Newegg has a rating of 2.3 stars from 924 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Newegg most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and next day problems. Newegg ranks 205th among Computer sites.
Highly recommended for computer parts and electronics in general. Much wider selection than Best Buy, and better service than Fry's. Very quick standard shipping, usually arriving within 3 days. I've even purchased a few refurbished items, all of which continue to work.
Placed an order on NEWEGG, they billed my credit card and without any notice they canceled my order 7 days later. I only found out after I went to my PayPal account and saw it was canceled. I will never buy from them again. They also allow resellers on their site so you never know if the merchandise is legit or new. Buyer beware...
I purchased a refurbished computer, which I have in the past and have never had a problem. I received the computer, set it up, opened the dvd drive door and could not get it to close. RMA'd it back for a replacement. The second refurb I received was also defective but this time the dvd drive door would not even open. I sent this one back, asking for a refund because I didn't want to take the chance that a third one would be defective. I received an e-mail from the company stating that the RMA I requested was not what they received so they were shipping it back to me and suggesting I go through the manufacturer. I called them and after over an hour on the phone I was given numerous excuses. First I was told that the item was tested and worked just fine. Then I was told that the serial numbers did not match. They still wanted to ship the item back to me, which I refused stating that I didn't want to take back merchandise I had already found to be defective. They told me that the best they could do was to offer store credit(minus the restocking fee) because that was the terms of the purchase. I wasn't told that when I requested the 2nd RMA and asked for a refund instead of ANOTHER replacement. I feel like I have been given the runaround by this company and I am extremely disappointed in the service I received from them regarding this purchase.
The nightmare began with a Black Friday purchase of a refurbish HP Workstation. Order #*******.
1st, they lost the unit. In house. Instead of sending another unit, they launched an "investigation". That included over a week of ridiculous stages of the investigation before deciding to send my purchase to me almost 2 weeks late.
2nd, get the nice package, open the box, and the unit had obviously been dropped, broken, and the screen was jibberish. I sent it back with RMA. Once they get it they start another multi-stage process (acknowledge they have it, acknowledge it is in the box, investigate the damage, authorize replacement, initiate shipping, after almost 2 weeks, actually send the replacement.
3rd, 3rd unit boots and runs, very slowly but runs... for about 2-1/2 weeks when it crashes and looses the boot sector. Newegg tries to shove me off to HP. Zero help. I get a boot disk, format the drive and get Windows re-installed, slowly. It runs for about 2-1/2 weeks, crashes and looses the boot drive again. Newegg tells me too bad. I decide to replace the Solid State Drive. I pull the cover off and believe this or not, it doesn't have any of the promised 16gb of Memory! 2 empty slots! I get ahold of Newegg... they tell me too friggin bad and "take it to a repair shop"! I put my hand on the Bible this is 100% true!

Ship via UPS Inovation which goes to local post office and sits. It has been there four days with no project ed delivery date
This was my second bad experience with newegg. The first was a pricey PC that came with a nonfunctional DVD player and they have refused to do anything about it other than "invite" me to to fix it myself; that situation is still being resolved thru the credit card company.
Part of trying to get thru that, I TRIED to buy an external Bluray/DVD player from newegg, figuring that would be good enough. They were selling an Asus for a lot less that everywhere else, so i paid the money and waited for it to arrive. Apparently it was an online typo or something. They sent out an HDMI cable instead of the player! No use to me, of course. When I notified them they said first they'd exchange things and get me the player. Then, suddenly the player disappeared from the website, the price changes, and in a flurry of emails I was told i was being refunded instead and that was all--no player. They acted like they were being gracious in "letting you keep" the cheap cable rather than paying for the shipping to return it.
I've told them several times I want the player but they are NOT doing the honorable thing and honoring their sales price and sending the player I paid for 3 weeks ago.
Also--they ship small machines by media mail. Just FYI--it's not media, it's wrong and takes forever.
Hi Martin,
Our team is happy to discuss both incidents with you and we kindly request that you send us a private message with your order number so that we can explore all options we have available to us. We look forward to your response.
Kindly,

