Hope all is well with my new contract and looking forward to the peace of mind that comes with this contract...
Their customer service is terrible. I've been tryint to get reimbursed for an unauthorized charge for days, with no luck!
Save your hard earned money. Select Home Warranty (SHW) puts a lot of effort into advertising their repair and/or replacement of your home appliances and equipment. I was very skeptical at first and after participating for the first year have come to realize that it is a SCAM. I had roof leak coverage as part of my premium package. Shortly after moving into our house we realize a roof leak and submitted a claim. SHW declined the claim. Then had issues with our HVAC system at the start of the summer with temperatures hovering around 90 degrees. We waited a couple of days without any air conditioning waiting for their recommended technician to contact us which never happened. Then they told us to contact anyone for the repairs. Another couple of days for a different company to come out but they finally arrived, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Submitted the invoice and they said they could not process the claim because they require you to just get an assessment and send it in to SHW so that their team can review the contractors diagnosis and cost of repairs while two to three weeks go by with us having no air conditioning. Then had an issue with our 2015 Samsung refrigerator that cost over $3,000 new. Had their technician come out and the estimate for repairs exceeded $1,000. They figured after their depreciation of my refrigerator that it was only worth $225 that I could use towards the repairs or to buy a new one. Check their repair small print. They only cover repair parts not labor. Even though they claim repair or replace, their accelerated depreciation would never allow them to replace an item let alone repair. Save your money. SHW is a scam.
The rep was really helpful, knowledgeable and convincing. A little pushy but I wanted to buy a policy so it wasn't annoying at all. He was great.
Hello! I had been doing my due diligence for months. I was educating myself on the home warranty business, looking at different companies, going in and out of websites, and reading countless reviews. I even picked up the phone and called some of the companies customer service lines just to see how I would be handled. Needless to say, there's a lot of companies out there that really need to work on their customer service and make themselves more accessible. There's nothing more frustrating for a customer than to call in and get an automated attendant and not be able to speak to a live body. That really makes you feel like you are just a number and that your customer experience is just not that important to them. I landed on Select Home Warranty because I felt they were the best choice after doing all of my research. Following the call to place my order, I was extremely pleased with my experience and it met or exceeded all my expectations. The salesman was very courteous and knowledgeable and he helped me through the entire process and after hanging up, I was thrilled to know that I was in good hands and that I had made the right choice. Also, he handled all of my questions regarding the "fine print" and some questions or concerns that I had regarding exclusions. I really feel that Select has the best overall value for protecting your home. Including price, network of contractors, expedition of claims, and excellent customer service. It is very reassuring that you can get hold of a live person to handle any issues you may have and that you can also file a claim 24/7 online.
Two Big Thumbs Up!

Please. Do not trust this company. Pay the extra. Make sure claims dept is open 24/7.
They offer a lower rate, and bait you to join by allowing you to make payments. I now understand why they offer an extra month if you leave a review. They are not an honest and show no concern for their customers. Most of the reviews I read were from those as myself who had no experience with filing a claim with them.
During the coldest month yet with temp in the 20's and highs in the 50's our furnace went out. I called the same day on a Thursday and within several hours heard from an HVAC repairman. He came the next day as early as possible. He was here for several hours and put in the repairs needed around 4pm.
I called Select early Saturday morning and was told that since the order came in late and it was the weekend nobody in the claims dept could approve it until Monday.
I guess it's my mistake but when you read they have customer server 24/7 one would assume that would include approvals. NOPE!
Monday I submit documentation asked for.
Tuesday still no resolution. And was told it might not be until Wed by end of day. In their emails they state it may take 24 to 48 hours to hear back. But, end of day Wed is past that.
Also, they customer service people are always so apologetic and say they understand. If it was just an appliance broken I would have minded waiting a little. But, this is a furnace. I'm sure they are trained to be a polite as possible. But, through all my calls nothing was done. Each one kept saying it was going to be escalated and someone would get back with me soon.
