Menards has a rating of 1.4 stars from 343 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Menards most frequently mention customer service, home depot, and store credit problems. Menards ranks 102nd among Department Store sites.
I am used to shopping at Lowes or Home depot, both 15 minutes from my home. But now I drive 35 minutes to Menards. Why? How about being able to find a person when you need help? And that person generally knows the answer. Their wood is head and shoulders above the other two and is also cheaper. I recently needed a single 4x4 to finish up a decking project. Menards was a dollar cheaper, the post was better, and I got an 11% rebate on it. Did I actually save money driving an extra 20 minutes? No. But sooner or later it becomes the principle of the thing.
I drove an hour to try to pick up an item listed on "Ray's List." The snotty employee snorted when she brought up the listing and basically said I shouldn't expect to find it in the store because it was listed over a year ago. Apparently there's no system remove items from the list once they've been sold. What a joke.

Tip for consumers:
The sales person's snotty attitude was the icing on the cake. She couldn't even manage an "I'm sorry." She acted like I was an idiot to think that something listed on the site would actually still be available after a year. Maybe Ray died of COVID.
I purchased Medalian Cabinets, and we had a total of 6 base cabinets 4 came damaged and one wall cabinet. We did get the replacements, and they came more damaged than the originals. The finish on most cabinets were horrible. They do not stand behind their products they sell. We have spent almost 10,000 on these cabinets that are supposed to be top of the line they are actually junk below is a picture of just one of the cabinets. When telling the salesperson about it she stated yes, we get a lot of complaints about them. I was so shocked they said that and even though they get a lot of complaints they still sell them and WILL NOT stand behind them. Then I went to return an item to get a store credit without a receipt they said they had to put it in the damage and could not return it for store credit without the receipt but can do it with one. So, I had to spend another 10 minutes to 15 minutes looking for the receipt found it and they gave me the money back. Which does not make sense with or without the receipt you still had to damage it out and I was just asking for a store credit without the receipt. What a joke.
Tip for consumers:
I would never buy cabinets from Menards and would like people to beware of their cabinets until they find another supplier or stand behind them.

If I could give them a rating less than one star I would. Used to be a fairly good place to shop but has turned into a greedy corporation. If my last name was Menard I would change it and go into the govt. Witness protection program. I got stung buying vinyl flooring from the CFL corp. which is just Chinese garbage, don't believe "made in USA" on products anymore.
Be careful what you purchase at Menards, they sell products with "Made in U.S.A". On the packaging but this rather deceptive. A lot of "made in America" is kind of true in the legal sense but is in reality companies from China who set up shop in the U.S. with Chinese workers, and Chinese material shipped in. The end result is that you are getting the same inferior Chinese products as before but inder a new umbrella. Check out the companies history carefully and read customer reviews befoe making any purchases.
This has to be the worse place to shop for customer service and their ridiculous rebate policy. I was told by a manager at Menards if I was within a few weeks of the rebate period I would get a rebate on $1900 of tile! Nope refused it. I paid cash for the tile and had a previous rebate for $192.00. Well when I returned a few boxes they would not give me cash back but only a store credit! I had my receipt this is ridiculous! I told them besides using that store credit I was never using them again! Go Home Depot and Lowe's you have far better customer service. We have done 30 houses and four farms Menards lost a good customer! CUSTOMERS BE WARE!
Tip for consumers:
Poor store policies and customer service.

Tile $1900.00 worth of something they were no longer going to carry. Read my entire review and do not shop at Menards.
They need to stop posting final price after rebate when you get no money back after the "rebate"
Menard's advertises products with a before and after price with the rebates. After looking at the fine print you save no money and the final price is a lie. You get no money back after the rebate, but instead get store credit.
Tip for consumers:
This should be against the law to bait and switch people into thinking they are getting money back from a rebate. All they give you is store credit
If you decide to work outside yard the receiving manager is rude and likes to stare and treat everyone like little kids and I seen lots of people quit because of this manger and I think he should be fired and I would not work at the Wyoming Menards
Seems they have a huge turnover of staff. A few are really great. Several confided they do not like the manager. Same here, have had interactions with him - absolutely do not care for his behavior, personality, approach. I have a small business. If he were my employee, he would be fired...nasty attitude, not friendly... Hope he gets transferred to some other store...

The first shipment of bags of mulch had termites in them so I had them bring me new bags of mulch and these are also infested with termites!

Cannot believe the $#*!s at Capital One that administer the Menards Big Card they are Crooks on an $18.02 bill that was paid less than 24 hours late incurred a $17 late fee that is horse$#*!.
After over 20 years of being a big card member and spending tens of thousands of dollars at Menards I have now canceled my big card account and shredded it and will never ever deal with Capital One in any way shape or form ever again in my life.
I may still use Menards but it will no longer be my first choice.

Menards facts. They put returns that are used back in stock. If their rebates fail, they tell you to contact the office and they tell you to mail them back. This company passed the buck all the time. Menards sucks. No stars for you! You got 1 star cause I was forced too. Menards sucks. No nice way to put it.
I went in there as a single woman and asked for assistance and had to wait 20 minutes before anyone could come and help me and then I asked him to help me cut these metals for my carpet and they said no. The customer service says we sell your projects we don't do your projects. I considered that very rude

Rip off store. Unsafe aisles, rarely sales help available, junk quality items, inane jingle music blasting constantly, rude management, refunds nearly impossible to get, misleading sale posters. You name it, if it's unethical, rude, or your basic rip off scheme, they engage in it. I've lived here since before this store was built and had more bad experiences than good ones. Their plants are always half dead during the growing season, their tools are over priced and poor quality, and their food items are often outdated and just gross. They sell milk and dairy but do not keep their coolers at the correct temperature. So following safety guidelines is obviously not a priority for them. If you choose to shop there, be careful about EVERYTHING you pick up. You DO NOT want to go through their exchange/refund hassle.
Menards is usually my go to store, but I have been in line for 20 minutes to check out with two flower pots. If they don't improve staffing, and get more cashiers in the garden somewhere, the busiest place all summer, it is not worth my time to shop here anymore.
Tip for consumers:
Menards is my go to store, but the lines are at least 20 minutes long today. Since it’s summer, you would think Menards l would know enough to have more registers open. Or at least take out a few self-service, checkout lanes. The lines were the snow on both inside and outside. Also at the customer service desk.
The store has been in a business loan enough to know they need more staff on a Sunday in the summer.

