I have been a big seller and buyer on The Real Real since the beginning of the company in 2015! I have made about $400,000 selling pieces that I was not going to wear again. Also, I am a buyer of mostly "pristine" and "excellent" items on consignment. There are so many people who buy things and not wear/use them at all, and sell them new in the box with tags!
Therealreal is a scam. They take high-value items for consignment and list them at ridiculously low prices, allowing their internal employees to steal them from online clients' carts or even after payments have been made. They cancel transactions and resale the items to their friends, who then post them on eBay for a profit. Please do not consign with this company; you will receive almost nothing for your high-value stuff. The company has no control over their employees, so employees do whatever they want, including defrauding their customers and running a side business for themselves
I've consigned and also shopped TRR for a while now. Wonderful selection of items with fair pricing. The return policy makes me confident I'll be happy with my choices. Consigning too is very easy. Great customer service all the way.

The worst place to deal with ever! Second time in a row they lost all my items that one of their reps actually picked up. Can't get anyone to call me back. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them especially if you are a consigner

I purchased a handbag listed as being in "Very Good" condition. That was not true. I'm starting to wonder if anyone really reviews this purse at all because there was an old chapstick left in the side pocket.

I've ordered multiple times with TRR always satisfied with the speed and condition of items purchased.
However never understood why they always send multiple bought items separately? It has a somewhat big impact on the import taxes (as i always pay the duties/VAT, ok that's normal + additional local fees for every single shipment that I would be paying all at once if items were shipped together). That's a small annoyance for an overall very positive experience so far.

I've sold many things through The Real Real and bought almost as much. Years ago the company used to be great. You could find excellent quality, designer items at great values. Now, 2 out of every 3 things you buy are inaccurately described, not authentic, or in much worse condition than the description suggests. I refuse to try to sell anything through the site any longer due to the disastrous experiences purchasing.
And, the customer service representatives are obnoxious, rude, and even though you are calling about an inaccurately described dress that is NWT, they won't take it back because you're a few days outside of your return window.
I highly recommend shopping on any other consignment site you can find.
The Real Real has no interest in customer service.

The RealReal.com *******893: Purchased Chloe Bag online, described as "very good condition, slight creasing, slight marks to interior, 14" length". Waited excitedly for item to arrive... Delivered with box partially open so anyone could reach inside. Handbag was old and very creased and short of 11 inches in length & much smaller than described! Value of handbag was a fraction of what I paid for it. Return process was arduous! Would not order from The RealReal.com again.

I am a Size 9.5 Wide but know now to purchase on the RealReal as a Size 11. There are too many European sizes and Narrow pairs of shoes for sale that don't specify enough to help users discern.
The Hold time in the basked should be an hour, not 20 minutes.
The prices are almost always too high but I do like your sales.
Overall I'm happy RealReal exists because it's the only way I can afford designer items. Thanks.

This site has a nice concept but the fact that they pay no attention to customers needs is horrific. I ordered two cartier alligator straps they of course were not the deployant buckle like it stated in the description and when I tried to return them i was told i can only get store credit> What? So unsatisfied with their service I do not even wanna look for items again.

Amazing sales, plenty of brands to choose from, attentive customer service, fast reliable shipping. As for the items, they're just as described. I ordered a little afraid and expecting the signs of wear to be more noticeable, but I was surprised by them being barely visible, if at all. I'm pretty satisfied with my experience.
If I didn't give 5 stars is because charging +10usd for shipping -considering both my jacket and pants were delivered in a simple envelope- is a bit steep. Otherwise everything was great.

Items are well organized and described to the T. The "obsessions" and "save searches" options make shopping a simple pleasure. Ask my American Express card. Returns are easy, too, with the added ability to return multiple orders in one shipment. The "in-home" consignment feature was perfect for me and sold 22 of 28 items so far. I'm rather obsessed and check TRR more often than Instagram or FB.

The constant 'not a robot' tests if you open multiple tabs from the site is EXTREMELY annoying.
Duplication of listings when going through pages of search results wastes browsing time.
When trying to make larger purchase with multiple items often the cart won't update correctly before cart expires.
Measurements, sizing, or quality descriptions are sometimes completely wrong and when it's for a nonrefundable item its very frustrating.
Paid for express shipping, took 5 business days to arrive.

One thing that you could add in the description of handbags is the weight of the bag. That's of great importance to me as a leather handbag is sometimes just too heavy. Having information about weight would probably increase my spending on bags even more. Thanks for a great service!

My experience with TRR is generally good: nice selection, usually accurate description, fair pricing and efficient shipping. This last experience however, has been very disappointing. I have contacted, four times, agents to resolve an item I ordered almost 2 weeks ago. Despite every one of them assuring me that the item would ship "in 24-48 hours", or the last one assuring me 2 days ago that "the warehouse is currently processing it", there is no shipping information, nor has it shipped. Wonder why the run-around? BTW, I've already been billed for it.

Buyer beware. You have to roll the dice on some products God forbid the item does not fit. I returned a pair of Yves St Laurent Leather Flats size 10. Way too narrow at the toe even though I wear a 9. I requested a store credit what i got was a total charge of 73 dollars and some change including the shipping on my AMEX. Returned item received 48.00 back. It was a win win for them. Looking for a local consignment store going forward. Very disappointed. COVID Karma ( stop buying crap that serves no purpose)

I had to update my review as I have ordered from TRR 8 times now. Order #1: wrong measurements listed making me believe I would actually fit into a size 2 based on what the listed - nope measurements were all wrong. Got my refund and a $25 credit for their mistake, plus shipping refunded. #2: dress had pen mark on it, but I did not catch it until days later and tag removed. Note: always investigate items immediately upon arrival. #4: shoes listed as 8 but were really a 6.5. They refunded me and I asked for shipping refunding too which they did eventually. #3, 5, 6, 7, 8: all no issues. 63% success rate and last 4 orders were flawless - so maybe they got some issues worked out. I will continue to shop there but wait for my $25 random credit plus the daily 20% off or the sale items. Note returns are not free if it doesn't fit.

Profit over customer service and I'm sending more purchases back due to inaccurate description. Last purchase was a sweater described in excellent condition. The human odor stench was over-powering and can't believe it was accepted for consignment much less sent to me. Very poor.

I have sent many packages of consignments in. Among these I sent consignments in late December; the website confirmed that these were received but the items never posted to the website. After a month I reached out (knowing things take a while, but seeing hundreds of dollars of items missing. It has taken two or three separate attempts to get a response from customer service and still the items are missing. Overall the company has treated me fairly and been very helpful but this instance where I have had a problem is disheartening. To make matters worse it has been drawn out to an extreme.

I been long enough purchasing from The Real Real for more than a year. Always happy with big smilingvwhen opening box. However, this time, purchase a final sale LV jacket was very disappointed. Full of damage all over, surprise how it got approve to be posting out on the site for $789 even facial sale price? Was worried about no return on that since it mentioned on site. After explain to customer service lady. I ask her to first looking up my previously purchased history than we talk about it. And she resolved my issue with proper refund and with her professionalism through out the call. You got me staying with you guys! I love the site and have shopped there a lot. Items are of good quality, delivery is quick. One problem I run into is inaccurate size description. It seems that sometimes there is not enough time spent reading or finding size labels. It results in wrong sizes being listed or estimating sizes which is not always accurate. I understand the size labels are sometimes missing but if they are still on the garment an effort should be made to find them and read them correctly. Also, from my experience, the company will not accept responsibility for missizing items so you may end up stuck with the item or you will have to send it back at your own expense.
