So you see all these bad reviews of Restaurant.com. I took advantage of a great deal. 100 - $50 cards for $500 from Citi Easy Deals. That $4500 of free food Just avoid these assumptions: 1) It's not off any restaurant. Get a Visa Gift Card if you want that. Enjoy your fees. 2) It's not a free meal. It's up to half off the total bill. You can use the remainder elsewhere. 3) It's one use per restaurant per month. Not getting 1/2 price sushi every weekend. Goto a different restaurant tomorrow. 4) You have to log into the app to find the card to redeem. Yes it shows your name. Got to log in anyway. That bugs me! Lose one Star. 5) Let the server tap the screen to redeem. You will hit one of these the first time through. After that it's discount city. Got my food budget in line through some hard times.
The entire experience was a scam in conjunction with a travel service. Was promised $100 in Restaurant coupons for attending sales presentation. Spent hours on the phone, with email, and online trying to obtain four $25 restaurant certificates. Never received any certificates and gave up.
This is a scam. Here's the deal: I get a certificate from Restaurant.com for $15, then go to the restaurant and spend $25, redeem my certificate, yet the restaurant is out $10. You do the math! It's a scam.
Do NOT buy their discount coupons, they're a fraud! They get a restaurant to agree to allow them to help promote, then, without talking with the restaurants, sells 'discount coupons' that people expect to work. Then the restaurant won't honor the discount, and the customer gets angry with the restaurant, who are actually the injured party. Avoid restaurants.com like the plague!
After buying the $25 certificates, and attempting to use one, I found out that the $25 could only be used on a minimum order of $75 and only one certificate could be used. Very deceptive and never mentioned until after you have bought the certificates.
Scam! I bought 3 coupons for my favorite restaurant but when I tried to use the first one, I was told that the restaurant never authorized restaurant.com to issue these certificates. How embarrassing! Now I am out the amount I paid for the 3 coupons.
Utter crap. You HAVE to spend over the amount of the gift certificate you want.
Example, I want a $50 gift certificate. Guess what? I have to spend $75 on their site! Want a $25 gift card? You have to spend $37.50! So, basically, you have to buy two of the gift card you want, in order to actually get them. What a great scam.
AND! (I just found this out.) In addition to having to pay the "required" amount on the website, when you get your "gift certificate" is has the SAME requirements! So, on your two $50 gift certificates that you just forked over $100 for, you HAVE to spend $75 at the place in order to use it! Are you freaking kidding me!?
Currently Restaurant.com has a Class Action Lawsuit pending in the State of Florida (March 17,2011) for signing up companies that don't even exist or are Out-Of-Business and listing them on their webpages for consumers to purchase their certificates. Merchants complained in several States because restaurant.com is selling more certificates then the merchant agreed to, Instead of having a 90-Day expiration on each certificate, Restaurant.com changed the expiration to "Never Expires" on certificates without the knowledge to merchants and if the merchants refused to accept the coupons they could be sued for $17,000 by restaurant.com. Merchants would attempt to call or write to cancel contracts and instead Restaurant.com would state they never received their contract cancellation and would continue to sell certificates.
This is a horridly unstable app. I have complained for months now.
I have uninstalled. Downloaded and re-installed.
Still it is a piece of junk.
I even got a new Galaxy S6. It will not work on there.
You buy your credits.
You go to the restaurant.
It will NOT load your coupons to display to store owner.
On your second try it will freeze up and say - You have tried too many times. Wait awhile and try again.
This app should be Removed until it works property.
You will end up paying Full price with No Discount.
Horrid.
They sent me an email saying a certificate I had was for a restaurant no longer included. I never used it because it was useless even when the restaurant was still part of this scam site. I tried filling in the contact form; but the page does not submit, it just hangs. Big surprise. When I called the number above, it first told me to go to the website. That doesn't work. So then I pressed 2. I'm on hold. They say you can also email them at *******@restaurant.com. And in the time it took me to write the last few lines, the call magically disconnected. 5 times. SCAM! WHY IS THIS COMPANY STILL ABLE TO STEAL MONEY FROM PEOPLE?
Recently I purchased a certificate and the restaurant told me that they don't honor it. I asked for a refund from Restaurant. Com, but was told that they don't give refunds even when the certificate that they sold ('good forever") is not any good. They offered an exchange, but I want' my money back. By the way, the certificate was purchased only 36 days ago when it was dishonored by the restaurant. A wasted trip to a very expensive restaurant that cost much more than I had anticipated. I would not hove gone there had I known. Beware all of you out there.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME on this deviously laid out website. So you check the website and see all these deeply discounted coupons right?! That is until you check in with your email address and password and try to redeem your coupon, then poof they all disappear. It cant be done. It will say congratulations you may now search for your restaurant by putting in a zip code. Screw the fact that you already had a shopping cart full of your carefully picked out discounted choices. Now they got you one for one. You want that $10.00 coupon that you had in your shopping cart for 6 bucks? Sorry that will now cost you 10 bucks. If x out and check back in your shopping cart will be waiting for you with those nicely discounted coupons. You still want em'? Time to put in your VISA/MC SUCKER! GOT YA! Like I said don't waste your time or money or AIRLINE POINTS. Oh Yea a lot of the restaurants are dumps as well.
