So you see all these bad reviews of Restaurant.com. I took advantage of a great deal. 100 - $50 cards for $500 from Citi Easy Deals. That $4500 of free food Just avoid these assumptions: 1) It's not off any restaurant. Get a Visa Gift Card if you want that. Enjoy your fees. 2) It's not a free meal. It's up to half off the total bill. You can use the remainder elsewhere. 3) It's one use per restaurant per month. Not getting 1/2 price sushi every weekend. Goto a different restaurant tomorrow. 4) You have to log into the app to find the card to redeem. Yes it shows your name. Got to log in anyway. That bugs me! Lose one Star. 5) Let the server tap the screen to redeem. You will hit one of these the first time through. After that it's discount city. Got my food budget in line through some hard times.
The entire experience was a scam in conjunction with a travel service. Was promised $100 in Restaurant coupons for attending sales presentation. Spent hours on the phone, with email, and online trying to obtain four $25 restaurant certificates. Never received any certificates and gave up.
When you're paying a fraction of the savings offered, -- people need to keep it real on that it's not a Visa Gift Card. If you go to the website, put in your zip code, there are "Plenty" of restaurant options to select. Pull up code on your phone or print paper certificate. Follow instructions and 99% of the time, the restaurant will accept coupons as they get several a month as they're partners with this company. If a restaurant stopped accepting, which happens but is rare, then Restaurant Dot Com will give you new code to go elsewhere. Period, end of story. Follow the rules and the experience is ideal.
This company called my restaurant and spoke to a server, asking for address verification. We get these calls a lot for people trying to find us, so she didn't think much of it. Within days, a coupon was up on their website and people were presenting them, as they had PAID for them, expecting to be able to redeem them. When I called to request that they take it down, they said she had authorized it. Then they went on a five minute spiel about how I "didn't understand the value" they provided and it was clear to me what had most likely happened with her. Their sales pitch is one that makes it impossible to say no unless you just hang up. Zero stars. Zero trust. Will do zero business with these people. Ever.
Tried to purchase GC's via the site. Was "offered" an additional 40% that disappears when I try to check out.
Took my CC info and appeared to confirm sale. However, no email, and site says I have no GC to redeem. I don't see a charge on my Visa st this point; but if it shows up, that's going to be a problem.
No customer service on weekends, really?
Seems like either a scam or hassle. Either way, best to avoid
TOTAL SCAM. I purchased 2 travel vouchers and 2 restaurant vouchers from restaurant.com. They were supposed to provide savings codes to use with the travel vouchers. They cant be redeemed without a savings code. After multiple emails in which I received a generic response twice then no responses after that and never answering my question. The phone number provided has a recording that sends you to their web site if you have any questions. No live person or customer service extension is offered. I have asked for a refund but have not received any at this time.
The website is slow, and often times out before finishing loading. I put some gift certificates in my cart, which now won't load. Restaurant.com then sent a 'save an additional 40%' email, and the link within won't load. The restaurant selection is horrible. In a city filled with tons and tons of restaurants, how are there so few good-rated restaurants available in the restaurant.com selection? My favorite part is when I click on 'FAQ' or 'Get help', it takes me to a broken link. Clearly shows how much this company wants to assist its customers.
A bit confusing on how to use, it states:
$25 gift certificate -$10
Minimum purchase $50
No customer service appears available, there is a 1-800 number (although not on their website) and it is for Restaurant.com, however you will remain on hold and no one will ever talk to you. I am glad that I did not pay for this service as it seems like this would not be worth purchasing.
Only a few restaurants show up as available, one on my list closed the doors years ago. Not sure how many more years this company will be in business, doesn't seem to be good for either side of their customers (restaurants or patrons)
I purchased two of the heated vests as pictured on their website. After many many months of not receiving the product I contacted restaurant.com and the manufacturer. Restaurant.com responded but they evidently have no control over what is sold and what is pictured. Very very disappointed as the items only heated on the rear left shoulder blade. Heated vest is poorly made and it will only work with the battery supply they sell. I will never purchased any of their specials again. I do like their restaurant certificates and will continue to use them.
Tip for consumers:
Should have read the reviews.
Products used:
Heated vest
I bought 30$ worth of coupons. First time l tried to redeem one (rascals bar and grill)I was told they have never worked with restaurants.com and they do not honor their coupons. I emailed restaurants.com 2 times nobody ever contacted me. Don't waste your money
All I can say is do your research first. I purchased some certificates to use at a restaurant in our local mall which was listed on 5/30/2014. I tried to use them today only to be told that they do not participate any longer. Their words were "we have contacted them repeatedly and asked them to remove us from the program but they still have not done it". After managerial discussion I was kindly advised that I could not be compensated by restaurant.com then I can come back and they would honor my certificate this one time. I thought this was a very kind act. I notified R.com so they can remove them. Let's see what happens. I am not upset just very cautious after the experience.
I purchased 6 coupons for 6 different restaurants from this website and attempted to redeem them this month on different days. None of the restaurants excepted the coupons and stated that they had never signed up with Restaurant.com. The only thing restaurant.com offer you is a credit to purchase another worthless coupon. I would like a total refund but you can not reach a live person. I have a feeling this website is ran by a 50-year old unemployed single man living in his parents basement! Basically, they are just like Entertainment.com. SCAM ARTISTS!
I received a $50 restaurant.com gift card when I signed up for a membership at BJ's Wholesale Club (Jan 2016). Don't waste your money and time. Unable to redeem anything. Aggravating and frustrating website. This is one of the worst promotional scams I have ever seen. If you try to redeem a certificate the waitress/restaurant look at you like your crazy. They don't know anything about this. You have a discount your trying to claim on your mobile device?... DENIED! I'm cutting my card in half and throwing it away. I've got better things to do.
