I've used rock auto alot for my business... in 3 years it's been great. Orders are correct and on time
They ship through piece of $#*! FedEx. It takes 4days to go 100 miles. Then you can't get ahold of rock Auto. To get refunded.
I purchased (4) Shock Absorber's and they arrived quickly. I installed the first 3 without any issue. Due to the Corrosion in the North East, I was forced to "CUT" the shocks off of my truck in the Front to facilitate the replacement. When I opened the Box for the 4th Shock, I noticed that "MONROE" mis-boxed the shock and I received a ******* instear of a ******* and they are completely incompatible for the application (Front vs Rear) (again, this was NOT ROCKAUTO's fault).
I went to call them and discovered that you had to do the return on-line without any Customer Service. The Descriptions said they would ship it out as soon as it entered the FEDEX System. I quickly boxed it up, labeled it and watched it put into the hands of a FEDEX EMPLOYEE. I then called their phone number and was treated with such disrespect, ZERO CARE for Customer Service and told that he was going to "TERMINATE THIS CALL".
I told him that I was forced to "CUT THE SHOCK OFF" and I can not safely drive the vehicle without a Shock and then I asked him how can I get the CORRECT SHOCK mailed out today as I have done everything asked of me and he again told me he was going to TERMINATE THE CALL...
LESSON LEARNED = If you get the Correct Parts (as I have numerous times before) it works well and you can save a lot of money. If you get the Wrong Part, you are at the Mercy of a Computer and you can hope and pray they send out the right part the 2nd time around.
The good. Have used rockauto several times. I have always received the parts on time or earlier and they were as expected, dirt cheap compared to locals and were the right part. Their site is easy to use and parts are very well described and many options are available.
The bad. This last shipment was a horror. Not all rockauto's fault. I order a water pump, a fan clutch, a ckt position sensor (verry cheap), and radiator hoses U/L. The fan clutch was in right box but part was wrong (stamp on part different) not RA's fault. The CKT was right and very well priced. The waterr pump heater tube was against the alternator hard and was not acceptable as it would work loose and leak. The lower heater hose had a bend that was too shallow and rested against the a/c condenser which would rub a hole in it. To their credit this hose was the same at all three major auto part stores with the exception of NAPA who had the right hose at twice the price. And RA gave me credit without returning the hose. Great. The water pump and clutch were returned with them giving me a "paid" shipping label which I consider a big plus to their credit. I will have to wait and see if I get credit for the returned parts but I am optimistic so far that it will happen.
The Ugly. Well, I paid extraditing shipping to get my ride back on the road and of course this shot that to hell I had to buy local parts to get it going which of course cost more though not that much more if you consider all of these problems. I would still definitely use RockAuto because despite these issues they made good up til now. The biggest black eye is they have absolutely no number to call or live chat to communicate with to get the ball rolling which is why I went local for the parts. Their only number is a corporate number which is a joke.
No one to comunicate with?
Orders are messed up, can't chaeprge any of the cards, insane! Tried to pay with 6 different cards, no luck.
This was absolutely the worse online purchase I've ever made. The reason for this is not just that the 2 parts I ordered for my tundra were the wrong parts but that the return process was horrible and became. Nightmare in itself and a very expensive one.
To keep it simple I ordered a plastic bumper for a 2020 tundra along with a grill. When I entered my truck year, model, and trim it brought up the 2 parts and said guaranteed to fit. After receiving the parts when I went to install I realised very quickly they were the wrong parts as the grill was not fabricated to hold my T toyota acrylic badge on the front or the impact sensor that was to be housed behind it. The bumper cover which is basically the plastic part of the bumper on a newer tundra fit only in the clips if it was contorted and twisted and it was missing the vent grates on top leaving a big open view of the aluminum radiator. It was pure garbage that I paid exactly $454 dollars for including shipping which was $55 dollars of the out the door price. When I put in for a return on their ridiculous website they reluctantly approved my return and I figured out how to print the pre paid fedex labels off with instructions to drop the 2 boxes off at my local fedex office. The instructions also read that the price of shipping would come out of my refund which showed a refund of $384 so ok ill be out 70 dollars for their screw up but oh well. I sent the packages off at fedex and washed my hands of them and that entire situation I thought but this is where it gets really bad.
3 weeks later I received a bill from fedex for $1182 dollars. I thought it was some scam or a mistake but I called fedex directly to make sure and guess what? It was from my rockauto return! I emailed rockauto customer support and after a week received a response. They first Apologized and told me it was a mistake and not to worry about it. Then they emailed me days later and told me I failed to follow instructions on their return procedure. Wrong! I followed it to the letter and had already received a partial refund minus shipping charges. That combined with the garbage product they sent me id say this company has a profession of sending junk to people then screwing them on shipping costs to send it back to them with fedex. Shameful! Zero quality control or customer service. Its not wonder they don't have any numbers to call them and in reading many other reviews ots obvious they are trash. In one of the emails they explained to me they don't make returns feasible for customers so they can keep their prices low. Isn't that nice! So instead of charging appropriately they make themselves appear as if they hook up a good deal when all they really do is trick people into buying junk product and making it hard to return. Scumbags!

BUYER BEWARE site.
Have some advise/opinion for those that do your own repairs on vehicles or for those that might ever be in the need for auto/car parts. I do allot of my buys online and sometimes will have an occasional problem with a part. Damaged or incorrect happens. I have several times purchased parts from Rockauto and never had any problems and everything went smoothly. I recently purchased a $605 part from Rockauto and I made an error/mistake when I ordered the part. When I got the part several weeks later I immediately found out I had ordered a part for a different model of vehicle similar to mine. Now the only customer service available is through their web site and it's extremely limited and good luck finding a similar situation to what you might be experiencing. So I hoped for the best and requested a return authorization. Printed document that was sent to me and shipped the part back. A week later i received the same box delivered to my house. The return was rejected because the box had become damaged in 4,000 miles of shipping. Now the quality of box was questionable to begin with and it didn't fare well after the first 2,000 miles. Absolutely no way to call and speak to customer service and I've received no response from my email to customer service. So they make returning anything next to impossible and heaven help you if the box get damaged in shipping an item two times. So I'm out $509 for a part that doesn't fit and won't work on my vehicle! Stay away from Rockauto and do business with a company that has customer service to deal with any issues you might have.
