So you see all these bad reviews of Restaurant.com. I took advantage of a great deal. 100 - $50 cards for $500 from Citi Easy Deals. That $4500 of free food Just avoid these assumptions: 1) It's not off any restaurant. Get a Visa Gift Card if you want that. Enjoy your fees. 2) It's not a free meal. It's up to half off the total bill. You can use the remainder elsewhere. 3) It's one use per restaurant per month. Not getting 1/2 price sushi every weekend. Goto a different restaurant tomorrow. 4) You have to log into the app to find the card to redeem. Yes it shows your name. Got to log in anyway. That bugs me! Lose one Star. 5) Let the server tap the screen to redeem. You will hit one of these the first time through. After that it's discount city. Got my food budget in line through some hard times.
The entire experience was a scam in conjunction with a travel service. Was promised $100 in Restaurant coupons for attending sales presentation. Spent hours on the phone, with email, and online trying to obtain four $25 restaurant certificates. Never received any certificates and gave up.
Fool me once shame on me but never again. I bought the Restaurant.com gift certificates on the recommendation of a friend. As another reviewer pointed out, these are NOT gift certificates. They are discount coupons. My first disappointment/frustration came when I began looking for restaurants where I could use them. If all you eat at are fast food/low-end chicken or mexican food joints then you're all set. When I did find a place I liked that was part of the program, I discovered you don't just take your cute little plastic gift card in to be swiped at the time of the meal. You have to go to the site and then print out a coupon to take with you. That's fine if I'm at Red Robin but I was a bit uncomfortable slapping a coupon down on the table of an upscale eatery. And yes, the exclusions on these coupons are OUT OF CONTROL! I have used only one of the three $100 cards I purchased. I just don't have the energy to jump through the hoops that Restaurant.com requires. On the bright side, I only paid $16 for them so I'm not out a significant amount of cash.
In my opinion, great for families with young kids trying to save a few bucks and are willing to do what they have to for the savings. Not for couples or individuals looking to save on a high-end dinner.
Bravo Pizza in West Chester, PA have not accepted your certificates in years. Neither has Bona Cafe Express in Exton, PA, Brother's Pizza in West Chester, PA.
Saucey Pizza and Calios Pizza in West Chester, PA are permanently closed.
I have $90.00 of Restaurant.com certificates. Where can I use them.
Tired of wasting gas.

I was given a $25 gift card to this site. Even though we eat out a lot, I was unfamiliar with all but two of the 26 participating restaurants within a 15 mile radius of my zip code. Of those two, one was an Italian restaurant whose entrees started at close to the full value of the gift card. The other was a reasonably priced BBQ place, so we chose to print our gift certificate for it. Imagine my surprise when I discovered we could only redeem our $25 gift IF we SPENT $37.50 there! Call me crazy, but if you are FORCED to SPEND MONEY in order to use a GIFT CARD, then it's NOT A GIFT anymore!
This is a rip off. Ironically, I got a $50 card for joinging BJ's so I thought the fee was worth it. I also think BJ's is a rip off. I expected to be able to pick a restaurant and use the entire $50.00. No! The only local restaurants either limit you to using only one $10 certificate per visit per month or limit you to a $25.00 certificate but require you to spend $50.00 This is no deal and only makes you spend money you normally wouldn't have spent. Groupon is a much better deall Also, most of the restaurants listed were in Philadelphia -- so you either have to pay to park and go over the bridge or pay to ride the train. Grrrrrrrrr
Rewind by decades is NOT affiliated with restaurant.com
We have emailed and called to have our information removed and here we are a year later. The website is a scam
Bought 2 tickets to two different restaurants through my job. When i tried to use one of the certificates i was told by the owner that hey had cancelled their account more than a month before my visit and would not be accepting the coupon. I bought the certificate a day before my visit. When i requested a refund restaurant.com says they do not issue refunds. However THEY DO SELL CERTIFICATES THAT CANNOT BE USED. They basically stole my money.
That's where you might as well put the card/certificate, right in the garbage. Absolutely useless. Hopefully no one gives you on for a gift cause you will think those people hate you.
No one wants to offer their certificates because they screw their actual clients! Stay far away from them if they call. It will cost you thousands if you are a business owner!
I've used them for years. I'll skip the obvious stuff and give the bits that may not be obvious.
The fact that their coupons never expire is great. That means that you have to keep track of them and exchange them, but if you persevere, once you have a pool of coupons you can stop buying any and just move around your credits.
