So you see all these bad reviews of Restaurant.com. I took advantage of a great deal. 100 - $50 cards for $500 from Citi Easy Deals. That $4500 of free food Just avoid these assumptions: 1) It's not off any restaurant. Get a Visa Gift Card if you want that. Enjoy your fees. 2) It's not a free meal. It's up to half off the total bill. You can use the remainder elsewhere. 3) It's one use per restaurant per month. Not getting 1/2 price sushi every weekend. Goto a different restaurant tomorrow. 4) You have to log into the app to find the card to redeem. Yes it shows your name. Got to log in anyway. That bugs me! Lose one Star. 5) Let the server tap the screen to redeem. You will hit one of these the first time through. After that it's discount city. Got my food budget in line through some hard times.
The entire experience was a scam in conjunction with a travel service. Was promised $100 in Restaurant coupons for attending sales presentation. Spent hours on the phone, with email, and online trying to obtain four $25 restaurant certificates. Never received any certificates and gave up.
Restaurant.com tried to defend their criminal behavior but paypal sided with me as they couldn't produce any signed contracts for any of the restaurants(This is a an automated email they send to defend their criminal company). I really wish i had researched the company before purchasing but glad to have 100% of my money back! Put in a claim via paypal and get your $$ back!
This site just creates vouchers for restaurants without their authority or approval. Could not use a single voucher at any of the restaurants they listed for as those restaurants all said they do not deal with restaurant.com and never gave their permission for them to start selling vouchers for restaurants that have no way of redeeming them. AVOID THIS CRIMINAL COMPANY
Tip for consumers:
AVOID THIS SCAM COMPANY

None! None of the products sold on this website are legak
Restaurant.com has been around since 1999 and I've been using it for years. The problem is that in the past few years Groupon and the Groupon clone sites started a new craze in "couponing" and now everyone assumes Restaurant.com works the same way and they get confused. If they simply read a few sentences to see what the restrictions are before making a purchase they will know what to expect and save.
While we had one reputable business that accepted these, many others were not on board and were not happy to accept a rest.com certificate. I just checked to see if there were any new places, and the website shows zero places in MS, AL, TX, FL, CA, NY. I don't know if the website is messed up or if they are out of business, but I have a bunch of unused certificates and no where to use them.
I went to El Fogon in Oak Creek on Friday night. When the waitress saw I had a Restaurant.com coupon, the price of the drinks went up by $1.50 each! What is that crap? I talked to the manager and she basically said too bad,"no one else complained". I had a whole big savings of one dollar! Wow! No more Restaurant.com coupons for me! That is for sure
Bought 4 $25 gift certificates to a restaurant. With each one you must spend $50. I used 1 back in June 2015 and I had 3 left. My husband and I went on a date and well our bill was $30. We were going to order food and just take it to go to reach our limit about. Come to find out the restaurant cancelled the deal with restaurant.com and I called customer service. I was notified I was sent an email (I was not! I have emails from 2013 in my all mail folder) they said they would not refund me in my original payment but a credit to their $#*!ty website for another purchase. No thank you! Keep my damn money because I wouldn't use your website again! I give them a 1 but if I could I would give a 0.
Ok, where to start. When you look at their site, they sell gift certificates of $25 for $10. I had a voucher that I tried to use. Couldn't find how so I called them. Found out that I had to put in the voucher info first before shopping. Well! Guess what happens then? All the prices change to full value and you get screwed!
So stay away from these crooks! Find another way to waste your hard earned cash, just NOT HERE AT RESTAURANTS.COM -the rip off site of the USA!
Since I just posted a very bad and angry opinion about livingsocial.com, I thought that I would post about a company with whom I have always had great experience. I must have purchased 50 coupons from restaurant.com. I have always found them to be an excellent value and the service very professional.
Don't use restaurant.com. Great prices for certificates but so many of the places listed are no longer in business. Restaurant.com says you have to "exchange" them for other choices on their site. However, the choices are very limited. Use your money for other discount sites like. Better selection for places that you have heard of and are in business. Disappointing.
Tip for consumers:
Other sites might be better
Don't ever buy or use this company. I received a card as a gift from an event I participated in. I used $15 of a $25 certificate. It showed a balance of $10 when I left. I came back to the use the rest and the money was gone. They sent me some ridiculous statement about having to use the entire $25 certificate. If so then why did it show a $10 balance? So bad.
Placed an order from Restaurant.Com,a special purchase, for solar lights thru Fitgenix.Order # *******.Never got the lights, got charged, can't get a response from Fitgenix, and when I did, after 5 emails was told they were out of stock, yet I was charged! As you see Restaurant,Com reviews are terrible and Fitgenix are even worse!I put in a dispute with my bank charge and will never deal with these companies aagain
Restaurant.com makes the deal sound appealing! When you go to redeem them you will just go round and round on website! The gift certificate is more like a coupon! You have to spend $75 to use $25 or $10 gift certificate! So basically I have a $100 b. S gift certificate aka "glorified coupon!"
