You all have done exactly that... communicate readily and routinely. While I've never successfully won a bid yet, my next step is to engage a telephone on site person... help me achieve that since our Hawaiian Standard Time is often six or more hours apart from auction location.
I have won bids where my high bid ends up winning but no other bids close to mine, then I pay more than I should have. It seems like on line bidders are at a huge disadvantage, CS is for the auction houses and not the bidders who can see unfair practices right before there eyes. Be careful and save your money from this poorly run company.

Proxibid does an amazing job with following the correct protocol in settling a dispute. Their recommendations were right on and my claim was settled correctly and did not need any further action! I love this service! Thank you!
Easy, trustworthy, FUN! I had never participated in an online auction before and was extremely pleased with my successful results in the winning bid for a vintage sewing machine at an amazing price! Thank you Proxibid!
As a hobby, participating in auctions has occupied me for many years. Over the last 5 years I have migrated to the on line auctions for convenience. Although, not matching the social experience, the same energy and synergy with the bidding is all there. I highly recommend ProxiBid. Their auctioneers are accessible and supply quality collectibles and unique merchandise. ProxiBid itself also provides good customer service.
Do yourself a favor and join in, you won't regret it. My experience has been top notch!
Proxibid is sort of a clearinghouse for online auctions. You can search online for things you're interested in, or search by geographic area. Lots of fun. Easy to use their online application. Just as with any other clearinghouse, just do your research on the auction houses. If an item is selling for an unbelievable price, it is a good idea to check them out independently. But other than those few, most are very reputable, service is good, and great delivery. Proxibid also helps with resolution in those few instances of disagreement with an auction house. This is my primary site for online auction clearing houses.
Site is user friendly especially for 1st time users. Navigating the site and being able to find rules and regulations for each individual bidding process was fairly simple and will definitely be using this moving forward.
The site works just fine, bidding online is easy and I've run into almost no technical issues (like time-out errors or lag or stuff like that). Only issue (that I've heard of) is that proxibid hosts images with a site that may have compatibility issues, resulting in some auction pictures coming out blurry.
I have used Proxibid's online auction service to buy several items from different companies --including a Mack truck!--and have never been disappointed with a purchase. The sellers I have contacted have been knowledgeable and polite. When I have had items shipped they have arrived well-packaged, in a timely manner, and at a reasonable cost. The variety of items available is awesome. I think you could find almost anything on Proxibid!
I have used this Website at several of their auctions and been extremely satisfied with my entire experience. I would not hesitate to repeat the opportunity if it arrives and do watch out for items of interest as they come up.
I would also recommend the site to others who have not tried it before.
Why is the fee to bob and buy on the MET so high? I am a 54 year old disabled male. It is impossible for me to go on the bidding grounds where the merchandise is, walk around and bid with a numbered sign. It's needs to be an exception for Americans like myself. I love the site, however (15%) fifteen percent is highway robbery.! Can you accommodate a disabled person like me?
Be careful of auction houses that have a lot of high dollar "onsite" bids. It seems to me that they are either driving up the price, or not wanting to sell items at a reasonable price. Most of these don't have audio and/or video and seem like a scam to me.
The website itself is great.
I have not had a bad experience on Proxibid, ever. I do, however, only deal with auction houses that appear to have their act together. If you bid recklessly you will not be happy with the results. One of the other reviews speaks about doing your homework... truer words could not be spoken. Silvertowne Auctions I highly recommend these guys great items, great prices, low shipping costs.
Bidders beware! What you see is not what you get when it comes to these live auctions. Descriptions are vague and items such as "framed prints" will turn out to be no more than a page from a book framed. This company takes no responsibility for their misdirection and misleading item pictures and descriptions. Also, online bidders are constantly dealing with bidding more than they want as the bid amount changes as they press the button and many times when they are trying to bid, bids are not recognized. Thus there is a great risk of either overbidding or losing an important bid.
Proxibid is easy to use & offers lots of fun & excitement. This was my very first auction & I was so pleased to be the high bidder on some of the lots. I am 66, retired, & living on a fixed income. Thank you, Proxibid, for helping me to cross off many of the items on my old lady wish list. I will be bidding in other Proxibid auctions soon. See you then!
I received a call from 6 & 6 Auction from Bill, went through the bidding history and explained exactly what occurred - two of us bid the exact same amount on the maximum bid... I was the first to select that maximum and that's how it went down. Bill was really nice and said they are very honest. Happy with that.
NOTE that your online bidding will automatically reach your MAXIMUM bid amount with no one else bidding on item. This is unfair and unethical business practice and needs to be reported to the better business bureau or other agency that can do something about this. I also heard they allow the owners of the items to bid on their items to jack the price up!
I recently participated in the CT Firearms auction on proxy bid. The descriptions were accurate and the staff at CT Firearms were helpful. The bidding goes fast. Know what you want and your max bid. It's easy to get caught up in the action. Also, bid as soon as possible. I missed one lot due to not being fast enough, my fault, not theirs. All in all, great experience.