Always check that the restaurant will accept the coupon in advance. I can't tell you how many times I have found a neat restaurant, bought and printed a coupon, and headed there during its stated business hours to find a vacant building (the restaurant failed a year ago), or been told by a sneering host that "they don't take those things any more". I'm not a restaurant, but I've heard they pressure the restaurants pretty hard, and it is a better deal for the consumer than for the restaurant past the early days where the restaurant is new and needs to promote.
Their web site is terrible. In theory it is well-thought out, but is often too slow to use, or just buggy. If it works, great, it can do almost anything to help you organize your coupons or find restaurants. Open one window there, another with Yelp, and go research your area for bargains.
Watch the fine print. Holidays, no way. If it says you have to spend $50 to use a $25 coupon, does that include what you spent on your drinks? Probably not. Watch if it only for dinner, or doesn't apply for specials. Read the restrictions very carefully, And watch your bill, in some cases they add the tip in, and if you aren't careful you can tip twice.
But overall, if you are careful and methodical, it's great.
What a joke. It's been two weeks now trying to get customer service to just RESPOND to me about a voucher that should have $40+ on it, but shows a zero balance. A waste of money and time!
Do Not Waste Your Time With This, Better Of using Your Own Money Or Eating At Home. Most Of The Restaurants Do Not Take The Credits Anymore Or At All And Most Stores Are Shut Down or Want You To Spend $50 for A $25 Credit. PLEASE DONT THINK THIS IS A FREE MEAL. Your Going To Waste your time looking for places to buy food and the list is trash.
Overall, I've have had a great experience using restaurant.com. For more than 2 years.
However, We went to visit Paracho Restaurant in Riverside fir the first time because they were in Restaurant.com (and because they had indoor dining). Unfortunately, they didn't validate our certificate. Our server didn't even know about Restaurant.com (poor training). She said to wait for her supervisor. We had to wait about 10-15 min as she said her supervisor was in break (she was at a table by the bar) when she came she said she called the owner and he told her they were no longer with Restaurant.com. She told us he told her he had asked Restaurant.com to be removed. However, 5 days after they're still showing on their website. I asked her to ask him to validate our certificates for this time as we were first time customers. But she said she had already asked him. I guess they feel they can afford to loose new customers.
Food and service is good (3/5). Food price is fair but drinks are pricey. The restaurant needs to be more clean. There were dirty tables when we arrived.
I need a Refund and you should Add a REPORT RESTAURANT option.
They scammed me too. I thought this would be a gift certificate and after I purchased it I found out that it is coupons off of meals, and you can only use one coupon per visit.
All my experiences with this website have been a hassle albeit I did find ONE amazing restaurant that I frequent (Aladdin in North Palm Beach). 1 restaurant was closed down, one outright refused my gift certificate (even though all the terms were met), another restaurant it Took 4 times of going to redeem my voucher and the last meal was awful, I recently almost bought a gift certificate then found out the restaurant is CLOSED but still listed on restaurant.com's website (as is another CLOSED restaurant). Then I tried to exchange a voucher that was refused; only to have the captcha refused SEVEN times. Now surely I can make one or two mistakes but not seven. Saving a few bucks via this website is NOT WORTH THE HASSLE... I PROMISE YOU!
I went to local resturant in an attempt to get the so called deal that the certificate was valued at. I asked the waitress if I could indeed, use the coupon.
I was informed that the resturant did not accept the coupon because they had in the past accepted them, but were not reimbursed from resturants.com and had lost alot of money.
I would say that there is some kind issue somewhere in this so called discounted certificate service.
The light in this dark sceme is that I did not lose alot of money.
I purchased ALOT as gifts for XMAS, BDAYS, and NOT one was used because of the Restaurants conditions or were closed under new owners. Etc Contacted them and over 6 years now, and NO REPLY! Poor excuses and credits I yet have to see. Don't buy unless you to some background on the places and ask mgr. IF HONORED? Good Luck! I should& will report it to the B. B. B-(when I get time)
This company is a complete SCAM! I purchased a gift card. I tried to use it on the website and I wasn't able to. I called for a refund and they said it was nonrefundable. There was nothing to indicate the gift cards are nonrefundable. They claim I agreed to the terms when I purchased the card, but you are given terms on the uses of their gift cards and certificates after you have purchased them. I intend to pursue other avenues to get my money back. The crazy part is that my purchase was only $15. THEY WON'T REFUND A $15 PURCHASE! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!
