil decency laws (No, Shirt, No shoes, No service) laws.
I am 100% for people with legitimate personal health concerns wearing whatever personal protection they wish to wear at their digressions, but NOBODY has the right to force me or anyone else to do anything on their behalf.
Anyway, It seems their competition is happy to take my and everyone else money on their behalf since their parking lots are now full and its now menards that's at 1/3 - 12/2 normal traffic levels!
I went shopping at Menards on 54th St. I have a cart full ($550). I ask for help all I get is a point, I don't know, maybe over there, I don't work in that department. Really hire people who want to do the job.

My Menards special order (LVLD*******) My package was delivered damage/defective and missing parts. Since I haven't heard back yet, I've got the emails confirmation in the first place and I wanted to make customer aware that the Menard is ignoring my complaints. I cannot utilized the damage merchandise I received. I have attached proof of the damaged items.
I ordered items on line and "received" a rebate. The issue is he rebate is only good in stores. The is a deceptive practice in my opinion as there are not that many stores in the United States. I wish I would have read the other reviews before dealing with this company.
Went to menards chesterfield twp. Mi 1-22-21@7:30 pm looking at shower doors, they had one priced at 217.00 wasn't color I wanted so had to think about it, returned 1 hour latter, sales lady I wanted to order it she said she'd be right back, came with male employee said they would not honor discount price, I asked to speak with store manager, he said he was, all the time smirking. Told him I would not shop there anymore [ shop there 3 or 4 times a week] turned to walk away, calls out thanks for stopping buy. 0 stars
There's something up with Menards hiring practices. My day to day routine has slowed down and was looing for part time work. I'm a very qualified individual for role I submit an application for yet I wasn't even considered for the job. They're to big to have manager biases or whatever that may be going on. Not even a phone interview!
Yea I'm not shopping there anymore either. There's so much stuff in these stores but never any salesman that looks at the customers needs and can tell them the basics features of the product.

buyer beware: I think its only store credit you get for a return

Inferior products and no help when products fail. We bought dozens of sheets of pressure-treated plywood from Menards. Some of it began to delaminate within weeks, so we didn't use those portions. But now, within one year after installation, the installed pieces are delaminating left and right, especially the pieces that got wet. Old regular plywood is still holding up under the same conditions, but this new Menards plywood is bubbling out everywhere. Looks terrible. The whole project will have to be torn down, and all Menards plywood will have to be replaced. An extensive job, all over again, at a very high cost, AGAIN!

Masks and social distancing has no basis in science and there is absolutely no evidence that it prevents or protects anyone from any virus. "Right Now, people should be walking around with masks on..." Anthony Fauci https://youtu.be/1qa6dAO-Hyw enforcing this propaganda is working against your company. Stop being ignorant and gullible, your policy will end your corporation in the end. You have been warned.
The only thing I can complain about is this 11% rebate. I have found that a lot of the employees don't understand it and they give you the price of with the rebate and that was not what I was looking for because honestly I feel that the rebate should be taken off at the registered like Lowe's does don't have to be 11% okay could even be 5% at register or the card. I have waited three years for my rebate that I sent in still waiting. So I feel that if Menards would actually give the rebate either at register or lower their prices or not necessarily give it 11% but maybe try to go ahead and give it at the register that is more or less with the whole situation should be at the register that's where the consumer will save money not have to wait for it I would shop there all the time.
I bought 2 vanity tops totaling $1900. 00. They had to be shipped from up north (Minnesota or Michigan) and it would take at least 2 weeks. Two days after I made the purchase I found out I could get granite vanity tops $800.00 cheaper from another company and that company delivered and installed for free. (Menards charged $79.00 for delivery and extra to carry it upstairs and they do not install). I went back to Menards and asked to cancel the order. They charged me $450.00 restocking fee. I knew this was my fault and expected to be charged something but $450.00! The tops had not even been shipped yet. I will never spend any money at Menards ever again. I have since purchased all new faucets, mirrors, paint and numerous other items that total a lot more than $450.00. They are the ones losing out in the long run. No way to run a business. There are too many other places to go.
Never going again. I was run down by some guy that had been sitting on a stool, just to be questioned about why I wasn't wearing a mask. I walked a little farther and saw the sign and told him I am not able to wear a mask but only needed a couple things. He proceeded to get in my face, less than a foot away and start cussing at me. Menards had better learn about rights and laws soon but either way they wont see my business again.
You have to have a customer service department before you are able to rate it. I contacted by e-mail 5 times and the only that happened is I got passed off to a local store instead of handling it. The store also never contacted me. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I am also going to let the BBB know about, even though they probably already have a ton of bad reviews. Menards obviously doesn't give a damn.
I used to like shopping at Menards.
If you look at the ad, you will notice that the prices are being raised to accommodate for the "11%" discount. After discounts are applied, items are $2.99 or $19.99. These are the prices they wanted in the first place. A tub I purchased 4 months ago for $260 suddenly increased to $288.60. After the "rebate", it dropped back down to $260. They are also betting on the fact that you will not send in the rebate

