I am new to researching my Family Tree but have already found the site very user friendly. However, when installing the new Version 8, I discovered my Anti Virus software blocked the upgrade because it was so new that Norton hadn't yet tested it. I overrode this anyway but then found I was no longer able to sync my data. Dean at MyHeritage Support was a huge help and soon had the problem sorted. Next, I somehow managed to duplicate my project. I phoned Telefon Support and spoke to Freja who was so patient and supportive that soon this issue was also fixed. Great website and excellent support staff!

I am and have been for some time a full member of MyHeritage.com. When ever I have needed to refer to them, I have always received a prompt and professional service. Their Family Tree Builder programme is the the best I have come across.

I was not on hold too long, and the lady I spoke with was nice and courteous. She was knowledgeable and professional. She was patient with me and all my issues and she helped me to get my adoptive daughter on my tree. I am so excited about MyHeritage and wish everybody in this entire world would take a DNA test. Next step I would love to see all companies offering DNA would somehow work together so we could all share results.

Mailed sample from GA to DNA Analysis Ctr and it took 8 weeks - they said!
Seriously? I can understand a couple of weeks but never 8 weeks. In that time frame I could have sent the sample to the moon and I know our trusty Mail Service has it's faults, but I'm not buying this story! I'm done.

The Family Tree Builder works fine to display both biological and adoptive parents so my question was why I not get it to work when I published my tree to the web.
The answer I got was the web-version did not handle that function. I understand the answer, but believe the function must be useful for many more than me. So why not work on that function?
The response I got to my question was quick and polite so that works very fine.

Dear Bjorn,
Your feedback is appreciated. I'm unsure who you spoke with, but, I do know that the online version is compatible with showing biological and adoptive parents by all means. Perhaps you might be having a sync issue.
In any case, I would like to investigate the issue you report as soon as possible and help you with showing both biological and adoptive parents online. In order to do so, I'm going to need to locate your family tree.
Please e-mail me personally at rafael.vipsupport@myheritage.com so I may look into this and help you as soon as possible.
I will be looking for your e-mail.
Happy to help
Rafael

Could not change the e-mail address for one of my site members listed. Though the family site had the correct e-mail address, the site members area did not. I could not change it. I believe the member had a personal MyHeritage site also and used an e-mail address that is no longer being used. As that member listed the e-mail address I was unable to invite her to view my family site. Got it corrected via calling in for help. Received an invite shortly after. Thanks

I was having trouble activating two DNA kits. Melissa was helpful and patient and worked with me until I was comfortable that I had done everything correctly. My password wasn't working so we established a new one. Very impressed that I received a confirmation for each DNA Kit almost immediately. Thank you Melissa

Had what was called a free trial for 14 days from my heritage. I was told that they would inform me when the time was up. They did not inform me and just took the money out.£58. It was impossible to get to speak to a person whatever I tried to do nothing worked. That was in September 2022. I decided that this was a company not to be trusted. However when I spoke to my building society I was told that I had to cancel in case they take the money out again this year. When I tried to cancel i could not remember my password or even remember using one. This is certainly not a good company

My wife, who is without any question, 25% Osage American Indian, received results that had her 88% northern Europe and the rest spread out over southern Europe and South America. They detected not one drop of the Osage DNA. I think they just toss any results in. Looks like a massive scam.
Date of experience: November 24, 2017
Dear James,
I regret to find your low star review and will do all I can to help.
I understand your wife's results do not show any Osage American Indian although you know she is 25%.
Currently, the issue of Native American ancestry not being included in one's DNA is actually a fairly common one in the world of DNA research as a whole because of several different factors.
Each of us inherits about 50% DNA from our mother and 50% from our father. However, the percentages of DNA received from grandparents and further back are rarely divided evenly. Therefore, one may not necessarily inherit the DNA of a given ancestor throughout the generations that may have been of a specific ethnicity.
For example, because an ancestors’ DNA is not passed evenly to their descendants, one grandparent might have passed on 3% of his/her DNA to his great-grandchild, while another great-grandparent may have passed on 11%. This demonstrates how one may have a Native American great-grandmother, but have inherited such a small amount of her Native American DNA that it cannot be traced in a DNA test.
Therefore, If your Native American ethnicity does not appear in the Ethnicity Estimate, some researchers will recommend you consider testing one of your parents or grandparents as it is more likely that Native American DNA will be traced in the generations closer to the Native American ancestor.
In addition, though you might have Native American DNA, it might belong to a tribe that has not contributed to DNA sampling and references. There are more than 500 recognized tribes which are ethnically, culturally and linguistically diverse. However, the majority of these tribes have not contributed their DNA for research purposes which would allow science to establish better ethnicity models.
We have proudly referenced 42 ethnic populations and this number will be growing even larger because of our own Founder Populations Project — one of the largest of its kind ever conducted. Our current amount of supported ethnicities is vigorous compared to other popular genealogy research companies and this can be verified online by all means. Not only are we researching more ethnicities, our DNA database is robust and is constantly growing as we give the option of FREE raw DNA upload from other popular autosomal DNA test providers.
The good news is we offer tools such as DNA matching and genealogical references to allow one to research this kind of thing further. Though determining one’s ethnicity based on DNA is a relatively new field of genetics, great advancements have been made in the past years, but there is much more to discover. I can assure you that MyHeritage is on top of this and we will continue to work on improving our Ethnicity Estimate along with developing better tools based on your feedback, new scientific research, and discoveries.
I'd personally be very happy to assist you with any questions you may have on your research. Please feel free to contact me anytime at rafael.vipsupport@myheritage.com from your registered MyHeritage e-mail address.
Kind Regards
Rafael

