I've purchased tons, and tons of things from Goodwill. Jewelry is hard figure out before bidding since they do magnify pieces. Honestly, that's so we can see it better. I got some awful diamond stud earrings. They were listed as cloudy, and I could have lived with that, but they were actually black from so much carbon. Didn't even look like diamonds. Then, I got a projector that was tested as powering on... and it did, but it faded out within 15 minutes. It was burning up a lens as I was trying to figure out why it wouldn't project. That was a pretty expensive worthless purchase for me! But... 95 percent of the things I've gotten were great deals. I bought 6 pairs of diamond stud earrings, and only got burned on one pair. I buy 14k gold jewelry too, and I've gotten some deals on those pieces. Sometimes you get really lucky, and things slip by jewelry pros. I got a $300 rope chain for $87, and it came with a 14k ring with no setting. I second guessed myself on that purchase until it was delivered... then I screamed with delight. So, I love www.shopgoodwill.com! Yes, you better watch the shipping charges. Before I allow myself to fall in love with an item, I quickly look at shipping. Lots of times, I just move on after that!

Greedy
September 18, 2020

One word I have for goodwill auction, GREEDY.

They forgot where they came from and how it was founded, taking pepole unwanted item and sell it for a profit and to help disability and younger generation, now days they act like they run a high end business, charging 4time the shipping amounts, for extra extra the profit. GREEDY, cant wait for your business to slow down and shut down
You are disgusting...

Buyer beware! You will encounter all manner of shenanigans on shopgoodwill. They sell mostly broken junk as far as electronics go and a few cherry picked items to put at the top. Even if they claim it is tested and it arrives broken, doesn't arrive at all, or is a totally different item entirely they will NOT refund you under any circumstances. You are better off dumpster diving. Word on the street is that they have shill bidders for jewelry and collectibles and if you win it at a low price they have been known to cancel the sale and erase listing records. Customer service is poor to non-existant because they are "overloaded" with sales and somehow cannot manage to pay attention to anything once they have your money. I have dealt with many online auction houses and this one is by far the worst for misrepresentation of the item and condition as well as follow thru and draconian customer service statements so anyone thinking of using this site should really consider using other venues. Shipping is always slow even though the item has been posted for a week or more, allowing plenty of time to prepare it for shipping. Some locations charge waaaaay too much for shipping (Colorado locations) and sometimes ridiculous handling fees for the smallest of items.

Sniper software
December 26, 2016

Shopgoodwill. COM. Allows bidnapper... which is an automated bidding system that allows users to not have to check site at last minute. Many times I up the bid but the last 60 seconds someone always out bids me by 1.00 with no time to re bid. This sniper software is not a fair practice on bid sites. Ebay allows it too. Compturized theft. Buyers beware anything worth your bid you will not get in last 60 seconds because THE CHEATERS ARE USING A SNIPER SOFTWARE SYSTEM TO NAB THE GOOD STUFF!

I won an auction on shopgoodwill.com and when i tracked my order it said it was delivered only the FedEx proof of delivery picture was a picture of someone else's house. I get that fedex is the one that misdelivered it however I did my part as a customer as my address was entered correctly and I paid for my order With an outrageous amount of shipping on top of it. When I messaged customer service they said i need to open a claim with FedEx And thanks for shopping with them. They promptly close my claim after that unhelpful message. They didn't even offer to open the claim with FedEx themselves since technically they are the FedEx customer not me. I have to take the time out of my day to open a claim that will probably never be resolved and it is almost impossible to get a human on FedEx support unless you ship massively and have a representative like this company most likely does. They didn't offer to refund or send new items to compensate or any type of solution or assistance just closed the case. If you are prepared to spend your hard earned money with no protection then this is the place for you. As they will not refund you or assist you if anything happens to your item in transit even though you paid and did everything right on your end. You will be out of your money.

Bought a 14lb rock collection in 2016 with labeled specimen names. The auction went super low for once and I thought I got a great deal for some beautiful mineral specimens. When the order was delivered 3 weeks later I opened the box to find 14 lbs of white landscape rocks (The same rocks in front of their store). When I called they said the sent the wrong order to my house and "we are waiting to hear back from the person who received your order so we can switch them out" Funny thing is, they were NEVER selling a 14lb box of white rocks! Also, imagine my surprise when I found several of the EXACT photographs used on an ebay auction from the same city! (No reply from seller). The second was a for a gold nugget (aprox 4 grams) encased in acrylic for a desktop from another location. The auction only went to $12 and I was really surprised! When my package arrived I discovered I was the proud owner of a silver plated duck sugar bowl. Again I was told the exact same line "we are waiting to hear back from the person who received your order so we can switch them out". Weeks later I conducted an experiment where I called the store and inquired about a small stainless steel spoon with "Texas" written on it. I told the lady I was bidding on it and told her it was worth about $200 and was so happy that it was only at $3. The next day the price jumped up to $160.

