“The customer service was exceptional”

Zoe A.

I ordered an Allbirds Running Shoes from Swap.com last week, and I was amazed at how quickly it arrived. The packaging was secure, ensuring the item was undamaged. The customer service was exceptional, as they kept me updated throughout the entire process. I had a question about the product, and their support team responded promptly and professionally. Overall, my experience with Swap.com was outstanding, and I can't wait for my next purchase.

“What Happened?”

This used to be my go to site for clothing and shoes. Tonight I thought I'd take a peek at what's new and discovered no longer are you able to pick your shoe size, dress size, or another size! It's not even divided into subcategories like petite and Plus. Awwwww...liked it better 4-5 years ago when it was easy to find what I was looking for and there is not near the items that there used to be. Also, had to wait for a code via email to signing. It's been over 45 minutes and still no code, even asked for a 2nd code, you guessed it...still no code!. So long Swap. Back to Poshmark for me. Sad to leave. For $63 I got a shirt, 4 dresses and 4 pairs of heels.

Brands:

Shirt: Fifth Sun
Dresses: Love Rocks, Xhilaration, Rue 21, Ya Los Angeles
Shoes: Guess, Charlotte Russe, Candies, Chinese Laundry

9 items for $63. Super cute stuff.

How does the site and the sellers afford to sustain at such amazing prices and high quality items? I would never get deals like this at any thrift store, not even Goodwill.

Happy I found this site and it's refreshing to see such positivity about a site like this in these times. Even their BBB rating is top notch. SWAP.COM - DOING IT RIGHT.

I purchased a JJill dress that looked prisitine from the photograph. I purchased and when received garment was extensively pilled, scruffy, washed out, and fabric no longer supple- all indications of a garment at the end of its life. I extensively buy JJill items for their quality, but eventually even quality garments reach end of life- this garment was NOT appropriate for resale at any price.

This company started out okay but has since grown into a very dishonest "company". First they do not donate anything, the resell it for their own profit! They will cut the tags off of your brand new items and send them back to you stained and gross! They will tell you they will except certain items and then throw it into their reject pile (gee wonder why?). They recently raised their sellers fees and you would think they would employ more help. Nope, for over a month they have been accepting boxes with confirmation they would be processed in 10-15 days. SEVERAL people's boxes have been "lost" in this process and several are still waiting and it has been over a month for the boxes to be processed, yet they charge you your fee as soon as it hits their back door. Of course, this works out to their advantage b/c now you can't sell your seasonal items b/c they have sat there for a month or so and Swap can offer you pennies while they turn around and sell it other places. Yes, they do sell on other websites and locally. There was also a post on their page several weeks ago about a lady who found her rejected items that were supposed to be donated listed for sale somewhere. Of course swap removed that post as well. DISHONEST... you are better having a yard sale and selling it for $1.00 or donating to a charity of your choice so that you can claim it yourself, than getting involved with these people.

I tried this site after the reviews online and sent in some new items and like new. After their assessment I learned i was due to make $2.00 - they rejected some very good clothing and accepted items with tags on them and sold them and I have not heard anything nor did they respond to an email complaint about their poor review of my bag (like new name brand clothing like Children's place, and brand new clothes as well). I had another new bag set to go out to them (all new and new shoes plus halloween costumes) and will NOT send them as i feel ripped off and this is only benefitting Swap.com. Who gets only $2 (which i have not received) for over four new items? If they say they give $1 per item, that is a minimum of $4.00 right there so I have no clue how people make any money off of their clothing on this site. I would rather donate locally then send a for profit company my childrens new with tags clothes to make $2.00. Which i have no idea how to receive, as if it matters at this point. Will not sell or shop with them again.

I have been a buyer and a seller on this site and would highly recommend! They make the process so incredibly easy. I love that when I purchase and receive items they are each bagged, like you would have if you ordered online from a retail store. I've never purchased any items listed as "fair", but I have purchased those listed as "good" and have been very pleased with their condition. I feel like overall their quality control is very good. I was also surprised to see they accept returns which seems rare in similar sites. I will say it did take awhile for me to get a refund on an item I returned... not sure why that was... but my account eventually did get credited. I like that the shipping rates are reasonable; I mean where else can you send a box over 50 pounds and only get charged $8? I also like the recent change they made where that amount is deducted from my earnings. I do wish when they reject items I've sent, that those items could be sent to me along with an order I place... so, let's say I place an order over $50 that qualifies for free shipping, I would like to be able to have my rejected items included in that box. I hope they'll consider that option at some point. I also hope they'll consider accepting adult items soon; if they could maintain the quality and customer service adding that as a feature, I think it would be a goldmine for them and certainly make my life easier!

