I have been a big seller and buyer on The Real Real since the beginning of the company in 2015! I have made about $400,000 selling pieces that I was not going to wear again. Also, I am a buyer of mostly "pristine" and "excellent" items on consignment. There are so many people who buy things and not wear/use them at all, and sell them new in the box with tags!
Therealreal is a scam. They take high-value items for consignment and list them at ridiculously low prices, allowing their internal employees to steal them from online clients' carts or even after payments have been made. They cancel transactions and resale the items to their friends, who then post them on eBay for a profit. Please do not consign with this company; you will receive almost nothing for your high-value stuff. The company has no control over their employees, so employees do whatever they want, including defrauding their customers and running a side business for themselves
There are no other sites which offer designer brands at such competitive prices. Fast shipping and quick checkout make this my number one clothes shopping site.
Two annoyances are that I can not return multiple items in one go and have to pay $11 per item. Also, that I can not hold an item in my cart for a day so that I can wait to see if there is anything I want to purchase the next day and bundle the shipping. Shipping on this site reduces the discounts and makes them less impactful.

Love looking at what I cannot find in my small city. I find the info about the items to be very good. I do find that it's less about size labels and more about the actual measurements so, it can be time consuming to figure out. Until you know how brands fit you, I suggest leaving the size filter open to all. I have been very happy with all my purchases.

I would give these folks 0 stars out of 10. This company scammed me out of a $430 Prada wallet and they gave me $5 for it! $5! Will be going to my local news station consumer advocacy group and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I will tell all of my friends and family how horrible this company is. Please don't use them!

Was sold a fake Hermes bag, and another Hermes bag which was labeled "pristine" which arrived with notable damage, among other issues. TRR was professional, caring and responsible in addressing the issue but it doesn't take away from the fact their authentication process is impaired. Their grading process is also impaired, labeling items as pristine which are not pristine, and not including enough photos of key areas to illustrate genuine wear.
Tip for consumers:
Understand the authentication process is flawed, and one is buying from a company in high growth mode where quality control appears to be an issue. The grading system does not appear consistent with the high end luxury resale market in general, and items may be listed as pristine which are not. The site limits the number of photos and does not add additional photos or disclose potential areas of wear or issues which most after market sellers provide upfront as a courtesy.

I decided to test selling a mid-level designer bag on their site. They made the process for listing items easy and seamless. Once the item was listed it took months for them to sell it and in those months the price of the items kept getting discounted. It went from $190 to $99 the final selling price. I was excited to see that the item sold but when i went to go see my payout it was only $19! Honestly what a joke. I could have taken this same bag to Crossroads or another co-consignment store and gotten twice as much for it.
My recco is to not use this site unless you're selling high luxury items $500++

The Real Real has the absolutely best selection- from well known brands to some of the more obscure brands. Also their customers service team always goes above and beyond. It has become my favorite shopping spot!

I ordered two ties that were listed as 3.25" but when I received them they were 3.75". It seems illogical that I have to pay $11.95 to return items that were clearly labeled incorrectly and not accurately advertised. This has cause me to reconsider whether I reorder future items because I lack the confidence they are described accurately.

I love your site and what you offer. Unfortunately I just bought 2 pairs of boots and neither fit. I even upsized. It would be helpful if you made sure feedback was put on each pair with returns of shoes with relation to fit. I have bought quite a few pairs over the years and only 1 have ever fit me. I'm out another $25 with nothing to show for it. Completely frustrating!

A luxury manager, Vickie Gilbert came to my house on March 3,2022. She took pictures and gathered 3 large bags to go back to the Real Real warehouse to be vetted and sold. The womens' clothes/bags were sorted through and were put up for sale or sent back in a timely fashion in about 2 weeks. However, all the mens' clothes including 2 Burberry coats, 3 new dress shirts, 2 new designer ties including Dior and YSL never showed up on on my account. I kept asking and calling and they said that it may take longer for those items to show up on my account. I had called The Real Real customer service more than 10 times and about 3 weeks ago, they said they were opening a case and will let me know. No one did so when I called again, they said the items were never received! Your representative took the items from my house! I would think twice about doing business with the Real Real given what happened! I am still calling with no resolution!