I created a typing error in my registration in my email address. Therefore, I got registered with an account under an incorrect email. The professional person that took my call got rid of that account and enabled me to have an account under my correct email. All was done quickly and politely. Thank you.

While adding browser's to my computer, I somehow created a "bogus" family tree and did not know how to get rid of it without wiping out my real family tree. Customer service walked me through it effortlessly and I'm now back to my real family tree!

It took me more than half an hour, to be attended at the telephone. I called because I do not understand how to manage the kit. There was no translation and all I wanted was a translation. I also did not understand if I have to put stamps on the envelope. The girl did not know how much it was. She could not tell me how to use the kit. I do not understand why My Heritage works in other countries when they have no facilities for other lenguages. I really regret that I put myself into this situation.

Dear MyHeritage Member,
I am sorry to read of your experience. I absolutely understand how frustrating it is to wait to speak to a representative and I will do all I can to help. Our aim is to avoid long wait times and we absolutely value every single one of our genealogy researcher's questions and request for assistance. I hope that you will allow us to make up for this disappointing experience you have reported.
Regarding your issue of activating the kit, information on how to activate your DNA kit accompany the kit and can also be found on our help center. Instructions can also be found here: https://bit.ly/2I6FR9H
To ship your DNA sample, place the two vials in the clear plastic bag included in the kit and close the ziplock. Then, place the bag in the enclosed addressed envelope. You may also use a padded envelope of your own. Mail the envelope to the laboratory at your postage expense. The postage price depends on your local postal rates and shipping type you choose. The weight of the padded envelope with the two vials is 10 g.
If you have any further questions, I would be more than happy to assist you. Feel free to email me at shane.vipsupport@myheritage.com
Kind regards,
Shane, MyHeritage Team

I bought a DNA kit from MyHeritage back in May and had problems with the processing in general. After reading a notification, that they had problems with the sample and were not able to process it... they gave me a result 3 days later, which is kind of strange. They also changed the date of arrival at the lab in the timeline, which actually can´t be. Later on it was in processing the next day it wasn`t... etc.
I really wonder if anything went wrong... and if there were problems with processing it... why didn´t I get an email?
Actually it should be fun doing that stuff, but I am really a lil bit disappointed about the way it went -> not really trustworthy... seemed a lil bit like: we are trying to process the sample even it`s poor instead of writing an email and give the possibility to repeat it properly. At least I got that impression... anyway their call center is super friendly

Dear Hannah,
Your feedback is important to us as we are continuously working on improving our DNA test experience.
Waiting for your results is estimated at 4-6 weeks but, indeed, under various circumstances it may take longer once our lab receives your DNA sample.
That being said, I totally identify with how discouraging it is to wait for DNA results as I, too, have gone through waiting for my own DNA results only to find it was worth the wait, as "all good things" tend to be.
We currently have a high volume of DNA test purchasers and each test is given individual assiduity to ensure our DNA research community gets the most accurate results.
If you have any questions, please e-mail me anytime at rafael.vipsupport@myheritage.com I would be always happy to help you.
Sincerely
Rafael

While initially it was a bit hard to navigate the support site and get support via email rather than a phonecall it worked out well in the end. I was flustered by the phonecall and there was a misunderstanding. However thanks to a superb customer support rep I was given the service I wanted. I have no hesitation in using MyHeritage and will be recommending it to friends and family.

If you don't cancel BEFORE the 14 days are up, you will be responsible for the ENTIRE amount. And it's not that easy to cancel online. You have to call them.
Otherwise, it's a great site and much better than Ancestry.com.
