“Up to 50% off on a meal, once a month per restaurant. Read the rules.”

So you see all these bad reviews of Restaurant.com. I took advantage of a great deal. 100 - $50 cards for $500 from Citi Easy Deals. That $4500 of free food Just avoid these assumptions: 1) It's not off any restaurant. Get a Visa Gift Card if you want that. Enjoy your fees. 2) It's not a free meal. It's up to half off the total bill. You can use the remainder elsewhere. 3) It's one use per restaurant per month. Not getting 1/2 price sushi every weekend. Goto a different restaurant tomorrow. 4) You have to log into the app to find the card to redeem. Yes it shows your name. Got to log in anyway. That bugs me! Lose one Star. 5) Let the server tap the screen to redeem. You will hit one of these the first time through. After that it's discount city. Got my food budget in line through some hard times.

“A scam”

The entire experience was a scam in conjunction with a travel service. Was promised $100 in Restaurant coupons for attending sales presentation. Spent hours on the phone, with email, and online trying to obtain four $25 restaurant certificates. Never received any certificates and gave up.

I bought once from them and the restaurant wouldn't accept my cert. Even if they had done that, there are minimum spend requirements that don't make the $$ off equal out to anything other than a % off your meal. Add to that that there are tons of restrictions and zero customer service from restaurant.com itself and you've got a bad deal.

Stay away.

I have only attempted to use Restaurant.com "gift certificates" at four (4) different restaurants. Two of the restaurants do not used them anymore, and the other two each charge $10 to $20 fee to accept the gift certificates. I don't get the point of the service since, as a consumer, I paid for the gift certificates and they were pretty much worthless.

Got a card as a gift and I just wanted to search the site for a restaurant I want to go to tonight. They don't provide a search function for a specific restaurant name, just by location. Yes you can sort by A-Z but we live in Milwaukee so that results in having to page through pages of restaurants. I am sure it is designed this way to drive you toward the restaurants that are participating but super time consuming and annoying to their customers!

This is not a scam guys. Okay look, this is what you have to do to get an even BETTER deal. Go to ebay and look for $100 gift cards for restaurant.com and buy from someone you trust. I spent $3 on the $100 gift card (on ebay) and it worked. Then i choose whatever restaurant i wanted to eat at and if i bought a $25 certificate, with the minimum purchase having to be around $37, i would've only spent $12 on that $37 meal! But you really SHOULD get the gift card :) If you guys dont understand how it works, have never used it, or confused you should not leave a review..

I noticed Restaurants.com on one of my survey sites and decided to try them. Thinking that $50 meant $50 dollars I joined and immediately had problems with certificates. The 50% off was not noticed by me, since that message was in tiny print. They suckered me real good.

I have had an account with Restaurant.com for several years. Have bought certificates, exchanged. And used MANY. Had an issue that was resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. Don't believe the Nay-sayers.

I paid 30 dollars for a gift to my sister and her husband, thinking they were getting a great gift, they used the tickets, 12 dollars spent for each coupon, the price of the movie was 7.50 each ticket, total loss 10 dollars for me. Then they tried to use a restaurant coupon and was denied because the restaurant wanted them to spend 50 dollars first,, but the coupon stated 2 movie tickets and 100 dollar gift certificate for a meal. What a wonderful scam. I am going to forward this statement to the Teacher site that sent it to me, to make sure no more teachers get cheated or scammed like I did.
Thank you.

Bought a groupon for ultimate date night for 39.00.
For "2 movie tickets and a $100 restaurant.com egift card"... important word here is "a" 100 gift card... but you actually get 4/25.00 gift cards that you cannot use at the same time... AND the app is now telling me that i have none to redeem, and i actually have 100.00. The only thing that the customer service people say is "i am sorry for the inconvenience"... WHAT EVER!
This place is a joke...

I received a $25 gift card from work & "exchanged" it for 2 local gift cards. I changed my mind & wanted to use it for a different restaurant, but was unable to use my $25, only $10 or $15. Then, when I confirmed the exchange, I ended up having to pay out of pocket for the gift card. I contacted customer support & never heard back from them! Now, I am at a $25 loss and STILL have $25 credit I can't use!

I bought certificates to several local restaurants and then found out that they were all fraudulent--the restaurants had not entered into agreements with restaurant.com. When I waited to speak to a Restaurant.com customer service rep, I heard an ad awhich stated that if you signed up five restaurants to the service, you would get $500. So most likely, a scam artist turned in five new contracts to restaurant.com and the company, without verifying with the restaurants that the contracts were legitimate, went ahead and advertised them nonetheless. What a horrible business. Save yourself some time and bother and stay away from it.

Purchased several for gifts and some for my family only to find out some of the restaurants are closed, some of the restaurants won't take certificates, etc. Since these are really (roughly) 50% off coupons (in many cases), it is definitely not a typical gift certificate. It would be more accurately advertised as exchangeable coupons that you may never be able to use. Add to that the limited number of restaurants in many areas AND that you have to use your restaurant.com certificate to "purchase" certificates for the restaurant to MAYBE take (if they are still in business) and I would certainly NOT recommend restaurant.com.