Just a general observation.
We went to Manhattan ks menards to purchase washer and Dryer, we found what we like and the price was about $1500.00, they would not wave delivery fee that is a couple hundred dollars, and they want to charge us $40 each to move our old Washer and Dryer. The Lady that was helping us called the manager if he is able to get the delivery fee waved, he refused. Who in the right mind would loose a $1500 dollar business for a couple hundred dollars? Their customer service is horrible. I refused to spend my money there and went to Home depot, we found a better Washer and Dryer and free delivery! Ofcourse great customer service! I will never shop at Menards again!
I bought so many items from Menard and the store didn't give me any rebate when I applied for that. The store just says for 11% rebate but that is not for everyone, maybe it's given to 0.5% of the customers.
Had to buy a light fixture online because they did not carry it in the store. No big deal... until we had to return it. It cost close to 400.00 and they would not return it without taking out a 25% restocking fee. I was like, I can see the light fixture hanging up from here, this is not a special order. You have it hanging up in your store. Nope, they would not refund 100 for the restocking fee. Asked both Lowes and Home Depot if they would except and online purchase return without a restocking fee... and they said yep. They would take it back as a regular return. DO NOT SHOP HERE.

My doors I ordered online were delivered to the wrong address - because Menards put the wrong address on the bill of lading for the delivery company. I had to go pick it up and haul it to the correct address and Menards would not compensate me. Also, the rebate checks they offer are only good for in store purchases - which for me does no good because there is not a Menards in my state.
Purchased what Menard's considered a"special order" exterior door, as it was not stocked as an in-store selling item. Required to pay-in-full@ time of purchase. Delay in delivery to store for pick-up, however I stayed in-touch with Yorkville, IL Menard's for pick-up. They restocked they door & did'nt inform me. After week's of emailing customer service, Menard's charged me a restock fee of 25% & the Yorkville, IL Store Manager became very rude when I tried to explain the series of events. I was issued a store credit@ the reduced amount & have yet to receive the merch credit. I guess Home Depot will definately will be my home interior place to shop after how rudely I have been treated & the run-around I received.
Tip for consumers:
Read the fine print & shop somewhere else.

ordered an exterior door which Menard's ended up restocking & charging me a restocking fee of 25%. I received no door.
Entered the store with no objections. Walked through the store to the lumber desk. Nothing said. Ordered some very expensive treated lumber. Nothing said. About to reach checkout. Employee said I need a mask. I can't wear one. He said to shop on line. Manager hawking me in line till I got up to him. They would not let me buy anything without wearing a mask. Never will I shop at menards again. Being retrumplicans and all I would have thought they wood have lifted the mask mandate. Hope they fold up and go out of business.
Many times this store has let me down. Never mind the "11%" rebate crap, but I ordered online and then cancelled. Of course, a 25% RESTOCKING FEE?! I will always go to Lowes and show my Military ID for an immediate 10% discount. Not sure why I wasn't doing this the whole time. Hello, Lowe's!
Tip for consumers:
GO TO LOWES

Not the ones that cost me 25% RESTOCKING FEE!!
The state of WI is open and while menards is open they still require people to wear masks. The rule is IF you can't social distance by 6' THEN wear a mask. The statewide numbers of covid are reducing. The fact that it doesn't spread on material things is proven. The fact is that people who test positive but are Asymptomatic, don't spread the disease. It is also understood that it is generally weakening in its effects on people, as viruses do. So wake up Menards! I see your rating is very low and I know you're not improving it with your panicked response to this. I haven't and won't shop there til you stop this hysteria, although I'm starting to like Lowe's more and more.
I walked all over to find someone to help, no one around. I wanted 10 bags of topsoil but have had back surgery 3 times and it is not easy for me to lift. I went to the checkout and then they sent me back to a service dept. where I assumed they would get help for me. Instead the cashier told me that I would have to load the topsoil by myself and just push it through the front. I bought 2 bags that I could manage, left the store and will NEVER return to Menards. Instead I will go to Home Depot, purchase the topsoil at the register in 2 minutes, go to the loading area, it will be loaded for me and I will be gone in a max of 10 minutes.
