“Great service, products and prices”

Charlie B.
2/8/23

I am used to shopping at Lowes or Home depot, both 15 minutes from my home. But now I drive 35 minutes to Menards. Why? How about being able to find a person when you need help? And that person generally knows the answer. Their wood is head and shoulders above the other two and is also cheaper. I recently needed a single 4x4 to finish up a decking project. Menards was a dollar cheaper, the post was better, and I got an 11% rebate on it. Did I actually save money driving an extra 20 minutes? No. But sooner or later it becomes the principle of the thing.

“Ray should be fired! He can't manage his list!”

Paul S.
7/23/24

I drove an hour to try to pick up an item listed on "Ray's List." The snotty employee snorted when she brought up the listing and basically said I shouldn't expect to find it in the store because it was listed over a year ago. Apparently there's no system remove items from the list once they've been sold. What a joke.

I went there today and last weekend, absolutely no one to help you in garden area. We were going to buy bricks but went elsewhere due to terrible customer service. No one in the brick or garden area to help you. If you happen to find someone, they don't help or get you help.

11 percent rebate. You are not saving on what you buy to get the 11 percent store credit rebate check. You are saving on what you buy with the rebate check. Yet they always advertise that this is the price you get the item for after 11 percent off. You get nothing off what you buy to get the store credit check. They need to stop saying 11 percent off everything. You get nothing off what you buy. Once again you get 11 percent back in store credit and you then save some on your next purchase.

Great selection... BUT Customer Service is Poor at best... One CS person tells you one thing and another CS person you tells something else when get to the store. NEVER EVER Buy Gas Powered equipment from Menards The item was defective right out of the box. 10 days old, now that you put gas and oil in it to find out if it works... Now it become non-returnable at Menards... Never again...

I shopped at Menards today and was ran down and was told I had to wear a mask to shop and if I didn't have a mask that I would have to purchase a mask for a dollar, are u kidding me, first of all its not the law to wear a mask so how they gonna tell me I can't shop if I don't wear one, second of all, a dollar, u can buy the same exact masks online, 50 masks for. 44 cents, so they're making $46.56 off of every 50, wtf, well until they change that policy I will take my businesses business to Lowe's or Home Depot before I wear one of those annoying masks again or at a dollar for it, who makes money off of people during such a hard time with this pandemic, its all a sham for them to make money, what a disgrace, and not long ago they were charged with price gouging, damn ur some crooked s. O. b.'s!

My buddy and I went to the Peoria IL store to take advantage of the 15% off sack sale. Two employees coming towards us were chatting with each other with no acknowledgment of us passing them. We were in the electrical department looking at can lights. We were right next to the help desk, and there were two other employees standing there chatting with each other, and neither of them bothered to ask if we needed help. If I wanted to be ignored I would go to Wal Mart. At Lowes they ask if you need help sometimes, but at Home Depot a clerk will be on their was somewhere and will greet you and ask if you are finding everything you need. They are great at customer service there! Menards is abysmal! I only go there if I can't find things elsewhere, which is rare. I don't see how they stay in business.

Tip for consumers:
Shop elsewhere!

Terrible all the way around. Not sure if it's COVID related, or lack of decent workforce or maybe a combination. Not a good experience from any department. Where do I start?..., poor customer service, exchange is a nightmare even though they shipped the wrong item, damaged special ordered products, wrong special order products delivered, poor follow-through, etc. I would not go back if it wasn't for trying to use up the 11% rebate vouchers. I feel as if those are free money that I would be throwing away; but it might be better for my mental health in the long run... The past 6 months has been absolutley terrible at Manchester, MO location. Home Depot and Lowes are having their issues as well, but they pale in comparison to my experiences at Menards.

We waited 6 months for an order we placed with Menards, the products NEVER came in- the store said they could not give us our money back, all they could do was a store credit. They quoted the 90 day return policy; for a "return" would you not have to actually give me something? So Not Only did they not provide us with what we ordered they then kept our money so that we couldn't go get what we needed anywhere else.

Tip for consumers:
Don't Shop Menards! "SaveBigMoney" just means waste time and money and then have to drive somewhere else to actually get the project done. I personally suggest a store with a military/veterans discount, which Menards also does not offer.

Products used:
We had to go somewhere else and they had the items to finish our deck project in stock.

