This is to Pam H.
Had a post about reagents. It involved the failure of test kits. I explained it is about money and our company's wanting to keep the business here. I worked in the Advanced Tecknoledgy Department, of a well known medical instruments Co., for over 20 years. I never inferred I was for, or against, a private health care system. The reagents are big money markers! My post was pulled. Its OK just interesting!
I thought about signing up for this service. But I refused, even after getting an invitation. The question becomes, "what's in it for THEM?!" They do a great job of telling you basically that ALL YOUR INFORMATION is theirs to do what they want. Well, what the hell is the incentive for me? Sounds like big brother rather than a neighborhood group. AND they want to target me for advertising. I have two words for this company and the first begins with an F. Leave me alone NextDoor.com!
Posting a non-vulgar reply to a comment on this website is subject to the neighborhood leads non-subjective review. If he/she doesn't like your opinion, they give you limited access so you can no longer add a comment. This site doesn't believe in free speech and is liberal bias and doesn't want to hear a conservative view point.
This is a worthless website! You have been warned.
My experience with Nextdoor has been with the LW Nextdoor site, for the over 55 community of Leisure World of Maryland. Originally intended as a discussion forum for the residents, its Lead has become a chief censor, blocking posts with which he does not agree and removing members whose posts he doesn't care for. He would not be able to do this without the cooperation of the Nextdoor Help staff, which apparently exercises no independent judgement, responding to this Lead's complaint with out any degree of due process. Of course, the main intent of ND is not community interaction, but making money thru ad posting. Why would they spend money on hiring enough competent, intelligent staff to make this a real community discussion site, when they can hire a few mindless incompetents that simply block posts or remove members as requested by Leads?
A useful tool. I have gotten several good referrals from my neighbors. A good communication system to locate lost pets and ask for advice. A way to advertise items for sale or free. Last but not least, a heads up for warnings about breakins, unwanted solicitors, accidents, etc.
For the most part I find the "Nextdoor" Site useful and informative especially regarding notices about safety concerns in the neighborhood such as burglary, traffic accidents, prowlers, nuisances etc. I don't find arguments on the site regarding differences of opinions on an issue useful. I do not mind different view points on an issue but arguing over the issue is a waste of time.
A Mommie, who encountered someone with schizophrenia was freaking out and threatening to call the police. The gentrification in my neighborhood is rampant. It is a city neighborhood but it seems there is little tolerance for diversity. I was kicked off for posting about a community that tolerates people, who are different. Kicked off by Nextdoor, based in what was once the most tolerant city in the US. Go figure. I won't be back. I am even tolerant of the people moving in; just wish they would try and fit into the community.
I found a wonderful lady to restore my mother's desk and lot's of other good info.
I am always looking at site to see what my neighbors have to sell. Am pleased with info on security issues and that neighbors watch out for each other. Share videos, etc.
Yes not a good sight to use they have to much info on you and where you live and so the the people that will brake into your home, and take about bullies and they know it all's its full of them. Its controlled by one person in your neighborhood and if they do not like with your saying they will block the post.
I am more scared of my neighbors than strangers. They engage in organized community harrassment. If you are a minority or in any way vulnerable please watch out. My neighbors have used these apps to harrass and mob those who they want to drive out of their neighborhood
I've been suspended on Nextdoor for 'shaming'. I shared my personal encounter with a reckless driver along with the license plate and type of car... and warned people to be ware. Following notification of my suspension, I then returned to the site (via my husband's account) to review the previous relevant postings I had seen. All of the postings concerning this driver have been deleted. I wonder if those contributors were also suspended. Hummmm. Come to your own conclusions!
1 star rating is too good, There should be a 1/4 star selection!
Many of the reviews for Nextdoor are negative and there is a reason.