It's easy to get addicted to this site, it's like gambling especially if you want to buy cheap stuff and try to flip it but beware.
1) Shipping charges can be outrages and you don't know until the item(s) are charged to your card.
2) Auction Sites mislead items and represent them as something else. This has happened twice to me, one was a lithograph that was described as being gorgeous, when I received it it was in extremely poor condition. Another time I bought an item and it was clearly used and was described as unused.
3) Getting your money back is almost impossible, it takes lots of fighting and most the time you'll be ignored by the seller. You have to open up a claim to proxibid, but even if you receive a damaged item, the auctioner gets their item back and collects on the internet premium.
This site should be shut down, there's horrible business practices being done on this site.
I want to see big history to see how other bidders are posting bids. Yes I understand increments but if there's a large max bid winning and other bidders bid you can see the increments they are bidding... slowing pushing the maxi bid up or "big jumps"... i. e., small bids or big time bids as they push toward a maxi bid that keeps "winning" Thus you can judge the aggressiveness of these other bidders (I never thought about the possibility of some shill bidding to push up bids) I called in and was not convinced by the Proxibid employee that said "they" don't show you "that"
Makes one think?
I have made many good purchases through Proxibid. Coins, antiques and firearms to name a few. However, it pays to do a little homework before bidding.
Here are my list of dont's:
1. Don't bid on items when there are no or too few photos, or if the description is not adequate.
2. Don't patronize any auction house that reserves the right to look at pre-bids
3. Don't patronize any auction house that reserves the right to bid themselves, or allows the consignee to bid on items.
4. Read the conditions of sale to look for the "hidden" conditions including shipping conditions.
If you are competing with the "floor" there is a good chance that the auction house is trying to pump up the final sale price.
Stealing money, fraud, misrepresentation, no accountability. See attached picture, someone is maxing out bids when they come in to make more money on the item. No one would bid on a higher priced item that has 5 others choose from that are below $20 and then one sky rockets to $110? No one would keep biding on the single item other then the seller. These pictured were all listed together in the same auction yet one jumps? Use common sense its because someone put what they are willing to pay in a max bid and the seller outbids to keep moving the price up.
Tip for consumers:
don't even sign up for this, go to a live auction if you want real thrill of an auction, this is crap

During my last online auction using Proxibid, I have some great concerns. During 2 items up for auction, I was the high bid when the time ran out and once updated someone else was the buyer. On 2 later items up for auction, I raised my maximum bid with no other bidders and Proxibid raised my purchase price with no apparent in between bidders. My worst experience yet. Have left bids in past but could not watch the auction. This makes me wonder about doing that again.
Tried to use it for an auction this past weekend. Had to give a cc # to sign up. Once they had the info basically couldn't use the site to bid or even watch the auction without it randomly signing you out or the web servers stop responding(tried multiple browsers, computers and internet connections). Now they won't let me remove my cc info or cancel my account despite me not being able to use the services. Highly recommend avoiding dealing with them.
I ended up with an item that someone else bid on using my information. Proxibid threatened me when I questioned the transaction. I discovered there were two accounts for me, both with my credit card, and I only created one. These competed against each other on an item I was "watching." I doubt I will ever see the item and now have to cancel my credit card. Proxibid has ZERO customer service and a low level of security. EBayis much better.
Have had great experiences with Proxibid for the last 2 years. I bid on an item on accident called them and they immediately erased the bid. Any items I have bought have been just as described. Wonderful service!
Purchased item from Wheeler Auction Paris Mo. I Purchased item for $23,500.00. Proxibid showed the same price of $23,500.00. Went to pay and Wheeler said price was $24,500.00. Ultimately even thou Proxibid showed the same price as my last bid of $23,500 00. Wheeler refused and removed me from property and told me to never return. Called Proxibid ask them to review recordings and was informed they could not help. Also ask Wheeler to review recorded records which they said they have however they refused. Purchased a second item and was not aloud to purchase that item also.
Tip for consumers:
Have someone record your transactions at time of bidding!
