“Up to 50% off on a meal, once a month per restaurant. Read the rules.”

So you see all these bad reviews of Restaurant.com. I took advantage of a great deal. 100 - $50 cards for $500 from Citi Easy Deals. That $4500 of free food Just avoid these assumptions: 1) It's not off any restaurant. Get a Visa Gift Card if you want that. Enjoy your fees. 2) It's not a free meal. It's up to half off the total bill. You can use the remainder elsewhere. 3) It's one use per restaurant per month. Not getting 1/2 price sushi every weekend. Goto a different restaurant tomorrow. 4) You have to log into the app to find the card to redeem. Yes it shows your name. Got to log in anyway. That bugs me! Lose one Star. 5) Let the server tap the screen to redeem. You will hit one of these the first time through. After that it's discount city. Got my food budget in line through some hard times.

“A scam”

richard t.
11/1/24

The entire experience was a scam in conjunction with a travel service. Was promised $100 in Restaurant coupons for attending sales presentation. Spent hours on the phone, with email, and online trying to obtain four $25 restaurant certificates. Never received any certificates and gave up.

I bought a voucher for The Hot Grill at this website. The restaurant didn't accept the voucher. I reported to restaurant.com, but they didn't remove the Hit Grill out of their listing. This website is unreliable.

Don't get fooled by the prices shown on their website or promotions as it is not worth it when you try to redeem what you purchased. Like most customer's complaints, redeeming the vouchers is a joke - that is if you can login to their website at all. Their website is unresponsive just attempting to login (either via a laptop or mobile phone/app) so if you can't login and view your vouchers, you can't redeem. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid - you have been warned...

You have to spend $$ to use the vouchers. Very limited restaurants that participate. Lots of restrictions. Most of the places I had never heard of. You end up going somewhere you wouldn't even try if you didn't have a voucher for. I thought it was a waste of my dollars.

I signed up and purchased a number of PAPER certificates, not posted to my online account when this just opened. Of course I didn't use them for quite some time and one of the restaurants closed. I contacted their customer support to see if I could get the PAPER certificate exchanged to another restaurant. They keep telling me to log into my account and click on the electronic certificate to exchange it. They aren't even reading my email explaining that I have no electronic certificates and am trying to exchange a PAPER certificate they issued to me when they started their service.

They are a bunch of Bozos working in customer support.

Do not purchase certificates from these guys.

I have had "money" in here since 2016... they have NO places worth going to anywhere near me except Marcos. I called and had the rudest guy on the phone... Tried telling him there were no places near me and the few that were 30 miles away, we would NOT go to.
Great concept, bad marketing and getting NEW and BETTER places

My friend told me to attend this seminar where they sell vacation packages and in exchange for the 90 minutes seat down and listening to the agents trying to sell you tickets you will get a free $100.00 gift card regardless if you buy their vacation packages or not. I surely did get mine "RESTAURANT.COM" gift card. It is a waste of time, they want you to sign in to restaurant.com and upload their apps and whole bunch of run around. I thought I was done when I did mine and went to Soup Plantation where I thought I could use the card BUT the gift card was not accepted. I checked online again and found out that there are only a few restaurants that accepts the said gift card and reading all the consumer's reviews made me feel I don't want to waste more time dealing with this mess!

Restaurant.com is a rip-off and a joke. Got a free coupon from a car deal close to home. Went to use it the next day think it would be nice to get a meal and not come out of girlfriend pocket(me not working now). Got there and ate, only to find out when time to pay that the coupon wasn't honored because they have a (50$ min cost to use it). So the joke on everyone that uses this site not getting a deal just a big headache!

Tip for consumers:
don't use

I purchased 2 giftcards from this website and have spent three months emailing abck and forth with their "custoimer service" reps just to change the password on my account. I reset the password months ago and the new password on my account never worked, nor has the multiple "internal passwords" assigned and offered to me from the customer service. If you experience any difficulty with the website in general, do not expect a response for over a week, and it will be an auto-generated message.

This website is a waste of time and money and I will never use it again.

I bought the "GC", but later read the fine print that the minimum spent has to be doubled that at Sencha Tea. So I called back to customer service, and explain to the customer associate that I had made the mistake of not reading the fine print. It was my fault for doing so, and I would like to get my refund back. Samantha was very nice and understanding and said she will do a one time courtesy refund, which is all that I need because I've learned my lesson from this. She also said it would take 3 to 5 business days for the refund for me to receive an e-mail about the refund. To my surprise, I received it the next day and my refund the day after that. So yes, it was misleading the way they advertised it, but their customer service reps are very courteous and friendly and for that they get a five star review from me. Thank you Samantha for your assistance!

I know that I am one person, with a normally calm disposition. However, when wronged I will go out of my way to let my story be known and try to stop people from patronizing that business.

That being said, restaurant.com is now dead to me. I had received a $50 gift card after the purchase of a new car. I have had the card for a few months, and had opened an account and entered the card information at that time. I went to use the account yesterday, and saw the gift card was not listed. I tried to reenter it, and was unsuccessful.

I called customer service, and was informed that the card was accessed on a different account, not used, but cannot be used by me. Wrong answer.

In short, all I would like is what is mine. A $50 gift card to try. Short of that, my mission will be to tell anyone within ear shot that restaurant.com is a company that does not deserve your time or money.

Tried again and again to redeem the $25 code as a gift from T-Mobile Tuesday. The credit says that it applied, and I select my restaurant, but there is no voucher anywhere to be found in my account. Also, I tried the code 4 times, and each time it says it 'applied' the credit. The broken site is a joke as well, I wouldn't trust them with my credit card number as all signs point to a scam site. A little disappointed T-Mobile didn't look into the company they partnered with.

