So you see all these bad reviews of Restaurant.com. I took advantage of a great deal. 100 - $50 cards for $500 from Citi Easy Deals. That $4500 of free food Just avoid these assumptions: 1) It's not off any restaurant. Get a Visa Gift Card if you want that. Enjoy your fees. 2) It's not a free meal. It's up to half off the total bill. You can use the remainder elsewhere. 3) It's one use per restaurant per month. Not getting 1/2 price sushi every weekend. Goto a different restaurant tomorrow. 4) You have to log into the app to find the card to redeem. Yes it shows your name. Got to log in anyway. That bugs me! Lose one Star. 5) Let the server tap the screen to redeem. You will hit one of these the first time through. After that it's discount city. Got my food budget in line through some hard times.
The entire experience was a scam in conjunction with a travel service. Was promised $100 in Restaurant coupons for attending sales presentation. Spent hours on the phone, with email, and online trying to obtain four $25 restaurant certificates. Never received any certificates and gave up.
I live in a suburb very close to the Chicago city limits. There should be lots of options but there are not. There are no restaurants near me, or they are either out of business, will not accept the coupons or the minimum purchase is so high it's not worth it. I wish I could give this a negative review.
I purchased gift certificates for 2 restaurants, only to find they had been closed for months before they were offered on Restaurant.com. They would not refund my money but told me I had to exchange them for another restaurant. I had a total of 10 choices 3 that I know of were closed for business, 2 were "sold out" and the rest I don't know about yet. I purchased through Ebates (who I love) and filed a complaint with them, advising they drop this scam of a company from their offerings.
They make an offer that's too good to be true, and... it is. They're not selling gift certificates or anything like that; they're selling fake coupons that the restaurants don't take. I brought one to a nearby restaurant and they'd never heard of it, and said I'd been scammed. I don't even know why I tried to use it; it looked fake.
No answer from customer support over there at all, phone or email. I ended up having to file a chargeback. No idea why they think they can sell gift cards to random businesses they have no relationship with, but they need to stop.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use this site. It's a scam.

