Magan provided competent and pleasant customer service. She patiently listened to my questions and comments and then gave clear and understandable explanations that were very helpful. Magan did not rush the conversation to make sure my concerns and questions got the appropriate response and then concluded with a complete summary. What a pleasant experience!

Sent in my kit on October 16th, and I keep checking the status of it online regularly and it still hasn't been received at the lab? And it says It will take about 3 weeks to get results once it's received by the lab? I didn't pay $80 to wait about 2 months to find out my results.

Dear Ashley,

I can totally identify with how discouraging it is to wait for DNA results and I will do all I can to help.

Waiting for your results is estimated at 4-6 weeks but under various circumstances, it may take longer making it 8 weeks once our lab receives your DNA sample.

DNA research is a very popular gift idea and we currently have a high volume of DNA test purchasers. Each kit is given extra attention and care to ensure our DNA research community gets the most accurate results.

To track the status of your DNA kit, please do the following:

1. Log in to your site with your registered e-mail address and password.
2. Hover over the 'DNA' tab and click on 'Manage DNA kits'. Click on the three dots on the right-hand side of the DNA file and select 'Track'.
Here you will find information about when your kit is shipped to you, received at our lab, and processed.

I'd be happy to personally track your kit and give you more detailed information on its development. Feel free to e-mail me at rafael.vipsupport@myheritage.com at your nearest convenience.

Sincerely yours
Rafael

MyHeritage sent notice that my kit wasn't registered when it was. When I got the results it indicated that the kit belonged to a Hispanic woman and the DNA results are no where close to my heritage. Spent numerous phone calls with representatives trying to resolve the issue. Long wait times. Never got the issue resolved.

Myheritage has been very useful in setting up our family tree. We had notes and Excell files, but now we have everything arranged into a single source, and it's easy accesible for everyone.
I love the reminder e-mails it sends with birthdays and anniversarys!

I submitted my DNA testvwith a relative, she got hers back in the stated time, although compltely inaccurate. Mine never arrived, multiple emails with no answer. But the sales department called incesantly, even after telling them multiple times to stop calling. Do not deal with these people, in my opinion it is a complete scam.

Sent my kit in at the end of Jan but never received any emails etc which should have rung alarm bells but have been too busy to chase, eventually chased yesterday, 7 weeks later, and its turned out that i missed a character off of my email address, my fault and the customer support person AlonL I spoke to was great, very helpful and got it all sorted. However the next day I received an email telling me that my 1st sample cannot be read, maybe incorrectly done? Done exactly the same as the 2nd sample which they are now using at "no extra cost"! I shoud think not. They have now told me it will take another 3 to 4 weeks! So about 9 to 10 weeks in all. Hope its worth it..

After seeing an offer on facebook for Premium subscription for $82.50, i paid for it on March 2,2017. Almost immediately, i started receiving emails several times a day. Since i was limited to the amount of information i could research with the Premium script, i decided to upgrade to Premium Plus. One of the many emails i received offered the Premium Plus script for $93.12 and stated that if i upgraded, it would refund the $82.50 i paid at first. That was on the 5th of March 2017. Still cannot get all info on my search. Still have not received a refund. And i am still getting emails wanting me to pay $119 to get access to military, census, obituary, Etc. It is a ripoff. I have learned a life lesson. If you want to research, go to the library.

After an initial three-day wait, I received prompt, and generally credible, responses to my question about how to work-around an inability to download my web-created family tree of 4491 persons to a computer-based proprietary application, Family Tree Builder. Answers to my multi-part questions weren't always comprehensive, but they were at least provided. My main beef is with the application itself. Syncing both ways should be a snap. Unfortunately, it wasn't. In the end, I had to make some compromises that require a major duplication of work. MyHeritage could have done better developing its applications.

My program isn't working properly in that the Smart Match feature has stopped working. I phoned to get help with this and the person I got did not know what the Smart Match feature was. Considering it is a main selling feature of the program I do not know how she was competent to provide support. I spent sometime explaining in detail the smart match feature and explaining how mine wasn't working. Eventually she said she would send an email to the programmers. Not much help.

Due to not reading the T&Cs closely enough last year when I joined I erroneously signed up for an automatic renewal and was quite upset when I saw that an amount had been taken this month. I contacted Bobby at customer support by email and he couldn't have been more helpful. The money was rapidly refunded. If I did need an ancestry website again I wouldn't hesitate to use MyHeritage.

