It was really a bad experience sending money with this Remitly, I even use to tell my friends this is a good remittance company but no, they don't have sympathy. I have been their customer for long time. Their customer service is horrible!
No way to verify the account number of the sender was entered correctly. They only display the last 4 numbers. If you click on edit, you have to enter all the numbers again. The major problem with outsourcing development. They don't value a good project manager.
Basically they implied that I am using it to pay for prostitution when I called to ask them why. Apparently sending a little money to struggling musicians in other countries that I know through actually playing the genre of Latin music that I am fond of and know by way of attending the academies there is a big no no. By the way gifting people in a pandemic is suspicious behavior. They said I can't even appeal. Like if I was in that country soliciting wouldn't I just give these people cash. Way to go Remitly!

They respond to no one. Do not respond to emails. Have ripped people off on several occasions. If you get ripped off of which I have they do nothing. Put you on hold transfer to to someone else. This company and their team should be in jail and hopefully one day they all will be. Their reviews are terrible no matter where you look. This is a scam company.

They suspended my account for no reason, I called their customer service but they don't have any explanation and said he doesn't have any further details on his end and their decision is final. I mean seriously? What on earth is going on here? How could that be possible? Who allowed them to do business like that? Who issued them with license? They need to be reported since they are not trusted anymore, They aren't safe.
I only attempted one transaction through their system. The transaction failed (because my source bank thought remitly was a fraud site but I responded to their message that it was not, and my source bank is no longer blocking remitly). When I tried again, my transaction failed again and now, my entire remitly account was locked because they "noticed some suspicious activity and took some precautions".
I contacted their helpdesk but they had no clue why it failed and why account was locked. I escalated and asked them to delete my account, including my debit card details but their support and escalation staff are absolutely clueless and just keep giving canned messages. Instead of deleting my account, they unlocked it and asked me to try after 1 week. What a joke! I don't even want to use their service anymore. I just want them to delete my account and all my info. I don't recommend this service to anyone.

I made a transfer 4 days ago, verified my identity and the transfer is still on hold. No one answers the customer service number. I waited 2 hours on a chat for help yesterday. All they said was that someone from the security department was going to call later on, and of course no one did. The transfer is still on hold. I want to cancel but I don't know if it'll just make things worse by getting charged cancellation fees. I went on the chat today as well and it took about 2 hours and they said they need to verify everything again and answer questions. The transfer is still on hold while I have to submit an account statement. I'm done with this bs. UGGHH!
My wife's identity was compromised and the first thing the thieves did was create a Remitly account to wire funds to the Philippines. She cancelled all her cards but when calling Remitly customer service they wouldn't help at all. They refused to take any action concerning the fraudulent account. Crimes are being committed on their platform and they just don't care so long as they get their cut.
I wanted to send some much needed relief money to a friend in the Philippines and he recommended I could use Remitly to quickly send the funds. Signing up for the account and filling out the info to send the funds was very easy. I received a confirmation stating the funds would be available about 4 days later. We received a phone call asking us to verify more information. My husband was skeptical and was unsure of sharing very personal financial information over the phone. I logged into my account and they did, indeed, require some additional information. The first bit of info they wanted was for us to scan a copy of our bank statement and send it to them. Over my dead body! The customer service agent on live chat was quick to respond. Transaction cancelled, but now, 5 days later, my friend doesn't have the relief funds. Frustrating.
Did not accept 3 of my debit cards, forgot password of other account made a new one tried using the same debit card that I used said that I need to delete that debit card from other account. Whole process is so freaking stressful. Hate this money service.

Found this and thought it would be great, everything went fine when registering and ordering a card.
Then I transferred money to the account, and it took a couple of days.
Then, out of the blue I receive an email that they have decided to close my account.
There is no explanation to why, and now they have my money hostage.
When I asked why, I get this:
"After thorough deliberation, we have deactivated your Passbook account. While we are unable to provide specifics surrounding the reason, please understand the decision to close your account is final and any additional accounts created will also be closed."
This is the biggest fraud and BS I have experienced, so stay clear!
They accept account applications, transfer requests and transfer limit increases from business customer even though they are not approved for business transactions.
They then take the money from your account and place it on hold and notify you to contact them to finally eventually cancel the transaction. What a waste of everyone's time and effort.
The entire process took more than an hour of my time (and theirs), and placed my money of hold so it couldn't be used at all until released.
It could all be fixed by adding a message on their website saying they cannot provide business transfers at this time, or when you select "business" during the application process, it could pop up and tell you they cannot do it and decline the application.
They CHOOSE not to fix this, which leads to them harvesting all of you personal information including government identity documents, proof of address papers, etc, and NOT discarding it upon cancellation of your account!

I tried to send money, and the payment was on hold because they asked for a video of my face and photo of my license. I sent in a video and a photo of my license so then a few minutes later my payment was denied and my account was cancelled because of suspicious activity. I called to find out why this happened and they never answered my question. They never helped one bit and I'm baffled because it's my license my face and my debit card. Worst service to send money and the worst customer service I ever experienced. I feel like I was denied honestly because of the way I look. I do not recommend Remitly at all!

Beware of this company! Tried for the first time send a small amount of money just to see how the business doing. Took the money out of my account straight away, Send me over 6 emails requesting doing this and that. Just too much round and round I end it up canceling it, now we will see how long does it take to send my money back or maybe not even give it back. Not a trustworthy company at all. I think they used some sort of trick to make you can't write a review on their app in iOS App Store, keep saying I don't own the app but of course I used it already on my phone. And they use a fake comment to cover the bad ones.
I received a call from these people at 11:15 pm. From there the interrogation began. As usual. The caller's knowledge of English was poor at best. The caller want to know where I met the reciever. Have I ever had a meal with him. Why was I sending him money. 15 minutes of "none of your business questions". Finally the caller said that the transaction had been approved. Nuts to these people! I'll use Xoom from now on and pay a little higher fee.
Signed up on remitly to send money for a purchase. After entering details it kept asking me for more information to complete transaction each time I did it kept asking the same again on the third time it went through and i was able to review and authorise transaction. The next day i realised it processed all three attempts and i paid 3 x for one transaction that i authorised and it was too late to cancel. The only way they can redeem themselves if they can rectify this and i will review again. I contacted them and they said they would try. By the way every time i go into my account it still shows the transaction that has gone through as waiting for more information to complete, so if i did that i would pay a 4th time!

If the rating had "zero" I would have chosen that. Please use other services if possible. I was sending money to Nigeria, they asked me for two different documents and asked me to answer about four different questions over three days period which I did all. Some of the question was a repeat of a question I had already answered. I sent a copy of drivers license, a copy of pay stab as proof of income and all that. After all that, they called me to tell me they will cancel my transaction because they "noticed some suspicious activity..". This has been a very frustrating experience.
They have worse customer service, don't know what they are doing. When you call they will tell you everything going to be ok, but nothing really worked. They wasted extra 2 of my days of saying everything will be ok. Don't use this to send money, they worst of the world and have no professionalism. I would never use them again.