They sent me a message to my work email address. It's an "Important Message About Your Certificates" It appears that I have 2 certificates for restaurants that are no longer available in their program. I've never used this outfit. Ever. So had to check them out to see what their deal is. Apparently from the reviews I've read, they don't have a deal.
We won this "gift certificate" and we had to redeem them in 10 increments in which no where was there stated that it is basically a coupon that can only be used during certain times and one per table. Seriously? Only after we hit redeem did it show these limitations. Totally stupid. Don't waste your money.
They sold me a certificate to a restaurant that was out of business. Trying to exchange it for another certificate took me several hours and didn't work. Ultimately I asked my wife who is a computer expert t do it for me.
The site was so bad that she got directed to a place where she discovered she had bought another cert that we didn't want. I call the help desk number. After 20 minutes alex said "no refunds, tough luck". I finally got Bianca a supervisor who backed out the additional charge. It took me over 3 hours to get a trivial thing done. As soon as I use the exchanged cert I'm quitting these guys ASAP
Purchased Restaurant.com special for theater ticket and $50 restaurant.com gift card. (Meal and a play right?). The gift card ended up being for wine.com (hello... We don't drink) AND to redeem you had to make a substantial minimum purchase first. This is junk. They don't provide customer service support... I wanted to exchange. And no where in the "small print" did it indicate that in order to use the gift card you'd have to put out an additional 30% or that it would be for some non restaurant entity. I will NEVER use restaurant. Com again
Not worth your time or money. Over and over I told them how the restaurant I bought the certificate for was out of business, yet they keep re listing it. They gave me credit to use for other places, but the selection seems more and more limited and who knows what is actually in business from what's listed. They clearly insist on re listing an establishment regardless of it's current and indefinite status. I've even called to tell them, after the first time I noticed the original place was back for sale on their site. Again.
Purchased a number of paper certificates in 2015. One of the restaurants closed. When I contact restaurant.com to ask to exchange the paper certificate they provide instructions on how to exchange an electronic on line certificate.
I've been going in circles with these bozo's for weeks now and it's getting to no longer be worth it.
Add to that ridiculous rules associated with using the certificates, such as only being able to use one at a given restaurant per month?
Really not worth the hassle.
The service was horrible and very unprofessional.
Don't waste your time nor energy going into this racist place. We were treated like second class citizens the moment we walked in. No one greeted us and we had to go into the bar area in order to get menus and be seated. (strike 1)
They served a group that came in behind us and ignored that we were there. (strike 2) They ask for us to pay for our drinks and food before we got served. (strike 3) I then reported the incident to the manager who acted like he could have cared less. I then asked for my money back and explained to him that he and his staff were very unprofessional. As we were walking out the bartender was swirling a pocket knife at us. What a shame to display this type of racist behavior to a group of women in 2018. I will be telling everyone I know not to eat at this establishment. I'm shocked and embarrassed for them as they are ignorant. Never again.
What a rip off! Getting a refund is as bad as pulling teeth. I am not surprised that Restaurant.com has had class action lawsuits filed against them. I have dealt with restaurant's who refuse to honor the vouchers, have gone out of business and have poor attitudes when presented with the vouchers. Restaurant.com will not return emails and makes it impossible to get a refund. I would encourage everyone to stay away from this "BAIT & SWITCH" company!
When Restaurant.com started they had a good inventory of restaurants. Now, it appears that their inventory has shrunk to, marginal at best, restaurants. What is worse, they do not email nor notify users when restaurants drop the service.
Went to a restaurant in the SF Bay area last night, coupon was declined. Owner took my coupon and called it in to Restaurant.com to remind them that they no longer used the service. Pretty embarrassing.
I want to get my money back for my existing coupons but you can only transfer the coupons to other mediocre restaurants.
Their website has no contact phone numbers.
I bought a twenty five dollar certificate for 10 dollars. The ten dollars was charged to my credit card but the certificate was not put into my account. I e-mailed their customer service three weeks ago and received an auto reply that it might take 3 days for them to respond. Since I did not get a response I send an e-mail once again to customer service and received the same auto reply. There is no phone number for this company to talk with a live person. I have used their certificates many times and am normally happy with the company until now. Maybe they are going out of business. Be ware.
Why is it that some of these internet sites no longer provide a customer service number to talk to a live person? I have an issue with a prepaid gift card and it takes days to hear back from them (if at all). Their service has deteriorated and while in the past had no issues, I would currently be hard pressed to by another voucher from them.
I've had $15 certificates for 3 years that I keep exchanging for other ones because the places don't accept. Every restaurant has said they contacted restaurant.com and they are still on the site. Call first to see, also the majority of the time it seems like places about to go out of businesses at any time. Only once has my food been worth the price before coupon and that place eventually stopped accepting them. I no longer have a local place within 50 miles that accepts them despite 5 still being sold on their website. I have also emailed them each time I went to a place that didn't accept them, no response ever.
Spent too much time trying to find a telephone number to get someone to help. Finally found it, got someone help me number by number download my restaurant.com codes into my account. What a surprise, they never showed up, 7 x $25.00 codes no one can find them. The offices are closed at five central time. It's Friday and no one responded to any of the emails what a perfect mess stay far away from Restaurant.com. Been trying to work on this for days! Tried to download them myself. Of course, now it says codes invalid!
Don't waste your time!
Ordered two $15 gift certificates and paid a total of $12. Went to one of the listed restaurants for lunch with 3 other buddies. Good food; no problem having them accept the certificate. According to the rules you can only use one certificate per month, so will have to wait a month to go again. It is a bit of a clumsy system, but we did save a few $$. Printed the certificate on line as soon as I purchased it, which was a good feature.