I have bought many things from Newegg in the past. Have built all my home computers using their products. The system I built this time included a Crossfire twin video card system. After I was up and running I found out the Crossfire was not working. I contacted both the motherboard and video card manufacturers. After almost a week they pretty much pointed the blame at each other and was told get more of the product. Since the motherboard was working awesome I decided I was going to return the video cards and get a single better card. After setting up the RMA I talked to customer service since I had selected defective as the RMA instead of Unhappy. They assured me they would get the description changed. I was informed there would be a 15% restocking fee which I understood and accepted. After sending both cards back - almost 4-5 days later I had to get back on to support and ask them what was taking so long. The person assured me they would request a expedited return request. Today got an email that the first RMA was not defective and they were shipping it back to me. Once again got in touch with support who thankfully was able to get it changed.
I think this might be the last time I order from Newegg. For an RMA - it takes anywhere from 2-5 days to process your RMA once they receive it. Then an additional 5-7 days to get an actual refund. If there is any complications (like mine) it may take another week to see your refund. Still have not seen anything yet as I write this. Of the few things I have returned through Amazon they issued a refund within the week. Perhaps this is normal for big electronics retailers? I ended up buying my video card from Amazon using Prime. System is running perfectly.
I understand there are those out there trying to pull fast ones over on Newegg. I have been a long time customer and this is the first time I felt negative about the experience.
Hello Gary,
I’m sorry to hear about your negative experience with our returns process. I have forwarded your feedback about the processing times to our RMA Department for further review, and I would also like to further look into this to see where the errors occurred on our part to avoid this from happening in the future. Please email your RMA number to wecare@newegg.com and reference this post.

Bought a laptop (Lenovo) but it was not very good (bad display). They would not take it back without a $50. Charge. Recommend Ebay over newegg!
Hello Don! I'm sorry about the experience that you had with laptop and the return. Please send me a message with your order information so that I may take a look and make this right for you. Thank you.
I live in Puerto Rico where packages may come in 1 week but with Newegg they came in 2 days. They also have a business program.

I ordered two laptops off of new egg. Seems to be like a smaller version of amazon, but just as reliable and solid of a site to buy products from.
The first computer I received had an issue with the windows registration. I was forced to send the thing back after paying for one day shipping. I needed the computer for work and New Egg did not care. I sent it back and paid for another computer with 1 day shipping (yes, another $6K plus shipping) and told New Egg they would have to simply take a return on the computer that didnt work. They begrudgingly agreed after telling me they "usually" do not allow returns. So, I received the second computer and sent it back to the I. T. department for them to reregister all of my software and map our company drives. This is a lot of work. The new computer arrives, gets set up and is placed in my office again. Well, low and behold this second computer is missing the 2TB hard drive it is advertised as having. New Egg wants to now give me a $100 credit towards purchasing the $300 hard drive they shorted me. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS. DO NOT GIVE THEM BUSINESS. I am absolutely appalled at the garbage they are feeding me. This is borderline illegal.
Tip for consumers:
new egg would not support me at all when purchasing a $6,000 plus computer. They are worse than worthless.

Hello Craig,
I do want to apologize for the trouble you went through with your order. That's definitely not the experience we want any of our customers to have. Would you mind allowing our team a second look at this by emailing us at community@newegg.com
Thank you,
Eva [Newegg Support]
They dont respect delay time and customer service do nothing to help you its just really bad for a 2.3k PC
I got all the parts from here and put my own built together and its working great. Plus their replacement part is one of the best from my research
I needed this computer by 6/25/16 but they lost my "Rushed" order so i reordered it and when i received one item it was damaged and they replaced it no problem even tho i costed me days of lost business. Now my main problem is that i order $140 widows 7 professional cd and it never came with the product key as they claim it should've on the envelope. They told me it could be inside the box and it wasn't at all. I had to go out and buy another windows 7 because i have clients who need blueprints done at a certain time, This is the real world and there are deadlines that have to be met. I ordered this computer about 1-2 weeks ago and i still haven't been able to use it because they sent me an Operating System cd without the product key rendering the item completely useless. They refuse to give me a refund on the item when this is 100% their fault i had absolutely no involvement in this error and yet it's suppose to come out of my pocket? Its supposed to harm my business and the business of my clients? They dont seem to understand that this isn't a personal computer for leisure time its an engineering's computer for AutoCad which could be used for government jobs. The computer now works because i had to go out and buy a whole nother set of windows 7 just so i could start working. This is completely unacceptable and im at a lost for words! I can't believe a "trusted" and well known website like newegg can't take care of their customers when the fault is solely on them. I spent close to $5000 on this computer and they can't even help me out when they messed up? This is the last time they'll be receiving my money
Tip for consumers:
dont use it
Hello Hugo,
We apologize for the trouble you have had. It looks like Rella contacted you on this early from another forum with a resolution we hope works for you. Please let us know if we can do anything more to help.

