I am used to shopping at Lowes or Home depot, both 15 minutes from my home. But now I drive 35 minutes to Menards. Why? How about being able to find a person when you need help? And that person generally knows the answer. Their wood is head and shoulders above the other two and is also cheaper. I recently needed a single 4x4 to finish up a decking project. Menards was a dollar cheaper, the post was better, and I got an 11% rebate on it. Did I actually save money driving an extra 20 minutes? No. But sooner or later it becomes the principle of the thing.
I drove an hour to try to pick up an item listed on "Ray's List." The snotty employee snorted when she brought up the listing and basically said I shouldn't expect to find it in the store because it was listed over a year ago. Apparently there's no system remove items from the list once they've been sold. What a joke.
I placed an order in store for an item to be delivered to my home by late April / Early May. I have called and called being told the "vendor" has back-ordered the item and I just needed to be patient or get my money back. Well, after being super angry, I decided to "be patient". Here is it June and I call to see where my delivery is. Guess what, it is sitting on their dock. Do you think they call me... NO! On top of that, I now need to prove my delivery was paid for or come get the merchandise. What a load of crap. I bought items at Home Depot about the same time and waited 30 minutes longer than expected which prompted the management to act quickly, giving free delivery and no-hassle refund for my time. Menards is a joke and their employees need to be taught what it means to care about the customer. Do not order from here, in fact, just go to the more reliable box chains. At least there, you are a human.

Been waiting for a number of rebates sent to Elk Mound, WI. Starts by telling the world "Rebate Offer"( in other words, take me) then placing a.66 stamp, and then wait, and wait, and wait. Not anymore Menards, its Home Depot or Lowes or Ace, any where but Menards. At check out you get a rebate receipt, (to mail in) why doesn't Menards just let me use that receipt the next time I would go to Menards? Instead of a stamp and an address labeled, "Just take me nobody will know." Really stupid Menards! By the way I can't prove this cause Menards has all my rebate receipts, less of course one would look at my credit card charges.
We bought a heavy duty tarp and you can see right through it. It has holes in it. They call it heavy duty? John Menards is a joke he screws people for money. The quality is not there nothing at Menards's is standard more like sub standard. I refuse to ever buy anything at Menards nor would I recommend them even if it was packing peanuts.

We purchased a double garage door from Menards. They got all the parts we needed, loaded it onto our trailer, we drove to exit the yard, the second person checked our merchandise to see that we were leaving with what we paid for. We got home, and three boxes were the oak/ walnut, one was white. Customer service says it was our fault. I agree. We should of never shopped there. Incompetent people.
We called the Lancaster ohio store about placing an order online and picking up in store we were able to do so well my elderly grandfather was needing a few things so we order order get it paid and he heads up once we received confirmation I called store again to make sure items would be pulled for him and he would have help loading it into his truck I was assured on the phone he would... he gets home and no they didn't help or have anything other than light items ready and he had to pull and load everything on his own

I ordered a bathroom vanity on-line. They advertised a good price and a nice rebate of $80. What you don't know is, you get the rebate AFTER you pay and it's really a gift card towards an in-store purchase. Since I live in the next state, I can never use it. Also, after I paid, I was advised there was a $197 trucking fee. So, I had to pay that as well. When the cabinet arrived, the delivery guy said we should have paid extra to have it brought into the house. (A service I was never advised of), and he left the 300+lb. Vanity outside for my son to bring in the house.
Then, we discovered that one of the legs is substantially shorter than the other three- so I have to get a carpenter to fix it. I wish I could rate them with minus stars. This is really the worst company I have ever purchased from.
I spent over $800 online shopping with Menards. There were shipping issues with 2 items and they never arrived. I contacted customer service over a month ago about my issues, and multiple times since then (have already been charged for everything). Have yet to receive any response at all other than the confirmation that my request was sent. I have also called the shipping departments where the items were supposed to be shipped from directly. Last week I was told from the shipping department it would be handled and I would receive a call, surprise. No call or updates. I called again today and was told again that I would receive a phone call. Losing faith and really hoping not to have to dispute with credit card company. Will never order from Menards again, can't believe I can't even get a single response despite all my efforts to get this resolved.

I ordered a rigid vinyl stair nosing, and some idiot folded it up multiple times and jammed it into a tiny box! Now it is permanently bent and creased and is NOT usable! This has to be glued and you can't even get it back into shape to where you could even glue it!
To make matters worse, you cannot call them. You have to email them with any issue.
I am a contractor doing a job and now I can't use this item. UNBELIEVABLE!
So far no one has responded to my emails.
I ordered my smoker online, it was shipped to me and every part except the legs were bent out of shape, it looked like it had been dropped from a truck. Menards told me to buy another one and ship the damaged one back and if they thought it warranted it they might refund the cost of the first pit. These people are terrible and they don't care much to put things right.
My story is that we were at the store to purchase a product and that the items we wanted were not carried at that store. The Menard's associates advised us to de a special order. We attempted to return the item and we advised of the 25% 'RESTOCKING FEE'. Here is the real issue: The item was available for purchase from menards.com and if purchased there it could be returned. I politely pointed this out to their "customer service' department and was told bluntly that their is no refund on the restocking fee. Only callous and poor business practices would say my future business was not worth $45.00. I'll never shop there again.
Customer service is surprisingly very poor and can only reply via email. No phone numbers to call to corporate after bringing my issues up at the store with the store manager. The main number operator and store managers could care less if I take my business elsewhere. That I will!

