I was experiencing difficulties using the P2P and Double VPN mode, the connection wouldn't work, so I emailed NordVPN customer service explaining my whole situation as I just downloaded the app on my MacOS.
I received a response via email within 2 hours with all the steps I should use to install properly NordVPN (As I didn't set up it well) and advised me on which protocol to use whenever I need to use a different VPN mode such as P2P or Double VPN.
Thank you Jose Vertigo for your help and thank you Nord for your excellent service!
Horrible customer service. Service itself is not great for my needs (to watch sport games). If you are in black out area you cannot switch to different IP based off another area - NordVPN assigns best available IP which is still too close to your area and hence the game is still blocked. Picking IP from another County means delays and lagging not to mention Amazon Fire Stick log you out if you are watching through it.
Do NOT USE your credit cards with NordVPN. They will keep charging it - do card for 1 time payment only. The reason is NordVPN made it very hard to cancel autorenewal! You do it on their website and you are being asked multiple times if you are sure. After you are done you are under impression you are good to go, however it's not the case! You supposed to receive an email asking to confirm cancellation one more time however this email is so unreliable -you might never get it because it almost always goes to spam folder so your cancellation request won't be finalized. Customer service can care less even if they see your attempt to cancel the service and never received email to finalize the request.
Stay away - look for other option and there are better ones!
Re: ticket (ID #*******): The customer service team is very helpful and very quick to respond. Very please with that. But I'm disappointed that in the end they have no solution to get the NordVPN software working on an LG TV - arguably the best and definitely one of the most popular TVs on the planet. No App is available and their SmartDNS work-around doesn't seem to work to stream services on the LG TV.
Very Impressed with NORDVPN Service and support.
In the UK I had had no problems using Nord VPN, however in Spain while I could connect to the Internet, when I attempted to connect via VPN with NordVPN I could not log onto servers either in Spain or the UK.
I also made a few attempts to try other countries too but without success.
Nord VPN proved to be extremely efficient in responding to my emails and resolved the problem. This was in spite of initial clearing and re-installing the NORD VPN service which did not clear the problem.
Very pleased both with the service and with the level and speed of support.
Apart from the inconsistent and diametrically opposite things I was told multiple times by their customer service people about the intermittent blocks that they more often than not pled ignorance about whilst the tech people were actually fixing the blocks, I was reasonably satisfied with the service - until now.
What I am upset about is that I couldn't find any email about my original subscription anywhere, and just now, without so much as sending me any kind of reminder in advance of my subscription ending, this company abruptly cut off my service. At first I didn't even know what had happened. I subscribed at least 2 years ago. I can't remember when it was. Normally a company sends a reminder in advance of your subscription ending, but not these people. They don't have enough regard for their customers to even be bothered to do that much.
It isn't listed on this website so I don't think I can leave a separate review for it, and it's early days, but so far I highly recommend UK Expat vpn if, like me and some other British citizens living abroad who want to watch British tv you want to do that too. This is the only reason I wanted a vpn. Nordvpn have let me down recently in this area, so I went looking for an alternative. UK Expat vpn have all of their servers in the UK. The CS lady was good at answering my questions, it was easy to set up and use, and I immediately got the use of my paid app back that hadn't worked for the last week.
I am currently living in the US, but my country is the UK. This vpn is the first of 3 that I have used that has been 100% reliable for me since I've had it, which has been since October 2018. I'm only using it on my tablets, and it has connected immediately to any server I have ever tested, but I really only use the UK ones so I can watch the tv iplayers, and when I had netflix to watch the UK one. I've never once had a problem with it failing in any way. It even connects to servers that say they're currently overloaded, which has happened a few times. The only problem I've encountered was when I was going to set it up on my old Compaq vista laptop, which is the only computer I've got since my Dell windows 7 broke and failed in virtually every way. There was some complicated series of steps to instal it on a computer that old which I didn't understand and didn't have the patience to go through. I think nord support was willing to try to help with this, but I still haven't got to the point where I want to go through all of that, so I've let that go for the time being. It's not that important to me, I suppose. You have to pay for this vpn by the year, in my case I paid for 2 years because I think there was a bit of a discount at the time, rather than lifetime, but it's been worth it. They also have frequent updates, possibly to prevent the sorts of problems I've had with other vpns where sites I've wanted to use have been blocked as suspected or detected proxies or vpns. I've been very happy with Nord and have no reason to go looking for any other. So far, the third time has been the charm.
