NextDoor has gone from helpful to a liberal cesspool of nothing but arguing and bullying. It's not neighborly at all. I tried deleting my account once I got sick of it and was told that it was suspended in the past (I don't even remember it being suspended) and that they couldn't delete it to "protect their platform." Last I checked, I lived in the US. If you want to not allow ME to delete MY personal account, move your headquarters to China. I'll fight this until they do not have my data any longer.
I have enjoyed NEXTDOOR for a some months now. Today, I signed on to see whats up, and this is what happens. I see my home page for about 3 seconds, then it goes to all white.NO ND anything. I sent ND a message on facebook to see if they know how to deal with it, cause Iam still getting updates via my email on comments and other stuff still going on. I also cant sign out at this time
I created two seperate accounts for seperate residences in Australia (one in Sydney, another in the Central Coast region). This is allowed according to the Nextdoor policies if you have two residences as long as there is seperate accounts for both. I however got wrongly banned for having duplicate accounts. Even their banned message says there is one account per residence. I have appealed this aith the Nextdoor staff and screenshot their policies, but Nextdoor staff are tone deaf. I also attached the banned message and policy to this review. I don't recommend this website.
With the progression to a digital and mobile world, many of us lost our personal connections with our neighbors. Nextdoor has redefined the neighborhood for today's busy commuters and offers a way for neighbors to reach out to one another with news, help, advice, and more.
Copies of all the harassment, should be sent, also start asking for all the private information from the support of Next-Door when they contact you. There are no last names. I had been back on, back off, back on, back off. I had been approved by a Manager and now another Manager is asking for information again outside of Next-door policies. They ignore they own policies. What good if you are vouched, verified and approved. They make you go through the whole hoops again. They are doing switch and bait. Everyone needs to contact Sarah of Next-door. There are other places you can directly contact her and send her the information, it is time changes should be made.
It isn't enough that you were verified by a neighbor. They ask for out of line personal information to prove whom you are, that is way more than what their policy guidelines are. The supervisor will contact you with a first name. There is no last name to find out whom these people are. They want you to show everything you have, and more. They harass you about it, and other people who are leads and their friends post harassing polls and messages on Nextdoor to harass other business.
We have neighborhood leads who are also the homeowners association board. Any criticism of actions by the board are deleted, and the posters are censored or temporarily banned, even though there is no violation of TOS.
Complaints about this to Nextdoor, were disregarded, and the reported leads retaliated against those who reported them, by censoring and banning them. We are currently identifying other apps which are similar to Nextdoor, and preparing to migrate.
People list good business that help. They also ask for recommendations for people to help. They announce neighborhood gatherings and activities. If there is a problem in the neighborhood (loose dogs running around. They ask about it. It is nice to know help or information is just a click away.
I seem to ditto what a lot of people say about Next Door. Don't dare dissent any of the "leads" or be removed.
It's a dumpster fire that will probably burn forever in the wasteland of the internet in the polluted form of social media.
I have found nextdoor very helpful in a number of situations--saving kitten, recommendations, notifications of events (primarily criminal behavior to look out for), etc. I have experienced some snarkiness, but figure it's their (the snarker's) problem, not mine.
I think nextdoor is a great resource.
I like Nextdoor. It gives me the feel of being a closer part of my neighborhood and community. The sharing of news, opinions and information make it a cross between the old town newspaper (with an editorial page for opinions, of course) a town hall and maybe a garage sale!
I was constantly being banned. My account would be disabled when I would report bullies who were weaponizing the report feature. And they would remove my content. I'm a photographer. They would remove my photos of sunsets and art! And child molesters use the app. Stay away from this App!
Avoid Nextdoor if you value your privacy.
BTW, they also censure conservative free speech, which used to be a concern for the traditional Left. Evidently, the Bill of Rights no longer applies to the new, radical Alt-Left. Anyway, even if you did go to college in the last 8-10 years and have brainwashed into digging Bernie, AOC, Marx, Lenin, and Stalin, you still might care about Internet security and your own identity. If so, avoid Nextdoor.
I could never get the local information from any other source if it weren't for Nextdoor. I have found an excellent TV repairman, a great computer guy and many others. The fact that recommendations come from actual users of these professionals is very reassuring. I also have learned so much info about wild animals and birds of prey in the area that I have changed some of my habits with my own dog. Nice to know if there are unsavory characters in the area so I can keep my head on a swivel. I could go on. There are so many benefits to Nextdoor that I could go on forever. Great site!
I have been a member of Nextdoor.com for several years for my neighborhood. I find it very informative and interesting in that it is a platform for community activity both good and not so good. It keeps neighbors informed.
Nextdoor is a scam to get information from you. The company is in Brazil. There is no return address on their mailings but it does have a "sent from" zip code stamped on top by the post office. The zip code is a Brazil zip code. Always research something before you join.
I like being able to chat with my neighbors quickly and easily. I feel much more aware of what is happening in my neighborhood.
However, I am trying to offer free services to my neighborhood, and I feel very restricted in how Nextdoor allows me to notify my neighbors. I can only post in the finds section or "make a local deal", which creates a post in the local deals section. I don't think these sections are viewed nearly as often as the general or recommendations sections. It is disappointing that many neighbors will not know about my free services, which are a way for me to give back to my community.
If you are conservative. & on next door app, the people on there will harass you to no end & than the moderators will suspend your Account! Ridiculous the social Platforms in this country. News media, & all social Platforms. Believe me. Hear me, I will bad mouth this platform to no end.
Yes, everyone is right.
The leads are your HOA board members. They are trying to control the narrative that they can't in Facebook. If you don't have an HOA, then those who are the busy bodies, now control your neighborhoods discussions. There is no fairness, really. It is all about who you actually know, or to have complimenting & disgusting political & "moral" beliefs with.
I originally found it, used my facebook to login. Verified.
Moved. They sent me a postcard, to my new address. Verified.
Now someome reports my account as a fake name.
No due diligence. No effort.
A bland email that says I have to prove my identity, without saying how.
Hilarious & you definitely find out who you have to defend your very existence against.
Pretty much, facebook is too liberal & there is not enough control. Enter nextdoor.com.
Stay away from this site, filled with liberals, felons, etc. Disagree with a liberal you will get banned, find out that the felon is using the site for their own criminal activities, report it, you will get banned. Get threatened with physical injury and report it you will get banned if the leads are friends with the one making the threats. Do yourself a favor skip this site.
I am so frustrated with this app. It is impossible to cancel sell for good or any other settings. I had sell for good set and I want to cancel it and I cannot find any menu that allows you to do that. The menus take you around in circles. Their political leaning and bias seep into their everyday interactions with members. Typical Bay Area intolerant leftist culture that gets you banned because some or other wokel had their feelings hurt. They need to cater to all.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
Nextdoor has a rating of 1.9 stars from 3,047 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Nextdoor most frequently mention social media, real name and free speech. Nextdoor ranks 503rd among Social Network sites.
