Don't bother working with them! They are useless and using bots and not qualified leads that request a job and want to pay 50 bucks while some projects are minimum $500-750. No customer service total bs and you will lose loads of money on "leads" as they call them but it's just fake accounts that show some sort of activity.
They will take your money and change policies of how you can get business every moment. Fake quotes put up will "read" your quote and take your money. Scam!

They charge you for exact matches that are not exact matches and sometimes not even close but they keep charging you and when you go to customer service you get generic answers and get turned down every single time

Selected a Groomer Pro for my dog that has needed to be groomed since February. Reached out too the ONLY groomer in my area for over a week and have heard NOTHING from the Pro and only heard "find another pro" but like I said, NO OTHER "Pro" in MY area and wasn't willing to drive 2 hours to the NEAREST groomer so all I can say is, THINK TWICE BEFORE USING Thumbtack

I booked a bi-weekly housekeeping service on Thumbtack, after reviewing the candidates that Thumbtack provided. The cost was $109, which Thumbtack took out immediately. We received an email and a text, confirming the housekeeper for Friday, April 22,2022 at 10:00 a.m. I stayed home from work to meet the housekeeper, since it was her first time. The housekeeper didn't call, didn't show, didn't text - no communication at all. I contacted Thumbtack immediately and was told that they were simply a 'leads-selling' business, and that they were keeping the money to apply to my Thumbtack account, because although the lead was no good, they did in fact, provide the lead. This is not the service that Thumbtack advertises. I paid for a service, the service was not performed, and even worse, there was no notification that the service was not going to be performed. The housekeeper did get back with me three days later, apologizing, but confirmed that Thumbtack kept the money, not her. I have used other services such as Anji's list and had great experiences. I will never use Thumbtack again, which means that I will not be able to recoup the $109. I am reporting them to Consumer Affairs, the Better Business Bureau, and providing this review to as many customer review websites as possible. WORD OF CAUTION - DO NOT USE THUMBTACK. They are thieves.

Thumbtack is simply a 'lead-providing' company. They do NOT stand behind the providers they offer to you, and if the provider doesn't show, doesn't complete a job or causes damage, they keep your money.

Send you service request for things way outside of your area and for things that are not even for your company. I work in concrete and I got asphalt and stucco requests. Does nothing but fill up your inbox with work that people won't even respond.

I have been using THumbtack as Pro for 6 years now. It's more and more apparent that THUMBTACK do not care about Pros, even though we are the ones paying and helping them grow. We get charged for responses even though they are not a match and is outside of our service area. We do not get access to client information when they have all of ours. Many times I had the same person inquire with many different profiles. They say client safety is their number one prorioty but Pros are not protected. I have no recourse when clients cancel last minute, or don't respond. I have no way of contacting them when I paid for the lead. I am tired of complaining to Thumbtack. The last straw is when a customer filed a dispute about a invoice they recieved from me for a late cancellation. Thumbtack did not even follow up with me or get my side of the story and put my account on hold. First of all, there was no charge even made to the customer, why is Thumbtack involved and why am I not protected? I am the one paying Thumbtack for these ridiculous leads! Thumbtack has poor business practices. I would not use as a Pro.

They give you fake leads. Their number of daily leads is WAY TOO HIGH. They also advertise $3-$5 leads and then charge you $40. All of sudden you owe them $100 and you don't even have any of the clients information.
THIS COMAPNY HAS BECOME A SCAM. MANY OF THE LEADS ARE FAKE. THEIR NUMBERS ARE TOO HIGH AND THEY DON'T HAVE TO ACCOUNT FOR ANY OF THEM. Meaning, they don't even give you an email address or phone number to verify that the person is real.

WE HAD MAJOR WOODCRAFT COME IN AND PUT UP NEW FENCING (OVER 600 FEET) AND TRASH ENCLOSURES. I got a job through Tentrr i finished 1 job but they didnt send enough supplies to finish both sites so we left, well tentrr is saying they wont pay me because of some made up issues they said they had which was basically u founded just upset cause they had to hire somebody else to finish that job, i sent pics and all proper paperwork to jeremy at thumbtack over a month ago to see if they could talk to thier customer to makes things right, and all he could do is say you need to try to work something out with them on your own? My business was listed with this website and after I asked them to refund me for leads that they are sending as "customer requested to hear from you" and that "customer" never replied even simple thank you - I was told that I just need to wait... I waited and waited, never heard back from multiple (at least 15) leads... When I emailed and called customer support they were very dismissive and unprofessional, and very short in their explanations. It eventfully ended up with my account being abruptly deactivated without my consent... with all the "leads" now being taken away from me (and I spent close to $500 just to be able to communicate with potential "customers"). When I called again, I was treated very poorly, unbelievable that one business has that low level of customer service, it was like bad bartender on the other side), and explanation was that their "policy" does not offer refunds... All this was within 5-6 days, when I spent money, asked for some help in communication with potential "customers", told to be patient and wait, and asked for my refund just to get my account deactivated... Thumbtuck should not be allowed to operate business in 21st century. So shady, fake leads, rip off. You are warned, please be smart and stay away from them - advertise on google facebook or anywhere else.

