I love Priceline, but lately it's a little slacking. As I noticed when you bid, you got to bid much more than just maybe 2 years ago. Big inflation on the prices. Pro: got some good deal before and easy to use. Con: cannot cancel and won't know the name til purchased if go through Express deals or bidding site. Hotels gotten progressively more expensive.
Thier ticket said free carry on bag...I had to pay 99.00 for a carryon bag...fought with price line for 2 months and many many hours of customer service...these people are liars telling me that a refund is in the mail several times. Do not trust these people!
My wife and I booked a hotel and wanted to change it because we accidentally booked the wrong date. We called them right away, waited over 90 minutes to even speak to a manager who replied: "sorry we can't change the date". She didn't even try to do anything about it or accommodate us in any way. They don't even have a cancellation policy in place which is really unprofessional. Terrible company.
I am a retired airline employee and love to travel but things these days change as did my plans.
I had to put off my trip by one day in Nashville and priceline refused to change my rental car reservation. The price was the same with there site for both days and there was plenty of cars available. Absolutely no flexability so I booked with Expedia and it was actually cheaper and they have a change/cancellation policy. I can see why the overall rating with priceline is so low.
I used priceline to book a hotel for one night stay. It turns out that the hotel will be charging additional 26% resort and parking fee over my booking price. It will be charged even I don't have a car nor using any of the resort facilities. Priceline did have a disclaimer about possible resort fees. But it never mentioned the exact amount nor percentage. They have you agree upon an undisclosed amount in fine print and you can't cancel the booking once you are trapped. What a scam!
I booked a room at Ramada Inn by Wyndham in Sacramento California. I arrived at 10 pm. There were sketchy people hanging around the entrance and lobby. The clerk was behind a cage. The room was down two long dim hallways and it smelled of stale cigarettes, was dim and dingy and needed to be remodeled. I left. I had to fight for a refund from Priceline who claimed my problem was with the hotel, not them, even though my credit card was charged prior to the check in.
After much shaming and threatening, my credit card was credited, but first they charged my card a second time " by error".
I will never book with priceline.com again. After making a guaranteed car rental reservation and even pre-paying insurance, we arrived at our destination ( in another country) to be told there were no vehicles available. We were forced to walk to another location to obtain a much higher price vehicle.
I booked a return ticket with priceline from Uganda to Spain. First the airline reference number did not work and I eventually sorted this out myself by going to the airline.
With my return date looming my husband was taken seriously ill and hospitalised. I contacted the 'chat' on the web site. Not sure whether she was an android or a non English speaker. As she could not help me she suggested I phoned the toll free number in the USA. I explained numerous times that I could not do this from the UK.
I emailed the company to change or even cancel my ticket. I received an automated reply with the promise of a reply in 12 hours... Im still waiting.
Great when things go smoothly BUT life is not like that and I would never use this company again.
Their customer service was awful. The representative, who definitely was not based out of the US, couldn't help so I asked to speak with someone higher. I was told I would be put on a brief hold but they will be right with me, held for 30 minutes and they hung up. I called back and asked to talk with someone higher and was on hold for an hour only to be told oh well nothing we can do. The fees if you want to cancel a reservation even if it is over 30 days out is ridiculous. This was my first time using them and definitely my last. Every single one of my friends and co workers I've told also agreed don't bother with them. Better off booking directly through the hotel
Tip for consumers:
Just book through the hotels site or a more reliable travel site. They will just screw you if you try to back out, change the date or cancel for any reason.

If you are looking for a service provider offering discount travel packages, I would recommend that you visit priceline.com. Since the rates were too good to be true, I compared it with other websites of the niche and even went through its review. I even took the opportunity to speak with customer service professionals who assured that they are indeed a genuine site and provide the best deals on travel. Their packages even comprise of hotels, cars, cruises and other activities that might garner your attention. I would recommend their top services to one and all.
I reserved a vehicle with e debit card which they accepted gladly. Only to find that AVIS would not honor it and left me in a lurch. I do not own a credit card since my Paypal debit card has always worked well for me. It was really nice to hear the "customer service rep" state that it's basically my fault that I don't have a "real debit card" connected with a bank. It's also my responsibility to prove to Priceline that I didn't actually rent the vehicle. If you really hate the person in need of a rental deal, recommend priceline. To follow up Enterprise would take my card but wanted to charge me DOUBLE since I was at the airport and already screwed. Priceline could have a notification or simply disregard cards that their vendors do not accept. They basically screwed me on the off chance I would have another card to use. It's bad policy.
I am a bargain shopper and make nearly all of my purchases, small and large, online. You see the TV commercials at least a half dozen times a day on how great it is. Because of this brainwashing, I always go to Priceline first for travel. Funny thing is I've made exactly zero purchases through the site. With a little more investigation I'm ALWAYS able to find a better deal elsewhere. I don't know why I repeatedly waste my time shopping this site.
While attempting to look up available hotels this site somehow booked me! I called immediately only to be told too bad. Senior citizen. Then I attempted to call this hotel it emailed me that I have a reservation at. Denise spoke to me and basically said yes this happens often with Priceline and you are just out. Priceline line has done zero to help me even though I contacted them within minutes! I attempted to call the hotel back to speak to Denise as the credit card company said to, but a woman said she is gone for the day. Then I attempted the Priceline chat, I had to hold while they called the hotel. It seems the Ramada Inn lied, Denise was still there and spoke to the Priceline agent. Three hours later the credit card company has to file all this paperwork for me. SCAM alert. Do not use your computer to check prices on this site. Now the credit card company thinks they may have booked every room I looked at...omg.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid the site.

