No reviews match "My advice, do not give this company you DNA. I was born in Iceland and I sent this company my DNA and it came back that I was 62% British. According to this company I'm 0% Icelandic, even though I was born there and so were both of my parents. I told them this was impossible which is supported by the fact that I have no British relatives. I have nothing against the Brits, but the fact that for centuries people in Iceland could not even leave their county without permission. Let alone could hardly anyone leave Iceland itself. I sent Heritage.com the fiber of my existence and got nothing in return. I also wanted to find out who my great grandfather's father was through DNA, since that has never been relieved and no one knows. Instead I get sent info of the same known records of the same relatives over and over again. This company is a total fraud. They only want you DNA. What I should really do is sue them. I wish I could give them zero star, so take my one star here as a no star.".

Dear Ella,
I'm sorry to read your low star review and to find you were disappointed with your ethnicity estimate.
If I understand you correctly, you were discouraged with a large amount of British DNA in your estimate while you Indeed know that you were born in Iceland.
It is true to consider that people in the British Isles have been in contact with Iceland for centuries. Indeed there is some archaeological evidence of a monastic settlement from the British Isles at Kverkarhellir cave, on the Seljaland farm in southern Iceland.
Another important factor to consider is how DNA is found to be very similar between people in neighboring regions. Where there isn't sufficient statistical difference, we keep the Ethnicity Estimate on a higher regional level. Even when there is a statistical difference between ethnicities, it is true for the population's average. Your DNA will always be slightly different than the average population and therefore may show a small or a significant part of neighboring ethnicities.
All in all, your feedback and overall satisfaction is always important to us as we are invariably looking to better our genealogy experience for the millions of members that use our research tools and purchase DNA kits.
I would be more than happy to assist you with researching your family roots in Iceland to find more about your common DNA percentage with British ethnicity and also give you more insight on how to research your great grandfather's father using the research tools included in your membership.

Maya was extremely helpful in showing me how to add my daughter to the MyHeritage login that I had set up for myself. I appreciated her not being rushed because of the backlog of callers.

I love using Myheritage for DNA chromosome matches and comparisons. Much better than ancestry where you can't see the specifics.
The only thing I wish is that I could sort my matches by cm's shared.

I had to phone My Heritage tonight because of a problem that was of my own making. The person who answered was SO HELPFUL. My problem was solved quickly (and I did not have to wait very long at all for the call to be answered).

As a new subscriber to MyHeritage, I needed help installing the program (i. E. exporting my tree from Geni). I have only praise for Maya who was extremely nice, but who gave me only formal info, to which I could have had access anyway. After a period of adjustment, in which I managed to understand by myself how it works (or doesn't) I gave up and asked for a refund which with the help of the same wonderful Maya, I received immediately. A pity such a nice person is representing such a bad enterprise. The problems I encountered were the following: 1. The very large family tree I have on Geni could not be exported in full. (even my husband, in-laws and their branch of the tree were missing. 2. I thought that at some point someone would suggest a possible match and by confirming that it is the same person, they would be automatically added to the tree. 3. Indeed, I got several mails saying "good news! We found matches' To my amusement the matches were found by MyHeritage IN MY TREE IN GENI! 4. BUT - in order to add them, I was prompted to UPGRADE my subscription, in other words to pay more money for something I myself have created! So, that prompted me to give the thing up altogether. Which I did.

Hi Otilla,
I'm sorry to read your low star review and I regret to find that you feel like giving up your research.
I wouldn't give up and I do think that this kind of issue can be resolved.
If there is missing information on your tree, our match algorithms are designed to comb the web to find it by locating matching relevant information. Research tools such as these has assisted many in the Geneology research community to find new information and exciting discoveries.
In your case, it seems that our match algorithm has located your separate Geni account with that e-mail you received. We do give the option to ignore such matches and moreover their match source by simply clicking on the little x on the right side of the match.
With regards to your Ged export, Indeed, Geni and MyHeritage are two separate entities. Geni promotes the research of a "world family tree" and connects your research to it while MyHeritage focuses on individual Geneology research.
That said, when exporting a GED file from GENI, there may be limits to the GED export depending on your Geni membership and the amount of blood relatives. Note that MyHeritage doesn't have any of these type of restrictions with GED files and one may export any data you uploaded create even with the free MyHeritage basic account.
I recommend contacting Geni directly for assistance with exporting your husbands relatives as well.