The same goodwill store had 2-of the same model but one was clearly missing parts. I was going to buy both of them but had a limit on the amount. I was watching this for a whole week only to have the guy that I outbid receive my far better item. Not happy I even spent more than I wanted just to beat him because he won the first machine. I messaged them of coarse they were" getting my machine back to send me but offered 60% off the one I received. I accepted but regretted it later. Once I checked the vintage sewing machine out I found it had a lot of missing parts too many to buy to repair it. I wasn"t counting on a bad motor also. I did have a spare machine but no motor but this was parts for my personal machine.I ended up using the parts and have a motor on the way. But here is my advice unless you know how to repair items and have the parts don"t but a untested item from Shopgoodwill or any where else but they are the worst. Prices are as much as eBay but no guarantee.I almost forgot they put this a 35lb machine in the case in a box with only brown paper for protection the case was destroyed and I threw it in the trash. They charge a handling fee for throwing your item in a box with no protection what a joke. Also the base of the machine held on by 4-main screws was barley hanging on by 2-of the VERY LOOSE screws and you could clearly see this had been taken apart and parts were missing inside they knew this and never mentioned it DISHONEST No Pride only GREED. Photo is not the piece of junk I received they are on my phone I will try to update from my phone.

False advertising
October 27, 2021

I recently won a bracelet at auction from Goodwill of Southern Nevada Goodwill Clearance Center
7940 S. Valley View Blvd Suite 100, Las Vegas, NV. I bid on this bracelet because the listing stated it was gold-fill and I planned to refine it. (My second mom passed away, and I had to go out of state for her funeral, the bracelet arrived after I left.) I knew immediately after inspecting the bracelet that it wasn't as advertised. I tested it using the 3 scratch method and 14k jsp acid solution and know it is not gold-fill. I cannot use this piece and have requested a refund. I was basically told too bad so sad, and directed to their store policy, which is they don't guarantee what they are selling to be real. So basically I paid over $50 for a bracelet that is worthless. I don't understand how they do this in good conscience and turn around and say they are helping people. I took a video of the acid rest results, but cannot upload it... so I took still shots of my video. The original listing.

Questions remain on some of these Shopgoodwill sellers -

Why are the Shipping & Handling Fees so astronomically high by SOME stores - while OTHER Shopgoodwill sites have fees set at a much lower price (the lower priced fees, being routinely set for similar weighted & sized items, by much more distant stores)? Looks like a sales scheme that may not even be legal.

Why are many of these stores under the impression that Buy It Now options are for relisted, stale/clearance items? That kind of thinking only hurts sales (and the site's credibility). Buy It Now options are a win-win for both the seller & the buyer...IF...the range between the auction price and Buy It Now price is not too far off. If they are too far off, that only hurts the credibility of that seller & future sales.

I have watched several stores that did not know how to price go down that road of a massive amount of perpetual stale listings to the point where they are not on the site, or basically have no listings anymore. And it was a huge clog of non-selling junk on the site while they were there.

Many items are described incorrectly, often photos of items are unclear as to the condition of item or through the unskilled workers often overlook major flaws with an item.
As others have mentioned the S/H prices can be outrageous - same item on Ebay, same item on 'Shopgoodwill' can be 3 times higher than Ebay.
And with Shopgoodwill there are no refunds.
You would think all items on Shopgoodwill are donated - So why the highly over priced S/H?
Greed has become rampant w/Goodwill as with taxes in the US.
>>New added 9/28/2015 - Shopgoodwill had a Game Camera marked new in box (NIB),
I bid on this game camera and won, still a good buy well below retail price. After a long wait the game camera arrived and I soon discovered it was not NIB and so I opened the battery side of this camera only to find 8 AA batteries dripping a substance throughout the camera. The camera was destroyed by the leaking batteries - I lost $86.00 because of their No Return Policy. I do not know of any business that can get away with this kind of robbery.

I sent a message to one of the stores asking where Goodwill gets all of their very pricey jewelry. I could not see so many rich people donating jewelry that cost thousands and thousands of dollars on a regular basis. I was told that they buy that expensive jewelry to auction off. I've attached a screen shot of the conversation) I'm sorry but if Goodwill is a nonprofit and they are supposed to be helping the less fortunate, they shouldn't have the money to be buying expensive jewelry.
And yes, the shipping is an absolute rip-off as are the handling fees. Not long ago I saw an Indian Head Penny, just one penny and the shipping on it was $11 plus a handling fee. I messaged them and told them they could put the penny in an envelope for the price of a stamp and mail it! ( I didn't want to buy the penny, I just was curious how much they would charge to ship a penny).
FED EX is a RIP off! However when I have complained about shipping, just about every single store has replied that I can arrange for my own shipper, so theres that. The $0.01 shipping is a joke because every store jacks up the starting bid so high on the items so that they can cover the cost of shipping.
