I've been on this site for 9 yrs and initially the site provided information on how to handle neighbor, hoa issues currently it is a $#*! site, where folks just complain without action. And of course all the lost dogs, i have never been aware of so many lost dogs... i think it's reckless... i rarely get on nextdoor any more, unless i am sharing information civicly and neighborhood info.
Received an invite to join the app which purported to have come from my neighbour, as did the rest of the village. I spoke to this elderly gentleman this morning who knows nothing about them, is not signed up, and definitely did not give his permission, and in his words 'I would not know how to use an app', this is outrageous and sharp practice in my opinion. Steer clear.
After I realized how abusive people were and that now they knew where I lived I changed my name on there to my birth name because I was down right scared. The Nextdoor app people sent me an email letting me know that I was banned for changing my name. I changed the short version of my first name to the long version. I was asked to email them a copy of my photo ID, Passport, Utility Bill etc. I'm pretty sure they're attempting to gather my personal details. I bet we'll be hearing about something major with the app someday. Identity theft etc.
Having received an email from Streetlife to say it was closing down and inviting members to transfer to Nextdoor, I did. Big mistake. The default setting is to reveal people's complete address. The only option on offer in settings is to hide the house number. Not even Facebook is so cavalier with sensitive information! I complained and was told I would get used to it. I also noticed that the only option on offer on the site is to 'deactivate' an account. I emailed Nextdoor instructing them to delete all information held on me. To be fair, they have done so. A great pity really. The concept is good and I liked Streetlife. Maybe if enough people give them a roasting over their approach to managing sensitive data they might change their policies and attitude for the better.
I was just kicked off of this site because I entered into a left vs right discussion about face masks. I never broke any rules, but my account was canceled. If you pose conservative views, you will not be allowed to post on this site. Just another typical leftist hack site.
I have been on Nextdoor for may years in many different cities. It has been great to find out about local events and to get recommendations. It is helpful to know that the recommendations are based on real experience.
Thanks to Nextdoor I have enjoyed keeping up with the community news
It has led me to good shopping experiences, alerted me of dangerous activity in my area, traffic jams and provided me with referrals for hiring help.
Nextdoor is a good deal for me.
I've met so many awesome neighbors and local referrals this app. I always get answer fast and I'm probably on it a heck of a lot more than Facebook. It really helps you get more involved in you community!
I like using Nextdoor. It keeps me up-to-date on things happening around the neighborhood. However, I recently moved and haven't been able to figure out how to change my neighborhood, so I have kind of stopped using the app.
Nextdoor gets 0 stars: This site is terrible; I was unable to get help from Admin: I asked for help from the admin team, about getting my location updated. Instead of helping me they closed my request before the time was up. The site won't let me update my location; I have to wait 30 days. I joined to post about my missing Diabetic cat, the cat will be dead before the 30 days is up to update my location. USING THIS WAS A WASTE OF TIME!
Nextdoor provides a good place to interact with neighbors and share good news or ask questions. The difficult part is when neighbors get out of hand with negative comments. Good NextDoor leads are invaluable in managing their NextDoor neighborhood.
Mostly a great experience with neighbors helping neighbors. A few that get judgmental or too passionate in their responses to each other. Would be nice to have a polite warning to stop it before feelings get out of control
I have watched Nextdoor repeatedly remove comments that were in no way offensive or inflammatory and yet refuse to remove the most vile…the ones that fit their agenda. Deleted the app once and for all. Nextdoor is worthless.
Incredible! They actually have people set up to read through your posts. These people are not the brightest light bulbs on the tree, so they make judgment calls based on who they like and why, then delete your posts or replies as they see fit.
I love having a neighborhood page where you can get useful information, recommendations and local fun. Sometimes the posts get a little off topic and once in awhile you see some rude comments but overall I enjoy this page.
It is extremely difficult to create a business profile on the Nextdoor app. You are required to put your personal name on the profile and a face picture. Why would anyone creating a business profile wanna put their own picture and their own name on a business profile? I've tried to do this twice and each time my account got suspended and they are not very helpful after that
If you are a townhouse association... DO NOT USE NEXTDOOR! It will ruin your community if you have a few residents that have nothing to do but complain about every tiny little thing. These type of people enjoy this website to stir up issues that are false. We have a great board that keeps our property looking beautiful and under budget. I am the Lead on this site and Nextdoor will not do anything to eliminate one person that has caused only friction in our community. Our Board of Directors has even emailed Nextdoor to eliminate this one person who has cost us money! We now starting to see people in our community delete their accounts because of this one person and Nextdoor still won't do anything about it. Biggest mistake we did was to introduce this site to our community.
I paid over $400 to advertise my listings and brand listings on Next door. They branded listing and advertised for me in another State. I'm not even listed in that State. I have emailed them several times to help me to correct the situation and I have still (3 months later) not been able to get them removed. There is no number to call for customer service - by the way. Everything is done via email so there is not anyone to call.
I gave it a 3 because I have bad experiences with no one getting back to me on Nextdoor concerning me, a retiree, advertising my video and computer hobbies. I do work for many other retired and non-retired people who just want a lot less expense and hastle. I'm not getting rich off the services I offer and it keeps me occupied. But I have been reported several times and I have tried reaching out to the person(s) removing my posts, even when they were in response to a question, to no luck. I even tried going through the proper channels and never a return response. I feel I am being punished for being retired.
More of a site where the burglars and thieves get to learn about and know about innocent victims, as I have personally noticed this. Nextdoor does not manage their policy violations, and when you complain to Nextdoor about this, they attack you. Site is not managed well at all. People do ask for illegal things and the site just does not care. Really not a neighborhood site. And they sell your personal information, because I used a phone number that no one has, but now all the scammers call that number, all day long. Admins on Nextdoor are sleeping and really don't care.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
