I had a gift card for $150.00 and that money was stolen from me.
It has been a year of calling multiple times and waiting more than 1/2hour for an answer.
And how do you like a replacement card for $11.94?
The worst experience ever... SCAM!
I purchased a myvanilla card at a Speedway Gas Station here in Ohio on October 30. I went home and tried to activate online and the system was down. So I called the customer service and she was nice and went through all the steps of asking for my address, name, SSN, phone number, email. I happen to know all the answers to these questions as they pertain to my life. When finished, I was told the validation failed based on the information I gave her and that was the end of the call. A few days later I tried online activation and was able to access the input form. I put in all my information and it failed again. I even tried my previous address of three years ago. It still failed. Good thing i only bought $20 with the $3.95 fee. I think to get my money back they will charge me a fee. So now I have a myvanilla card with no way on how to use it. What a waste.
This is the worst "gift" I've ever been given. The card has been HACKED two different times. I spent months after the first hack to get the card re-instated, but It's already been HACKED again! Obviously this product is easy to steal from by thieves. I'll never do business with VGC... if someone gives me one of these as a gift again, I will immediately give it back to them. It's not worth the giant hassle!
I was given a Vanilla gift card as a gift. The first time I went to use it, for the original amount, the purchase was denied because the card has been used three times already for unauthorized purchases. Vanilla only refunded 80% of the card. That was after 8 months of very poor customer service. I would never recommend Vanilla gift cards.
I was purchasing these for my employees - what a nightmare! I am out $100 because my employee can't use the card because it was fraudulently used by someone online. My employee called customer service and was told that it was used by someone else. So I called customer service and even though I now have the card again, and I purchased it! - they won't deal with me because my employee had already called. I don't know if thieves scan the cards on the Walmart rack or what - but I will NEVER buy another one!
I only gave them a 1 because there is not a 0 option. I only bought this to make a purchase online and wanted to close it after. I called the customer service line for 24 hours with no option to speak for a rep and NO option to close the account. I mailed them a letter requesting they close my account and if I do not see any confirmation of it being closed I will get an attorney involved since they now have my personal information. This has to be a scam - I have never had any kind of account where I could not reach a customer service rep. My Vanilla is illegal.
My son got a MyVanilla Debit Card for graduation that had $100 loaded on it by his grandparents. When he was unable to activate the card online(the same system error that everybody else has reported), we called in to the 1-855 number several times, only to be hung up on. Asked for a supervisor multiple times, and finally got one(Harper) who had me attempt to guess other possible loaded amounts. I threw out $75 after $100 wouldn't take in THEIR system, and it miraculously worked. Even though his grandparents have the receipt for $100 plus $3.95 fee, he had to settle for the $75. Its almost not worth the fight, but scam artists MUST be exposed to keep others from being scammed. Enjoy your swindled $25, MyVanilla Debit Card. Now, let's hope my son can access the remaining $75 before it is eaten up in fees.
This horrid financial product is sold throughout the US military inside the various exchanges and commissaries. Unfortunately, the online access is essentially nonfunctional, serious questions posted to the many review sites for the company are never answered (see below the reviews on this page), and the approach to reloading is prohibitive if not entirely impossible for a service member *unless* they agree to a continuing direct deposit - which ensures that this company has your money every month, whether or not you actually want to make that deposit at that time.
This is a terrible financial product and everyone should stay away unless they live within very close proximity to one of the few automatic teller machines (ATM) with deposit capabilities and you need to routinely make card-based (online) purchases but do not have a debit card.
They froze my account for $ 3,000, my card is not available, the account cannot show the amount, I call every day, but no one answers the phone, no email, no phone service, freezes my funds, what a bad thing s company.
Difficult card to use in stores. Most of the time you have to tell cashiers how to process.

Recently found an old card in a packed away bag, and checked their website for amount still on.
It stated valid through 2019 on the card, but when I checked their online balance checker, it stated 'active, with $5 balance.
After trying many times to talk to customer service, they finally told me I had to pay $10 to issue new card? Lol, why couldn't they just allow existing card to be used, since online it shows as ' active'?

