I searched for resume templates and this site advertised as free. Once information is entered, it requires a credit card for a $2.25 charge. What wasn't obvious (later found on the proof of purchase email in the small print) was the "automatic" $23.95 per month charge that comes from the previously entered card. Unfortunately for me (fortunately for this company) I saw this on my card statement three months later.
I love MPR! I finally realized that something had to be wrong with my tired, old resume since I wasn't getting any interviews, so I decided I could use some help. I love the easy way each section is approached and the tips along the way. I actually feel better about myself (and my job prospects) since completing the resume. There were words and phrases suggested for skills and accomplishments that I would have never thought of myself. **The customer service rep I spoke with was named Marcos. He was courteous and very helpful.**
Although Lenny was very professional and courteous, he liked to do more of the talking rather than listening and wouldn't simply take my request and leave it at that. So I ended up bargaining a deal that I will still have to call to adjust another day.

I gave 4 stars because I didn't realize this was a paid service until I tried to print. However, $2.95 is fair for their really useful site for building a resume.
When I started to print, I realized that the resume was a little over 2 pages and there were some formatting issues in the last section. I called the help desk and they answered immediately and completely fixed my problems. Really really good customer service. I worked with a woman named Aliz Hernandez (fabulous) and a guy whose name I didn't get because we were cut off. Very satisfied.

I fell for it, I paid $2.95 for a two week trial, but the next day I try to download a resume but I was redirected to a page to pay again, this time asking to pay 23$ for a two week trial. I reached out to customer support so many times and they are all very shady, I was told my bank denied the trial transaction and I needed me to create a new one. BUT it not true, my bank didn't dey the transaction, payment went through and then myPerfectResume submitted a refund the NEXT day, thats not a "failed" transaction, its not how it works!
Tip for consumers:
They are shady and dont have good ethics.

Please avoid My Perfect CV at all costs - Having recently signed up for the 14 day trial at a cost of £1.95 the service on offer is basic at best. Nothing you cannot get from standard templates readily available online. Worse still when attempting to download in Word format the templates didnt format correctly and so I had to spend 2 hours fixing the issue.
Worse still when cancelling my subscription (you are automatically signed up for a month) I was billed £23.80! I have tried to ring their helpline but have been on hold for 15 mins and have now given up.
Please avoid at all costs - Save yourself time, energy and money and go elsewhere

My Perfect Resume
I am a high school teacher that tried to teach my students how to write a resume. Nevertheless, we thought the site was free, so after the students created their resume (which had great features), it asked for a credit card. I was unaware that the card would be charged. So about 10 of my students registered for the account. I was very scared about how I would handle this. I called the company, spoke with a woman named Rosa and she assisted me in cancelling all the accounts. She was very supportive and understanding. She also walked me through how I can create one account to teach my students on resume building. This company is reliable and I will continue to use them in the future to help my students learn the skills and tools of professionalism. Customer service is excellent! You HAVE to call and cancel your "subscription" before the 14 days are up, or you WILL be charged $24.99. LOTS of people skim right over the small print, and then freak out when they are charged.

They lead you in by saying it is free, then charge you 1 or 2 euros and then after 1 week start charging you over 25 euros per month... it took me over 12 months to realise and when i did for ages they refused to refund me... then they have now only refunded me 5 out of 13 payments that were taken from my account without my permission... this is the worst thing, they ask for your card information saying nothing will be charged and then without your pernmsission start to take the monthly payments!

I was happy to use the resume builder and it help. Then I look at the job board, click on the jobs they offer, I do not like to be redirected to other jobsites (careerbuilder, monster). Then for got to cancel my subscription got hit at a bad time, (right now). I called customer service, talk too Richard and ask for his I.D. too make sure that it is cancel,... he gave me no I.D. so my next step it to tell my bank to block them if they try again.

STAY AWAY! I was under the impression that this was an annual fee. A 14 day trial with a minimal access fee ($3.95) to access the resume. Instead it turns out they bill you over $35 monthly! This actually shows up as a free resume builder through google, but it's a SCAM! After being billed $200 over a few months, I wrote to complain and pretty much received a 'gotchya' response.

I started off thinking that I was using a free resource, and it was not until I had completed my resume - after hours of work - that i then discovered that in order to access it I would need to pay! So, I basically had no choice, unless I wanted to lose half a days work...
The program in itself was very good and user friendly, but the payment aspect needed to be far clearer.

When I went to edit my resume as a Word document, for some reason the bullet points in the skills section wouldnt delete. The words by the bullet point would and the document would scroll back up again, but for some reason the bullet points stayed put.
Well I called to cancel my free trial and to get help with fixing my resume and I think I talked to Alex. He was super helpful who edited the resume on his end and fixed it to my liking. Then sent me all the different files of my new modified resume. And now that I know if I ever need an update in a year or 2 I can just pay an extra $10 for a week instead of paying for the whole month.

When you do a google search for FREE resumes this site pops up saying free resume builder. It is free to build your resume, but you can't use it unless you are willing to pay. It is a false advertisement since you spend about 10 to 15 minutes picking out the perfect template and filling it out only for the site to be like "oh I'm sorry but we are here to rip you off"

The website is very user friendly, and easy to navigate. Within each section of the resume a very detailed, well written description is offered but can be edited to personalize and tailor to your own experience. I like the "expert recommendations" and my resume turned out better than if I had paid a professional $200. I love the result.

First and foremost, be sure to call and cancel within the two weeks. They are more than happy to lower the price once they hear that you want out. If you were a sucker like me and kept forgetting to call and cancel, dont let the fast, sweet-talking retention rep get you to accept a discounted rate. Insist on a refund. If you want the service later, just call back up and THEN insist on the discount. I got $20 back out of about $55 total charge, and they offered a rate of $4.95. Get a full refund, and opt for the discount at a later date.
If you need help building a resume, a paid service can be a great tool. However, google image can give a good number of ideas and Microsoft Word has a good few templates. The main thing I got from this service was its job descriptions. It made writing out responsibilities easy by simply doing it for you; however, the scripted options were very obviously scripted and it can easily make your resume sound impersonal.

Site listed examples of how to phrase wording for my resume and cover letter. I was able to just select and drop, then all I had to do was tinker with it a little. I was amazed that they had wording examples for all kinds of careers, even specific positions within career types. I had so much anxiety and they just made making my cover letter & resume easy! I liked the pop-up tips too. What a relief and now I got a great job with that resume!

I searched for free resume and this was the first site that pulled up. At no point while filling out the information and spending over an hour building my resume was I informed of the $2.95 charge. It was not until the very end when I went to download my resume that I was prompted to put in my card information and notified it would be charged $2.95 AND if not cancelled within 14 days, another $24.95 every 4 weeks will be charged. Congrats on the bate and switch technique of advertisement. I didn't want to spend another few hours rebuilding my resume so after thinking on it a day I decided to just pay for it.
