U Haul is an absolute joke‼A family member of ours is moving from Sask to Alberta he booked a 6X12 trailer and PAID for it, the day we go to pick it up. They no longer have that trailer in their possession. Called U Hauls 1-800 number they double booked the trailer without telling us and all they could do was give us a MUCH smaller trailer which by the way doesn't fit everything we have! I DO NOT recommend renting from U-Haul‼‼
Every single time I use U-Haul they give the wrong reservation and booking information. Either they book a truck at the pickup location that no longer exists or send you to a drop off location that no longer exists. Or the pick location may exist but they don't have your truck. This happens every single time. I have had to drive for miles to pick up a vehicle or equipment that was booked at a nearby location, most of the time not told until I arrive to pick it up. The only time I uses this company anymore is when it's an absolute must and there isn't another company in the area. I don't know how this company stays in business.
I experienced the same issues others have listed. Booked a reservation, confirmed the time, and then made moving plans based on the thinking a reservation with Uhaul meant something. On the day of my reservation. I see that Uhaul decided to move my reservation time without any notification to me. The entire day uncluding additional moving cost contagion on that time were flushed down the toilet.
This is like a fraud company. They advertise one price, but they charge all they can do once you give them your credit card number. Never trust in what they advertise and ask for every single detail, or they will charge you for using their restroom.
I just called & talked to Cody at U- Haul on N Lombard, Portland. I extended my rental & paid for 1 more week on their cargo van, ( my truck was stolen & then recovered & this is my transportation until it is fixed.)
Cody seemed to have an attitude. I was polite but he seemed like it was a problem to help me & when I asked him if he was OK, he said he didn t like to extend rental times on his vehicles, 'that s when accidents happen'. -he liked them back on time.
I wonder what they are in business for if not to rent vehicles? Strange.
Then he said 'O k, I've got it extended for you- have a good day- Good Bye. He hung up abruptly.
No reason for his attitude, & a little rude.

I made a reservation a month in advance to move out of state. They couldn't get my truck or trailer where it needed to be, I drove an hour away to get the trailer and what do you know they rented it out last night. They told me to be here first thing in the morning to get it. I'm here and the trailer isn't now they want me to drive another hour and a half to go to another location. My drive to my new place is 5 hours. Very bad customer service and scheduling.
After seeing prices for boxes on web went to Langley location. After got home looked back at receipt and saw was over charged! They would not match the web price when called back. Said a price increase had happened last month. So did not update web and would not stand behind. No manager to help me and told to call H. 0.? Lesson do not trust anything you read.
Liars and thieves! Keep away! These people are not honest. And their trucks only do 6 miles per gallon!
This has to be the worse company on the face of the earth. I rented a truck and was allotted 24hr. I picked up the truck and told the lady I was just going to use it for a few hours. To be exact I picked it up at 4.45pm and bopped it off at 8.23 pm that same day. I was charged $20.00 for dropping after the locution was closed. The sad thing about I was told by the manager that i would not be charger. Alex the manager was very rude and obnoxious. He even stated to me that he's being there for 30 years and will be there for 30 more years. How cocky and ignorantly can you be? Please save yourself the the headache. Go to Penske or Enterprise...
I really try to avoid giving negative reviews, AND I try not to let one experience ruin something, but this was really bad! We rented a U-Haul truck to move things out of a storage locker because we no longer wanted the locker. We were driving to return the truck and someone from the company had reported the truck as stolen (when it was a different truck that was stolen) and my dad was followed by at least five police cars and they pulled him over and pulled their guns on him because they thought he was driving a stolen truck! We were driving it back shortly before the place even opened for the day so we couldn't return it yet! Thankfully we explained the situation and they let us go (and updated the system so we wouldn't get pulled over again) but when we told the people at U-Hall what happened, all they offered was $15 off the bill! I get that mistakes happen, but a good company would give a formal apology and offer a long more compensation than that, especially when their mistake could have gotten my dad arrested or even killed! DO NOT USE U-HAUL! THINGS COULD GO SERIOUSLY WRONG!
Omg worst nightmare of a company ever. I hate them. Phone service is the worst, cannot contact locations directly. Hold times ridiculous. Not strapping my container, dumping it on the freeway, and haphazardly throwing my valuables in a new container without padding - seriously? Telling me I need to call roadside assistance when my 2 thousand pound unsecured container dumped in the freeway says it all about this joke of a company. Constantly changed my reservations without notice. Website is awful, unusably slow as they operate their entire company with one server. And the worst part - no humanity, no support, no empathy, no help offered. The only bright light in this abyss of sadness and mediocrity was the staff at Uhaul of Canton NY.
And all of this not for some one day $39 rental. I have paid them nearly $15,000. They do not care about you. They will not help you. They will take your thousands of dollars, then treat you like literal garbage. Also, the insurance they offer is awful. They destroyed my stuff, and 2.5 months later, I still cannot get an adjuster to look at the broken stuff, much less be paid out for the losses.
Please do yourself a huge favour, don't fall for the seemingly low prices (uBoxes hold maybe 1 small room, not a studio apartment), and hire literally anyone else for your moving needs.
