So you see all these bad reviews of Restaurant.com. I took advantage of a great deal. 100 - $50 cards for $500 from Citi Easy Deals. That $4500 of free food Just avoid these assumptions: 1) It's not off any restaurant. Get a Visa Gift Card if you want that. Enjoy your fees. 2) It's not a free meal. It's up to half off the total bill. You can use the remainder elsewhere. 3) It's one use per restaurant per month. Not getting 1/2 price sushi every weekend. Goto a different restaurant tomorrow. 4) You have to log into the app to find the card to redeem. Yes it shows your name. Got to log in anyway. That bugs me! Lose one Star. 5) Let the server tap the screen to redeem. You will hit one of these the first time through. After that it's discount city. Got my food budget in line through some hard times.
The entire experience was a scam in conjunction with a travel service. Was promised $100 in Restaurant coupons for attending sales presentation. Spent hours on the phone, with email, and online trying to obtain four $25 restaurant certificates. Never received any certificates and gave up.
Same thing happen here supposed to have a $25 gift card which is actually valued at $10 per gift card just not pizza the food was garbage and overrated will never eat there again and I unsubscribe to the restaurant.com website
restaurant.com is horrible. They treat the businesses that they sell the "gift certificates" to like crap. They do't honor their end of the bargain, so all of the restaurants in our area are now refusing to accept the "gift certificates". Since we're unable to use them and have no where left to "exchange" them, we want to have our money refunded from restaurants.com. But of course, it's nearly impossible to contact them and get any response in return.
STAY AWAY from restaurant.com! There are better ways to find deals for eating out!
I don't even know what happened to them, it used to be a good way to save money but as a year and a half or so everything went down hill when I tried to use one of the certificates and the restaurant told me that they never authorized those certificates, I called Rest.com (when they used to answer the phone) they apologized and told me they will put it as a credit or gift card on my account... Long story short, now I have 7 certificate credits or gift cards, $25 worth each, that I can't use, when I go to exchange then it tells me that the same certificate number is linked to another account, I called them... Over 40 minutes waiting after they first responded and left me waiting for customer service, no response, sent them multiple emails, no response either. What it was a good company now they are a scam, don't give them your money!
I think that Restaurant.com has very good deals. Of course, one should be discriminating and find restaurants that would suit their tastes. In my area, there are maybe 4 of many restaurants where I would wish to dine. That said, I have purchased several for my favorites.
When I travel, I always look at what Restaurant. Com is offering in my new location.
Through my game stop rewards I was able to receive a $25 online gift certificate for Santorini Greek Grill & Lounge. I decided to redeem the certificate and unfortunately we were informed that it was fake. We also asked two other restaurants (Pizza N Pizza, and Pak Restaurant) next door about their participation and they told us their gift certificate were fake as well. Restaurants.com should reimburse the restaurants that were not participating and go through and fix their list of restaurants that never agreed to partner with them.
I have been using it for years. Sometimes I have had problems, but Restaurant.com is has always given me another certificate when one has been refused.
Most of the time everything works out great. For example, spend $35, get $25 off plus pay a gratuity on the $35. Great deal.
Just make sure you read the conditions for each certificate before you purchase it.
I keep a folder of them in my car and use them all the time.
They sold me a package by fast talk. I tried the next day (before my card was charged) and no one would answer the phone. One week later I chose the option for person who wanted a promotion and that call was answered immediately. This is no accident they refused to remove the charge. I am going to try and get the chamber of commerce where their office is to file a complaint. I hope this site will let me register a zero.
I have been using Restaurant.com coupons for years. After reading a number of the reviews, most the the complainers must be illiterate. Come on folks, like any other coupon, you must read the terms. And if you did run into a restaurant that would not honor your coupon, I guess you should have showed the coupon before you ordered. I have found that some restaurants exceed the value of the coupon by including drinks and not adding the 18 percent tip.
I have only had one coupon that didn't work and Restaurant.com warned me in advance and offer to replace that coupon. So if you get taken advantage of by some crappy greasy spoon, don't go back, tell all your friends and post a review on YELP.com. You will feel much better and it only cost you $2 or $3. It will cost them a bundle in lost customers. Is it really fair to blame Restaurant.com?
It's a scam. The process works but you don't save any money. You must pay full price and the minimum purchase is double the coupon value. I ended up paying the same amount as I would have if I didn't use the coupon. The web site is complicated and not easy to redeem "certificates" to buy "vouchers" to print out, or display on your phone.
Tip for consumers:
Don't waste your time.
This website posted coupons for our restaurant without telling us - then when I called to them to take us down they acted like it was routine - they would just email the people who bought them to exchange them. Also, they have a standard sales pitch - no the restaurant doesn't get any money but they get great advertising - give me a break there is a reason they have class action lawsuits against them.
This is the biggest false advertisement lie and I'm so pissed they fooled me. This is not a gift card at all, its basically a coupon that will get you $5 - $15 off a purchase. Each restaurant requires you to purchase a minimum. So for example I could get $15 of if I spend $75 are more at this particular restaurant. They advertise it as if your getting a gift card for $75 at the discounted price of $15. So don't be fooled liked myself and purchase a coupon. I've honestly never heard of that concept. And to make thing worse most restaurant they have listed don't except the coupons and have no clue how they are even being sold. I'm going to dispute it with my bank and see if I can possibly get this refunded.