I had several coupons that simply disappeared off my account.
I have been trying to reach them and got a generic message that they would be responding to my e-mail, but they never did. Do they even really exist?

Tip for consumers:
I finally heard back from someone and they told me to look under gift certificates. I found my coupons. Unfortunately they were for restaurants I never bought for and were the wrong amounts ($25 for a frankfurter stand? I don't think so, particularly since I don't eat franks.)
I will continue to sort it out with them. Stay tuned.

After being notified that one of the coupons that I purchased was no longer good, I was asked to select another restaurant a month ago. When we went to that restaurant, it had already gone out of business. All I can say is. Buyer beware!

I received a $25 coupon as part of a promotion run by a hotel chain. Unlike gift cards, to redeem a restaurant.com deal, you have to first register, then pick a restaurant (no chains or popular ones), then 'redeem the code', print a certficate... at this point, I just gave up and moved on. What a joke!

You go out to dinner with friends. Separate tickets. Both couples have a 25.00 restaurant.com coupon. You order an appetizer, expensive meal, drinks and dessert. Have an extra drink, to find out with the tickets come that only one coupon can be used because you are sitting at the same table. That is the most asinine excuse I have ever heard. I will NEVER get another restaurant.com coupon EVER. This is BS. I would rate restaurant.com lower than a "1" if I could. Be sure to read the fine print!

"I purchased coupons for a particular restaurant who refused them. When I informed Restaurant.com, they didn't stop selling them and refused to give me a refund because 'they didn't know'. I would call the establishment and make sure they honor the coupon and that they will continue to do so until you can use it."

One week after purchasing two certificates to a restaurant, the restaurant no longer accepted Restaurant.com certificates. I felt this was an inconvenience at most, so I followed R.com's instructions and went to exchange the certificate.

Their site is so poorly constructed that I was able to exchange the certificate without registering my account first -- so I'm not entirely sure where that "eGift" credit went. After I signed up (great, yet another site I have to register on), the credit still was not present.

I am inclined to believe this whole operation is a huge scam. I would NEVER purchase another certificate with Restaurant.com, and if I was given one, just throw it away; it's more than likely useless.

I received a gift card as reward at work!
I went to a restaurant for breakfast and there is a sign on their door that they fo not participate in restaurant.com. They requested to be removed 3 years ago and restaurant.com refuses!
So, I started calling restaurants and they all say the same thing! They requested to be removed and it never happened!
I contacted restaurant.com several times and was told they do a good job removing restaurants! That had to be a joke!
This is nothing nut a scam!

The value is great, but however they are dealing with their restaurant clients must be awful because our coupons have been refused as many times as accepted. Each time the coupon was refused, the restaurant owner/manager refused to explain what exactly caused them to dislike the company, but eagerly told us they had a very bad experience and wouldn't deal with them ever again or accept coupons out in circulation. It had to be bad because refusing the coupon reflects just as badly on the restaurant.

We got a $50 gift card for joining Bjs Wholesale, long story short, the app and website are both designed specifically to be impossible to operate... after several attempts to use the card unsuccessfully we threw 3 of them away.

I would rate them a 0 if possible. Beware your credit card is not safe. I kept getting an error, zip code can not be over 20 characters, then state could not be found. This alarmed me of a unreliable website. Be careful giving this company your credit card information.

O received a gift Certificate of $100.00, a while ago, but up to today no able to redeem because the offer on this site are too low. I just don't know what to do with this stupid Certificate. If I use $40.00 Certificate I have to spend, minimum $200 at restaurant. What is this? The deal is only good for the restaurant and to the site, For me nothing. I am extremely unhappy with this. So, if you want to give me a gift certificate. Please do no - DO NOT - go for Restaurant.com

Its true that this site has a BUNCH of terms and conditions to their restaurant coupons, however I've had more good experiences than bad with this site.

I usually wait for the $2,80% promo codes and buy coupons ONLY if they are $3 or $2 bucks.

I've gotten the chance to try exotic restaurants that I would have never tried and the prices turn out to be reasonable. Of course, you are not going to be able to just buy a coupon and go eat for free.

However I've had really good experiences such as me and 3 other friends came to a breakfast joint, we had 3 huge entrees, a few extra sides and 2 desserts for around $16 total. With tip it was 20-$25, but it was honestly like $40 worth of food,

Furthermore I love that the coupons never expire!

I received $25 certificate as a gift. Created my account and it showed $25 as available. Saved it to my account to use later. Logged in three days later - no balance. Money is gone. Tried to send a message to customer service - they do not want to hear from you. Stay away from this. It only works if you use it right this minute - hungry or not.

We bought coupons for one of our favorite restaurants. Went for dinner the other night and the restaurant's doors were closed. Called restaurants.con and they won't refund our money only give a credit. My problem is that I informed them the restaurant went out of business but they still continue to sell coupons for the closed restaurant. They should not be allowed to sell them - false advertising
