Jerked around for weeks just trying to recertify. Hung up on several times INTENTIONALLY. Never called back. Given countless different contradictory "solutions" by every different agent (whom you can't even understand) I spoke with. REFUSE to let you speak to a supervisor. Come to find out you are not permitted to, so the inmates are running the asylum and have absolutely 0 accountability. It's a $#*!ing joke and one of the worst experiences of my life. Just to $#*! with me. One of the agents asked to verify the address I created the application with 10 years ago. Are you $#*!ing kidding me?! Never been asked that in the ******* times I've called. It's a disaster and these people are clowns.
My elderly deaf mother had to get a new 4G phone they sent it and it does not work at all. We have contacted them for 2 weeks and spent numerous hours doing the same things over and over and have been disconnected at least 7 times. Whenever we called back had to repeat all the steps again and again. The phone is defective and they just absolutely do not want to help you through to the end they just disconnect EVERY single time. What a waste of government assistance. I will pay a phone company for my deaf mother so she can text. Beware of safelink! They wanted a credit card number for no reason. SMH
I have been going through this for 3 or 4 weeks now. My phone has no data connection. They make you call in, they make you verify and go through a tech person that goes through the same steps over and over. Then they claim they'll transfer you to the next level. I tell them that if you transfer me to the next level it's going to disconnect. They claim it won't. They transfer me to the next level and disconnects. I've talked to 18 different tech operators at their company. I'm going round and round in circles. I have no data connection. I paid for this phone. They made us all pay for phones claiming they were doing a network upgrade. The phone doesn't work. Why do I have to keep a product that I paid for that doesn't work? Where am I to go from here; what do I do to get my phone to work that I paid for from them?
I have had several problems communicating with representatives until I got Chanel #*******. She took care of all the problems professionally and quickly. She is an awesome employee for Safelink.

This company really makes it hard to get approved. I would recommend if you desperately need a free cell phone... just focus on the object at hand.
After having absolutely FREE service with safelink for years...and never having had to "recertify" one time...I was told that I had to do my annual recertification.I gathered all of the required documents they asked for and sent them in in a timely manner.I then received notification via mail that my service was to be disconnected due to my not sending in the required documents.I called and argued with them for almost an hour,both safelink and lifeline.In the end I was basically told "tough $#*!",that I couldn't prove that I sent the paperwork in and they were going to disconnect me anyway.If I wanted my service back I need to REapply.In addition they had disconnected my Internet service twice leaving me only able to make calls.
Total bottom dwelling scumbags.And all you can get on the ph.fir customer service is some halfwit sitting in a grass hut in Bombay.
I called customer service to find out why my phone isn't making calls or receiving calls. I was on hold the first time for 45 minutes hung up called back and was on a calling list for them to call me. It took a half hour for them to call me back in which we got disconnected. I called them back was on hold for another 20 minutes finally I hung up wasted about 2 2 1/2 hours waiting to talk to someone from customer service and I still haven't talked to anybody. Very very disappointed in my service today..
Worst customer service. Requested phone replacement that was free because my screen was fully broken. Never received. Called several times for over a month. Still No solution & no phone.
Customer service told me I do not have to return old device & I could throw it away.
Now they are stating they have to receive broken phone back or I have to buy another one.
You can request a supervisor or someone higher up but they will not get you to a Person. They will either hang up or continue to tell you they have been trained to handle this situation.
Service totally SUCKS keeps shutting us off monthly and asking to recertification. Customer service is totally incompetent besides all of them barely speak English and when they get frustrated or don't know the answer they hang up on you. I guess you get what you pay for from a totally free state provided service. They get the lowest bidder like everything else and the quality suffers.
This is the worst phone service ever. When you call they transfer you to a chain of people who never help you with your reason for call. They have this thick indian accent and tell you their "tools" don't work so they have to transfer you. They also have very long wait, times on the phone-between 1 and 2 hours. Just useless people and service.
Called 5 weeks ago never received phone call back they clain they never complained order when I had a email that said it was completed. Called back they refused to give me managers number. Its not worth our time don't do it
Horrible service! Spent 4 hours on the phone trying to activate it. They kept transferring me from one department to another with holding on the line for more than 30 minutes! And they did nothing! I even can't cancel my service, because I should stay on the line for another 30 minutes to do it, and I'm not sure if they can handle it..
I transferred my number from a different company to come here and transferred my number I got the free life line service with the free phone. Kept having trouble with it no service. They kept giving me the run around. Tried to transfer my number to another company and they will not let it go. Saying they have to text me a transfer number but my phone can't get texts call out or income calls now they say it's my problem they can't do anything about. And I keep getting transferred all over the place. With the run around. And will not get a supervisor. Very bad customer service. They don't know what they are doing.
I never had service even mobile network was down all the time I had to run off my Wi-Fi to make calls it was the absolute worst experience in my life I recommend somebody shut them down! They have no business owning a business or it just needs to disappear.

After reading some reviews Now I'm wondering Where my phone went because I don't have it. I was supposed to get a phone a few months ago I still don't have it. I call a message and nothing happened it's like nobody cares. They keep saying thank you for your patience and I keep telling them I'm running out of patience it's been several months I don't have a phone. No help, different info, rude cs agents. Hung up on. Silence during call. Volume dim then nothing. The worst possible example of customer service. They will hang up on you if you express any concern or show any emotion due to the fact you ve been trying to fix your issue for days on end, THey just dont care. They make me want to cry trying to get my phone activated. Intense inccompetenence. The worst. I hate them forever. $#*! calls in India! AMerican cs agents would have fixed my issue the first time. SafeLink sent me phone that doesnt work! Can't make calls or texts' Customer service hangs up on you Everytime you call! I hooked up to my internet and use this phone for playing games etc. Don't waste your time!

Answer: If I remember right I had my phone for 3 months when I got a letter in the mail saying I qualified for my phone unlocked. I think I had to go through my account on line to unlock it. Check there and see if you see anything pertaining to that. If not maybe call troubleshooting and ask them. Word of WARNING if you are getting a free phone like I was they shut you off anytime and claim you don't qualify. Not sure maybe they get more government money for every phone they send out. I was shut off and reapplied and had a new phone and new number not even a month and was shut off again. No rhyme or reason and claimed they couldn't find my account. Good Luck
Answer: Honestly? Because they don't know what they are doing. I've been on the phone with them for 22 1/2 hrs and I have to call back tomorrow and try again because it's late and I tired. And I spoke to supervisors. Pathetic.