Applied for the new egg credit card because it was "pre approved" and only a "soft credit" check but it's now on my credit as a hard credit check

Hello Dustin! Thank you for taking the time to review. I truly apologize about your experience while applying for the Newegg credit card. Please send me a message directly so that I can look further into this for you.
I ordered windows 7 pro from Newegg. I used econo shipping. My item was shipped (via ups) from Tennessee and went to Atlanta. First off I never got an email saying the item was shipped and never got a shipping or tracking number. 2nd I really fail to see why it had to go to Atlanta when I live in Tennessee and the truck with the item on it drives through Nashville (ups has a hub in Nashville)and Murfreesboro (which is where I live and where the package is being delivered to) to get to Atlanta. It makes no sense to me to ship it like that when all they are going to do is put it BACK on a truck to bring it BACK to Nashville to send it out for delivery. Econo shipping or not, it is a waste of time/money/manpower and it is poor customer service to ship this item in this round about way causing the delivery of the item to be longer than what is really needed. Yes econo shipping is 4-7 buisness days but I would think if your company could get the product to the customer quicker and cheaper than expected by the customer then I would think they would do it. I know the route the trucks drive cause I work for FedEx and we run the same route. Instead of getting a praising review here Newegg is getting a very crappy one.
Newegg-proper is still OK, but...
Major problems with the Newegg Marketplace. If you get cheated in Newegg Marketplace, Newegg won't help. You're on your own. Newegg is not Amazon!
Quoting their policies they told me:
"The product was sold and shipped directly by the seller. Newegg is simply a platform."
So now they're just a "platform" to send products and wash their hands of them. I thought people buy from Newegg because they offer service and assurance that things will be OK. If I got a rock in a box, not just open-boxed used goods pre-configured with someone's random password, and with missing parts, I wonder if they'd still just be a 'platform.'
Yes, Newegg is selling on behalf of other sellers, and this is not new.
I know exactly what multichannel selling is. EBay and Amazon both has proesses in place for this. You are not forced to send emails to seller and pray to God you get some sort of resolution. I did not get what I ordered. They're saying "tough luck, that's your problem, go contact the seller."
Really? Is that eggsellent service? So all the branding of Newegg goes away in my mind, unless you tread carefully and only order from Newegg. If you order from the Marketplace, well, might as well just buy it from any shady dealer because you have no dispute escalation process and they claim they're just a 'platform.'
So if you're not ordering from Newegg Marketplace, they're probably still OK. But if it's not Newegg, you'd best stick with Amazon, where they actually have a system in place for resolutions and maintain some level of customer service for items they don't fulfill. Not emails and prayer.
Ordered boots from one of their third party vendors but they were shipped to Texas, not CA where my address is. Tracking even showed delivery to wrong address. Contacted newegg and they told me they are not responsible for vendors actions on their website. The Military Trail Gear Shop at newegg refuses to answer my claim or emails.
Customer for 20 years and I get this. Someone got a nice new pair of boots at my expense. If you buy from Newegg you are on your own. So I am out $50 until I get Visa to refund me.
UPDATE:
I should have given Newegg more time to resolve the issue before crying. I never did receive any reply from The Military Trail Gear Shop which gets 0 stars.
I have been given a FULL REFUND from Newegg.
Here is the newegg email to me:
Hello Mr. Sonders,
Thank you for your email response.
A refund for $35.48 has been issued back into your original form of payment. The funds will be available to you once your card issuing bank has fully processed the refund, which may take 3-5 business days.
To further explain our MarketPlace selection, Newegg offers a program via our website called "MarketPlace" where sellers offer and sell their products thru our website. The products are purchased directly from the seller and the inventory is shipped from the sellers' warehouses, not Newegg. All item pricing, inventory count, order processing, package shipping, product return for refund or replacement, are the responsibility of the MarketPlace seller.
The order itself is placed on our website and the processing is done through our system. They do not have access to your billing information.
Our goal is that you never have difficulties when shopping with us and if anything ever does goes wrong, you trust that we will always do whatever we can to help. We will look at what happened in your case to our MarketPlace management team.
Thank you and have an EGGcellent day!
The reason why I think this site is so wonderful is because it is easy to order and it has all the information you need to be comfortable, for example: Date Arrivals and Payment Charges
Hi James! We're glad to hear that your recent visit to the Newegg website was an effortless experience! We strive to keep our customers well informed, should need any assistance or have any questions, feel free to send us an email to wecare@Newegg.com. -Ellia
I bought some SD camera cards from Newegg and noticed average shipping speed and some availability problems but it was well worth the huge savings.
Hi Richard,
Thank you very much for sharing your feedback on our shipping times. I'll be sure to forward your feedback to our management team for review. Thank you so much!