I called and order 12 $50 gift cards for a party. I planned to give these away as gifts. I ordered these cards on a Monday afternoon. I asked if they can ship it to me overnight and I will gladly pay for the shipping. They said NO. They said they only ship out UPS second or third day. Figuring that I would get still get these by Friday, I said that is fine. After my order was processed, I asked for a UPS tracking number. The rep said she does not have it and will gladly email it to me by the end of the day. No email. The next day I called and asked for a tracking number, again none was provided. Nothing arrived by UPS as of late Friday afternoon. The cards are now useless to me since tonight is the event. I called restaurant.com once again but TWICE the automated machine hung up on me. On my third try I spoke to someone about my issue and then was left on hold for over twenty minutes. I give up! I will never ever use this company again! I have been in retail shipping for many many years! There is always a tracking number when a package is shipped. The fact that they cannot provide the tracking number to me is quite odd. I will be contacting my credit card company to have the charges reversed and will be reporting this company as FRAUD.
My job has this site on our discount perks site, I order over $150 in vouchers to get looked at like a scam artist when I try to redeem them at the movies. I told to use it on Fandango.com as a credit card, still don't work. The vouchers for FitGenix.com don't work on some item but others, I had to use one at a time and was charged shipping each time. When I got the fit watches and thermos vest, they need to charge up but didn't come with any charges, but I have a USB wall outlet and they still don't work after sitting on it over night, I JUST WANT MY MONEY BACK
Tip for consumers:
dont buy anything

My restaurant has been trying to end our 'contract' with Restaurant.com for 6 months. Initially it was only supposed to be a 6 month contract which would have ended in September... we have been fighting with them since November and now they are telling us that we have to do an 'exit interview' to end the contract. Although demeaning and embarrassing we complied only to find out that a week later we are STILL on the website, by which they have told us that it takes 5-10 business days to be removed. So we have been left with no further alternative than to post that we are NO LONGER ACCEPTING restaurant.com certificates. We are honoring the $5 people paid for the certificates, and just eating the cost ourselves because there is NO WAY restaurant.com is going to refund the poor customers. They have threatened legal action against us and have left us no other choice. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE WEBSITE!
No integrity! I spent $25 purchasing discount coupons for places that we frequent. They were the only places on the site that we were interested in. Imagine our surprise and dismay when we went to use them and none of the restaurants were participating! The one had big signs all over their doors stating they would not honor ANY restaurant.com issued coupons. I contacted restaurant.com asking for a refund. They wanted proof that the restaurants would not accept them, so I sent pictures of the signage on the doors as proof. After seeing the proof, they then said they would not give me my money back, but that I had to choose other restaurants with my "credit". If I had wanted other restaurants, I would have purchased coupons for them in the first place! The only ones we would use were the ones we purchased. When I explained that fact, they basically said to take a hike. I will NEVER buy from them again. A company that does not stand behind their business is not one that I want to do business with. AVOID!
Whoever operates this website should be in jail. I own a restaurant and we started seeing people bringing 25$ GC for my place when we never ever agreed to that and had never even heard of restaurant.com. People pay $10 to THEM and I should give away 25$? They make money on businesses back without their approval. Who are they to decide to give away my hard earned money for their profit? When I called them to inquire about this, they pretended to have a verbal agreement with my business partner (I don't have a business partner and am the only one dealing with anything regarding the operation of the restaurant), I asked them for a recording of the so called agreement and they hung up on me. DO NOT BUY THEIR GIFT CERTIFICATES UNLESS YOU CHECKED WITH THE RESTAURANT BEFORE THAT THEY DO ACCEPT THEM.
This has to be a joke... Perhaps a project by college students? My advice RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN... i TRIED TO REDEEN A $50 CERT... ONLY ONE RESTAURANT ON THE LIST... AND THAT WAS A DIFFERENT TIME ZONE... SPREAD THE WORD
I work at a resteraunt listed on their website but we are not affiliated with them in any way. People come in with certificates that we can not honor because they have no actual value.
My husband and I have been restaurant.com members for many many years, and yes we have benefiited from a lot of the places that we have gone to. It seems that lately though, restaurant.com is going down the tubes, as in the past 2 weeks we have tried 3 restaurants, and after you are seated and already have a drink, then they tell you we are no longer honoring these certificates, as we are in a lawsuit with this company! First time we heard it, we ignored it, but then heard the exact same story from the second restaurant, and they weren't even near each other! My only thought is DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM AT ALL! Thanks