Tip for consumers:
I try to maintain perspective when they reject a few of my items. As a buyer, I appreciate their careful attention to detail because I don't want to purchase something that is flawed. If they find something wrong with an item I send, then maybe it was an oversight on my part. I can always get it back or have it donated, so I do have options.

Do NOT send anything of any value to them. The payouts take forever and they are not fair, and you will always owe them money for their "inbound" fee. Use ThredUp instead.

Verified purchase

I noticed recently that my orders from SWAP have several items suddenly unavailable after I paid for them. I got an email saying those items would not be sent because they were unavailable. To add to that annoyance, I am now disputing charges on my credit card because SWAP thinks it's ok to refund your payment for items they notify you aren't being shipped at all as STORE CREDIT. How on earth is it ok for them to take a credit card payment for goods they don't send and then keep the money?

Swap.com has always had rough edges, like their clothes being delivered smelling of a moldy warehouse, inventory issues (wrong sizes, items listed that they don't have), orders sent out after 6-8 weeks! But this is the worst experience I've had yet. ~1/5 of my order didn't even get sent, because they didn't have it, and because they used the return system to issue a partial refund for that part of my order, I could not initiate a return for items that were the wrong size. I contacted support well within the 30-day window to report this and request a return, but I still have not heard back from any of multiple emails. I looked up their support number, but it isn't even connected anymore. They have gone from good deals with bad fulfillment and service to just a miserable mess that's not worth the trouble anymore.

Update:

I will say that I have continued to use Swap on occasion after that terrible experience, but due to their new return policy (and mediocre track record) I order from them assuming that:

- I won't receive some of my order (though I will be refunded)
- Some of it just won't be the right size or will be totally not as expected (but can't return them for money or credit back)

So if I find enough items that I can get cheaply enough to feel good about keeping half those items for the same price, then I'll still order from them. I've just GREATLY tempered my expectations and mostly look for cheap necessities and the occasional standout items I'm willing to gamble on; because that's what shopping with Swap.com is at this point: a gamble

Tip for consumers:
I've put up with a lot of mediocre experiences with Swap.com to replace an old wardrobe that no longer fits me on a single income supporting 2 people, this made me reconsider how worthwhile using Swap is and has greatly tempered my expectations when shopping from them. I now shop with them like I'm gambling on receiving what I expect. I'm less disappointed that way, and can still find some value in it sometimes.

Products used:
I wanted to keep ~14/30 items, 6 weren't even sent, and I still have 10 I haven't been able to return.

I seen this and thought ok i will try, I placed my order for two items. Received the items checked them over extremely well, NOTHING NOT ONE THING NOT EVEN A LOOSE THREAD! Placed a second order, received it picture perfect. Just make sure and know that every brand is not equal sizes. Like Lane Bryant may say size 16, but Jungle Jeans may say size 16 but fit more like a 14 so watch the brand when you order. Same thing on shoes which most of you know that the only CON i have is that I WISH I WOULD HAVE FOUND THEM SOONER! Have placed my third order within two weeks! LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE place keep up the good work and happy selling and buying!

I have been very happy with my Swap purchases. I am careful to check the fabric content and look closely at the photos, front and back. Although there appears to be a slight brightening of the fabric colors online, the pictures are otherwise accurate. I am not a minimalist and I am flexible (i. E., small repairs and alterations to fit are okay with me). Swap's sorting feature has been a great boon to the endeavor of building a capsule wardrobe, or several! My wardrobe has been completely refreshed with quality pieces of clothing at a very affordable price. I didn't have to leave my house and sort through thrift stores to find the items needed to complete a 4x4 capsule wardrobe (16 coordinating pieces). Several pieces that were marked as "good condition" came with the tags still on them. I am a very happy customer on a fixed income. I now have no problem finding something I will enjoy wearing when I go to my closet, no matter what occasion I am dressing for. And with the quality level I was able to purchase, I know my items have a lot of wear left in them. Thank you Swap.com!

I've been shopping for my daughters clothes on swap since she was born and since my experience had been so good, I decided to try my hand at selling. It was a TERRIBLE experience.

I followed all of their guidelines. I washed and folded every item, I carefully pinned together "sets", and packed up a HUGE box of items. It took 2.5 months to process (so most of the items I sent were out of season by the time they got to them) and over half of the items were rejected. The reason? Worn or stained. Some of the items were brand new and had never been used. And I have very carefully gone through the items and already donated anything I didn't think would meet their criteria.

If you want any more info on WHY your items are rejected, you have to pay to have them shipped back to you (which I did because I'll sell them on ebay or take them to a charity). My theory is that they reject a bunch of items assuming you won't pay to get your own stuff back and they get to sell or do whatever with them without paying any commission.

