After many happy years as a Streetlifer, I regretfully moved across to NextDoor. What a shambles!
I work in law enforcement, so I use a pseudonym to post on social sites - that way I can choose who I give my details to by PM. This is impossible on NextDoor. I strongly advise anyone considering joining this site to consider the implications of exposing your full name and street address on a public forum.
It's madness!
Let's take into consideration we don't know anything about the leads other then they did something fantastic in the community. Now let's look at the fact there could be a convicted sex offenders trolling everything people post in their neighborhood. Now I researched the leads and I didn't find any RSO, I did find one lead is is old likes 18 year old gay porn. Every right to view legal porn, but is this what you want to know about lead? Think again about who is watching you in your normal everyday life.
This is the 3rd time they knocked me off. Saying i do not use my real name. Last time about 9 months ago, they said i was a racist!. I video all threads i type. These people are fascist a-holes that violate their own rules. I will be making my 3rd complaint to the attorney general as well as retaining my own attorney to sue them for censorship. It must be some people that have a combined IQ of 50. Complete morons and criminals. Want to sue me next door? GO FOR IT.
There are a few people who jump in to every conversation with aggressive negative responses. I hesitate to post for fear of becoming a target. I would like to see an option to "flag" these people and give them a "time out" for bad behavior. This shouldn't be a forum that allows name calling and shaming. I will stop using Nextdoor if this isn't brought under control
Went through a domestic violence case meaning I can't disclose my address so when I was telling people I'm just getting back on my feet & that I needed help for me and daughter with household items I got harassed saying I was a scam simply cause I didn't want to disclose my address for them to bring the items. I simply was willing to meet them. I understand scams do happen but to be harassed on this public platform is unacceptable. So I took my account down and will not be returning.
SCAM. This site takes your personal info and sells it to spammers. I know this because I created an email only for Nextdoor and a few days later I started receiving spam from other companies. ND claims to be safe and secure but they're looking for money like any one else.
Unfortunately but not surprisingly, nextdoor is a reflection of the racist, bigoted society we live in. A small group of individuals is allowed to loosely apply the rules in order to elevate speech they like, and deactivate the accounts of people who speak out against racism, anti semitism, etc. It's truly depressing that the company allows this broken system to continue.
The address is *******@hs.email.nextdoor.com. Someone named "Faith" who wouldn't give me her last name was replying. I got kicked off for not using my last name, go figure. I was wondering if they have a staff that answers these emails and where they are allocated... hopefully not somehow to my neighbors.
I stopped to the grocery store long enough to purchase 1 item. It was 8:30 in the morning, 68 degrees outside and far cooler inside my car has the AC had been turned to max for the sake of my dog. I didn't feel it was necessary to put out my sign because it was so cool. Still when I returned I was met with a raging woman accusing me of animal cruelty. She proceeded to post a hateful post on Nextdoor that went of course viral for 5 days with all these crazy's who don't car about the facts of the matter spewing there hate at me. Unfortunately it has also impacted my business. It's not a matter of loving and protecting dogs. I love dags. It's a matter of people getting a hit from abusing another and done safely because it's under the cover of their just cause.
I have no idea why anyone would give nextdoor.com a bad review. Could it be that it can vary by some nextdoor.com neighborhoods? I take what I find useful and turn off notifications for any that are not. It's a way to establish a feeling of community if our busy lives.
I used to post videos of crime activity in their site from my surveillance, then I noticed that my post were getting removed, then suddenly I was not able to post anything, now I cannot even see what goes on.
I did not received any notifications of any community violations.
I tried to contact them many times with no response.
Not what I expected and Im truly disappointed.
When used properly, Nextdoor is a valuable and useful tool for members to help communicate important community information, lost and found pets, items for sale, safety and security, and many other local concerns.
I read it every day and find out what's going on the surrounding areas.
Ie problems, residents looking for recommendations on various problems or just giving information. I find NextDoor is quite informative.
The principal was good but there are many unhappy individuals who feel jilted in life and use nextdoor to complain, lie and exaggerate or try to ruin someone elses business reputation and nextdoor leads do nothing. In fact there are leads who are bullies too! Power given to losers who cant succeed in real life so they hide behind social media to make them feel powerful.
This app can be very helpful in finding pets, recommendations on restaurants andbusiness.as well as an alert to nearby neighbors on suspicious activity, crime in progress. Also glad we have leads that can take action needed when there are individuals that are inappropriate
This is the most vile of all social media groups. Nextdoor allows neighbors to threaten bully and harass each other. Leads have this percieved power that goes to their heads. It becomes a clique that gangs up on the outsider. If you complain, you get put in nextdoor jail to teach you a lesson. If you value your privacy and do not want threats throw at you, stay far away from nextdoor.
The moderators and leads that control the posts are biased and do not adhere to the guidelines established by the site. They engage in public shaming, racism, discrimination, and bigotry while making up their sown rules to hold others to. The support personnel at Nextdoor do not care enough about their users to actually police the disgusting actions of their moderators.
I've had to call Tom a total of 2 times and both times his prompt and professional service has left me nothing but impressed. If you ever need plumbing work done in the Germantown area be sure to give him a call. *******377
I love Nextdoor as an information sharing site. You can connect with neighbors in your own and in nearby neighborhoods. If you've lost your pet, need a referral or have a question about almost anything, someone can answer you on Nextdoor.
It does require some self control, good people as leads, and the best motives to fully enjoy the experience. Like all online interaction, there are always people who love to complain, create drama and stir trouble, so if you want good neighbors, you have to be a good neighbor.
ND is OK for local activities, restaurant recs.--had it 2 yrs.
If s/o goes political, I've replied sometimes, never w/insults, snark, etc.
But my account was suspended 3 days for "bullying"--which I never do online or in-person. I replied to ND, got no reply; I deleted App!
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