Do not use this DNA testing site. You cannot contact them. They are "closed for lunch" 24 hours a day. I paid $78.00 U. S for this scam... I feel so stupid I did not check the reviews first!

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT EVER BUY their DNA kit. They never shipped mine. I have this tracking number from DHL which was ongoing for about 2 weeks. And after that, they suddenly removed the tracking number. +++ YOU CANNOT CONTACT THEIR SUPPORT ASAP. They have a useless Contact Us section on their website! How I wish i can rate this with 0!

I'm the first person in my extended family to live in the UK. Going back through 400 years of our family tree no family member every lived in the UK and a few emigrated to the USA in the 1800's. Guess the surprise to be told that I am 84.5% English. Utter load of nonsense. They clearly take your address, look at your family tree and base their findings on that. Or they look at where most of the 0,02% of matches now live. The results they then submitted to me only show partial matches predominantly in guess where,... The Netherlands, where my family has been based for over 400 years and a few matches in the Anglo-Saxon world. I only moved to the UK about 30 years ago. I can't imagine that in those years my genes have adapted to being English and scrubbed off 400 years or 84.5% of my Dutch heritage. This is either a complete mess up by MyHeritage.com or they have no idea what they're doing. If they base this number of the people alive with a partial match in genes, then it's understandable where they get that figure from. But to say that the offspring of a direct ancestor who emigrated to the USA 200 years ago and procreated successfully has an impact on my genes is a bit far fetched.
Our own research indicate that we're from the Bask country and a direct ancestor invaded the Netherlands with the Duke of Alva in the early 1600's. Can't find that back in the DNA results. Perhaps he did a detour via Finland, as indicated in the DNA results.
I would not have let my genetics analysed by them if I had know how inaccurate they were. As I said, a complete waste of money.
Tip for consumers:
Look at other DNA testing sites first before you use this lot.

Hi Anthony,
I regret to read about your negative experience and I will do all I can to help.
We do have a 24/7 hotline but it seems you have had trouble getting to a live person. I totally understand how bothersome it may be to be unable to contact us and I sympathize with your efforts so far.
The issue you describe most likely happened because when you set up the E-mail address for your registered account, it was incorrect or unperceived as the e-mail address you expected to use.
In any case, I would like to investigate the issue you report in more detail and assist you with logging in, viewing your results to progress your DNA research as soon as possible.
Please e-mail me directly at rafael.vipsupport@myheritage.com so I may verify all of your correct information and assist you with this with high priority.
I'll be looking for your e-mail.
Kind Regards
Rafael

"My child wanted to do research. Had difficulty with the so called trial and billing last year. And as a kid, she did not turn off auto renewal. Don't forget to have your kid turn off auto renewal! My kid did not and was charged $175.12. Even though I caught it early, they were only willing to take off $61.29. Not good customer service. Will never use them again."
I wrote this review and Dean P. From myheritage.com left a message to contact him. He stated to send an email from the myheritage account with his name in the subject line and he would get it. So I did. This failed miserably. I received a generic email from myheritage.com customer service. I did this twice with the same result. Then I private messaged Dean P. From this site. He responded immediately, and stated he would look into the situation. The first answer was not what I was looking for, and after another email stating what I did want, Dean P. Stated he would look into this for me. A couple of weeks passed, I private messaged Dean P. Again from this site. He stated that he was working on it, and he was waiting for a response from the billing company who handles myheritage charges. I am happy to say that a few days ago I received the balance of the money originally charged. Thank you Dean P.