I did send them an email with my complaints and the response was not sufficient. Mostly just told me that my brand new items must have been torn.

Tip for consumers:
Don't sell using swap.com! Use ebay, a local consignor, or donate to charity.

The problem with your response to my review about my boutique dresses with boutique label bought from China is that I sent photos of the dresses and photos of the labels inside the dresses before I ever sent them to swap.com and was told that as long as they had the sizes on them they were fine. Another thing I sent a box prior to the last one you refused and you sold almost every one of them the boutique dresses in that box with my label. This is why I think that there are other people running swap.com now. You did keep a few of the boutique dresses in the last box which I was selling in my etsy shop for $45.00, you priced them at $6.00 and when a couple sold I received $1.20 of that amount. You are pricing items way to low and it looks like you are taking the largest amount of the sales price, which before I got the larger amount. I don't know what to say but i'm not sending any other boxes. There are many sites that sell used clothing that I can send my stuff to. The boutique dresses you rejected and I received back I just sent to another shop that will give me 70% of sales price!

Very disappointed with Swap.com
December 8th, 2017
• Previous review

The first box I sent a few months ago everything went well, it took awhile for my stuff to get listed but I was able to price them and the majority of my items sold and very few rejected.

Now with my second box it was there several months and now they price everything themselves. Before I sent my second box I sent photos of my new children's dresses and jacket that I sell in my boutique and also my boutique label to see if it was okay to send. I was told yes, the only thing was to make sure there was a size on each one which I made sure was on with my label. So they get the box and sit on it for several months and then tell me the whole box has been rejected because the dresses and jackets were altered by me putting my label on them. What more can you do than ask and you're told to send them!

So I argued back and forth and finally told them to send them back so after my first shipping charge of $11 and some odd cents and another $5.99 to get my dresses back I open the box to see that instead of them being put back in the box the way I had them they were just thrown in and sent back only to arrive all wrinkled and I have no idea if they are all there. It seems to me they are either getting to big now and pick and choose what they want or were bought out and now the people running it are horrible. Needless to say I won't be sending anymore boxes to them. I'm very disappointed with them!

I had 2 boxes that I shipped to swap in OCTOBER that they JUST listed today, March 14th! WTF is with this company? Not only that I am certain that things have been stolen out of my boxes. Or perhaps due to their FILTHY working conditions they were ruined and thrown out. Don't bother people, this company is on its way out.

Tip for consumers:
Wow, this used to be at least $200 per payment...

Swap C. – Swap.com Rep

Hello Kathryn,

Thank you for your review of your selling experience. Our current processing rate is about 60 days, and we are hiring more team members to alleviate the processing delay. If you believe an item was incorrectly priced, please, email assistance@swap.com with the item number, and we will review the price of the item for you.

Swap.com may randomly list your items to sell on the Ebay store, however, the price of the item will be the same (with the added fee from PayPal onto your original price) and you will always receive the payout for the sale of the item. Listing items on Ebay increases the chance of your items selling. If you have any further questions, please, inquire to assistance@swap.com.

Have a great day!

I sent in some children's clothing a week ago to swap.com. They were very fast to get the pictures up for me to start pricing. When I looked at my items there were:

1. Not properly matched up (ex. Shorts from an outfit were put with a romper instead of the bodysuit it was originally bought with)
2. The way they size there items is incorrect (ex. An outfit that has a tag and says 3-6 months, they are saying in size 3 months, 3-6 months is equivalent to size 6 months)
3. The way they rate your items (ex. Some stuff I sent in was never worn but was rated as good condition and not "like new" condition, mind you I never even washed it, so there was no wash and wear) This I feel, diminishes the value of your items and you will not get what the item is worth.
4. There is no phone to reach them to actually physically talk to someone about your problem and or concerns. You can only email or snail mail a letter to them and they will get back to you.
5. There is only 1 picture up of an item you send in. So if a shirt you sent in has a designed back to it, the interested person can not see it.
6. fees are higher than ebay's in the long run, there is a $9.99 fee I believe to send in your items to them to list, and then they charge you $1 a listing + 6% of what ever profit you make. Plus a paypal fee on top of that. Ebay is a $. 30 listing charge, 9% of what ever your profit is, you can either charge the buyer for shipping or offer free shipping to them. Paypal fee as well.

Tip for consumers:
I would only recommend new with tag items to send to swap.com to sell but I would only send in older kids stuff, so they can not describe the size wrong.

I sent in a box full of clothes. They accepted half and rejected half. The ones that they did keep when it sells I end up with no money because their fees take up all the money. NEVER AGAIN WILL I SALE FROM THIS WEBSITE!