Because if you have a problem, you will spend hours, yes multiple sessions with emails back and forth along with being linked to a BOT where you think you have someone that can help you but keeps asking you questions that don't make sense until you are finally told they will transfer you to the Gethuman web site that wants you to pay $1 (not much bur really!) to get a live person to chat with. This takes a while but by the time you get to this point, your are so annoyed and have spent so much time that you realize that it's just not worth spending any more time and finally decide that the warning signs were right in front of you with all the negative ratings but you can pruge this from your life and hope you can help someone else from this colossal waste of time!.
Nextdoor should be renamed as "Trapdoor"
Keeps everyone aware of what is happening in our Wildwood community. We should keep in mind that this is not a device to vent frustrations. Look at it as a great source of becoming aware of our lovely Wildwood community and the people who live here. Thank u.
I was scammed and put up a warning about the scam so no one else got caught up in it. Nextdoor suspended my account because they said I might make the scammers uncomfortable and not feel welcome. Nextdoor would rather look after scammers then keep the public safe.
Seemed lovely to connect with those in the neighborhood. Became an incessant nuisance, too many fights between neighbors and a "I saw a stray dog". "I saw it too". "Me too!" site. Apparently, it phished or data scrapped all those in my address book and invited them to join without my permission. Hate this. Delete, do not accept and beware.
I found that for about 6 months maybe from last fall through winter, I was not receiving any emails from Nextdoor. I checked my settings and everything looked fine. I searched for a contact to help resolve the issue, but found none. Starting in maybe March, I receive multiple emails in a day.
I really enjoy Nextdoor news. Keeps me up with what is going on in the neighborhood.
Also enjoy reading about people's experiences. I have gotten good leads on several businesses. Have hired a few though recommendations on Nextdoor.
I have thrown in my two cents here and there. Overall its a thumbs up!
I got banned for reporting a man for posting someone's license plates online for "dumping" two TV's in an alley. I don't quite understand how someone who was posting pictures and plate numbers gets no admonishment for being a hostile, argumentative jerk but I get banned for reporting it to a lead? Wow.
Most experiences have been good, but... On a couple of occasions I've been banned for inappropriate comments. Granted I may not be the best judge of my own comments but I do my best to make sure my posts are either helpful to all or in defense of someone who's being attacked by another. Even the defenses are more along the line of maybe the poster ought to rethink. Personal opinion is someone needs to read the thread before deciding a post is 'hurtful, not helpful.' By the way, the "I'm Not a Robot" thingy needs clearer photos unless the goal is to handicap us older folks.
I'm still not over the shock of the death of my brother due to the bullies on Nextdoor as well as the so-called support staff which allowed such actions to continue on the website. Along the false assumption that two or more brothers could never have the same initials (which he was bullied to no end over) as well as what I have mentioned about earlier of his learning disabilities to which he was bullied over to the several so called (lack of) support people with no last names (I can see why now) he never stood a chance of not having the ability to keep from killing himself. If they want proof, go to Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Around this time on Monday 4/8/19 marks roughly when I found my brother unconscious with pills by his side, almost 48 hours later he is still unconscious. Trying to understand why I had started reading and surprised by the actions of the so-called moderators had been doing since the very first hour he was on the website. I was appalled by their flat out accusations that I was the same person as my brother. At first I could see he was doing his best to ignore their harassment and go on. Undeterred those same moderators made cruller attacks on my brother. And those folks did not let up, no matter how many times I or my brother reported their actions. It looked as if they could get away with impunity. Today I received notice that our profiles were suspended because of the totally false assumption we were the same person.
Am I angry that those moderators and others could run around with impunity, your dang right I am, especially when they caused enough grief toward my brother that he tried to take his life. I see this site would like photos, but I doubt they would ever be published because it would show my brother, with a piece of steel for one side of his head and nothing below his knees, lying in a pool of vomit. I hate to say this, but if my brother dies because of the treatment he received in that short time he was on that website I'll do everything in my power to make sure Cathy Brady and Ken Rost pay for their deeds as well as nextdoor for not doing a thing to stop theirs and others actions toward my brother.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
Nextdoor has a rating of 1.9 stars from 3,047 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Nextdoor most frequently mention social media, real name and free speech. Nextdoor ranks 503rd among Social Network sites.
