Preparing for a future trip to Iceland brought me Northbound Gear's website and their products geared to exploring the outdoors. For Christmas presents for myself and my husband, I had purchased both Mens and Womens Apex jackets, Adventure pants and the Mens Summer zip-off pants. While there were small issues with my orders, Kelly and the Customer Service Team went above and beyond correcting a defective item and exchanging another. My review is coming well after receiving their products due to actually using them over our harsh Ontario winter. The Apex jackets were perfect- the weight, advertised functions (weather and waterproof) and fit for both my husband I (we're tall!) were perfect. All of it. We both love our Adventure pants. After exchanging the original Womens to the new high waisted option in Womens Tall, I'm in love and CAN NOT wait to take them out on winter adventures in Iceland in November!
Overall- amazing service with amazing products for this West coast Canadian company!

Bought four pairs of pants from here a year or two ago and was floored by the quality. Happy to return and get more great gear for my needs. This time I came for a backpack as I quite liked how it sounded and was outward bound for an international trip.
I haven't gone yet, but I HAVE flown nationally with the backpack and given it a trial. The back itself is of a good quality and it looks very professional and discreet. The handles on multiple sides come in handy way more than I had expected and I often find myself carrying this backpack like a briefcase through narrow spaces (such as an airplane).
I did have some loose stitching on my bag in the mesh compartment of the clothes carrying section. I'm hoping it holds up for my big trip. So far it hasn't run, but there is a definite detachment that keeps me on edge.
For anyone who is looking to use this bag for traveling, be careful how you pack it! I found that stuffing it, even with the expandable part NOT expanded, makes it too big to be a carry-on (I awkwardly had to pull things out of the front pockets to get the bag to fit on one flight). I don't mean a personal item; I mean be careful how you pack it to make it fit as a carry-on bag. Go even lighter for personal item. Although, this may just be due to the small nature of Air New Zealand ATR72 planes.

The expandable bit is not super practical to have out as it sticks out pretty far. I have a very small frame (5'4,110 pounds) and I would not wear the bag expanded. That said, the expansion zipper is very handy as a compression tool for packing clothes tight. Eliminates the need for a packing compression cube because it serves the same function. Pretty handy! But again, be careful not to overpack.

Love these pants. I had ordered these pants about a year ago and they came with a belt. I needed more pants and ordered more but this time they did not come with a belt. Wondering why they don't come with a belt now?

I've ordered several items from Northbound Gear and didn't find them worth the cost. Many lose threads, zippers that don't work properly and the return process (since it has to be returned to Asia) is difficult to say the least. Although NB Gear is still on the lower price end for travel/adventure gear, your better off spending more on the higher priced, better quality, not adding china gear.

This company doesn't seem to really have any inventory on hand. My original order took over a month of prodding their customer service before they shipped my item. When the product finally arrived it didn't fit so I asked for an exchange. What a nightmare that had become. Going on my fifth month and since do not have my product. I will never order from this company again. Buyers beware.

I bought the women's adventure trousers and have found them to be a comfortable good looking and practical pair of trousers in all weathers. The sizes are very generous…… I'm usually a UK16 but bought a 14 going on the reviews, in actual fact I feel I could go another size down. The inner fleece lining makes the trousers feel so snug without becoming too warm. I've only worn them over the winter which has been fine, although they may be too warm to wear over the summer but time will tell. British summer temperatures can vary a lot!
The waterproofing is excellent but does need reproofing after a couple of washes.
Also bought the men's weatherproof tactical jacket for my son who is equally pleased with the quality and performance.

Have ordered several times from Northbound Gear. Web site easy to Navigate. Order fulfilment and delivery very efficient and swift. Love the quality and fit of the Clothing.