My company joined thumbtack before they were very popular about three years ago. At first it seemed that the leads were not working out but it was not to expensive so we stuck with it because we were farely new to it. After about a couple of months we had already started to get work from it. Ever since it has helped us generate tons of great new clients and tons of new projects. I strongly recommend them to professionals and the key is to work on your profile post pictures and ask for reviews. We couldn't be happier with thumbtack. Our company is Brothers Painting & Tile LLC out of Indiana. It's not an overnight fit you have to give stuff alittle time but it does work. We have tried several other lead generators and it was a financial drain home advisor which used to be service magic were and still are a bunch of thieves and network is terrible. So if your thinking about giving thumbtack a try I strongly recommend trying it there customer service has always been great I hope this helps on your decision

I had signed up for Thumbtack as a contractor providing services. No good fits in my area for more than 6 months, then, out of the blue, Thumbtack charges me for a job straight up, a job that was a very bad fit for me, and which I never had a chance to compete for. They claim that targeting was on for my account, I do not know why it was turned on, why it took six months for the first charge to go through, or why the targeting preferences were so off that it was impossible for me to accommodate that particular job. I can tell you there were were two profiles under my business account, and this by itself raises severe questions on how my account was set up. In any case, Thumbtack initially agreed to refund the charges, only to find out later that they had not refunded the credit card that was charged, but they provided "store credit" that can only be used on future Thumbtack charges. Problem is that I am NOT planning on using Thumbtack EVER AGAIN. I absolutely refuse to conduct business with a company that insists on scamming $10.43 out of my pocket, through a charging glitch that gave it access to my credit card account, and is using all tricks in the unethical company playbook to get me to have future engagements with them by refusing to issue a direct refund to my credit card. Shameful bait and switch tactics that nobody should have to go through.

I HAD EXISTING GRANITE COUNTERS. I NEEDED TO REPLACE A STOVE AND IT WOULDN'T FIT. 1" OF THE COUNTER NEEDED TO BE CUT OFF OF EACH SIDE OF THE OPENING. I WAS A BIT OF A CHANCE BECAUSE THE COUNTERTOP COULD HAVE EASILY BROKEN OR CRACKED. JOSE AYALA ARRIVED ON TIME. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. I WAS A BIT RELUCTANT BUT HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL.I AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM FOR ANY KIND OF STONE, GRANITE,TILE WORK. YOU WILL BE VERY PLEASED WITH HIS WORK. As a Thumbtack pro I am very unhappy. I have been victim to all of these money scams that Thumbtack does and now they got me on couple scams. Twice this month I was charged over $25 for "exact match, direct leads". In both instances I was the ONLY pro selected by the "customer". The first one I responded with my availability and provided an estimate to one customer which was just my hourly rate times 2 hours. A few hours later I was contacted by customer saying they hired someone else. I was supposedly the only one chosen yet they hired someone else? I was charged $24.74 for this. My refund request to Thumbtack was rejected.
The other scam was I was chosen by customer to do a job, another "exact match, direct lead" and I was charged $27. I went to respond to the customer 2 hours later, I would have responded faster but I was on another Thumbtack job and couldn't respond right away. Anyway, when I did go to respond it said that the customer had canceled the job and/or canceled their account. But did Thumbtack refund my money? Hell no! I was told by Thumbtack they don't issue refunds on canceled jobs. Technically there was no job for me to do but I was still charged for it. That in my eyes is theft. I don't believe there ever was a "real job"" or even a "real customer". This is what I would call a perfectly constructed scam pulled off by Thumbtack. Well done you mother ******. I hope you all go to prison when this crap is finally proven true. I don't use Thumbtack often because every time I do, this kind of **** happens. Time to get myself a lawyer.

I am a Thumbtack professional and I've been using it to get jobs for about 8 months. All in all its been a break even endeavor. As a professional, I have to pay to bid on Thumbtack jobs. They also did a background check of some kind on me. It has generated new leads for me. I think that's great. Thumbtack does work to an extent. I think I'll stick with it for now.
That being said, it is also not a miracle. Some professionals aren't very professional. I've found the same difficulties with bidding on jobs through Thumbtack that are found through any other method of bidding on jobs. Potential clients are often "kicking tires." It can be frustrating to bid on jobs and not recieve a response because it costs money to bid. This is the case with any business. I was lucky in that the cost of bidding on jobs has made it a break even endeavor. All of my reviews are 5 star reviews. That is great. I do appreciate the service, I just found it to be frustrating to not recieve responses or indications of being not hired. More often than not I bid on a job and the client views the bid and does not respond. That means I just lost the money (credits) it costs to bid. Thankfully if the client doesn't view the bid then I get my money back.
I'm still in my first year of using Thumbtack, so I expect that in time I'll be able to advance beyond the break even stage. For now I view it more as advertising and marketing than a surefire way to get work.
My advice to other pros: It's a good way to build business and get you name/business out there, but it's not a magic pill.