Update- 18 August 2020 - I have been using this vpn on my firestick 4k for over a year, and it has mostly been fine. My main complaint is that the support people don't really know what's going on and have told me different things and wasted loads of my time when the problem I've had has not had anything to do with me or my equipment but because a website or app was being blocked in general. The latest incident was yesterday. I have had Britbox UK for over a month and had no problems until yesterday when it started buffering during a programme and refused to play anything for hours. Instead of being aware that it was being blocked, they wasted a lot of my time telling me to do all sorts of time-consuming things that included changing settings and uninstalling and reinstalling 2 different apps and trying many different servers, and nothing whatsoever helped. I had already spent a lot of time on my own trying to get it to play again. I was so frustrated that I contacted a different vpn who told me the app was being blocked and that they were working on unblocking it. I finally had to practically insist that the app was being blocked and asked nordvpn to unblock it and said if they didn't I would be getting a new vpn. A while later it started working again, so the engineers may have been aware and working on it. I still haven't heard back from them to tell me about what was going on. It doesn't really matter now that it's working again, except that I don't like it when people and companies don't keep their word. I think maybe there is a lack of communication between the support people and the engineers. This is not the first time this has happened when an app was being blocked and I was told it wasn't or told that the app wasn't supported, even though I had been using it for months.
I had cause to contact Nord technical support regarding an issue i had with Nord VPN, the reply was really fast and very helpful and my issue is now fixed, they are very good at listening and super fast with their replies, my experience so far with Nord is all good.
Here's what happened, I purchased a subscription for my mom who lives in Iran so that she can connect to the Internet (due to regime restricting the network). She tried it but it didn't work, so I had to buy another VPN that works.
I then tried to contact Nord to cancel my subscription as they deliberately not allow the users to cancel it on their own. I attempted contacting their support through the chatbot many times withing the two weeks leading to my 30 day trial. Every time I tried it would show me a message to wait until they connect me to a live agent. 5-10-15 minutes later, I would get an error message that I am disconnected and I should try again. I went through this cycle almost every other day. Fast forward it to a day after my trial ends, and suddenly I get connected! Only to be denied cancellation, because it was "past the 30 day trial".
Regardless of the screenshots I provided from the chatbox, they denied refunding me. Now I have to live with 2 years of subscription I will never use.
Hello, due to severe internet blocking by the government in Iran most of the VPNs struggle to connect because uninterrupted internet connection is required. In terms of subscription cancelation, you don't need to contact us to cancel your plan. Simply login to your account at https://my.nordaccount.com and find "cancel subscription" option.
Signed up and paid a full two years for the best discount. The price seemed fair and the options seemed plentiful. Installed on both my Windows laptop and iPad. Everything fairly simple and straight forward. Almost immediately, some oddities started. I often visit yahoo.com for a news aggregator. After my first visit there, when I went back a second time, the VPN overrode my entry and switched it to the Spanish version of Yahoo. I eventually had to clear cache to stop it from constantly changing to the Spanish version. I then had intermittent problems with getting no internet messages. The biggest issue I encountered next was When I tried to log into my online bank account, it would never connect. Both the url and the app would fail. I turned the VPN off and could connect fine. Another issue I had was one website I visit blocks their server IP address. I also, maybe coincidentally, started getting a lot of scam phishing emails right after using their VPN.
I cannot recommend them. I did not sign up with them to deal with issues all day. Contacted them for a refund and cancelled. They did refund.
Hi Bob, sad to hear you did not find our service useful. Best of luck.
I switched from surfshark about 2 months ago because of constant connectivity issues with their browser extension. Nordvpn has fewer vpn locations but they all connect quickly and work well using the app or browser extension. Some locations were slow and hard to connect to during peak hours with surfshark. I got 120-130mb download speed on a fast server with surfshark, I'm getting 180-200mb with Nordvpn using any vpn location, with the same pc and internet service.
I've had no real issues, just some configuration stuff, the tech support staff are very helpful and they actually follow up for as long as it takes to resolve the issue.
I took advantage of a promotion so Nordvpn only cost me slightly more than Surfshark but it has been faster, quicker to connect, and far more stable than Surfshark was.
I can't speak to the mobile experience, I don't use any mobile devices on the internet, but I am using it on 3 windows pc's and it works equally well on all 3.
All things considered, I'm happy I switched.