Restaurant.com should be put out of business. It's nearly impossible to redeem their certificates. I have 2 useless $25 certificates because both restaurants closed down due to the pandemic. I also have a $50 gift card that I purchased and can't use because the listed restaurants no longer honor them. The certificates don't expire, but if a restaurant goes out of business or no longer accepts the voucher, then you are out of luck... and money. The site is difficult to use and their customer service is nonexistent. Save yourself the aggravation and don't buy from restaurant dot com!
Stay away from Restaurant.com. I had purchased $500 worth of gift codes. Restaurant.com invalidated all my gift codes and are showing "There is no credit remaining on the gift code you entered". Because I have had these saved for over two years they deemed that I didn't need them any more. This company will intentionally steal your money. Don't walk away, run away from Restaurant.com. Bottom line is that if you trust strangers with your credit card then go ahead and use this company, because they will steal from you.
Tip for consumers:
Dishonest company, they will void all you gift codes making then useless
Had coupons given to us for Christmas. When we went to redeem them the owner of the restaurant said she participated once and no more but restaurant.com kept giving out coupons. We should have asked first. We didn't owed $35.00
This is a complete sham. I bought the deal for 4 - 25 dollar certificates and every single restaurant on the list requires that you spend at least 50 to 75 dollars in order to use the 25 dollar certificate. No refunds so I just wasted my time and money. The list a restaurants are also extremely limited. I only found 2 that I would even consider. Sham!
My family and I recently visited Orange County Choppers cafe in Ny... the food was just ok... people that were seated at least 15 min before us were waiting at least for 10 min longer than we did for our food and we waited about half hr and only got burgers ( there were 4 of us) the food that was done waiting for pick up by the servers was sitting 15 min before being brought out to the tables and no heat lamps to keep it warm. The best thing was the dead bugs in the big round light right above our table. Nothing to brag about.
This is nothing that can be used. Like someone printing fake money, this is all fake marketing with a single person taking a huge amount of money. They need to be put out of business. Luckily I received two free cards, but they are worthless at every restaurant listed. It is truly just a scam. If someone offers you these, they are probably a scam as well. Steer clear.
This site has changed for the worse. Why on earth would anyone pay for a coupon of little value? The restaurants almost always required a $50 purchase, a. D you're paying $10-20 for the certificates. So you end up paying $35-40 for a $50 meal. Save your
Time and find a buy one, get one free coupon from your local ad flyers. They cost nothing, and they're worth more.
I had purchased 3 certificates from them in the amount of $25 each for a local restaurant. I was told by staff that they do not honor them. After several attempts to contact Restaurants.com I gave up, after not getting a response. The business is now closed and I am out the money. Stay away and save your money, it's not worth the headache.
This is legally not a scam but it is worthless. I purchased certificates to cash my expiring frequent flyer mileage. That was almost two years ago. I used only one of the certificates so far. Even though I had numerous certificates for the same restaurant they accepted only one per table even on a high bill. The number of the participating restaurants is very low and many of them discontinued the relationship with Restaurant.com. I received emails to change the affected certificates but I was unable to do so because I did not find any restaurant I liked close by.
Tip for consumers:
Do not use this!
It is almost impossible to reach out for help. NOBODY is responsible for this website. I found phone number for customer service on google and nobody picking up phone. They simply hanging up on you. Unbelievable. Do not buy any deals because it would be just throw your money way.
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT USE this site, totally worthless.
Products used:
I didn't use any products because I couldn't redeem my voucher from Groupon, and I couldn't reach out to ANYBODY to help me. AWFUL
This company is a rip off. There is no way to contact them if you have a problem. I am so thankful I just bought something for $10. Then fine out I have to spend $50 in order to use $25 dollar gift card. I will tell you one thing anyone I talk to I will be telling them about my dealings with this company. Hopefully people will check review before buying anything from them
Restaurant.com asked me to exchange a certificate for another restaurant since the original restaurant stopped using them. I can see why. In their convoluted exchange software they lost my original certificate after saying, "We are unable to exchange at this time. Try again later." When I went back to do the exchange, the certificate was no longer there. They keep asking me to "reply" to their letter and they will help- but they just send the same letter again. No phone number. QUITE A WASTE OF TIME.
I would give this site zero stars if possible. I find the site hard to negotiate and after nine years of them having my money I decided to try again to retrieve my money in credit towards a restaurant. So far I am into this for 1 hour and have gotten absolutely nowhere after 3 phone calls to them. A no refund policy is not being honest. I believe it is a SCAM and I want my money $175 worth refunded. I have been turned down 3 times. I am sorry I ran into this offer. It stinks!
I used to visit this site frequently and take advantage of the deals, but the new format is not at all user friendly, and doesn't really have much in the way of deals anymore. But the most annoying feature is the mandatory 30 second ad that I am forced to sit through each time I open a page to look into a specific restaurant. I understand that most websites make their money through paid advertisements, but this is just obnoxious. I found this to be so annoying and intrusive that I will never visit that site again.