They are going door to door soliciting in neighborhoods that has strict no soliciting rules in Clearwater, FL. They are selling it as "free" discount offer if you answer some personal questions. I told them to get off my property as my 130lb Rottweiler was ready to rip them apart & the white trash girls was still trying to sell their.
Save your money and do not do business with this ripoff scam. I have tried 8 different places and either out of business or do not know how they got affiliated with this scam company but an absolute joke. When called they wanted my bank info to see my payment to them. I am in no way sending my bank info to a scam company as such.
I bought two restaurant.com coupons for a restaurant that I frequent. I went there two days later. The owner said that he never had any dealings with restaurant.com and could not honor any coupons. The owner said that he had received a few coupons in the days before I got there and did not make any deals with this company. They also took a copy of my coupon to cope with this problem. Do not give any money to this company. They also offered an additional $10- restaurant.com coupon which I did not receive. Do not lose your money to this company.
Bought a few 5 dollars food coupons with Sunly. Can only use 1 every month and must purchase at least 10 dollars. 99% item are under 10 dollars so you must buy 2! It is NOT a saving. It is a scam but legit!
They advertise you wont lose money, and you can swap easily. I had a $25 certificate for a restaurant that I paid $5. For. It went out of business. I expected another $25 certificate. No go. I ended up using a $5. Certificate that I paid $5. For. Goodbye Restaurant.com!
The worse site ever! Restaurant. Com e gift certificates are a fraud! This site falsely advertise the e gift certificate as if you could really redeem as advertised. They know you would not purchase if you were aware of all the restraints required by the participating restaurants. You do not save money, you actually have to spend more money than you had anticipated in order to use the e gift certificate. Please do not be fooled, Fraud, Fraud, Fraud!
I bought a certificate for a local Chinese restaurant this afternoon. I printed the certificate and went to the restaurant immediately. There was a sign on the door: "We do not accept Restaurant.com certificates." I spoke with the cashier who said that they had vever authorized Restaurant.com to offer certificates. Looks like a scam to me.
Tip for consumers:
Do not buy anything from Restaurant.com.
This restaurant sells coupons at restaurant(dot)com, but refuses to honor the coupon that you paid for. Do not go to this place, they were rude and treated me like I was trying to use a fake coupon or something.
*******832
600 Portion Road
Ronkonkoma, NY *******
Go ahead, look on restaurant(dot)com and they stil sell the coupons, but will not honor. Give them a call to ask if they honor it.
I purchased 2 gift cards from "restaurant.com" on Dec. 24,2013, one for my sister and family, and one for my brother and family. They were $100 gift cards for $40. I asked my siblings to let me know how it went, because I wanted to know if these would work. They mentioned nothing for a year, and finally I asked my sister what happened. She said that both tried to redeem them and couldn't. She said she tried 3 major cities in the Iowa-Minnesota area, and they couldn't find a restaurant that would take them. I've sent an email to them 2 days ago, a year later now, (12/15/14) and have not heard from them yet. After reading the reviews on SiteJabber, I would love, but don't expect a refund. It sure appears that this site is a scam for the unknowing person. I would not ever use their services again.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use it. Give cash.
I reveived a $50 certificate from my employer as a thank you and its practically unusable. I have tried for over half an hour to use the website, on my phone, on my desktop, different browsers, and the page is extremely slow. Every time you click a button is directs you to a 504 Gateway Timeout error. You cant log in, you cant see how where to use the certificate- nothing. What a waste of time.
Please trust me. I am just like you; college grad, looking for good deals for the girlfriend and myself. Ignoring websites like this because they're cheesy and people just complain. I bought the $100 gift card thing from Groupon, and thought it was an epic deal, too good to be true. I looked up one review of someone who was happy with it. And because of the pressure of the Groupon being limited-time-only, I bought it.
I didn't realize that you cannot combine "certificates", it is designed such that you will *always* have a balance at the end of your meal. To places you wouldn't usually go because they're struggling businesses. I'm sure I won't use any of the money on the card. I'll chalk this one up to a loss. You should avoid that.
Apparently this company finds that fixing their website is not a real issue. I bought a group on juts flat out could not use it on the website. The flaw being you follow the directions and input the code as instructed. It shows up gives the credit you save it. And when you try to purchase with the credit like a ghost it disappears. I tried a half dozen variations and the credit is gone each time. Attempts top contact Restaurant.com is a joke. They flat out do not respond. No customer service but they do collect money. Unethically Groupon policy is three days to egt money back and to contact Restaurant.com. Obviously i lost out here. Caveat emptor buyer beware. PS BBB gave them a very low rating
I worked for RDC for less than a year (average length of employment for employees who have integrity). This site is a SCAM. SCAM to the restaurant owners, scam to the people who buy certs. Sales staff does put in unauthorized restaurants because if they don't make their quota, they don't get paid! Worst of all, management and CEO are fully aware of their shady business practices, they just don't care. RDC is a perfect example of corporate greed in today's United States.
I want 0 stars. The restaurants that bought for did not accept the certificate. Besides I paid $25 for a $50 certificate then I had to buy $100 worth of food then tip which means I paid $75 for my food then a $20 tip which means I saved $5. Wow!
First-call their customer service and ask for the presidents office... they will NOT let you talk to anyone... raise any REDFLAGS? They have restaurants on here that when you sit down tell you they don't take the coupon! STAY AWAY. Plus their restaurants-a few are great-but most are overpriced and not very good
