I use ROOTSMAGIC 7, recent update triggered links to MyHeritage where £90 was demanded for access to FREE CONTENT found on Ancestry and FamilySearch sites as well as others!
Not something I want or need as WORLDWIDE member of several sites.
Still no refund, will file chargeback against MyHeritage merchant.
Site is very weak, uninteresting... just about charging for every service.
Email harassment is unbelievable, forums and facebook report Scam and fleecing accounts of vulnerable, elderly and disabled.
STAY AWAY, DO NOT PROVIDE ANY DATA, as harassment will ensue.
Also, number of trees are riddled with errors, as seem to be trial trees with guessing vs, proven research. Wasted time.
P. S: Consumers: if this company charges without permission or refuses refund request a CHARGEBACK against MyHeritage and it's merchant... or as over £100 file section 75. Breach of contract. No company likes this, as it is a recognised mark against them.

Following this review, I was contacted and provided Full Refund. They're unsure why RM7 sent me to their site, but according to RM7 its an ongoing agreement and users must select research prefrences to use or ignore. As new user I was very unaware of new feature.

No question, I love the software as it allows me to cooperate around the world with my family members to build a great family tree. If you have a question, their support will respond in a friendly and timely manner, but don't take anything for granted.
Whilst their success gives you access to a lot of family trees, it seems that this huge data collection is slowing down their features. Hence, they created a new policy without any customer communication or forewarning in January. The result: They do not allow instantaneous syncing between your online tree and the Tree Builder software on your computer once you reach a certain size. In turn that allows you only uploads to the website and no downloads anymore, thus all changes you or any family member makes online will be lost. So forget your laptop, your tablet, mobile app, auntie Mary's or cousin's John input. Any change that is not made directly from your home computer using the Family Tree software will be lost. Interestingly, this only punishes long-standing, premium paying customers with a big tree, whilst new customers with small trees maintain all features. Figure out the marketing sense of that!
So if you have only a small tree, I highly recommend MyHeritage, but if you pay a premium for their Premium software, make sure you don't grow your tree too big, because the most important features will disappear. Also be warned that you are with an organisation that may make spontaneous decisions that only suits them. They don't treat you as a family member, but a dummy they can milk for money. You will not asked anything, except to upgrade or to buy additional services. And yes, there is no notice that your annual subscription is due, they simply charge you.

We have recently found out that very frequent tree sync operations between Family Tree Builder and MyHeritage, for very large trees, can cause performance degradation issues for many users on MyHeritage, due to database load.
To improve the experience of using the MyHeritage service by all users, we have set a sync policy that limits the frequency of tree syncing based on the tree size.
You are however still able to edit your family tree online from any computer or laptop or smartphone whilst on the move so long as you log in to your online family site.

MY original complaint was two fold: Myheritage would not load. Had to re-install. EVEN the backup GED files were deleted preventing using my tree! That's 2 hacks in such a short time! Not going to check others until I attempt to use them. I told you about the double even triple reboots I did to get back to normal. Plus, I had 10 trees and needed to delete 9. That was the first response to solve by you.
What I have learned mostly by my own indirectly is one issue I have is trying to use more than one computer to access builder and online site by my desktop and my PC laptop. Now, I am not sure what must be the proper operation actions considering this. It seems sometimes I must again import my latest GED file to continue as each time I try to use builder it wants me to attempt to load a file which is an old one having 2699 relatives whereas the number is 2723. Basically, I was able to recover from my previous problems but not a form of confusion continues each time I use either builder or access the online site.
Judging the assistance I received did not approach to solve my issues in a logical structured way. First, I complained I could not function with MyHeritage. That was my primary complaint. Second, was the issue having 10 trees and I didn't want that many. They contacted me the first time only referring to the multiple tree issue which was minor. Later, a different person attempted help. Then one suggested another method which did work in allowing me to function with the builder program.
I feel the aid I received was rather haphazard. Courteous. Friendly. But not comprehensive. They didn't really ask questions to learn possible personal actions such as using 2 different computers.
It wasn't until SOPHIE? Put together a well thought out multiple action plan which was what I had expected to be proposed from the beginning.

I joined up on a 21 day free trial. Unfortunately, I entered an incorrect email address, which I did not realise at the time.
On the site, I requested access to a restricted family tree, but received no response. After some time, I found the incorrect email address in my account details, but could not amend my email address. The password had been sent to the incorrect address I had given and I had no access to alter details on my account.
Since I had received no response to my query for access to the restricted information, I decided to cancel my account at the end of the trial period, and rang the number given on the MyHeritage website. After pressing the option for account enquiries, I was tele-prompted for my password, which I did not have. Thinking laterally, I chose the option to open an account instead, which produced a live operator in very short time. This lady, Pauline, was a joy to deal with, and dealt with my story with the utmost efficiency and politeness. The account was cancelled as requested, and I then agreed to an extension to a new indefinite free restricted account.
I am impressed with the amount of detail available on the MyHeritage web site for the research I have done. Even the freely available information is surprisingly comprehensive. My fears of possible account mishandling were allayed by the courteous efficiency of the operator when contacted about my problems, and I intend to take up a paid account to access the full range of their information once I have settled down a bit.
In short, MyHeritage.com have a comprehensive data base with masses of information, and their support staff are extremely good at their job; very helpful and efficient. I have no hesitation in recommending them.