Newegg always gives me the best prices, quick shipping, and great service. Simply the best site to purchase computer components.
Bought a Cybertron gaming PC, wrong gpu was sent, asked for replacement. Now they refunded the account and Cybertron won't honor the price.

Couldn't buy the same unit due to price increase. Going to best buy.
Beware of what you buy from them, mostly refurbish stuff they sale. They have a bias feedback and jack up price. I will never buy from them anymore.
Hello Jack,
I'm so sorry to hear about that. I can assure you that is not our intention and I do want to apologize if you do feel that way. I would like to take a further look into this for you, would you be able to send us a private message with your order information?
Thank you,

They've gone down hill. No longer do they offer customer service. They want my money, but want me to do the work.
Tip for consumers:
You're failure at customer service will cost you in the long run. It cost you $3000 today.

I bought a desktop system several years ago. The purchase went well and product worked.
Fast forward to today, and newegg has come out of the other side of covid a much less hospitable company. No customer service, just a link to a forum where supposed customer experts are available for questions. That's one of the dumbest things newegg thought of doing. By the way, to the lady that mentioned their problems are due to covid, that response is worn out.
I have a custom build in a saved shared list and had a few questions before making the purchase. Well, newegg employees are not interested in helping potential return customers. That's $3000 they won't be getting from me.
I think newegg has not aged well, and smells a bit rotten.
Hello Kerry! I do apologize for the experience that you had recently with us. Please reach out to me directly so that I can look further into this for you and further assist.
Despite of the fact it was a bit better before - the shop is still reliable and good. And accepting multiple e-currencies which is also a great plus.
I placed an order with Newegg on 3/3, and noticed that Newegg hadn't even shipped it by 3/7 - so I contacted Newegg customer service to check on the status, as I really needed this part ASAP.
I used the Newegg customer service chat option, and was put in touch with somebody named "Iverson" after a short wait. Iverson assured me that my item would ship soon, and that I would definitely have it before 3/13. That is still a very long time to wait compared to Amazon, but I didn't cancel the order because as long as I had the item by 3/15 I'd be ok.
I checked the shipping status this morning, and Fedex indicates that my item will arrive on 3/19. That is nearly ONE FULL WEEK after Newegg's customer service rep promised that I'd have the item by, and is well past the date that I actually need the item by.
The Newegg CSR simply lied to me to prevent me canceling the order! I'll never deal with a company this dishonest again - the same item was a few dollars more on Amazon, and Amazon consistently gets items to me within 48 hours and has excellent customer service whenever I need it.
Hello Bill,