Went to Menards today. I was denied entry for not wearing a face mask even though it's not governmental mandated. They then proceeded to charge me a dollar for a mask. So in this time of crisis, Menards (a billion dollar company) looks to profit off the patrons it still receives by charging a dollar for a mask. Unbelievable. Extremely UNAMERICAN and against my constitutional rights. So tired of big corporations taking advantage of small business owners like myself. Needless to say Menards will NEVER get another of my 'DOLLARS".

I was a cashier for about three weeks until I actually couldn't take my position anymore. If you are a cashier at Menards, you are not allowed to sit or move, you literally have to stand there in the same spot for 10 hours a day. You get A SINGLE 30 minutes in the day to take lunch and even with that they FORGET to send you on break. I had to ask for several bathroom breaks just to sit down. I quit after about three weeks because 6 am to 7 pm, standing without being able to move anywhere else while a manager also taking the squishy floor mat from under my feet, and only getting a half hour to sit down, I hope any employee at menards says $#*! it and leaves for good

Was at Ontario Ohio Menards and due to health issues I can't wear a mask, the employees harassed me the whole time I was in the store. I went in got what I needed then the workers denied to check me out all because I can't wear a mask! I have it all on video, the mall cop ended up calling the real cops on me.

Mask required. Charge $1. Refuse to go into a place we aren't allowed freedom. Went to Lowe's and was not required to wear a mask. Home Depot did not require mask and had great customer service. Won't be going back to this store.

Don't buy Magick Wood Elements from Menards!
We ordered a 48 inch vanity through Menards on Feb. 1 from the company Magick Woods Elements Ashwell 48"Wx21"D Gray Bathroom Vanity Cabinet. It was supposed to be delivered Feb. 18. Feb. 18 came and went, and my husband called Menards every day after asking when it will be delivered. There was a point person who finally got in touch with Magick Woods only for them to tell us they would ship it March 10. This means it wasn't even assembled! March 10 came and still no vanity. We finally cancelled our order! Beware of Magick Woods Elements provided by Menards. Menards should hold the company's they source from, to standards. No customer should have their whole timeline skewed because a company Menards sells, doesn't bother to even make and send the product.

Ordered composite woods decking materials. They dilevered half of it damaged. Called on May 27th and they ordered a backup for the damage decking. I was told it will take one to 2 weeks to get. Till now I didn't get anything and after calling the store in Homer Glen they send an email telling me that my back order on June 20th will be in in July 5th! They are lying because my back order was on May 27th. I bought about $20k of materials and that what I got, very bad service. I'm

I order a wall fixture, once received we realized it was not able to turn on and off based on motion, so we try to reach out to Menards. The DO NOT HAVE a customer service phone! All by email, after 3 weeks they told me they would allow the return and will issue a refund minus $18 Fedex shipping and a 25% restocking fee, for a $27 lamp.

What a joke, buy via AMAZON, same items and all can be returned without a hassle. Menards NOT recommended

I went in to Menards today for only the second time and was told that today was the last day that I could come in wearing a bandanna for a mask, "for the safety of our employees." He then said, after today, I have to buy a mask if I came with a bandanna to come in. That sounds like discrimination if you ask me. People make homemade masks and can wear them with no more safety for the employees than me wearing a bandanna mask. They then require you to purchase a mask from them to come inside. Pay the troll his dues. The least Mendards could do is offer free masks if they think the mask you came in with isn't working just as good, without any medical evidence their masks are protecting their employees any better. I'm not going back to Menards and would hope others follow my lead.

I shop at Monona WI they have the worst management I have ever seen any place. They are extremely rude
I've been shopping there since they have opened. I go in there several times a week and spend thousands of dollar there a year I have yet to have any management personal say even 1 word to me, even if I say hi to them
Employees are decent for the most part. The only reason I shop there is because it is so close hope a Lowes or Home Depot will open up that close to me.

Saturday as I felt the need to purchase a house plant as my first plant. The plant was priced for 44.65, I said well it's the only plant I can probably afford. And the plant had dried leaves and soil it was the only one I wanted to purchase. When I go to the counter I asked for a discount as it was half way dead and the lady said no. I was like not even 10percent she said no. I am disappointed because plants are a need inside everyone's home and Mr, Menards should be able to understand that a little discount could have saved the dried plant that I wanted to purchase. I was not happy with this experience and hope no one has to go through what I experience with the plant that is not being watered or cared for.