The pizzahut 4001 4th st n st Petersburg fl are just terrible they don't even use real mozzarella cheese had a robelem 2 months ago thought id give them another chance couldn't even deliver a pizza o my house non helpful driver and manager of the store stay away fro this store bad news
Restaurants listed on website do not take the certificates, even though no expiration date. Scam! Restaurant owner says that they have not been in the program for over a year, yet they are still listed on the website. Certificates have no expiration date, yet restaurants refuse to take them. Have over a dozen certificates that are basically worthless. I recommend that you do not buy Restaurant.com certificates or gift cards.
So bought 2 $25 dollar gift certificates for 8 bucks total. Only to find out that it was just 25 dollars off of 40. So in the end i ended spending more then what i planned on spendig. It did not tell me this untill AFTER i had bought them.
I received three certificates and attempted to redeem them on my phone using their app. The first code was accepted, but then did not show up on my account. I attempted to use it again and it said it had been redeemed. I then logged in on my computer so I could see the full screen and redeemed the second code. It appears on my account on my PC, but does not appear on my phone app, which you need to use it at a restaurant. I am logged into my same account on both. The app is very buggy and won't let you exit some screens.
This is the most confusing web site I have ever encountered. It is virtually impossible to redeem a credit since they use two platforms. One is "theidealmeal" and the second is "restaurant.com."
I have gone through the process their customer service sent me and the end result was two exchanges did not appear. On a $100 gift card I redeemed I had a $25 balance and that is somewhere in cyberspace.
I have no idea why such a level of incompetency exists, but the fish does rot from the head down.
Using Groupon or Living Social is very user friendly and any credits are issued and visible without going to a different site.
I wish restaurants wouldn't participate on this certificate discount thing if they don't intend of really giving you a discount to come try out their restaurant. I wanted to make sure they knew I was using the certificate so I told them in advance. They then inform me that I can't use it for the special menu, If I didn't use the coupon, I would have paid less when the bill came. I paid $10 for the coupon and I paid more for the meal than if I had gotten the special weekday menu price. Why did they bother to participate with this so called discount? Scam.
Tip for consumers:
Do not buy the certificates. Just go eat at the restaurant. You will save yourself more money.
I have made two gift certificate purchases from restaurant.com and both restaurants told me they did not authorize or told restaurant.com to take them off of their website. After so much frustration and anger from the merchants they reluctantly honored my coupon. BUYER BEWARE! This can't be a well honorable legit site for discounts if the merchants are not on board.
Our restaurant did not sign up for this! A customer came in with a $25 coupon. Restaurant.com charged $10 and the customer gets $25 off their meal. Restaurant gets $0. Someone with restaurant.com needs to contact me and remove my restaurant from their list of approved restaurants.
We purchased $100 through United mileage plus program. What a scam! Tonight "When in Rome" restaurant in Bigford, Montana, said they have been trying to get their name off this program for 3 weeks now. No success yet.
We had a wonderful meal, too bad it was dampened by this swarmy program.
My daughter purchased two expensive "orchestra" seats for a theatre show for my birthday. Tickets never arrived and then they said they would leave in will call despite their notice "no will call". Seemed shady at that point too. But the CSR just said we will have them for you at will call no problem. If you have any problems, please call this number. When we arrived at "will call" the tickets were not available. Happy Birthday! Wow you are sorry people for running a business like this. I hope TUTS cancels you from purchasing any ticket blocks of seats. This was sold under *******@Restaturant.com in Houston.
BTW... Hobby Center - TUTS was Awesome and we were accommodated. Can't say enough good about their CSR's.
Tip for consumers:
BEWARE!! Don't purchase seats for theatre shows either. They are a very poor company, and do not send the tickets you pay for and pay extra to ship them to you.
I try to use restaurant.com gift certificates wherever I travel, as well as locally. My only problem with them is that lately, many restaurants have been dropping out. And the ones who have stayed have lowered their coupon values significantly.
I've never been told that my certificate wasn't good. There is no expiiration dates, and they are easily exchanged if the restaurant stops participating, or if you decide not to go there. Customer service has always been pleasant and cooperative.
I really don't understand why there are so many disgruntled former users.
Too many restrictions to be able to use. Got a $50 "gift certificate", have to spend a minimum of $100? Went the other day, had a $10 "gift certificate" that I had to spend $25 on. Ended up costing us $20 to save $10. Plus we had to pay a 18% gratuity to a "go up the counter, order your food, pick it up once your name is called" restaurant. Um, 18% gratuity for what service? Taking my order? Fuzzy math, horrible deal for consumers and restaurants.
Good luck trying to find a place to use these stupid things.
I do love the way that places try and offer these stupid certificates to you like $100 of dining! When it's impossible to find a place nearby to use them. If you DO want to compromise and eat some place you don't, you're basically getting $10-$15 off a meal assuming you spend $30+ on it.
I blame Groupon for steering me here. The restaurant told me they hadn't dealt with Restaurant.com for months, and were apologetic I had been suckered into paying for a worthless coupon. There are no refunds; instead an exchange which may be just as worthless. Stay away...