Absolute theft. Reservation made for car rental in July 2019 for April 2020. Reservations not refundable regardless of the Corona Virus. Priceline walks with thousands of customers money without rendering any service. Exploitation of the virus killing Americans all over the country. I will NEVER use Priceline again. May all their greedy self serving executive officers catch the Corona Virus and kick the bucket.
Will not book hotels through Priceline in future. Had a bad experience where their website details does not May that of what the hotel provides! When I reached out to them their customer service was the worst that I have experienced... there are much better options out there folks don't use Priceline
Booked a Canadian Hotel. The currency did not show until after it was confirmed and booked. Price went up $100 from the currency exchange.
Customer service just gives you the run around.
We called immediately and they will not do anything.
Said we were tied to the contract.
BEWARE of these crooks.
With in an hour of booking a room my itinerary changed. Called the hotel and they said contact Priceline to get a refund. All customer chat said was I had to eat the price of the room. Should have some time, like 24 hr., to be able to cancel. Not worth the small discount. Will never use again!
Just booked a single night hotel stay which generally was $3 cheaper than anywhere else with name your own price. Good enough I thought. Later in the night I found it for $12 cheaper plus taxes were $10 cheaper. I phoned and asked about the Priceline Big Deal Guarantee and they gave me the $22 back PLUS the $25 reward for a total of $47. They were very nice about it and didn't give me the run around. Great experience.
Booked a 2.5 star hotel and assumed it would be one of the chains listed. Instead it was an old LaQuinta with some very sketchy people. All hanging outside the rooms smoking and drinking. Called Priceline and they would do nothing. My first and last experience. Hope they go out of business soon. Nothing would please me more.
... that does not care where they stay. But there are no such things a cheap prices, just bad locations. You get what you pay for, so if you do not care about the location, the room or the service, by all means, use them.
It is a shame for William Shatner to promote Priceline.com. It is a scam business. I have bought hotels from Priceline, and had been a loyal customer. But this recent experience changed my view of Priceline 180 degree. I got the 3.5 starts of Double Tree Hotel in Tempe, this is clearly not a that level. I have prove of photos of poor caulking work around the bath tub, rusted bath tub. With this kind of level of maintenance I wonder if I should take off my shoes while in the room.
I wanted to express my complain through Priceline chat line, the attendant reply once and disconnected the chat before giving me chance to say anything else. I tried to re connected again, this time the chat line said "all attendants are busy"
I wanted to write review about the Double tree hotel in Tempe AZ on Priceline, but could not find how, I think all the reviews are filtered and rigged.
Tip for consumers:
Attached photo showed the Double Tree Hotel at Tempe, AZ rated as 3.5 stars by Priceline.
I chose a certain hotel room when I was booking but my confirmation gave me a different type of room. I've spoken with two customer service representatives and both say there's nothing they can do to fix it. That's a ridiculous. I just made the reservations. All I want is to switch it from one room type to another. The customer service representative just said but if I don't show up I will be charged. This was my first time using Priceline and absolutely my last.
Please book your trips, flights, etc. with another company. Priceline is a very grimy company who prey upon innocent hard working people like myself, unless you don't mind wasting money. Please consider booking with another professional company and not these clowns/thieves.
Tip for consumers:
It’s a very grimy company!

Never ever use Priceline! They're being added to my list of companies that just don't give a crap! Wendy called, was on hold for 10 minutes and the computer hung up on her. She then called again, was on hold for 15 minutes, talked to a representative, who tried transferring her and Wendy got hung up on again! I called and was on hold for 40 minutes before being put on hold again for 10 more minutes, and then finding out that the department I'm calling closed 17 effing minutes ago! What are they doing about this? Absolutely nothing! Plus during all of this posting, Siri is being an idiot with transcribing this rant! Roar!
I used priceline for the first time on my vacation. My wife and I booked a round trip back east and were only looking at direct flights and ones with 1 hop. We paid for the tickets and chose seats next to each-other so we could sleep and share snacks, watch the same movie etc.
NONE OF THIS HAPPENED! They screwed up our entire trip. I called the airline and I was told "They are a marketing partner and their technology is not good enough to pass the information to us correctly, so we see this a lot"! They told us, go direct next time. I am disputing the charges currently. Their customer service hung up on me twice.
Thought I had a good deal through PL but as it turns out they charge in US dollars. The fact that all charges are in USD is in small print and a faded out font colour. You have to be sharp to catch it. After the fact I complained to the CSR and there was nothing she could do. I asked for a supervisor, there was noting he could do. Lots of "sorry for the inconvenience" but nothing concrete like a voucher for $'s off your next booking. All the manager said was' "send your complaints in writing to the head office. Adding insult to injury the hotel does not provide the continental breakfast to customers who book through any website but their own. After this experience I will never book through price line again. It is a rip off. Deal direct with the hotel you want to stay at and get the respect you deserve.
We were traveling 11+ hours so decided to book a room online through priceline at the Howard Johnson by Windham in Lexington, VA. Upon arrival the hotel staff rushed our check in and sent us on our way. When we opened the door to our room we walked into an infested room with stink bugs high and low and EVERYWHERE! The walls and floor were covered with the stink bugs along with them crawling out of the AC vent. We have 2 small daughters who were petrified. My husband politely went right back down to the desk and asked for a refund. The desk clerk refused us a refund bc we booked on priceline. We grabbed our luggage and left the hotel. I immediately called priceline and they then contacted the hotel. The woman from priceline said they won't refund bc the hotel said we agreed to our stay! We NEVER agreed to paying for a room infested with bugs! This is not ok business practice and we hope this hotel/priceline will be honest with consumers.