Waited more than 8 weeks to receive my rebate. Only to find out after making numerous non toll free calls to be told that they never received it and probably got lost in the mail, Can't be serious. How many other customers did they use this excuse with. Wanted me to mail copies to an address. WHY don't they issue the 11% discount when the customer pays for their items? WHAT A JOKE. They figure that half the people will not bother with the mail in forms or else forget about it entirely. WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN.

Mask Nazi's, a constant in Traverse City, MI. There could be not one person within 50 feet of me while shopping and an employee will come up and tell me to put mask on. Aren't CDC recommendations to mask when unable to socially distance 6 or 3 feet, whatever the latest is. WAKE UP everyone. Viruses go thru cloth, surgical, N95. It takes a hazmat suit to prevent a virus.

We used Menards in KC, MO for our new countertops. They sent 3 wrong templates (not our fault, mistakes made by the warehouse) and then when they sent the actual countertops, our island was wrong, again, their mistake. The manager, Justin, came to our house to see for himself, and they were wrong and it was their mistake once again. The manager promised us he'd expedite our countertops and they would deliver,(we had to rent a truck to pick them up and have our contractors at our house to unload and install) set up and take the one that was the wrong size back, all on their dime. Our countertops were NOT expedited and once they came in, they will deliver them, but they are saying it's on us to pay to have contractors once again at our house to set it up and get the wrong one loaded on their truck. We will NEVER use Menards again after this experience.

Yesterday, I went to the Oakdale Menards to look at roofing shingles and coordinating paint for my home. My son was with me. We shopped and picked out the ideal shingles and paint colors. Unfortunately, a sample of the shingles I wanted didn't have a sample board on the floor. There was a shingke sample way up on the wall. Lucky for me, Mark came along and asked if we needed help. I was reluctant to ask, but thought, why not. I explained I wanted to see my paint samples next to the shingles on the wall. Mark immediately said he could help me out. It was amazing. Love the combination of paint with the shingles, firmed up my decision to get the shingles and paint for my home, that got last year's hail storm damage. Many, many thanks to Mark for being there for me when I needed help. Great service, you are the best.

If Icould give them a zero I would. Nails
All over the driveway you end up with
Flat tires. They do nothing to
Compensate you. Another incident I
Purchased a brand new refrigerator
From them with cash. Got it home it did
Not work. Immediately ( next day)
Notified them, They told us we could not
Return it to the store. We had to have it
Seviced three times in order to get a
Refund. That's just their policy they said.
Sure enough three different times after
The service guy came out and said it's
Irreparable all 3 times... Got it back to
The store and they said now we can only
Give us an instore credit, because it had
Been over 30 days. Which by The time
You have the service guy come out say
It's broken,wait twelve hours, See, it's
Still not working, then called the service.
Guy wait another week for him to come
Put. Etc. It had been 32 days only
Because The service guy had made 3
Different appointments in that monthand told us from day one that it was
Defective. Yet they only wanted to give
Us an in store credit instead of our cash
Back. Over $1000. I'm sorry, but nobody
Is going to tell me where to spend my
Money and it definitely will NEVER be
Menards! I did not leave without
Getting my money back let me tell you
That. Unfortunately, it's not the innocent
Workers but the higher ups. Menards
Listen up. WORD OF MOUTH WILL
BANKRUPT YOU!

Verified purchase

There is a tight time window for you to mail in your rebates. Small purchase with less than $1.00 in a rebate? Menards is counting on you to no even bother.

FREE MONEY FOR MENARDS! Rip off the customer on every small purchase. Might as well have a bucket at the manager station for pissed off customers to donate all their 67cent rebates to the CEO to have another martini out on his yacht. 11% Rebate signs in store are a slap in the face to the customer making a small purchase. Once you figure this out, you stop smiling when you walk in those doors because you KNOW you are about to get scammed.

Tip for consumers:
Home Depot is just as lousy as you are.

Products used:
something small, it doesn't matter. What matters is I'll NEVER get my rebate - it costs more to mail it in than I would get back, all because of that window of time closing in faster and faster. Go ahead keep my 67 cents and go out on the town, see a ballet, have drinks on the yacht while you laugh at the little people and probably try to rig elections along the way. Rich people games.
