No, it's not an 'adult' dating site... http://www.screwfix.com/ takes you to one of the best UK hardware stores. Good prices and if you spend more than £50, they deliver next day for free. Their slogan is "Where the Trade Buys" and that's pretty accurate. Have used them several times in the last year – very efficient. They have branches throughout the UK if you want to go and pick up your own stuff, and once you are on their books they will send you regular phone book sized catalogues.
You buy the goods online, pay for them online and arrange for collection. Then when a staff member goes to collect the goods with a copy of the order and collection text you have to make another journey to pay with chip and pin. Their competitors don't make the ordering process so laborious. Might be okay for domestic customers or one man bands but not for a company who has staff working all over the area. Won't be using these lot again for any of our contract works.

I always find them more expensive than alternative suppliers. I would have to be lazy to buy at Screwfix. They carry obscure brands and don't provide much information on the item. Collecting at the counter is very useful. Shop staff always try to ask for your name/address even when paying cash?!

Tip for consumers:
DO NOT BUY AND PAY ONLINE. If you want to buy anything from them for collection only use a local store, otherwise if your staff go in to collect goods you paid for online; you will have to physically attend to pay for them again with chip and pin. Very inconvenient.

I just love the click and collect feature and they now offer PayPal. Just order your item, choose collect in store and within 5 minutes of paying you will get an SMS or email confirming the order is ready for collection. You take the payment card for PIN confirmation or ID if you use PayPal. No excess trawling through a catalogue or queuing to place an order. Turn up and collect it without fear of it not being in stock.
Order two led garden spot lights. Web site showed Maldon had stock of 1 and Witham had the other. I order both and collection was easy and stress free. 10 out of 10 Team Maldon for also calling Witham to confirm stock ready to collect.

I felt I was an inconvenience to the staff when I was finally served. Then charged twice on my card after I was advised the first payment did not go through. When showed my online statement on my banking app was told that one of the payments probably' wouldn't go through which consequently did the next day - sales staff advised there was nothing she could do and that I would have call back to the branch with a bank statement! Called customer service and advised to send an email with screenshot of transactions. Now have to wait for a refund through no fault of my own. Very disappointing service, will not be using Screwfix in the future as clearly they do not value their customer these days - made me feel like a fraud!
I struggled all day to disentangled the mesh, then I tried my local branch of screwfix, the young male assistant went to a great deal of trouble to find the tool to do the job a great success and thank you screwfix
Placed an order:
Website says: We've sent a delivery confirmation.
After not recieving it for quite some time called their customer service.
After talking to their customer service- turns out they didn't send it (despite saying they did) and blocked the order without telling me due to that the billing address and delivery address not the same. Then they hung up.
(I really do wonder what would have happened if I trusted the website and not called them.)
Called them again_ they said that actually they can deliver it to a different address but will need to transfer me to different person... Who promptly informed me that the reason that "they" called "me" (nope) was that they couldn't do that and the order blocked, and that they hadn't taken the money out of my account (they had).
That they would not release the order unless that I changed the address.
Long time later they said that I *might* receive an order confirmation in a week time.
(The order was to be delivered in 2days)
Lot of time wasted. Use any other service if you need a product delivered to you. It just isn't worth the time.
They were misleading or lying half the time and incapable of communication.

Use anyone else
Regular customer who loves looking through the catalogue. Delivery is always fast and quality always 2nd to none
Super service, easy web site, very friendly staff, click and collect is brilliant with the items you've ordered held for you over a considerable time
Use this firm a lot for tools and matirals.If i have a problem its sorted out straight away, this is why i keep useing them. Would recomend them
I couldn't imagine trying to do DIY without Screwfix they really have some incredible prices on both tools and supplies such as screws