Why does my app spin forever. No customer service to talk with? Your app really sucks! Too bad I have to give one star to a zero star app. Someone in Illinois needs to pay them a visit, maybe get them on "60 Minutes" for an interview!
I have tried to use this site so many times, and it is absolutely horrible. I have $200 worth of coupons that I got for taking a tour, and I can't even use them because there is only ONE participating restaurant in my area. Such a waste.
Borderline fraud. As everyone has said, they are simply criminals operating in a grey area selling coupons. Don't waste your time. After they rip you off with lies (restuarants are offered that are not affiliated) they will exchange but will not give you a refund. Go ahead, keep the 3.60. I'm sure you need it more than I do.
Devil in the details... You give them $10 to buy a $25 certificate. Nearly all restaurants then require a $50 purchase so you are already sucked in for at least $35 out of pocket.
Then take a look at the restaurant list, most are straight out of kitchen nightmares and are the only ones who will advertise on such a crappy service.
In the end... you spent $35 for a $20 meal at some crappy restaurant you will never go back to because the service and food are lousy.
Most of the restaurants I originally purchased certificates for say they no longer accept them. Today we dined at el farol in santa fe which restaurant.com says does accept certificates, and they declined certificate!
If I could leave a review with "zero" stars, I would. I've tried to redeem a card on three different browsers (Google Chrome, Safari, and Firefox) and not one of them worked correctly. I can't get off page 1 of 10. I can't even select a restaurant that's on page one. All I get is a "504" error page telling me it's taking too long to load. This company is total bull$#*! and a ripoff. Take your money and go have a good meal with it, because if you leave it in Restaurant.com's hands, you'll kiss it goodbye. /:-(
Purchased 6 tickets for Book of Mormon in Philadelphia. Chose the upgraded center mezzanine seat price of $94.99 ($99 with fees). Received my tickets, which have $74.99, center rear mezzanine, printed on them. Called restaurant.com and basically got some ridiculous explanation. Same seats can be purchased for $77 (or less) on telecharge. Don't EVER be sucked in by one of their "specials."
Too many restrictions and limitations on how coupons can be used. In the long run you have to order double the amount of the coupon you have. Coupons are assigned a zip code where you have to use them plus you can only use one per month. I ended up unable to find an eligible restaurant that would take the coupons and where I could spend the correct amount. Threw away $100 in coupons - too much trouble.
I completed a lengthy survey after attending an event and received a "$25 restaurant.com gift certificate"... I go to the website to redeem the code and every single place has a minimum of $45 or $50 purchase... for a $25 gift card? Basically these aren't gift cards, just another mode of advertisement for the lack luster restaurants listed on their site. Almost all of the available options are not in my town, and when they are by the time I reach their minimum I'm already spending as I normally would without a card! I never spend $50 at a mexican restaurant or the small BBQ joint in our town. Give me a break. What a waste of time.
Don't do it! What a total waste of money. Purchased restaurant gift card and when I went there to eat the restaurant said they were no longer participating. I would not have gone to this restaurant in the first place if it wasn't for the certificate. These disgusting scam artists will not give you a refund either. These people should be put out of business.
Most useless purchase I can recall making. You have to spend so much for a restaurant that may be mediocre at best. I haven't successfully use a single certificate. The restaurant I requested a certificate for in 2019 closed 3 months later. Just today I got an email reminding me to use my certificate. Really?
This site sold me 4 25-dollar restaurant gift cards for $17. What I did not realize (and I am to blame for falling prey) is that everywhere these gift cards are redeemable require an astronomical minimum spent to use the gift card ($50-100).
I was inclined to trust the offer because it was sent to me on my company e-mail as a part of our PerkSpot-huge mistake.
This product, in particular, is a complete rip-off and all consumers would do well to avoid this site.
I purchased certificates of 3 different restaurants, they charged my card, sent me a confirmation email with a link to print the certificates with a surprise/shock waiting for me. My account says( as of this moment) "There are no certificates for this account". I first searched for the phone number to reach the customer service representative, but there is no phone number at all. However, I sent them an email with the details, and guess what, they replied with the general information on their website. I tried to get to a live person but all in vein. Now, I am worried that they will use my credit card illegally. I also contacted my credit card company and informed them about it, they advised me to dispute the charge, which I am going to do now.
Big NO NO, stay away from the temptation of getting discounted certificates from this website.
This has to be the worst customer service company I have every dealt with. Spoke to one representative after waiting 48 minutes on one call then another 53 minutes on another call. Then the rep sent me an email stating that all I have to do is email her and she would call me back. This NEVER happened after emailing her 3 times. I even told her I was going to write a review or Yelp the company. I also told her to have her supervisor call me yet to no avail.
Some restaurants that are on the web site and some have said they haven't been on for months and have called the company to take them off. So very frustrating to go somewhere and be told we no longer are on the program. How do you get your money back is my concern from restaurant.com?
Would love to have some one in upper management call me to discuss the issues I have.
Went to Coopers Hawk to an Astra Zeneca meeting on 3/18/2015. From the minute we walked in the door the two waitress were very rude. They acted like it was a burden to have to serve us and also told us that we couldn't order our steaks cooked any way but medium. The never filled our wine glasses the way they were suppose to and never brought us any boxes for carry out. This is bad business and I would certainly think with manners such as this and the poor customer that they will not get our business again.
I had United Airline's mileage and was about to expire. Then, I used all of mileage to get restaurant.com certificate last night. I just saw simple terms and condition you have to do minimum purchase $40 to use this certificate. Then, I ordered more than 20 certificates. After that, certificates were sent by email and I checked the certificates. Its terms and condition says only 1 certificate may be deemed per party, per month, per restaurant. These guys did scam for me. I called customer service and they said its general terms and condition but they never showed it before I purchase. Again, this is fraud. The guy said they can credit back the point or something which can be used to purchase certificate again. I wanted United mileage back to my United account but they guy asked to talk to United. IM EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE! Dont use restaurant.com!
Ordered the certificate 01-18-2010 and haven't received it yet. Today is 02-10-2010. I e-mailed Restaurant.com twise with no response. I called and customer service was unable to solve the problem. Said they will have a 'supervisor' call me. Hope someone does, or else I will also dispute it with my credit card and make sure everyone knows about it. The rep asked me how do I know my confirmation number, when given by me! I received an e-mail confirming my purchase the same day and she didn't know we receive that? Or is she implying I am lying/stealing? She said there is no way to know if the card was used! What's going on? I will see in the next day or so, and take other measures.
Food was horrendous. I bought a burger ($18), it was on a stale bun (the kind that falls apart when you hold it), they put two thin dried nasty burgers that were made a week ago. I could not eat it, I tried like hell cuz I was hungry and I had a long flight, I still have the taste in my mouth, and I tell you, it takes a lot for me to complain, I have never written a review on a restaurant before in my life. My cousin bought a grilled fish sandwich. He didn't even try to eat it as it was dry and looked like it sat on the counter over night. I wish I would have done the same, oh how I wish! But I can't, so all I can do now is warn other travelers not to give hard earned $ to this place. Go to McDonald's instead, it will be 1000x's better I promise below is the receipt that I was given from my cousins fish sandwich return. Since you order and purchase online at the table, I don't have a receipt (except for my credit card)
Tip for consumers:
Don’t eat here, chew on your sneaker, it will taste better

Should have read reviews. Bought certificates and gift cards. First restaurant said they quit taking these 2 years ago. Only 8 restaurants on the list. 2 restaurants did take certificates- 2 restaurants have closed. No one has taken gift cards so far. App and website are totally rediculous to navigate and keep sending you back to same place after having you put in your password again and again. Do not buy!
Tip for consumers:
Read the reviews

I have a new credit of $25 with this company because several years ago I bought a coupon and when we went to the bbq place, they would only accept it if we spent double the $25 and not the $35 it stated, We couldn't eat that much and they didn't allow take-out with coupon. Even though they are a walk-up order and do drop off your food, you get your own drinks, napkins, etc. I was told they still added in the 18% tip as stated on coupon. Needless to say, we left. Now this credit shows up years later, but with my special code, I pay the same for the coupon as its value. Why would I want to hassle with ordering extra food and paying dollar for dollar for a coupon? Some of it was my money in the first place, but I marked it up to a lost cause a long time ago. Restaurant.com may not be a scam, but is definitely a bit shady.
Review of Restaurant.com. There is no deal for the consumer here for the most part. Spent $10 for a $25 certificate. I had to spend at least $35 for the dinner... but of course due to the restaurant's menu prices I had to spend $45... then had to pay a high NY tax rate on that... and tip of 18% was automatically added to $45 bucks dinner for two (for practically no service)... and for cheap Mexican food. Where is the deal? Perhaps if you are spending 50 on steak and lobster it would have been worth it, but then again... for 2 dinner's I would have had to spend $100... so buyer BEWARE!
Entered in my 2 gift cards and when I went to redeem they were gone! No balance! Entered them in again and there was an error that the cards were already used. But I never used them.
Emailed customer help, and they sent what seemed to be an automated message on how to enter in the gift card. Emailed them 2 more times and nothing, no response.
This garbage site seems like a major scam.
