Am sickened, all asked of local residents was for advice whether could keep boat/trailer in car park, turned out is privately owned by my housing company residing with, so nothing to do with Thanet Council. This site chose to close down my question, did appeal still did not allow, for what reason unknown? Have seen many people on this site had similar problems, my advice is to give it a good miss, all they after is local knowledge of who/where live?
They did not even read what I posted. Nothing was said in disrespect. I attacked no one verbally nor wrote obscene or derogatory remarks. I truly believe this site is worse than Facebook or twitter. Everything they said I violated was not accurate. Will never use them again. So for all the Karen's out there. Have a wonderful day
There is a reason why Nextdoor stock has dropped 90%. Some have blamed it on the pandemic, but the main reason is the biased removal of postings based on "community standards" which are very vague and is reviewed by unknown persons. It is simply a guise to take down your opinion if it doesn't agree with their prevailing political climate of the staff. It is a sinking ship and no clear minded investor or advertiser would spend monies on a repressive organization knowing that rewards will be minimal if any
I was really excited when I first learned of nextdoor. It allowed us to speak with one another in the local community again after the demise of local media. It seemed ideal or it could be if fair moderation was applied. Unfortunately, it is controlled by censorious political actors who want to crush discussions of uncomfortable local topics- like closed door meetings of the community council, unwise local projects, racist and exclusionary policies of local agencies. Nextdoor support is unhelpful. They simply let the moderators do what they want without any adherence to their own community guidelines. The moderator becomes the local "information czar" who can punish and censor at will.
Your review will help others learn about this website.
Please do not review if you are affiliated or have a conflict of interest with this website. Beware this site is not private. "Private" messages are reviewed by "Leads" -your neighbors and approved or disapproved at their whim and political persuasion. Read their privacy statement they make it clear they own and sell your information and have that unlimited right including law enforcement, which likely means government agencies. This may be just another tool of the NSA like agencies...
NextDoor makes Russian and Chinese Governmental censors look positively inexperienced and lacking in ambition. NextDoor apparently thrives on and promotes large scale censorship of any views that don't tow the party line. The ire of the censors is particularly extreme if you make the mistake of writing anything substantive in English and express anything with clarity. If you need your driveway pressure washed though and you're a convicted sex offender, or an escaped murderer, your post will be elevated to the top for weeks on end... LOL. This sort of extraordinary censorship behavior is consistent with the overall decline of the country and the hijacking of all media to promote group think and enforce conformity. The only solution I can see is to boycott companies such as NextDoor and especially don't patronize their advertisers as apparently that is who pays the censors.
Being banned for leaving a laughing emoji. Some crazy woman on my neighborhood app reports literally EVERYTHING I say or do on the app. Non of which is mean or hateful. I try to help in any situation. She however has been stalking me from almost day one. And the moderators see this and ban me for 3 days. What a joke!
There are many neighborhood alerts sent out by neighbors. Lost or found animals. (how nice to have all eyes helping find your lost animal) Notices of potential building in our area, strange persons lurking, personal needs or requests for advise where to go for something, and recommendations. There are notifications of special events hosted by police, fireman, and libraries. Things we would never hear about on the news and feeling closer to our neighbors.
This site does not support free speech. If you disagree with a post, another member can flag your comment as inappropriate. As far as I can tell, there is no recourse other than to private message the "leads", which is worthless.
I believe everyone should join Nextdoor.
Safety tips and alerts from police.
Shopping in your area plus others.
Neighbors giving or selling item(s).
Venue dates and places to visit.
There are really too many wonderful features to name.
Just Join Nextdoor!
Essentially, it's a community bulletin board, plus, and creates a sharing of comments and feelings within a defined area, in addition to serving as a neighborhood watch and news source. The downside is that inevitably there are residents who will moan and complain about things or each other publically, and even start arguments using Nextdoor as their buffer. And some comments made publically are highly in appropriate. Some people also tend to use it as their platform for expressing political or religious beliefs, which always create polarization.
They kicked me off without word of why. Suddenly couldnt login one day. Thought it was a technical error so I took time to try to figure it out but then my husband said he could login no problem. Its been nearly 24 hours since I asked support what is up and nothing. This is not okay! There was a guy arguing with me and he said I threatened him (I did not) and I bet he reported he felt unsafe. So they just take peoples words now? Seems unfair and Im mad! I had a group I cleaned up the streets with once a month and now have no way to contact them.
I used nextdoor business ads all summer and continued into the following spring. I did not recieve one phone call, it's beyond amazing how someone can spend so much money and not get one phone call. There is no way to problem solve this issue other then placing blame on us the contractors. I have multiple emails saying I'm not spending enough or not advertising in enough areas. Refuse to ever use nextdoor again.
We have hired Superior 1 Contracting LLC twice now and both times have been over the top happy with their work. They are professional and get the job done on-time. No fuss, down to business, great clean-up, and terrific final product.
On paper, nextdoor seems like a great idea, and even their posting guidelines look great. However, they rely on community moderation by "Community Leads", those users with high participation and lots of thanks from other users. Basically it means that the community hive-mind just reinforces itself and pushes anyone with a slightly differing opinion out. Reporting posts and comments that are blatantly against the Nextdoor terms of service often gets you nowhere. There seems to be no moderation at the top level.
I appreciate the "neighborhood" feel of this resource. Generally speaking, people use it as it was intended. While on occasion, comments can get very "high school", for the most part it is a valuable resource that makes the World, just little smaller, more connected and friendly.
The primary reason that I joined Next Door is to take advantage of the experience of my neighborhood consumers with so many types of vendors. I have benefited from some excellent service reps, techs, etc. And I have tried to provide referrals when others are seeking experience in an area with which I'm familiar.
I think we can do without the political opinions. And I get concerned for people who are continually losing their pets, but I guess that's a big help for those folks. Overall, I think it is a very helpful service.
I appreciate hearing from my neighbors. Someone even posted about my cat that was lost & I went over & picked it up. Concerns & awareness, I believe, keep us informed & social. Since times are not like they used to be, this works for keeping in touch with those people nearby. I was able to donate some computer equipment I didn't need any more to several people (one was a student learning to work on computers, another was someone who fixed them up for a learning center for their church). You can get advice, referrals, & warnings for your immediate area. I like it, even though sometimes people get testy with their opinions.
I am, unfortunately in a neighborhood in which the lead thinks she needs to delete commentary from pretty much anyone and everyone whose comments she doesn't approve of. When I contacted Nextdoor support, they sided with her on the censorship of our neighborhood news feed. I am SO TIRED of people telling me what I am allowed to know and not know about. It's not like she is removing anything mean or vile or inflammatory. She just won't let anyone say "thank you" except by using the thank you button, and she won't let a poster comment subsequently on their post because "they should only be allowed to edit their original post, not add anything in the commentary."
This app is a racket. They only want to see posts about hearing gunshots, suspicious people in the community, restaurant complaints, and every other negative 1st world problem you can find. Negativity and hate are encouraged when positivity and sharing community events that being people together are discouraged. When posts are removed for no reason and appealed only to be told they are not in "guidelines" and that they do not like people who "continuously break the rules" is a form of socialism and restriction of our right or freedom of speech. This app has left me speechLESS.
And business owners, doNOT pay for advertising. You will waste money on ads that do not get shown to anyone.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
Nextdoor has a rating of 1.9 stars from 3,047 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Nextdoor most frequently mention social media, real name and free speech. Nextdoor ranks 503rd among Social Network sites.
