So you see all these bad reviews of Restaurant.com. I took advantage of a great deal. 100 - $50 cards for $500 from Citi Easy Deals. That $4500 of free food Just avoid these assumptions: 1) It's not off any restaurant. Get a Visa Gift Card if you want that. Enjoy your fees. 2) It's not a free meal. It's up to half off the total bill. You can use the remainder elsewhere. 3) It's one use per restaurant per month. Not getting 1/2 price sushi every weekend. Goto a different restaurant tomorrow. 4) You have to log into the app to find the card to redeem. Yes it shows your name. Got to log in anyway. That bugs me! Lose one Star. 5) Let the server tap the screen to redeem. You will hit one of these the first time through. After that it's discount city. Got my food budget in line through some hard times.
The entire experience was a scam in conjunction with a travel service. Was promised $100 in Restaurant coupons for attending sales presentation. Spent hours on the phone, with email, and online trying to obtain four $25 restaurant certificates. Never received any certificates and gave up.
I am a restaurant owner that has been trying to cancel with Restaurant.com and am receiving the run around. Told I need 30 days notice then explained after the 30 days I will have to participate in an exit call where they will contact me to discuss my cancellation and then after that occurs they will schedule my business to be removed from their site.
They constantly change the restrictions of the coupons without consulting the businesses. They state they send emails as their notifications but an email is never received by us. They state it is not a fail safe system but there is nothing they can do and will not change the restrictions.
Restaurant.com does NOT share the money collected from the guest with restaurants and is a scam.
I was so excited when I received my 3 $100.00 restaurant.com dining cards. However, I've had them for 6 months now and I haven't been able to use them... due to the confusion of HOW to use them! Here is what I did find out.
1. if the restaurant only offers a $5.00 certificate on restaurant.com. I go in with my family and the bill comes to $75.00. I can only redeem my $100.00 gift card for $5.00. THAT'S what the guy I spoke to said.
2. I redeemed my $100.00 gift card to a restaurant that only allows me to use $50.00. I got two gift certificates of $50.00 for that restaurant. If my bill is $150.00, I can only use 1 $50.00 gift certificate AND i can't use that other gift certificate at that same restaurant for another 30 days!
I don't know about you but that's just too much to stress about when you're trying to go out to enjoy food. I guess I won't be using these... I'm already stressed out thinking about how to redeem them... I'm done!
Don't risk your money. I bought a discount coupon for a local restaurant, then when I went to use it found out the restaurant the coupon was for had gone under 6 months earlier and was under new management. Asked for my money back from Restaurant.com but never heard from them.
We own a restaurant and the previous owner listed the restaurant on this site. We have tried extensively to try and get in contact with someone to get the restaurant taken off the site, there is no one to reach! Multiple emails sent, Dms, twitter, phone calls. No exaggeration. We feel bad when customers come in and we tell them that we do not accept their certificates, but what else can we do. Scam
I am a long time member of Restaurant.com and enjoyed the site and the certificates for many years. Now it's gone to the dogs... bogus email alerts, inability to exchange certificates at defunct restaurants, disappearing credits and non-existent customer service. Really a shame it's gone rogue!
I received an email from my cell phone company telling me that if I switched to paperless bills they would give me $25 for restaurant.com. Great! I switched and went to the site to redeem my certificate and take my wife out to eat. Worst business ever.
You have to make minimum purchases when you buy the gift certificate on line... then when you get to the restaurant you can only use the money you paid to get the certificate on certain items and even then you can only use it if you spend a certain previous set amount, always more than the certificate you already purchased. Done Waste Your Time.
Was going to Hawaii on vacation and saw the ad for restaurant.com. Curious to see if they had any coupons for the area I was visiting. They listed a restaurant, so I bought two for the same restaurant they advertised. I read the fine print which said I/we had to spend $50 to use a certificate. After doing so, we were told they were not actually affiliated with Restaurant.com and the manager laughed at us for falling for the scam. He explained they just use the names of restaurants they look up.
I had 2 $25 certificates to this site. I got one coupon for $10 off of $25... then i tried to get another coupon and it asks for my credit card number. Like i have a Zero balance on the site. ITS BS. I dont know why i even tried... Waste of time!
I thought it was a good deal. NO. For 30.00 I got 100.00 toward restaurant $, but the restaurants listed wanted you to buy a minimum of 50.00 food to use 25.00 toward the final purchase price. I wrote Restaurant.com three times asking for a refund. They wrote back a lot of crap of how to use the coupons.
I just came from another restaurant that Restaurant.com has listed on their web site that will not accept a Restaurant.com voucher. I'm having very difficult time finding a restaurant that does. Even worse when I tell Restaurant.com about a restaurant that refuses to take one of their voucehers that restaurant is still listed even after months / years being told.
Tip for consumers:
Contact the restaurant to make sure they honor a Restaurant.com voucher before you buy one. Use the voucher the same day to avoid getting stuck with a worthless voucher if the restaurant changes acceptance.
Disappointed about Little Caesars In Albemarle I was a little late getting there he took the payment told me to pull up the white line ( I will ask to see the food first from the time I placed the order It only took 43 minutes...