MyHeritage DNA results have now been duly received indicating my originate regions. Unfortunately Haplogroups and Mutation were missing in your results. You should definitely benefit by adding these values onwards. The lack of data prevents me from updating the Local Swedish Haplogroup Database. Marietta friendly confirmed your considerations to add the requested values, which is most appreciated in particular if you are able to send these separately to my attention.
In general MyHeritage provide a hugh amount of ancestor data. Likely a large number of users have exported their data from other sources. Interesting to find that more than 20 researchers share my ancestor back from 1715. Receipt of all the smart matches have been highly appreciated.

/Göran

As an update my daughter has now had her DNA results back. She is 98.5% North and West European. This includes 13.7% Irish, Scottish and Welsh DNA but 0% (Zero) English DNA. She also has 1.5% West Asian DNA. She shares 26% of her DNA with her Grandmother who, according to MyHeritage, has 100% English DNA (not even British).
I have been told that my mother's DNA results are correct, they have checked them and they are good. Can anyone explain my daughter's results to me given that this is the case?
Seriously puzzled but my daughter's results do show French / Russian heritage that my mother's surprisingly does not. She is not impressed - was her father just having her on when he and his mother spoke French to each other? My daughter is clearly her Grandaughter but they don't have the same heritage according to this company. DNA companies rely on trust, you trust them to read, and interpret the results, but my experience has shown this process is flawed and unreliable.

MyHeritage Support T. – MyHeritage Rep

Dear Tess,

Your concern is understood and I'd be happy to clarify.

MyHeritage compares your DNA with the DNA of living people around the globe whose genetic ethnicity is known. In doing this it is found that DNA of populations of Europe's neighboring countries is similar.

We currently keep our Ethnicity Estimate on a higher regional level in its beta version as it is challenging to build a distinct profile for Great Britain and Scandinavian countries because those populations are admixed with Western European DNA.

As you may know, Anglo-Saxon people settled the British Isles, and they were comprised of Germanic tribes. This means that their DNA is similar to the DNA of nearby regions. It is, therefore, possible that you have a family tree with generations of relatives that you have proof that they were born in Germany, but the Ethnicity Estimate shows British or a Scandinavian ethnicity instead.

With regards to a grandmother not having the same ethnicity as a granddaughter, please note that the percentages of DNA a person receives from his ancestors at the level of the second generation (grandparents) and further back are not necessarily divided evenly in each generation.

Each of us inherits 50% DNA from our mother and 50% from our father. However, the percentages of DNA received from grandparents and further back are rarely divided evenly. Therefore, you don’t necessarily inherit the DNA of a given ancestor throughout the generations that have passed.

Therefore, it is possible that one great-grandparent may have passed on 3% of his/her DNA to his great-grandchild, while another great-grandparent may have passed on 11%.

This might explain some surprising results in your MyHeritage Ethnicity Estimate. If for example one grandparent is pure Chinese, and the other three grandparents are all pure Italian, the grandchild may be anywhere between 0-50% Chinese, and 50-100% Italian. However, the probability of a person having only one pure ethnicity is very unlikely. This might also explain why some siblings may inherit certain ethnicities, while other siblings may inherit the same ethnicity in another percentage, or even may not inherit this ethnicity at all.

All in all, new and exciting information can always be found along with your estimate by utilizing the research tools available to you such as building your own family tree and finding comparable matches whether they be Genealogy or DNA matches.

Our match algorithms have been proven to automatically find and compare similar DNA strands along with ancestral surnames, records, and family trees to find very interesting discoveries. New DNA is uploaded every day and the chances of that new information to match your research are great and it has helped many worldwide.

Finally, I want you to know that the progress of your research is very important to all of us and therefore, please e-mail me directly if you have any further questions or requests at rafael.vipsupport@myheritage.com.

You are already my first priority.

Sincerely
Rafael

I am disappointed with this company. The response to my previous review was almost instantanious. Mainly as this seems to be a somewhat standard response. However, I contacted the person who replied to my review and have not had anything back.
I would like to iterate that 100% English is lazy and ridiculous DNA profile. To be 100% untainted English (not even British) you would seriously have had to live your life in a rural cottage in Somerset marrying your cousins. (sorry Somerset).
The explanation they gave is just nonsense and I have seen, on this site, that they give this stock response to just about anyone. I can kind of understand that if you come from South America you might just have South American DNA (although even then I would expect some southern European DNA in there) as that place is massive with loads of countries. England is tiny in comparrison and to have 100% English DNA is just nonsense. I am still waiting for a substantive response.

I got this DNA kit for my mother and have just got the results back. No detail, nothing. 100% English - there is no such thing.
My mother's father was French, his mother Russian. The family resemblance is very strong - so definitely her father. What is 100% English anyway - someone who lived in a cave under Stonehenge for the past 2000+ years?
Told us absolutely nothing - what a complete waste of money.
If you think you get a sophisticated break down of your origins - We didn't.