I've had my vanilla prepaid card for awhile now. But in September someone has tried to use it for $1. Six times so the put my card on suspension for possible fraud activity but didn't bother to let me know. So here it is end of November and I load $200 on it and go to use it and it won't let me use it. Still waiting on new card after 2 w
I just purchased this card and they couldn't verify identity through their system. I called in and they want photo Id must be in color along with the front and back of the prepaid card and copy of my receipt. If I knew this was going to be such a hassle while their holding my money hostage. Completely insane to need me to send in all that crap. Customer service is a joke. They are doing this to everyone in hopes of keeping their money and or commuting identity theft. We must all come together as we're having the same issues and get ahold of the FTC and attorney general in your states. I feel like I'm being robbed. Dont trust this place run as far away as you can.
I got a $100.00 gift card in July. Used it September 24 and had a balance of $59.52. Went to use it today and card is invalid. This was a gift given to me that someone paid $100.00. It is time someone does something about this. I want my full amount of what I was given and someone needs to pay for this. It was a gift so I do not have the receipt.
I did NOT sign up for this or any other card. I received a text thanking me for signing up. I was concerned so I called them. After holding a long time, I finally got a rep who said they cannot find a card with my name, and they cannot search by phone number. Said someone must be using my phone number. She complained that I was hard to hear, that I was typing on a keyboard. I was not. There was someone else on the call. I finally hung up. I have been receiving spam calls on my phone since.
I went on a trip and made a horrible mistake and used this card at hotel. The hotel I stated charged $100 for incidentals. Once I checked out the pending hold will be removed. Funds that were put on hold would return and be in use, now this card put hold at $120.00 yes Vanilla will do this to you! Most cards will release the funds back in 3-5 days! Not Vanilla, I had to wait 30 days! Plus the charge. 95 for every transactions

I purchased one of these cards almost three days ago as soon as i get home i tried to register it online it gave me a hard time so i called the customer service number provided on the card only to be given the run around didnt even help me they ended up locking my card asking me for reciepts my id my social all types of stuff 2 days later my card is still blocked they cant find the proofs of identity that i sent them and now the problem is with the card not my identity this has been the worst week ever these people know nothing about customer service i will never use this scam card service again the worst period!
My grandson got one of these for his xmas gift unopen, we know the family we know NO one used it. I send a dispute took several days to even get the appropriate department that was back in March i was told it would take 45 to 90 days it was a pending $ amount not even deducted. I called & emailed about the 45 day mark was told i needed to wait the 90 we are now over 90days... i sent an email no answer, called was hung up on after the rep ask for my number... called back was told they will get back to me in 48 to 72 hrs... sorry about your problem! DO NOT Buy or gift these cards. I know it takes 30 to 45 days but 90 just them using the money in their bank to get interest and they have no concern about issues. I will make sure my family and friend NEVER use this company ever!

If you call the number on the back to check your balance, well good luck. Each time you call and press a number that they give you in accordance with balance checking, they drop the call. So then when you go on the website you would think they would give you ease and you would be a few clicks away. Oh no. Either the page is down, or when I first typed the card in, it showed I had $0.00 credits. Then I refreshed the page, typed in the numbers again and finally was able to retrieve this info. Try calling their number it's entertaining to be hung up on. This occured on 12/17/21 at approximately 10:30am. I am never purchasing giftcards from them for anyone. Ridiculous! We can put people in space, but we can't figure out a dial-up balance inquiry.
I bought this card for my daughter for her birthday and loaded $400. Got home and gave it to her and spent several hours trying to activate it. They kept requesting seriously private personal information in order to activate this prepaid card. Social security numbers, mothers maiden names, etc. We got fed up with the process and told them we had our recipt and would return it to Walmart and buy a different regular easy to use prepaid card. They told us that we would not be able to return it even though we just bought it today. That they would have to refund us directly from the company on the phone. And there would be a $25 return fee and then a check in the mail in 7-10 days. Are you even serious?! This card is a scam! Do not buy it!
This is how they get money from you, you can not use the card unless your total is below the Amt on card, it can't be a penny over even if you wish to pay reminder with a different card. Good luck buying something that comes to the exact ant on card, you just have to spend less and let them have the leftover money
