Watch out for this bait and switch tactic that the Trademark Engine will hit you with! They will screw up your Trademark then you will be forced to refile and having to pay another $300! If you value your money, time, and business I suggest you don't file with them. Also, they will charge you another extravagant fee after filing once the trademark attorney with USTPO contact you with all the mistakes the Trade Engine has caused you! RUN!
Beware of Trademark Engine as it can be a scam if you're not cautious. When LegalZoom couldn't assist me with filing my first trademark in June 2022 (I actually like LZ but there was a conflict of interest), I turned to Trademark Engine. However, my experience with them was far from satisfactory. During the registration process, they automatically enrolled me in their Trademark Monitoring service, even though I didn't have any trademarks to monitor at that time. They charged me $175 per quarter for this service, and despite my numerous attempts to cancel and request a refund via email, chat, and phone, I received zero response. Every time I called, they promised that someone from the billing department would contact me to cancel the service and provide a refund, but to no avail. This frustrating back-and-forth continued until July of this year. Fed up with the situation, I finally resorted to threatening them via email, stating that I would share my negative experience online. Only then did a billing representative reach out and offer to refund the most recent quarter, but insisted that the remaining $700 for the services rendered was non-refundable. Essentially, I was charged for a service that I had absolutely no use for and was left feeling ripped off because they failed to respond to my refund requests. If you're considering filing a trademark, I highly recommend going through LegalZoom or an attorney. Not only will the cost be similar or even lower, but they also provide a reliable refund policy.
Do not use this company! Their customer service is absolutely terrible. They market to check and review the trademark you are trying to file prior to submission. My trademark came back with an error that could've been a simple fix. When I requested to adjust it, they had the audacity to tell me it was not their responsibility and that it would be an extra fee over $100. When I contact the head of their customer service he stated they are similar to Turbo Tax but they don't operate like Turbo Tax. LOL in other words they do the filing but they clean their hands of anything. You have better luck filing your trademark on your own. He would not provide me with corporate because "no such thing exists" because they are a small company. Instead of truly trying to help me he simply was more interested in arguing then when I requested his name and info to reference he then argued that I just didn't want to hear his solution. I don't understand the point in charging consumers to file information if you're not going to assist and see through that it is done correctly. I understand not being attorneys or legalities but a filing error should be fixed since they are the ones filing!
I just got off two very frustrating calls with Trademark Engine, who was handling my trademark (or so I thought). My application within their system shows as active; though it has been listed as dead within USPTO's system.
Why? Because I never received the many documents sent to Trademark Engine under my name. The last email from them was from 12/11/2018. They say the emails are auto-forwarded (there is nothing in my inbox or junk), nor could they prove the emails were sent.
Trademark Engine also said the trademark was denied anyway; a blatant lie. The first document from USPTO (March 2019) showed what to do in order to receive my trademark.
Obviously after going through the work and spending the money (a total of $750 to them with a monthly charge to monitor my trademark - HA!), I obviously would have made the changes ASAP. (It takes so much time to even get the USPTO to review your application!).
They refused to give me a refund. And didn't even sound sorry. Like they tell people this every day, most likely.
If you can't put the customer first, then you shouldn't be in business!
This broke my heart- I had been a customer for a long time with successful orders. I realized two of my files are on hold :( Requested a refund, which was mostly declined.
Jay, the supervisor, told me nothing was done on the file yet; they are holding my money! Like really. Who doesn't work and get paid? Does the company have employee's not working but getting paid?
This is a business strategy to hold funds and promise credit. "Keeping people as a customer by force." People who offer great service are not afraid to refund because they have a pool.
Customers should have the right to ask for a refund if they don't want an undone service, or the company should refund transactions they can't do and not just relax on the money.
How about an email "warning" I'll not get a refund before the time elapses?
This is not putting the customer first rather than staying low and waiting for the customer's late response to the refund.
They have you sign electronically to agree to give them the power to hold funds which they didn't work for..."Blood Money"
Trademark Engine Scammed me out of over 1k; application fees, monitoring fees and office action fees with failed results. Only for Leeland to tell me start over and pay all over again. This company is a SCAM! Leeland is rude and Samantha is a scammer. The best thing to do is to secure an attorney out the gate. If any discrepancies come about you will already have legal counsel. Don't waste your time with a 3rd party unless you have a licensed attorney.
Trademark Engine "checks boxes" charges exorbitant fees. Best to go through USPTO directly to fill out the forms. USPTO provides step by step instructions. I had them submit mine and it was rejected. When I contacted Trademark Engine fo assistance I was informed they didn't provide assistance after the initial filing and I would have to contact USPTO even though the error involved the form being filled out improperly!
Our company has had the worst experience with Trademark Engine. I have used them for 4 names and they do nothing to help you get the approval for them. Out of the 4 names I got one partly approved and I have had to pay $6,200.28 over the past year for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They have ZERO followup. If you miss one email they make you start all over again! FRAUD
When we came up with a plan with their staff, I followed their directions exactly. There was an issue with my specimen and the USPTO declined it. Trademark Engine wasn't helpful at all to resolve. Today I hired a lawyer - who told me my original application is useless and we have to do an "expeditated abandonment" (walk away from the original application) and then start from scratch. If you do ANYTHING online, don't recommend at all.
Answer: For my first Trademark, I was recommended to use Trademark Engine. That was a big mistake. The site doesn't do any extra work. YOU essentially are entering the EXACT fields that are required on the actual USPTO website and then they simply copy and paste all the fields on the USPTO website for you. I am NOT kidding - you can literally go and check both sites. You are paying $99 to Trademark Engine for just doing this. Oh and BTW, their nonsense about 'Researching to see if the TM is taken" is literally a 5 second job on the USPTO website. You just need to enter the Trademark term that you want in the search box (TEAS) and see if it has been taken. They make it sound like it is something massive. Besides this, they actually had the nerve to over-charge me. So they charged their fee and they charged me $275 to file with the USPTO (the USPTO filing fee). It was only later, when the USPTO sent me the email confirmation, did I realize that the actual cost was only $225 - so they happily charged me $50 extra. These people are scam artists and they refuse to talk to me about this or answer emails. I have filed a dispute now with my card (who told me that they will get the refund soon). Stay away from this company and file yourself.
Answer: They keep charging you for a subscription you do not sign up for.
Answer: My first dream business has turned into a nightmare. It feels like someone else is just making money off of whoever enters that hook without actually helping business owners who are looking to create a unique brand. The trademark registration process is misleading, and it seems like they are taking advantage of people. Many people don't understand how the process works and end up paying a lot without any guarantee of approval. I am one of the people who now need to cancel the whole position, and it is bitter business now.
Answer: No, i got scammed here. This whole operation is a scam.