Tuesday after being told it was being escalated I actually got an email from that dept with a different number to call. But, it was the loyalty dept and I was told there isn't a dept called escalations.
I cancelled my service. I was told I would receive a partial credit back. If not I'll be back to let you know. I have to wait 1 to 2 days for that email. And 4 to 6 weeks for the check.
I had Select Home Warranty since I first purchased my home in 2018, so I have had them for 5 years. The few times that I called them to come out to fix my items was not a good experience. The first contactor was crap and the next time I called for another service the contractor called to say he was going out of town for a few days and would call when he got back into town...well guess what he never called so I called him back several times and never got a call back. I called the office to complain a Select Home Warranty representative stated that they would get in contact with the contractor to see what happen and get back with me and that never happen either. I called to cancel Select Home Warranty and they charged me a $75.00 fee and I am not even under a contract. So BEWARE of this company. They are CRAP and I would NOT suggest them to anyone with good sense. I am MAD as HELL for getting charged and not even being under a contract. My rating would be ZERO if it would have let me pick Zero.
I tried to submit three claims in the last year, non of which worked out.
The first was for a leaky faucet and basket/drain on my kitchen sink. A plumber came out and looked at it, said he had what he needed to fix it on his truck, but couldn't do it because he had to wait for SHW to accept it. They did accept it for up to $500. The guy called me and said he would come fixit for an additional $485. What? Replace a cheap faucet and drain basket for almost $1000? Hey told me to have it done and send receipts for reimbursement. I replaced the cheap sink and fixtures w very nice ones for less than $500 but they never reimbursed me.
The next was for a fridge that wasn't cooling though the freezer worked. According to my research, it probably needed a new ventilation fan, relatively cheap. Their guy was an hour away so wouldn't come. People close to me wanted $75 to even look at it. That fee may or may not be reimbursable. I replaced the fridge with a nicer used one for $55.
Now my AC is out. The fellow that looked at it said that the compressor is bad and is no longer available so a new unit is needed. Of course, they won't cover it. They said that is an electrical problem so they won't cover it.
This warrenty company is USELESS!
This is company from hell.
I do not write many reviews but this one deserves my time.
My A/C unit went down and this is in the middle of summer in 100+ daytime temps in AZ. I immediately called "Select" to have someone come and repair it. The local repair company that they chose was not able to show up the next day but showed up the day after. ( Not the local repair company's fault)
The kind repair man noted that a part had to be replaced to make the A/C work and told me that for him to replace it I would have to get approval from "Select", then call him and schedule an appointment.
When I called "Select", they said that it would take 24-48 hours for their team to approve a $269 part.
I was naturally upset and explained that time was of the essence especially since the temps where I live were in the 100's. There seemed to be no sign of urgency or concern on their end and the rep said that they had to follow policy ( total indifference)
They finally approved it after I had talked to various reps multiple times that day and the repair man showed up promptly the next morning.
I was hoping for a resolution in the matter but the repair guy found another bad part. Once again I went through the same torture with "Select" they still have not approved the second part which by their admittance is fully covered under the warranty.
It is now 9 DAYS since I have been living with a dead A/C unit with no resolution in sight.
I finally got an email from them saying that they have mailed out the part that needs to be replaced and that once I get it, I would have to contact the service company to replace it.
If you would like to go through what I have gone through by all means go ahead and sign up with these losers.
Today I called to cancel my coverage and for a refund of the unused portion of my warranty. They naturally tried to talk me out of it and when I was clear that I wanted out, could not give me a straight answer on how much money would be refunded back.
It would take 24-48 hours for them to get back to me about the refund.
Why is is so hard for this company to be transparent and honest with their clients?
Take my advice and STEER CLEAR.
The sales people and customer service reps are very knowledgeable and friendly. If everything continues the same, it will be a great experience.
Called immediately after going online to inquire. Gave great discounts and very informative. I look forward to seeing how great the service is.