The only complaint I have about therealreal is the shipping cost, which is why I gave four stars, otherwise it has been a positive experience for me. I consigned six or eight items, all of which sold, and payment was prompt and when they said it would be, and the commission spot on. I love how they make it so easy to send items in. You have to really pay attention to the descriptions and get to know the brand you are buying. Everything I have bought from them was in superb condition. I appreciate this website because otherwise I would never be able to afford high-end brands. Lately I noticed the prices for Chanel have gone way up, but then Chanel itself doubled their prices across the board... so guess it's a trickle-down effect. An addicting site. <3 <3 <3

The RealReal sold me an item, messed up the shipping, it was returned and then when I asked to buy it again the told me to wait til it became available. I waited for weeks and eventually it did, only to sell to someone else. I cannot believe how poorly this platform responded to this situation. Complete waste of time.

The recent two items which were sent to me the wrong size and because I had death in the family I was not able to return them on time. I would have kept them if the person who packed the items checked the sizes. I paid shipping and duty on top of the prices and now I am stuck. I won't be shopping from you for a while.

Twice the items shipped to me we're either not as described (one was an XL rather than XS) and one was a completely different item (ordered leather sling back shoe but received a satin pump). The second time, it took forever to get the return initiated and required outreach to customer service who required me to send pictures of the item rather than trusting me complaint. It was tedious and time consuming.

I made several purchases from The Real Real this year and absolutely love it. The sizes and conditions were exactly as described. I am new to luxury brands and The Real Real has introduced me to how great a garment or handbag can be. I recently had a purchase stolen due to a careless mistake by a Fed Ex driver. Much to my surprise and delight, The Real Real refunded my purchase. I was touched that they trusted me and cared about my business. Love them!

Really like the company, but the app could use some improvements. When I accidentally hit the "Bag" icon the app freezes and I need to completely close and restart. I also wish I could filter better by size (a size 6 and size 8 are both "Medium" but only one fits me, I'd love to not have to see the other size). In general I think the filtering capabilities could be better.

Measurements of garments are frequently unreliable. If you call up and request an accurate measurement, you'll wait a couple of days for someone to get back to you but sometimes you'll never hear back from them at all. Very immature and inexperienced customer service and long wait times to speak to a representative. If you try to elevate your problem to a manager, they'll frequently disconnect the call.

Love the site, great items, but the fees by ups are excessive. Delivery fees on each item but after you have paid, you get one package delivered with all your stuff. It would help to know where in the USA items are coming from and have the option to ship with them. Example, international customers are charged ridiculously by UPS.

Good, but the new no return on items over $500.00 is difficult. Unless I have actually seen and tried on the item to spend that much or more and not be able to return the merchandise is a large negative to purchasing it in the first place.
The delivery on home goods, furniture is too high. It has been more than the cost of the item.

I ordered a bag that was listed as a Gm size from Louis Vuitton. It was final sale. When it came it was actually the Mm size. If I had wanted the Mm size I could have gotten it for $300-$400 cheaper. Emailed customer service twice and never got a response. Will not be ordering from here in the future since they can't seem to get their details straight and customer service is nonexistent.

I sent several items to be consigned on August 31. I was told I'd receive 60% commission. The items were listed and they sold $1428 in the month of September. Strangely one of my items, a $425 Burberry coat was not listed for sale for a month. I had to email to get them to list it. On my online account it listed my commission as 60% which would be paid on October 15. Suddenly on October 1 the online account showed 55% commission. It stated that I needed to sell $72 more to be entitled to the 60% commission- any amount under that would be 55%. I contacted customer service and was told that they changed their policy on October 1. Clearly bait and and switch! How can they change our commission agreement retroactively? Why did they hold back an item to make it difficult to reach the minimum? I'm fighting it but it does not appear that they are trustworthy.

Have to wait forever for someone to answer the phone, when they do they're not overly pleasant, every time I've asked for a price increase they say they'll send it in and it will be changed in 2 to 3 days. It never is, I always have to call back and of course wait forever on the phone to ask again after the 3 days have past for the price change they usually have a hard time finding current price of item and then tell me they'll put it through again after that it usually gets done

I was really pleased with my purchases, thought they were fairly priced and they offer brands that other resellers don't offer. The only reason I took a star off is that the bags I purchased were not returnable, so you must be really sure you want to keep it.