Verizon had a deal for 1,000 points you get a free $25 gift card. I should have saved my points because no restraunts within a 100 miles will even accept it, should have saved my points cause even getting this at no cost is a bad deal. I will send the card to my sister who don't like me, as a Christmas present.

This place uses restaurants to build there website, while the restaurants are the only ones to take a lost. Restaurant.com has everything to gain. Called in the remove my restaurant and the rep was one of the rustiest people I've ever spot with. After asking 20 times to remove my business from the site and his rude mouthpiece. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he hung up. This place is a scam. They are some fast talkers when trying to sign you up, but when you want out it's like pulling teeth. Called back and the next guy said the last guy removed my business from the site. I again asked to speak to a supervisor and he insisted his supervisor was in a meeting. I requested a call back and ask his supervisor name he then stated "oh I have three"... all in a meeting...

The worst app and webite ever. This app and site have potential but some greedy principals brought it to a downward spiral. Greed and lack of vision and reinvesting money on good IT and structure is the only word to describe what happened here. Wake up young app builders and create a new more competitive version, alternate to groupon.

Don't waste your time. They blow. This company takes advantage of local businesses. They get the businesses to agree to sell their food a 50% and then charge the customer to buy the coupons from restaurant.com. In the long run the customer pays 75 to 90 percent of regular price and the business receives 50% of regular price. I'd rather have that money go to my local businesses than Restauraunt.com.

I received a "gift card" for doing business with a hotel. First red flag - i had to register to redeem it. Second red flag - the site REALLY pushes it's mobile app. Third red flag - i get the error - Oops! This code is already saved to another account. When i try to redeem. I created an account with the email address i received the gift card from so there's no reason this shouldn't work. This is what brought me to sitejabber. I think Restaurant.com's business model is to obtain data via thier mobile app.

I attempted to use a gift card from restaurant.com over the weekend just to learn that it wasn't accepted at one of the recommended places on their list. It is too difficult to use, and I had to pay the bill without using the card. I am very disappointed about this card.

Don't rely on their mobile application! Restuarant.com likes to tout their mobile app, which purportedly would allow you to use a certificate simply by showing the cert from your mobile phone or device. I've had three experiences already where restaurants refuse to accept the certificate from the mobile phone and say that they require the paper.

If you don't know whether or not a restaurant will accept the the mobile app, you might just as well print out the paper every time. It renders the mobile app useless.

Purchased a "special" to see Cirque Du Soleil show. The day of my show I was unable to open the file with my tickets. It was a weekend and there was no place to call for customer service. I Went down to the box office to show the Cirque people the confirmation from Restaurant.com to see if they could access the tickets. They couldn't either and said that they had ongoing problems with Restaurant.com. We had to purchase new tickets ($300). Called customer service that Monday morning and I gotten the run around ever since. They basically say "sorry" but we sent you the tickets and I say "the file was corrupt and I couldn't open it!" Awful, awful company. They won't be in business that much longer. Stay away!

Recd a "gift card" from local AAA for joining. Finally found a restaurant that took the card. Horrible, dark, smoked-filled dive lounge in Virginia Beach. (Bad reviews didn't show up on Restaurant.com's site--even after I put one in.) Didn't realize the card was really just a coupon for a buy-one, get-one--so wasted $$ purchasing "certificates" in advance that we couldn't use bc the place was terrible, and we were on vacation and wouldn't be returning to the area. Company deducted full price of item from card--not discount price listed. Complete scam. NO response from the company when I sent in multiple emails to complain and get resolution. Sent email to AAA to let them know of problems. Do NOT use this card. Confusing, dishonest, not as advertised.

This isn't a site for buying gift cards. This is a site for buying coupons that have very specific and limited eligibility. And coupons should never cost anything. If you buy this for someone as a gift, they'll have to spend a certain about (usually $25-50, sometimes $75) in order to even use the gift card. So, that's a HORRIBLE gift idea. It'd be like clipping a coupon out of the newspaper and gifting it to someone, except you had to pay for the clipping. Also, the choice of restaurants is very limited, and most of those choices aren't very good restaurants. You are much better off just waiting for a restaurant you actually want to eat at to be offering a promotion. Or, if a gift, just buy somebody an actual gift card to a restaurant you know they'll like.

I used to work at a call center in México city where they forced the reps to lie to the restaurants in order to make them confirm their info so they could récord that and list them even when whoever answered was not the owner or mánager. Also we did not get payed most of the times and did not have law benefits. The mánager would sleep with the boss in order to do whatever she wanted. Her name was E. you can verify calling *******156 they will say they are located in San Antonio but they are actually in México also they mostly scam latino restaurants as it ia easier for language reasons

We, Fuze Asian Grille, never signed up for restaurant.com's coupons or certificates or is not affiliated with it whatsoever. Still, customers are coming with its coupons or certificates and when I checked the website, I found out that restaurant.com is giving certificates to site visitors way less than its original price.
Again, We, Fuze Asian Grielle, never signed up for restaurant.com coupons or certificates or is not affiliated with restaurant.com whatsoever and we do not honor any of its certificates or coupons.

Restaurant.com should pay respect to other business.

I will say that all of the rules are included with each purchase and I usually read everything before I sign up for things online. With that being said, the merchants that I know that have signed up don't like it very much and the deal isn't that great after they tack on the minimum order, the mandatory 18% gratuity, and tax. I bought a few certificates for a restaurant I frequent with my son and was told that they will accept the one I presented this time but I couldn't redeem others. When I got home I called the restaurant.com customer service and let them know that I had 3 certificates that would not be honored and they immediately credited me back for the unused certificates. The customer service was good... the deals are not so good. Just be sure to read the rules and decide from there what you want to do.