In my 43 years of living, I have never been this disgusted by a company. For the past four months, I have been in dispute with Select Home Warranty (SHW) about an appliance issue I won't bore readers with. Suffice it to say, I have quoted from the contract to support my argument, but still, nothing. I have sent lengthy emails stating my case and spoken to numerous customer service reps about the issue. Each time I call in (because good luck on getting SHW to contact you re. An issue in writing or via phone), it is obvious my emails haven't been read. The company has no regard for customers' time and no integrity to uphold its contractual obligations. Keep in mind, the salespeople are quick, efficient, and American; however, the customer service reps are all based off-shore and speak poor English. Their area of expertise is giving customers the polite run-around. SHW brags about its customer service being available 24/7, but the fact is the customer service reps have no authority to help the customer in any real way, and apparently, are not permitted to connect customers to anyone with authority. SHW is fond of quoting the lowest service call fee in the industry. That may be, but based on our experience, you will be getting low-bid service techs with dubious qualifications. Claims are extremely slow to process, require extensive documentation, and in the end, they will try to find a reason to deny the claim. If, by chance, you are successful in obtaining a small claim reimbursement, you will wait months for the check. If you read through the positive reviews, it seems they generally refer to the sales process and the contractual coverage. There are very few positive reviews from customers who have actually tried to file a claim – you'll need to look in the one-star ratings for those.
THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM HERE TO TELL YOU HOW BAD THESE PEOPLE ARE. DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THEY SAY. LIARS. THEY DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR COMPLAINTS EITHER.
Basically if you wait for them to keep trying to sell you a policy the price goes down and coverages go up.
Hopefully the claim process is good.
Scam company. Won't pay any claims. Replaced a water valve that didn't fix the issue now so I need to pay out of pocket to replace the washer.
Signing up was easy. The man I spoke with quoted me $65 per service call but contract says $75 so that needs clarification but so far so good.
Talked to David Walker he was very outstanding and helpful in getting me the program I was interested in Thank you he was excellent will refer anyone to your Home Warranty
I got the plan in 2018 and was told I will get a free month a week after I signed up I was sent a email for a review for another free month. In the past I asked them to remove my credit card so they don't bill me and when they send me an email about the bill we can talk about the free month that I should of had years before. So here we are 2021 and a call every month for 2 years and today was the end of that after talking to 2 managers the credit was applied to my acct but later in the day I get an email saying my account is canceled. Lol what a mess. I did 2 claims since I had the acct one which took 4 days for them to send someone out th fix the ac while in the summer of az. And the 2nd one which was a garbage disposal which they will not send anyone out to fix you have to do that on your own and they give you 75.00 credit which the garbage disposal is more than that it self. The 3rd one i kept getting emails the day the ppl was to come look at the issues saying the appt was canceled so I fixed it out of my own pocket. Bottom line this company caused more head ach than dealing with any issue I've actually had to call them for. I went to a different company
After I submitted my claim a representative called me immediately. I was really impressed and delighted
Select home warranty, the company is misleading, dishonest, collect your premium but fail to honor warranty
Answer: Scam. Do not trust. They lie and will NOT cover your items.
Answer: Based on Internet searches but quickly found out that they are a SCAM.
Answer: After filing 5 claims, and one tech that wanted to pad his pocket resulting in me fixing my own leak in a toilet at my expense after paying their tech. And another tech wanting to get my pool setup for summer at150. More than I already gave for deductible she didn't fix my pump or water line to my pool. Both denied by select home Warrenty. And 3 more that I paid their techs for then had to fix it myself. Now my freezers compressor is out and they took money out of my bank account without my permission after saying they would go ahead and fix the freezer well guess what they declined it. And said it wasn't covered when in the contract it says it is. List all meat and others because of 3 weeks if waiting for them
Answer: They are fast when signing you but so slow in responding and they are a total scam had to pay out of pocket for my leak repair that they should fix
Answer: Stay away from this company, get your money back ASAP. The longer you wait, the less money you get back.