Got both orders of wings wrong pizza was correct but cold
The guy who took the payment said my order would be out in couple minutes Boy was he wrong...
If the order is wrong why not on time?
The guy s name is sorry sorry sorry
Told me to pull up so he could wait on Customers...
So after you get my money I am no longer customer?
I've use Restaurant.com a couple times now and no issues. I pay $10 for a $25 certificates (sometimes restaruant.com runs specials for cheaper). Usually the only fine print is a $50 minimum, which I understand and have no issue meeting with my family. I redeem right off my phone and have always been welcomed. Nice for me to get a little discount and nice for the restaurant because I seek them out and I spend a bit more than the minimum.
Wow I wish 0 stars was an option. I never received the certificate I ordered and promptly went online to resolve. First they said that my email didn't exist so I tried starting a new account only to be told that an account with that email already existed. Multiple attempts at resetting it failed because the codes they said they were sending never arrived. I reached out through their support link and requested a refund stating that the certificate would no longer be of use to me since I only needed it for a specific date (already passed due to their error). I was told that they do not issue refunds and was offered a 2nd certificate for the same restaurant at a further discount. If I no longer have use for the first one why would I want two? I wish I had read the reviews first!
This is the sketchiest website I have ever dealt with. They want you to purchase their gift cards, then get so fed up with their *%&#ed up website that you give up and throw your certificates in the trash. Don't waste your time.
Can't believe T-Mobile would actually partner with and promote this service. They list very few websites, and of those listed, very few actually accept their vouchers. Those that do have ridiculous minimum purchase requirements.
Bogus! I am a business owner that is represented on this site. I in no way endorse, condone, participate with this company. Customers show up with a coupon they purchased and get ugly when I do not honor them. This is a scam!
I have several certificates, but most of the restaurants say they are not participating. I had this problem a couple of years ago and hoped it had been corrected, but it hasn't. I will never have anything to do with this company once I get this straightened out.
I follow all of the instructions on the page and on the T-Mobile Tuesday given to me. I used my $25.00 to purchase 2 certificates and now I can't find them anywhere. It was a waste of time I hope T-Mobile gets their money back from this website.
I bought 7 $50.00 restaurant.com cards and did not know tgat you do not get the $50.00 value. You have to buy a restaurant or businesses certificate and they have a minimum that you must spend to redeem restaurant.com. But they problem is that I cannot buy enough certificates to cover the purchase requirements. I wanted to order the $65.00 amount required from Midnight Perfumery, but they only accept 1 $25.00 certificate and I have to pay the other $40.00 out if pocket. How is this a good deal? I am out money all the way around.
Purchased special - for $30, get 2 movie tickets and $100 in food. We did this once before and it worked. This last time, the tickets expired at a certain date, but when we went to print them, we found the fine print that they had to be processed and printed at an earlier date. So now we're out. Too much fine print and gotcha's built in. Their site is difficult to navigate - had to call their help line to get that purchase to show up in my account originally. And of course you only get B1G1 essentially for the dollars - not simply (that word again - 'simple' that doesn't apply to them) dollars off. Too much hassle for me. I won't be using them again.
We are a restaurant that refuses to be advertised on their website. I have been dealing with them for 1.5 years now, sent 3 BBB complaints about them and still, after periods of glorious absent silence, they return. They are like a bad std that keeps flaring up. They do have one solid customer service person, Dee K. She actually has some customer service chops, and the others falter when you dish out the same annoyance to them. I pray that nobody uses this site ever. Please stop the calls and please stop the continued support of bad restaurants that need them. Unfortunately, if the restaurant they have on there struggles, let them die. The idea of passing on the savings to the consumer is killing the margins on the restaurant. Let them all die to make restaurant.com pass away.
Bought a certificate for a restaurant that no longer accepts them. Just great, it was not in my budget to swallow the entire bill. And to add insult to injury, all you can do is exchange, no refunds. Not a great option if you live out in the boonies like I do, since comparable alternative are nonexistent. Restaurant.com is no longer accepted by me!
Within 3 weeks of purchasing/attempting to use a Restaurants.com gift certificate, the restaurant told us they were no longer accepting these. I have emailed Restaurants.com to attempt to change this to another retaurant - NO RESPONSE. I have waited on hold with their customer "service" number - gave up. And they STILL continue to offer gift certificates to this restaurant. As far as I am concerned, Restaurants.com is SCAM.

At this point, I might review this sight at "0" if I could. I have enjoyed some meals for a deal, but when I have had a problem, they are impossible to reach. I have literally spent an hour on hold as I needed to get my money back for spending $40 on a deceptive add for Hilton Hotel coupon that was supposed to be worth $500. When I purchased it, it would only give me a slight discount on a full rate room per visit. So this was a sad purchase that I am unable to use. I am still trying to get my money back but can't reach them online or by phone!
Tip for consumers:
READ THE FINE PRINT!!
Took 'advantage' of one the offers for a discounted broadway show. It was a $130 deal for $55. When I got the ticket it had a face value of $39. If I have paid the $55 directly for the ticket I would on been in the center about 10 rows back. Instead we got the last 2 seats of row 13, so far to the side we missed half the show.
It's a rip off.