I feel like I wasted my money and have my cancellation date on the calendar. I feel like you tempted me then deceived me. I do like your free option and whish I had stayed with that but I can't print anything unless I pay! Won't recommend you guys.

On 22 September I was charged 137 euros for a subscription I didn't make and I couldn't find how to cancel it. I don't need this subscription, I didn't even do a DNA test, it's useless. I wrote many letters to get my money back. I was unable to contact support. They keep texting me asking me to choose one of the three options. I want to return the entire amount of 137 euros, but nothing happens, no one returns the money to me. And I really need to return the money, because I am a refugee from Ukraine.

I wasn't able to sync my online family tree to my Family Tree Builder. After some email back and forth, with me trying to fix the problem at my end (with very clear instructions from my support rep Yoel), he asked if we could set up a TeamViewer session. This was a little tricky because of our time difference (10 hours between Canada and Israel).

During our 1-hour session together Yoel took charge of my computer and finally got the problem resolved. I really appreciated his patience and diligence. He was also a very clear communicator.

I was very pleased with the service I received--the only reason I didn't select five stars was that it took so long to get the problem sorted out. I first sent my MyHeritage notice of the problem at the end of July and finally got it resolved on Sept 5.

My late husbands family are ALL from Italy. Some from the middle, Umbria and some from Naples. My Granddaughter and I did the MyHeritage. I myself a bit excited to see where 'my life' tracks have been leading to now. I'm adopted. I, as was my Granddaughter were excited to see her results and to see the Italian %. When 'I' saw NO Italian %'s anywhere, I was confused. I called and talked to JackO and he was a HUGE help in explaining it all to me. Needless to say, as I also explained to my Granddaughter, she was still thrilled to see the diversity in hers. Her results went back 7 ethnicities, where mine only goes back 5 ethnicities, so far. BUT, he is a real gem and was very polite, didn't make me feel rushed and fully explained away all my questions and concerns.

I phoned MyHeritage with 2 problems and my call was answered immediately. A DNA re-assignment quickly worked. However, my 2nd problem was a little outside the norm as, when managing spouses I had inadvertently hit a clock icon which said 'permanently make latest marriage first'. This mucked up the report on this family. Itai did the same at his end but he could undo, I couldn't so he was able to send me an update which solved the problem. Itai was patient, pleasant and understood the situation. Lots of thumbs up.

I emailed Heritage several times about printing out results. It is not my printer. I hit print and pages come out blank. I ask about DNA results no response back. My Mother is 100% Italian and my Father is Irish-Scottish- Welsh. DNA states I have almost 25 % greek. I ask my Mom and other relatives they said we have no Greek in our background. I had cousins who are my blood relatives on the Italian side come back with 46 % Italian no Greek, I feel this is an error. I guess I will have to have the DNA test done again with another site.

Dear Brian,

I'd actually be very happy to assist you with printing your results along with giving you more information on your ethnicity estimate.

I've actually come across many Italians that share greek DNA and this estimate does not necessarily mean that you are not half Italian. We give you an estimate of your ethnicity, meaning that the results might be influenced by migration patterns and may not entirely represent your actual origins.

It is a verifiable fact that DNA ethnicity is not evenly divided throughout the generations and some of your family can inherit more of a specific ethnicity than others. Moreover, it is found that people within surrounding countries in Europe share common DNA for various reasons such as people moving around frequently and official borders and communities being occupied.

There is verifiable historical evidence that Greeks established many colonies around the Mediterranean and Italy and Greece have been in contact for centuries. Therefore, your estimate doesn't necessarily mean that you are not Italian.

As you may know, there is a noticeable genetic difference between Northern Italians and Southern Italians, with northerners being close to the French population, while southerners overlap with both Balkan and other southern European populations.

I'd say this is worth researching and I'd like to make mention that along with our estimate, many of our members benefit from other research tools we provide that is integrated with their DNA results such as DNA matching, ancestral surnames, and comparing matching family trees to help understand their family story.

I'd be happy to give you more insight on how you may research this further and assist you with printing your results. Please e-mail me from your registered e-mail address at rafael.vipsupport@myheritage.com at your nearest convenience.

Warm Regards
Rafael

My experience with the support from My Heritage was superb and my issue was fixed with the eventual assistance of Maya in Israel.
I had lost all of my data and photographs which was a disaster.
Maya sent me instructions which were easy to follow and within a short time all of my information was recovered although my photographs did not appear which is not a problem and they can be recovered from another file.

I cannot speak highly enough of the support group who were both professional and respectful and that made my experience that much better.

Thanks again