I bought an item $2500, online from Menards. The item after 36 days was never delivered, sat in a warehouse. Could not contact anyone at Menards on this, and they refuse to give me full refund. Spent hours and hours on my own trying to resolve. Has been a nightmare. Do not order from Menards.com. This overall rating says it all - do your homework and avoid.
Tip for consumers:
DON'T ORDER FROM MENARDS. COM, YOU WILL REGRET IT. CHECK OUT THERE RATINGS!

Was visiting relatives in Missouri and bought a 2 pack of led ceiling lights for our home in South Carolina. (Nearest Menards to us is 11 hours).
Got home and went to install them and 1 was broken.
Called Menards and was told I would have to pay shipping both ways to return an Item that was broken when purchased.
Checked their satisfaction rating and they have a 1 star rating, big surprise there.
Won't ever buy from them again.
I only asked for HALF the delivery fee back! No- $20 and too bad...
I bought 2 pieces of furniture. I made sure they knew exactly where it needed to go before purchasing. $170 for delivery. They brought the first "lighter" item in, the second "heavier " piece of furniture never even came off the truck.
The delivery guys said no way. $20 dollar refund? They agreed to a service, complete half of the service, but will only refund $20. I Would have not purchased if they didn't tell me "we will deliver it ".
Now I have to pay another delivery for the furniture with a company that will stand by their agreement. You are just a name on a mailing list to them.
This was a personal purchase but be sure, I could have gotten whatever I wanted if I went to my Contractor Rep.
I already cut my Contractor Card in half.
The everyday customer is what keeps the company going.
Bought a washer at Menards with a 5 year protection plan. Allstate apparently pawned this warranty off to some no name company called Amynta afterwards. They sent a tech out a few times and never fixed it. Now they're saying it exceeded their limit and they're no longer liable. I'm upset with Allstate for not sticking to their agreement. I have to buy a new washer (and dryer so they match) even though I have a warranty. Menards really needs to look into what companies they go through.
If you're shipped the wrong items, you email them and they ask for pics if the products. Did that. Then they say it was a store that fulfilled my order so they're going to forward my email to them. That was 15 days ago. I've opened a new case but haven't heard back from them on that either. This is no customer service whatsoever.
Do not order anything on menards.com
Ordered a bathroom sink and it was the ugliest and extremely poor quality product. Could not send it back, had to return to the store and got charged 25% restocking fee. Nowhere in my order it said "special order" or that I will get charged 73.00 to look at their awful product.

Frustrating and confused. That's about the only way to explain this Menards store anymore. Before the pandemic hit this store had experienced and informed employees that knew where every item was at in their section and if you needed advice they would gladly help out with useful information but it seems like all those workers were let go and replaced with inexperienced people that don't have a clue about anything in the store. I would imagine it was done to save them money because keeping long term experienced and knowledgeable employees costs money. I go in and ask where I can find a certain item I'm thinking will work for a specific project I'm working on and the employees haven't a clue what I'm talking about and have no interest in helping. It's a shame that Menards would ruin something good just to save a few dollars.
Tip for consumers:
Do your research first and know exactly what you're looking for

Menards in Forsythe Illinois has a large sign as you enter the front doors. "You are expected to wear a mask". If you don't have one we will sell you not for 89 cents. 100% of the employees and customers were wearing one and I was very comfortable shopping there. I appreciate their commitment to shoppers' safety.
Bought my kitchen flooring and cabinets from Menard's. So busy it took a while to get to a designer but once we did the designer took time to show us selections and answer the many questions we had. Pricing was outstanding. Checkout for a first-timer takes some getting used to. Be certain to pick up your rebate slips before you leave the store.
Delivery fulfillment was not too good. The delivery team (outside contracting) was wonderful however, store gave us one date then changed to another. Then store cancelled the delivery due to weather and never told us. Following day they only delivered 1/3 of order and one cabinet was damaged. Day after, we thought we had it all but found out one cabinet was still missing. Delivered after the weekend. Had to cancel the installation for the scheduled weekend.
Overall, it was pretty good and the kitchen looks fantastic!
Menard's rebates are a scam. If you need to return anything (without the receipt) and there has been an 11% rebate (always is) then that 11% is deducted from the value of the lowest price offered for that item. I do not give them my business anytime I can avoid them even though their prices are better (usually) and their selection is better just because of their return policy. If they want my business call up my history and credit me what I paid. You could also get a long way with just a percentage off rather than those stupid rebates. (Most places stopped with the rebates back in the early 2000s.)
South Lansing, MI. The fat blond's watch runs fast so get there early and I guess plan ahead for the toilet handle to break because if not, when you get there at 7:58 she'll be rushing to lock the door as you're two steps from it. I could have been in and out before 8:00 really happened. Add this to slow lines at regular hours, skeleton crew cashiers (4-5 people behind the counter/standing at the exit talking...), disinterested and unqualified floor staff. I go here because it is the closest and I shop twice a week, not anymore. $#*! Menards. Lowes and Home Depot will be getting my business from now on.
Tip for consumers:
That Menards sucks.