I have been a subscriber for MyHeritage for several years and find the site extremely helpful te develop my family tree. Without MyHeritage I would not had the success I have had and am having. Using MyHeritage and Family Tree DNA, I have been able to trace my family tree back to Ireland and prove my being a descendent of the "Three Collas". Recently, I had several technical issues that needed support. I contacted MyHertage support and Jonas aided me in correcting all my problems. One of the features I am impressed with most is the "Publishing" feature. Using this feature, one can produce an outstanding family tree book. I would recommend MyHeritage to anyone attempting to develop a family tree.

My Heritage Support.
Dear David
I appreciate your product and your company, and I have enthusiastically referred my family and friends to your company. This is the first time I've called for support for any technical issue, and I am relieved to have received excellent customer service. Good people and solid values still exist!
We would like to thank you for the extension, and I will be on touch with you before the renewal date to ascertain the best plan to continue our relationship.
Talking briefly about My Heritage Experience it really has really been an exciting and enlightening experience to have signed up and explored the avenues and lives of both my wife's and my family.
My wife's family go back over 200 years to Russia and Ukraine and history repeats itself with the situation there.
My Family, on my father's side to 1150 Worms, Germany.
My Mothers side 1600 Finland. Unbelievable. Nobody was aware of this history!
We are really hooked on MY HERITAGE.
Looking forward to talking prior to the renewal date.
Kindest regards and thank you.

Myheritage is almost a member of my family. I mean, if I miss a day of poping into the site I feel like missing someone. It is exciting to build the tree and of course the new information through the smart matches. Though I still wait anxiously to find someone of my mothers family who perished in the holocaust, I am thankfull for what I found.
It is almost a year now, when I got a letter through myheritage from an unknown person. She is Catholic, she writes, but her father was a Jew and related to me. It took me by surprise but when we got into more details we both found missing persons in our family. Her father was my father's second cousin. He never told his family about being a Jew because of the fear in the ww2.
We continue to be in touch.
Thank you myheritage.

Is the company headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel or Lehi, UT? I read several reviews that the Customer Service phone number was 'no longer in service' then on another the reviewer said a CS call was ultimately received from Tel Aviv. Also, This site shows Lehi, UT as the HQ but doing a Google search up pops Tel Aviv.
Bottomline, do I want to put my genealogy on this site or not??? Thanks for any input.
Sincerely,
Wilting Prairie Rose

Hello dear team,
I am very bad in writing. But I couldn't resist not writing to my heritage about my experience.
Lately in August I had a DNA test through my heritage as I ordered my kit and sent it to the lab. After less than 4 weeks I got my result. I was so happy.
Then one day going through in my application I have accidentally deleted all my results.
I contacted the support team they were so kind and replied to my email immediately. I was really surprised for the quick answer. After few mails Ms Mayra got me a solution to send me a kit to re-do the DNA test again. For a reason Mr Imri took over my case and assured that the kit will be sent.
The team really surprised me how much it means to satisfy the client.
I really can't thank them enough for their support.
Yours,
Inas Hashem

My experience so far with MyHeritage.com has been great. The website gives you so many tools with which to explore and document your family history in so many ways. Since researching family history can be a monumental task, MyHeritage breaks it down into smaller, more manageable steps for the everyday person to understand.
My most memorable experience with MyHeritage staff was after Christmas 2015 when like everyone else, I had an enormous amount of debt I had to catch up on, including the website subscription. I did not have the money to renew the subscription, and in a last ditch effort to save all the research I had made, I contacted MyHeritage staff and explained my situation. They completely shocked me with understanding and empathy - they extended a short grace period to allow me to pay my membership.
I was, and am, absolutely elated! Before beginning an on-line family tree, I researched all the family tree websites in order to make a prudent decision. The first of course was Ancestry.com I've always been the one to give the little guy a chance first, so I made a decision to go with MyHeritage - and I'm glad I did. I'm sure that I would not have encountered the same quality of customer service at the competition.
I recommended MyHeritage to anyone! The biggest is not always the best!