All i can say is I will never never buy from Menards again, I had a 11.00 rebate, I know not much, but the post office lost it, never got it, i requested to have it cancelled and resent. Once I got it, The inconsiderate crooks took 6.00 bucks of the check, Never have I seen something so ridiculous, Home Deport or Lowes would never have done such a selfish thing. I purchased drywall from Menards recently and am very unhappy about the quality. It crumbles too easily. I compared it with a piece I had from before pandemic (top). The new (bottom) drywall appears to have too many air bubbles in it. After scoring and snapping, the edge is all fractured. Since I was in the middle of my project and is only 6 sheets, I am hoping it will be ok. I have two full sheets I am going to return and I will never buy drywall from Menards again since they obviously have no quality standards in place for their products. And I'm a faithful customer, who will re-think where I go when I need quality materials.
This chain is the absolute worst. Banning kids from your store? What the heck is that about. Talk about age discrimination... if they banned any other age group, there would be lawsuits. Then you go full blown mask nazi and allow employees to harass and threaten customers? How is this chain still in business? If you love yourself and your family, stay away from any and all Menards.
Do not use Menards to deliver appliances (a dryer) in my case! I was unaware that the dryer did not come with a power chord so upon delivery gave guy 25.00 to get said power chord and dryer vent to hook it up. This took place sat about noon! It is now Sunday evening 6:30 pm delivery person said he would be back today at noon to finish installation of dryer... well guess what no call or no sign of person to come back to finish! Paid 100.00 for delivery and now I want to return dryer and have to pay another $100.00 for them to come back to pick up! Nope never again will I be giving Menards of Battle Creek MI anymore of my business

I ordered 4 32oz cans of gas mix.i ordered it online because my boyfriend could not go in at get it. Surgery so I thought I would save time.but it took me longer to get it. I had to walk all the way back to receiving at pick it up.they had no bags back there to put them in. But this is not the end then I had to go to a register to check out my order so it gets registered that I paid for it and picked it up.yep another Waite I might as well gone in shop myself and saved me time. Well I learned my lesson no more online order from Menards. It may be it would work if it's is a large order and heavy so they can load it. But don't get small orders. It may not be like this in all the Menards. They need a better system for online order.
We have shopped Menards, because of the 11% rebate. Normally, we do get the smaller rebates when we buy smaller items. This time, a big rebate was due and somehow it got lost. The manager said there was nothing he could do. Bad customer service. If Menards makes the promise, Menards should stand by it. They use Rebates International and push the blame on them. Bad business in my opinion.

We purchased all the lumber for our deck. We sent in the rebate which would would have been sizable, and somehow it disappeared. No one can help us. If Menards cannot stand behind their 11% promise, should they be allowed to advertise it? I know it 's a different company that manages the rebates, but Menards makes the promise. Terrible customer service. They simply don't care and it would actually benefit Menards to help us get our rebate back!

Delivery 2 weeks late.
40% of the product (lumber) delivered was destroyed/unusable.
Had to send email (only way to communicate with company) informing them within 3 days. Acknowledgement of receipt of email by company (automatic response). 3 weeks later no further response. No way to contact them. Repeat emailed complaint got immediate electronic acknowledgement with complaint reference number.
Project had to be scraped because of delay in shipment and destroyed product.
No way to reach the company.
Took the full price money. Sent the product late and destroyed. No recourse since you can't contact them.
ZERO STARS. Stay away!
Menards in Lebanon, Indiana - The workers in the main store are great, but the short guy cashiering and the FOUR managers waiting at the front treated customers terribly! Don't shop here unless you want to be bullied and shouted down! I'm going to Tractor Supply from now on... they are actually nice to their customers.
Watched a manager scream at an elderly man, telling him to get off the property... menards doesn't need his kind there. This poor fellow who could hardly walk asked to be admitted to the service desk (which had NO customers at that time) and not wait in the line to get in. The young lady called for a manager and he came out and stood almost chest to chest with this elderly customer (NOT social distancing... infringing on this elderly man's personal space) and YELLED at this poor fellow. After spending $10,000 here to remodel my home, I will not spend another cent here. Home Depot and Lowes have professional employees who really know there stuff. Boycott MENARDS!
Make sure you keep your receipts on stuff you buy cuz in-store credit is half of what the product was that you paid for it I gave 26:98/ 4 x 4 x 12 treated and got 13 99 back in store credit when I return two of them without a receipt so just so you know keep your receipts everybody
Absolutely terrible customer service! Purchased $2900. 00 order of siding material that website said was located 3.5 hours away. Since it was a discontinued item, I decided to rent the trailer and make the drive. Staying overnight in a hotel, to boot.
Get there and was told that even though the website showed they have the siding they do not and don't really count inventory. Store manager said he would not assist in getting material even though there was some available from distributor. Had to then go and get a refund from customer service taking more of my time.
Called corporate and they ONLY reply to concerns via email. I got a lovely email saying they were sending my concerns to the store. Never heard a word back from the store, go figure.
I have spent THOUSANDS at their stores and never had a great experience but this is crazy bad.
Never again, they have lost my business for life!
Twice in 5 minutes I waited for Menards employee to finish with other customer and twice the employee walked away. I was obviously waiting to ask a question. This tells me that beyond a Menards employee simply didn't care and chose to ignore a 'valued customer '. Find somewhere else to shop when able.

I was going to purchase this door for $29.98 until i found out that they wanted to charge me $85.00 for shipping. I say you can stick that door right up your arse. Thats ridiculous and no wonder you have so many bad reviews. Keep up the good work, this WILL NOT keep your company in business.
Went to menards yesterday! My husband is on oxygen! Lady at the desk told he had to put a mask on even if he's on oxygen! He's oxygen for a reason has stage 4 lung cancer. Has hard time breathing would been worse if he put a make on over his oxygen. We shop there a lot but not now! Will never go back! We can go other places and they say nothing to him with his oxygen on and no mask