Uhaul is apparently incompetent at every location. This was the better of the worst. I had so many PROBLEMS: 1. Ordered the uhaul WEEKS in advance. Then go to my SCHEDULED location in BATON ROUGE to be told I didn't have a truck. Was giving no help…was told to call a line that brought me to 3 different locations around the U.S. where I finally got help to this location. Meanwhile I need to move to Austin in 24 hrs.
2. Finally moving and I get a blowout and a flat in the uhaul that looked like it never had maintenance before.
3. Now I'm being told I OWE charges for "not filling up the truck" when I got the truck was at E. Barely made it across the street to get gas.
Y'all are literally the worst company I've ever.
I got a quote online for 2 hours with a 10 foot truck for 29.95$ plus km's (we did 6km). Then I received a call telling me that the 10 foot truck was not available anymore (even if I had reserved it). I only could take a 15 foot truck for an extra 10$. At the counter they do not have access to all your reservation info, so we had to repeat everything. They took over 150$ for a truck that should have cost Max 65$
I called, they don't know what to do. I submitted a complaint case and noone answers it. DO NOT RESERVE WITH THEM, THEY WILL TAKE A RANDOM AMOUNT OF MONEY OFF YOUR CARD AND THEN NEVER ANSWER YOU!
Problems right from the start. You spend a lot of time trying to organize your move and put in an order online to pick up the truck at a location that works and has the truck you need. Apparently the online site is useless and not at all accurate. A certain amount of time before your move they send an email and say that location doesn't even carry those trucks?!? They move you to a new, much further away location that you have to pay mileage to get the truck to and from. They also change the time. I call back and verify the date and time change with a "scheduler" on the phone. Moving day comes, its very hectic. I rush around and then show up to the location at the time they tell me to, and its not even open. I chose the "Truck Share" originally, so I think thats fine that its not open, but after trying to use it... well the new location they sent me to, doesn't have it. I call the "scheduler" again, and they are like, oops sorry. They can get me a truck 20km further away from the already far relocation. What a joke of a company. I will never use them again.
I dropped off the truck earlier than I supposed to and got charged 27.00 for and after hours feed.
I got charged for additional 30 + miles on my feed because I didn't take pictures of the mileage before getting out the truck. I suppose to got a month free storage they charge me. If metro storage wasn't closed I would have use them. I got charge $26.00 for gas and I refilled the tank pass the level when I got. Moral over the store this place will cheat you! Record everything single thing! Once I get my $#*! out of storage I will never use uhual AGAIN! Go to Metro storage or public storage! You're better off hiring mover or using Budget or another truck company. I Didn't want to give there $#*! no one star.
Uhaul has a problem with their scheduling. I chose a specific site for a trailer rental and got a confirmation email of the time and location. They said this was a guaranteed reservation with $50 promised if it wasn't there. I received a text inviting me to do an online check in which I glanced at and didn't read behind the first sentence (there was no mention of a change in location but the included and address of a different location which, as I said, I had no reason to look at having already received confirmation of the preferred location). The morning of the rental I checked the website under my account to confirm the location and it still confirmed the location I had chosen. The trailer was not there. I called customer service and asked for my $50 which they declined saying they sent me a text. I suggested some changes to their scheduling including syncing what is on the website under the client's account with the new information. The representative said that she can't do anything about that. She is scheduling. She has nothing to do with the online presence ("they, uhaul does that. I can't do anything about that."). I was confused. I wondered who "they" were. Finally she admitted that she was uhaul but didn't see the irony in the silos she was creating to disavow any responsibility. So frustrating. Bad customer service. Bad scheduling. Unable to give input as to how things might be improved.
Uhaul seems to think they can make up their own rules and charge your credit card whatever they feel without informing or authorization that's called theft noone ever picks up the phone your on hold forever. Their employees don't know uhauls policy but the manager of the rickville center ny uhaul expects you too then charges your credit card how she feels this is called theft
I wasted my gas, time, tolls and money to go pick a trailer. I couldn't get it because of lights and they refused to refund my money back to me after making me buy a hook. Very disappointed.
If I could give negative 20 plus I would. I made a reservation to pick up my truck at midnight, after I got off work. We'll the night of I was about to pick up my rental I then discovered and found out that my reservation had been canceled and without my consent or knowledge. With finding this out, it caused me to have a bigger problem, I had to end up making other arrangements to get my stuff moved and instead of making just 1 trip to my storage, it ended up being 2 trips and taking twice as long then intended all because of what Uhaul did by canceling my reservation and at the last minute. Everytime I have attempted to contact them I continuously got placed on hold even longer, or hung up on I never actually spoke to anyone. I most definitely would NOT recommend going to Uhaul nor make a reservation with them because u don't even know if the reservation will all of a sudden disappear without you even knowing, definitely can not TRUST these people HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SATISFACTION!
Where do I start, terrible customer service! I was on hold longer than the time I rented the truck. No one know what they are doing. Don't know how they are even in business. How do you put a picture waiting on the phone. My god!
Answer: Thought it would be cheaper but worst experience ever and they stole lots of $ from me.
Answer: UHAUL IS CHEATING PEOPLE OUT OF THERE MONEY. OVER CHARGES BY CHEATING YOU. There equipment clearly stated rent me $19.99per day. Not $109. Or $126.61. Per day.
Answer: Scammy. Just try leaving a negative review for uhaul itself (not the little mom n pop pickup/dropouts the big company responsible for the bull)...it's impossible
Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
